Wonderful person and wonderful experience with him.The deckhand, however, was extremely rude. Didnt care to put his hands on customers or rudely tell them to get out of his way. I dont remember his name but he was a rude 17 year old kid that needs to learn basic manners. He had a nasty attitude that he needs to get rid of. Im not sure if it was the kids first time dealing with the publicor what. He treats everyone like an idiot and needs to take into consideration that he is there to help.TL;DR Steve is great. Book with him. Just pray the deckhand isnt there.

Steve is a pro. Perfect for easing the little ones into a great day of fishing but laser focused when there are big ones for the taking. Not much wasted time at all on the waters today, he and his deck hand kept us where we needed to be for a great experience, outstanding photos and plenty to take home for dinner!

We had an amazing time with Captain Steve and Deckhand Byron! Very clean boat! Plenty of room to lounge in the front if you are not fishing. We caught Red Snapper, Benito, King Mackerel and a Trigger Fish (Out of season but still counts). Highly recommend this charter!

The first time I fished with Steve was 8 years ago when a friend and I had booked a trip but my friend and his son both had a stomach bug the night before our trip. The next morning the wind was blowing and the seas were rough (3-5 ft)! Steve was still able to put me on a limit of groupers! This year I booked Steve again with the help of a friend and we were able to get out before a tropical depression in the gulf! We loaded up on groupers, red snapper, black snapper, and topped it off with an 8 ft bull shark! Steve is an excellent experienced locally educated fishing Captain with a great boat, comfortable, and good quality fishing gear plus a desire to put you on fish! He uses a variety of artificial lures along with live and cut bait depending on the season but its up to YOU to hookem! Thanks again Steve!

This is third time we have been out with Capitan Steve and Lock N Load Charters. First off for me the personity of the guide will make or break a trip, you will not find a better person to spend the day with. All three time we have been out with him we have loaded the boat with fish. Not only loaded the boat, but loaded the boat with big fish. Lock N Load is the only boat we will ever charter in Destin. Once you go with the best there is no reason to try the rest. I would give 6 stars if Google would let me.

This is an unbiased review from an avid Tennessee angler. Visiting Fort Walton Beach last week with my brother-in-law and his father, we booked a charter trip with Lock N Load to fish for Red Snapper. Their reviews seemed really great and the price reasonable, so we gave them a shot. Being an avid angler (primarily Smallmouth Bass in Middle Tennessee) I know that experience is everything. Looking at the captain’s bio, Steve had a lot of experience – so that was one of the main determining factors for choosing Lock N Load. Side note: This was my very first charter trip so I didn’t really know what to expect. Prior to the trip, Steve was great with communicating with us on expectations. We originally booked a 4-hour trip, but wanting to get into Red Snapper would require us to travel out farther, so Steve advised us to extend to a 6-hour trip – this was a good decision. About the Captain, Steve is extremely kind-hearted and professional in every way. You can tell that he really loves being a guide and helping you have the best experience possible. Customer service was top notch! We began the journey by fishing for live bait. This was the only part of the experience that wasn’t too exciting…mainly because of time. For a child, catching shad for 45 minutes would be a fun experience, but for 3 adult men wanting to deep sea fish, it honestly seemed like a waste of valuable time. We would have rather had the live bait already available so we could spend more time actually fishing for Snapper – but perhaps this is a standard practice for fishing charters. Nevertheless, onto the fishing. The weather was absolutely perfect and Steve put us on the fish quickly. After catching some nice sized Trigger Fish, my first big surprise was actually hooking a Dolphin who snagged my Snapper! The line took off like crazy and the Dolphin made several somersaults in the air before we cut him loose. Steve said it was only the 2nd time in 19 years someone actually caught a Dolphin on his Charter. Needless to say, I felt pretty special, and it was fun holding him on for a couple of minutes. The next big surprise was a huge Red Snapper, featured in one of the pictures I’ve posted. We ended up catching our limit of Snapper that day, 2 per person, so we kept 6 total. The biggest surprise of the day was my brother-in-law’s father catching a 9 foot bull shark! I’ve a posted a picture. We took turns reeling that bad boy in….it felt as heavy as a car, surfacing 2 or 3 times. When we came back to port, Steve filleted all of our fish and bagged them up for us…a great icing on the cake – the Snapper were delicious!! Being my first charter trip, this was a fantastic experience and we all had a blast! If you have 6 people in your party, you can spread the price out a little thinner. But given the size of the vessel, I believe that 4-5 people max would be the most comfortable in the amount of space available for fishing. If we ever come back to Fort Walton, Lock N Load will definitely be gaining our business again! Thanks again for the adventure Steve!! Awesome memories!! God speed!

I have been on many boats all along the panhandle. Lock and load is by far the best experience Ive had catching fish!!! Cant wait to go again.
