The crew does a great job and move quickly around the boat making sure everyone gets as much time as possible with lines in the water. They also clean your fish upon return to the dock. Bring your own cooler of drinks and food or have them make you something on board. Bring cash for food and tips. Take Dramamine per package directions as the waves can get the better of anyone even on a fairly calm day. Do not recommend eating anything prior to getting on the boat!

It takes about an hour to reach the destination. There is a deep sea fishing orientation in advance. Keep your thumb on the line at all times to intercept the tangles. The helpers will unhook the fish to measure and decide if you can keep it. They will write a tag on your boarding pass so they know whose fish belongs to whom. The fishing experience was great but a customer choked us with his smoking from the beginning to the end of the trip.

I am not of a fisherman so I was a little hesitant to do this. But man I was wrong. I had a fantastic time. You catch sound many fish and even saw some dolphins. The crew was extremely nice. I would go again when I am in town next. Be prepared for a workout. Dont forget to go to AJs when you dock since they will cook your fish for you at a discount.

I booked a 4-hour trip and they cancelled on me due to mechanical issues with their boat. They promised a refund but never followed through on it. I had to go through my credit card company to get a refund. They kept giving me the runaround and never followed through on anything. I wont trust them again, and I absolutely wouldnt recommend them to anybody else.

We had an great amazing great 8 hour 🐟 fishing trip today on the American Spirit.Great amazing crew members and great timing. No wasting time. No false time.Took us out on graet fishing spots.Definitely worth every dollar spent.Wife and I caught over 46 fish and 20 were season keepers.Great food served hamburgers and coffee and breakfast.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has never went.Crew will help you so well with anything.

The best crew in destin in my opinion thats not a exclusive charter boat. They make the boat fun. Friendly Clean and its fishing. Plus they dont charge to clean fish just tip +$20 and your golden. Like I said it is the best around

Fished on 4/5/21 on a spring break trip. We had 35 people. GREAT TRIP! The captain and crew were excellent. I have 10 teenage boys still laughing at the deck hands. We were on fish at every spot. Most importantly the beers on the boat were $3. Great experience everyone had a good time. Highly recommend.

Shady. Booked three seats almost 5 weeks ago and we got to the boat this morning 40mins early. The clipboard attendant said, oh this boat, American Spirit, has a charter today. He pulled his phone out and verified our booking saying sorry we will refund. He seemed to not know about the booking but from pulling out his phone to verifying our booking was under 5 seconds. Seems hard to believe that quick of a search that he didnt know before. Whether honest mistake or not, this was shady business.To his credit he offered a booking for Monday at same price. Our travel plans wouldnt allow it.

This was the second time we fished with this outfit. Same crew I had back in 2018. They even remembered me.Look, fishing in s fishing. No guarantees. I usually don’t like partybboats.But this one is 1st class. We caught a monster kingfish and enough vermillions to feed a village.Please be sure to tip the crew handsomely. They work hard and do everything humanly possible to put you on fish!

These guys were great. They were very accommodating. Theres a bar and tiny kitchen for food. Once you begin your bait stops, they announce directions and you cast your lines. The crew is constantly making rounds to assure youre doing well and to help catch your fish. At the end of it you get to keep your fish depending on size and breed. They offer a cleaning service at the end of the charter. Its pretty cool to watch. The red snapper was delicious.

American Spirit is so much fun. We do this every year. The crew is friendly and helpful. We caught a Lot of fish including Snapper, Mingo and a Sand Grouper.

You will not find a better party boat. I would pin this boat up against any private charter. The deck hands are Rockstars and the captain will get you on the fish. We have been with this group on 8 individual trips over three years and these guys rock. If you dont believe me go for yourself and prove me wrong!

We went on a very busy spring break day. The deck hands were great. Very quick to respond and always friendly. Whether it was help with a fish or tangled rods etc they were right there every time. Had a productive day on an all day outing.

If you want to see dolphins and go fishing AND get to take your fish home or to a restaurant nearby you definitely need to go fishing on this boat. Be prepared to get up early and bring snacks. They do also have food on the boat. And if the fish stop biting and the dolphins swim away theres probably a shark.

Worst charter in Destin. Their spots are riddled with TRASH FISH, Red Rubbies, occasional small snapper. If you want an expensive sun tan, book this boat, if you want good fishing find another charter.

GREAT trip and an outstanding crew! The mates were extremely helpful and super friendly. No down time for these guys. They definitely made the trip! The captain did a good job of putting us on fish at each stop. Snapper was the big catch of the day, but we pulled in a grouper and a couple of trigger too. All equipment and cut bait are included, and the galley is open for brews and bites Small coolers/bags are permitted. Larger bags of bait can be purchased for $5. Great charter and great times! Remember to tip your crew!

One of the best experiences of my life. Getting a chance to fish with my Father and older brother in the gulf for the first time was a memory I will never forget. The Captain did an amazing job getting us on the fish. Everyone on the boat caught fish. The crew was friendly and fast. Made everyone feel welcome. We had an amazing time on the American spirit. This was our first time with the boat and we definitely will be coming back. The crew of Nick, John, Max, Vic, and Eric were phenomenal deck hands. This is the first time my company has used American Spirit. We normally use a competitor down the wharf. The competitors boat is smaller and the employees are not as grateful for my hard earned dollar.I book the entire boat every year for my company. This year we booked with American Spirit and we will not be booking ANY WHERE else again. They were fabulous. From George in the office to Nick, Rick and Eric, the mates on the boat. They all did above and beyond my expectations. I spent over $5500.00 and got every pennies worth from American Sprint and crew! Great job guys! I have fished this boat for years. These guys know their business and their fishing spots. The mates are always nice, helpful and kid-friendly.I have fished a lot of boats in a lot of places and these guys are the only ones in my speed dial. They have online scheduling and ticket purchase now as well.There is always the possibility of the fish not being there, but happens less often in this boat than other I have tried. Even if the fishing is not good, the service will always be great.

We went on a Monday and the boat had a large group, but we still had a great time. Booking was very easy as we met the owner at a little booth during the seafood festival at the harbor walk. We got booked for the next day, and met at 630am. The boat left at 7, just as the sun was coming up over the water. It was beautiful. It took about an hour to get to the first stop, and when I dropped line I hooked two snapper on one line. I knew it would be a good trip when that happened. Ended up catching about a dozen fish altogether, with the last fish being a large tuna. The 4 hour trip went quick, and I ended up yakking twice due to the rough waters, but for the $70 price it was worth it. One of the crew was nice enough to take some photos and when I called later to see if he would send them to me, he was kind enough to forward the pics. The crew and owner were very nice and helpful to everyone, including the kids that were fishing. We also got to see dolphins and jellyfish while cruising. If you are looking for a first time drop sea fishing trip, and dont mind fishing with a group, this is a great boat to try out.

I had so much fun on the American spirit boat! I caught 7 fish that day and took 15 fish to my house. If your taking a trip to Destin, I would recommend this to do first.

It was my first time deep sea fishing and I had a blast with my family. The crew was awesome and helpful. The boat was not overcrowded at all. The captain and crew knew exactly what they were doing and where to catch fish. We caught too many to count. Dont think there was a single stop that we didnt catch one. We did 6 hour in the AM and was very pleased. Be sure to tip crew!!! Will definitely book again when we come out to destin. They also filet/cut up fish for you at end however you like it (restaurant or take home). Thanks for a great day out on the water guys. Was truly an unforgettable experience and the staff made it that much better! Also got to see plenty of dolphins!! They rode with our boat the entire way! So cool to see them riding our wave!

Super fun experience deep sea fishing! The friendly operators obviously have a love for the job. The Captain headed several miles off-shore directly to one great fishing spot after another. Our trip out was made more enjoyable because we were accompanied by dolphins for an extensive portion of one of the legs of the excursion. The crew were quick to help identify, tag, and store legal catch. When the trip was complete the crew quickly and cheerfully provided photos of you and your catch, then cleaned, filleted, and provided you with your dinner-ready catch! It was such an outstanding experience for me with very limited deep-sea fishing experience.

Almost or all of the fishing reels need to upgrade or replaced. The lines are old and and reels are rusted. The release/lock levers and drag wheels are rusted. It took forever just to reel in a 1lb fish. I rated 4stars because friendly crew members and boat cleanliness. Remember ask for specific type of fishes in season that you want to catch.

Me and my boyfriend went we had a great time. The crew (workers ) were excellent they work their butts off! And they are extremely polite and helpful! Please tip them well they deserve it. Hunter was a very polite and helpful! Me and my boyfriend had alot of fun! Well worth it I definitely will go again.

A few of my family members and I wanted to go deep sea fishing over thanksgiving break. We are pretty big bass fishermen, but had never gone deep sea fishing before. A few of our friends down in Florida recommended American Spirit, so we decided to try it out. We had a great time. The cost was pretty affordable, considering it was a 6 hour trip. The ride out and back to and from the fishing spot was pretty long, but once we positioned we caught lots of fish. Although, between the 5 of us, we probably caught about 30 trigger fish, which were out of season, which was a little disappointing. We caught about 20 fish we got to keep, which the deck hands filleted for free, which was great! I also caught an amberjack, which was the highlight of the trip. I would definitely recommend, and we will probably go again.

Great first fishing experience. Went on 8 hour outing caught 12 vermilion snapper, had a lot of fun. Friendly crew, knowledgeable. Air conditioned cabin, food available(burgers/hot dogs/chips), bathrooms, place to lie down if needed. Also half price tickets for non fishing riders, which was great for the wife

Outstanding experience. Boat was spotless, equipment was in good shape, the captain had us on the fish constantly, and the mates were friendly and super attentive, especially with how much action we were all getting. Really nice crowd of folks on the boat - wouldn’t hesitate to bring my 11 yr old daughters next time.

One of the best boats and crews in the harbor. I have fished with them over 150 times and enjoy each trip out. I even bring my brother down in October for the Rodeo Tournament and even took first place in 2012.The thing I really enjoy on their boats is the way all fishermen get along and I do not mind helping others with some things that I can do.I will continue using the American Spirit boats into the future and even purchased a condo nearby for extra fishing trips in my future.

We had a Great time! Crew was very nice and helpful!! You do have to bait your own hook but the crew takes your fish off. Crew worked none stop the entire trip. The boat handled the water very well. We will definitely be going on this trip again! Recommend to anyone!

We recently were on vacation in Fort Walton and had wanted to go deep sea fishing. We could not have picked a better team to partner with for our excursion and the price was really affordable. We caught several vermilion snapper, 6 very nice red snapper, one trigger fish and several other non-keepers. We will definitely do this again if we are fortunate enough to return to the area.

I have been taking my family on this boat every July for over 10 years. We always catch something and enjoy our trip. The mates usually are very helpful. Nothing fancy but a decent fishing experience for the cost.

We had an amazing time! The staff were all very friendly and super helpful for our 9yr old son. It was a great day spent on the ocean and when we got back to the dock we were able to have the crew cut and clean our fish. We went to the restaurant directly next to them to have our fish fried. This experience was one my family will never forget! You are expected to give a decent tip for the staff and another tip for cutting and cleaning your catch but the staff absolutely deserve it. I am so glad we went!

Crew was fun and nice. Cook was sweet and quick. Captain put us on fish everyone who wasnt sea sick had a blast! Only down sides were, 3 hours of a 6 hour fishing trip were traveling. And he kept moving the boat with all the lines in the water constantly tangling us up. It wasnt to packed when I went but we still enjoyed the experience.

We did the 6 hour tour in late August, resulting in about 3 hours of fishing at various locations and 3 hours of travel. The boat was only about half full and I cant imagine how often lines would get crossed if the boat was operating at capacity. The crew was generally nice and attentive. Something to note when comparing prices with other similar services- the prices listed on their website do not include tax, the tip for the mates (recommend to be around 15-20%) and the separate tip for cutting/cleaning your catch. None of the costs are unreasonable, just be aware of them when planning your trip.

Amazing experience; the crew including the captain, the staff, and the woman in the kitchen were all wonderful. My youngest son had trouble with the pole (he is 8), and one staff member, Bill was his name, I believe, took a lot of time to give him special attention and instructions. He caught two fish with his help and was thrilled. My oldest son is 13 and this experience is one hell definitely never forget. He caught a large Red Snapper, not to mention tons of Vermilion Snappers and a few other varieties. Even the adults in the group were excited and happy with their catch. Be sure to bring snacks and iced beverages because even though there is a kitchen, youll need to be sure to stay hydrated and fed on the long trip. Also, youll need cash for tipping the staff at the end of the ride and for the folks cleaning and filleting the fish afterwards. Great first experience for deep sea fishing. Next time, we might go on a boat with fewer people because sometimes lines would get crossed.

On our recent trip to Destin (Jun2018), we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Eric and Nick while checking out the boardwalk. They were informative when asked about getting a charter and the next morning we were on an 6see hour trip at 7am. It was an amazing experience. First, we caught enough between the two of us for 2 great meals; however, the best part was the crew. Eric, Nick, Casey, Max and the whole crew were amazing. They were friendly, funny, helpful, and made everyone feel welcome. I have already recommended them to three other groups traveling to Destin. Oh...and we checked prices in over a dozen other boats and this was among the cheapest. Even if we paid more, it would have been worth it for the people alone. Great time...couldnt recommend them more.

Its was ok. Couldnt really fish due to the trolling and the weather(whitecap waves). Go when theres no one trolling for fishing trying to get in the tournament books! Youll have a better time. Ive been on going since on these boats(New Florida Girl and now American Spirit) since 2000.

We went out on 6/2/17. It first time on this boat. The crew was very professional, and awesome with kids. The Capitan was all about the quality of fish. Most boats will leave fish biting. If fish were coming over the rails we stayed in that spot. I did read some bad reviews about the this boat. I didnt experience any of that at all. I will defiantly be back!!!!!! Great trip.

The crew was among the nicest I have met, but there were simply FAR too many people on the boat. I get trying to take advantage of Red Snapper season, but yeesh.Of the 6 hour trip, 3 hours and 45 minutes was spent with the vessel travelling, either going out and coming in or from one spot to the next. Of the 2ish hours we had to fish, I would estimate that we spent at least 40-50 minutes with our lines tangled with someone else. One stop we spent the ENTIRE STOP trying to get SEVEN FISHING LINES untangled from our one pole we had in the water.One thing I can say differs from my past party boat fishing trips is that Ive never seen a captain tell people to drop their lines while the boat is still moving so fast, every single time. Normally on other boats the lines would drop pretty much straight down, but these drops were all at 45-50 degree angles into the water, and then the captain would turn the boat and it was like we were trying to stitch a quilt with our fishing lines. It was honestly miserable.We ended up catching 8 fish, none over 2 pounds. The bite was good, but we caught more people than fish.Again, great crew, very nice galley and kitchen, but simply too many lines in a small space combined with an abnormal amount of boat fidgeting made for a long day.

Boat was over crowded, our lines kept getting tangle because we had no room to fish, couldnt even unhook the fish yourself even if you knew how, most of the rods were pretty bad, we fish for an hour and a half on a 6 hour trip, the rest was riding. Waste of time and money for me. Will not do it again! If it is your first deep sea fishing experience and you are already a fisherman I would recommend you to go on a smaller group charter and not this party boat. And theres a mandatory tip!

Im a resident of Destin and have always liked the American Spirit. I took some friends last week that were in town that had never been deep sea fishing. All the way from purchasing the tickets to the crew, I could not have asked for better service. We brought in some great catch and everyone had a wonderful time. I highly recommend them.

We had a great time on this Boat, it was an awesome experience for my family. The crew was friendly and we caught a ton of fish! The boat has bathrooms and even a little kitchen where you can order a sandwich or a hamburger.
