Gave me 5 different reasons why my car AC wasn’t working. After hearing a different reason every time I called I went to a spot on 47th and Racine and they fixed it that same day. Wouldn’t recommend that pep boys to anyone

Had an appointment. Checked right in and the oil was changed in about 40 min. Used a 30% off offer and was on my way. Later I went to fill up my washer fluid and discovered it was all the way full. Pepboys did it!

When I purchased 4 tires, I was asked by the manager if I wanted the road hazard. I was back and forth but I ultimately decided on yes I did. By the time I was ready to check out, the manager was gone for the day. I noticed that the total price wasnt the same as was quoted by the manager(it was less). It turns out that the road hazard was on the work ticket. The lady told me that she couldnt add. I cant remember her reasoning. She said that I will have to call back and speak to the manager. When I talked to the manager the next day, he told me that I had 30 days to purchase the warranty. So, I thought, cool. In approximately one week after the tires were installed, the low tire pressure light comes on. Long story short, I had a flat and took it to a local tire shop. Apparently it couldnt be fixed. This was also confirmed by Pep Boys. Now when I try to purchase the warranty, its like theyre singing a different tune. Why do I still have to buy a new tire with the warranty? The assistant manager didnt even want me to add the warranty after the fact. Even though, the manager said that I could. She said Im not supposed to be able to. I still shouldnt have had to purchase a new tire. I believe they sold me a defective tire.Update: The contact/details were submitted on 3/9/21 in response to their reply. As of 3/16/21, still waiting on their follow up response.Update#2: No one ever called ever. It is all a front to make it appear theyre trying to resolve something. I want to report them to the BBB or Attorney General.

This place is so unprofessional its ridiculous. The only reason why I go here is because its right up the street from my apartment but the two times Ive taken my car to Pep Boys Ive explained something was not right with my car they insisted nothing was wrong. The first time they did it, my transmission went out a week after and now the second time theyve done it my starter went out 2 Days Later! I am consistently calling them to ask whats going on with my car after they make promises that they will call me back before the day is out. Not to mention theres a new young lady that have at the desk and her attitude is completely atrocious.

WHEN I BOUGHT SOME TIRES FROM PEP BOYS THE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY CAN I RATHER NEXT DAY IT TOOK THREE DAYS TO ARRIVE AND THEN I WAS GOING BACK-AND-FORTH WITH A MANAGER AND HE ORDERED THE WRONG TIRES AND I DECIDED TO CANCEL THEM THIS WHOLE THING COST ME $1,500 the manager told me that my moneys gonna be arriving in a few months that was back in 5/20/21 since today I havent gotten my money back Ive been talking to corporate and every time they send me back to the manager and the manager cant tell me nothing saying its up to corporate I dont know what to do now Ive been trying to call them and havent told me anything

DO NOT take your vehicle here to this location. They will lie about anything to bill you, and damage your vehicle by not having the right parts or tools. They will LIE about having parts and the correct tools to fix the problem, period. Even if you have an appointment they will not even look at your vehicle 2.5 hours later. The front desk is very disrespectful unprofessional and lacking training. You will have a better shot at solving your vehicle problems directly talking to a mechanic and not pep boys. The front desk made threats and made customers feel uncomfortable dude to their disrespect, lack of knowledge, as if they will not fix damage they caused to your vehicle and send you home in a unsafe vehicle. I caution you to not come to this location.

Took my beamer in due to low brake fluid. The mechanic checked out the entire car. I already knew I needed struts but he gave me the whole lowdown. Heartbreaking bill but I know its its a big job. Long story short the car rides like a dream. Such a soft quiet ride now. And they managed to pull it off in the midst of a freaking riot. Props.

The service was excellent the outcome was what we expected and actually more we found out the car was working at a nominal and workable situation for which we bought it from cuz its used she did find out the spark plugs were old and they need to be replaced and well take care of that probably in a couple of more weeks if not next month everything else with the car was fine and turns out that car dealer was pretty much on point that we went to so we would definitely use them again and recommend them the service was great we will definitely go back there again and continue to use their service

Called prior to coming to location to see if they were able to do an oil change for my vehicle and pricing. The customer service person (Celeste) asked for my year/make and model- so one would assume she would be checking to make sure she has available items for oil change. She told me they did and to call back in an hour for an appointment time, which I did. I now arrive and she has to check to make sure she has the filter, because the “system says they do”, but she has had this problem before. So if this has been a past issue, don’t you think before telling me to come in one would double check? A waste of my time.

Be VERY careful when visiting this location. Unfortunately this crew put the wrong tire on my car. My car had 4kU22 name brand tires on it when I took it to PepBoys to get the nail out. Went in on the 10th 2021 the crew refuse to fix it said I dont have insure Nontheless I do have insure but didnt have my receipt. I SCHEDULE the next day 12 noon. Made it by 1220130 went to the back spoke with people about what was taking so long to pull a nail out of a tire? The worker said he was not awear it needed to b fixed.I was out by 215pm Unfortunately a few days later I realized this was not MY tire.I called manager Charles & I watch the servalence video.2 hours into the CHOPPED UP VIDEO finally Charels & I saw the video CUT OFF. AT THE END MY TIRE WAS REPAIRED DID NOT GET PLACED ON MY VEHICLE. Today I still have a different tire on my car. Bummer 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

If I could rate this place with zero stars, I would. I took my car to have the burned out bulb from my headlight replaced. I sat in their lobby for 4 hours, yes FOUR hours... it wasnt until I inquired about a status on my car that they realized they did not have the bulb in stock. After 4 hours, my car wasnt even worked on nor was the part ordered, since the front desk clerk ordeted in in my presence. I was attempting to excercise patience since we are in the middle of a pandemic, but this was just negligent and unprofessional. I will never bring my car to this establishment again, ever.

Yesterday I dropped my car off for an oil change at Pep Boys at 5959 S. Western Chicago, IL. I picked it up a few hours later and there were small scratches on the bumper that peeled off the paint. I talked to the store manager (Charles) about it and he acted in a very nonchalant manner and said he would check the cameras when he has time. I told him I would wait to view the footage with him, to which he responded that he was “too busy right now” and would try to view it by the morning of the next day and call me by 10am(which is today). My gut told me he was not telling the truth, and something was off. Anyway, I payed for the oil change,went home, and called corporate office shortly after to file a complaint. They said they will reach back out to me within 48 BUSINESS hours . That is entirely too long.This morning I called Pepboys to talk to Charles. I I was told, “Charles is off today”. So he knowingly lied to me. He definitely knew what he was doing.DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

I went to the pep boys on 59th &western, for a car inspection, I made it on time for my appointment, had a female cashier working, she was rude and had no patience, after about a 30 minute wait I step outside and see my car has not moved, I go in to get my keys because at this point Im about to leave, then the guy comes out and gets my truck, about 20 minutes later they gave me my keys and paperwork. I have brand new tires, and a new spare under my truck, checked under truck today and my new spare had been replaced with an old ,worn, bare tire with no tread, I suggest before and after pictures before you get any work done here, their employee are stealing tires!!! I am highly disappointed with the integrity and overall customer experience at this establishment.

Im been standing in this line for about 30min now (Im still in it as of now). Only one customer is in front of me and he is asking a million questions. Mind you Im the ONLY one in line, and the only reason Im here is to get my windshield wipers replaced because one of them is broken. I got an alignment done as well as letting them know that a battery that I had bought which was under warranty was giving me problems. They did an amazing job on the alignment. They installed a new battery with only a $10 installment fee which I thought was totally reasonable. They were pretty quick.

They have very good customer service excellent but that only goes so far I ended up paying almost triple than what I was quoted. The people are nice but I dont think I will come to this location again if I dont have to. Some of the reviews are correct you think you will pay one price and end up paying double our triple.

I have been a customer at this location for several years and have spent thousands of dollars there. Last week I had a new alternator and battery put in. That went perfectly but when I picked my car up in the middle of the Chicago polar vortex my heat wasn’t blowing the way it was before I brought it in. When I called back, three days later, they refused to do anything about it without charging me.I said, ‘hey, I’ve spent thousands of dollars here and I just want my a/c functioning the way it did when I brought it in. Maria, insisted that they would not do anything unless I was willing to pay to repair a problem that I didn’t have before I took my car to them. I am not mad, I’m just taking my car elsewhere in the future.

I ordered front rotors and brake pads from them online and picked them up in-store b/c of their web discount at the time. Picked everything up and took my wife’s truck to our neighborhood mechanic, who was in the middle of replacing the pads/rotors when he discovered that I was given rear rotors. Double checked my receipt and I definitely ordered front rotors. I took an Uber to the store and told them that I was given the wrong parts. They checked my receipt, and looked up the correct parts and told me that they didn’t have the ones I ordered in stock. They offered me a lower priced/quality set of rotors and I told them to just give me those and refund me the difference. Then after a few minutes another employee magically found the ones I originally ordered. Even after I told them my wife’s truck was in the middle of being repaired and I had to catch an Uber there, they never once apologized for their mistake. Also, their labor rates are extremely high, shop around and you’ll definitely find a lower price and better customer service.

I ask him why is he charging for extended warranty. He said that there policy. So I waste 49 dollars, even he was so careless and unprofessional. Everyone was not as pleasant. So I called another location and they were honest, caring and professional. Ladies do not go here. They prey on your desperation of getting your car fix. I paid $400 else where. I had an an appointment to have my tires balanced. The service advisor, Felix, was professional and helped me out with my car. There is a huge management problem. Although Felix did an excellent job dealing with the customers and the phones, I dont think anyone should be up there handling the paperwork alone. He seemed overwhelmed, and I had to wait until he was done on the phone because no one else was there. He was hesitant to answer when asked about the manager. Saying he was busy or in the office. Seems like the manager didnt care about enforcing basic rules. Even technicians were late. There were only two employees there when I arrived and yet many customers waiting outside for the store to open. I was greatly satisfied with Felixs work, but the manager is incompetent in doing his job as a manager.

I had an appointment on Friday, July 12, 2019 @11am to check my brake system. Robert, the employee checked me in and told me he would get back to me shortly. I received a phone call from Robert about my brake system and I was told my master cylinder is bad and I would be charged $750 to repair. So, I made it back to the facility on 59th and Western to pick up my car because the price was too high. I started my vehicle and immediately I noticed my wheels would not spin. I had a very hard time driving out the parking lot. I nearly lost my life! I was a car length away from getting hit by a CTA bus and nearly hit a car the was in motion already.I come to find out that clamps were left on my Brake hoses. I would never go to this pep boys ever again because of the poor customer service!!! I tried calling to explain my situation to Robert , & he was not understanding and very disrespectful about the situation. I feel that a store manager should have been on duty because of the poor customer service. I feel I was treated poorly as a paying customer. I paid for a brake system check that went wrong and almost caused me my life!! I have photos of the clamps 🗜

It is unbelievable the bad attention here! the employees of this place do not consider their customers. I had an appointment this morning at 10 am. I was waiting for more than 25 minutes in line to check in. The person behind the desk was having trouble attending the customer in front of us. Obviously he didn’t know what he was doing, and was lost with the paper work. This was clear because when another employee came in to help him he was told he was doing everything incorrectly. All the time we stood there waiting to talk to someone no one acknowledged our presence, so we left to a different automobile service company where the service was fast and great.

I had major brake repair done in March. End of October, my rear brakes are grinding. I make an appointment to take it back for 11:00 on November 9th. I get in and the Service Manager on duty, a young lady was not very welcoming and had my step-daughters info instead of mine. When I corrected her, she got offended. Then, after they reviewed the car, I was told that my brake line had broken and that there was no technician at this location who could do the repair and that I would have to go to 26 and Cicero or Bedford Park for the repair. I was also told that it looks like only the right side rear brakes were repaired. I also asked that during the inspection wouldnt the lines have been inspected especially given the age of the car. The young lady wanted to argue that it was 8 months ago and that the inspection wouldnt have revealed that. I ask can you get me a ballpark about how much this repair would cost. I was told that I would have to wait until it was taken over to 26th street and get an estimate and just handed my key. I wasnt given any information as to getting the car towed to the other store. left the store and maneuvered home safely.That manager that I dealt with today is the face of that store and I will not do any other business with that location.

Every time I pass by this location and attempt to get an oil change. Same story, 3+ hour wait. Ive had my car serviced by pep boys for 2+years. They can get you in quick for $1,000 jobs, but oil changes , forget about it. This company needs a quick service drive in like speedway. Why should I have to wait for someone to get an engine replaced just to get a basic oil change. Ive been baffled for years. All the location are plagued with this terrible system. Waves at upper management, us consumers need a lil help here.

I was so frustrated today with this location. Car sat all day in the shop without work getting done to it or approval from the warranty provider. When I called the warranty provider said the manager was on lunch at 2pm and measurements for the car was never sent by the manager. No way it should take a two day process to get approval from warranty provider and work done to the car. I get it’s a process but Pep Boy’s appeared to me they was dragging there feet. Manager told me she had called and once I called the warranty place they said that wasn’t true. Then when she was confronted she changed her story. My experience with this location and Matteson location has not been great! Hopefully my situation gets taking care of tomorrow or once again I will call corporate.

They did a great job with tires that I purchased. Tire pressure light came on soon after. I brought my vehicle back and the gentleman told me I need a new tire pressure gage. He priced it at $104. He took too long to change it so I left. A miracle has taken place, the tire pressure light hasn’t come on again since I brought my vehicle back. Either a miracle took place or there was nothing the matter with my tire pressure gage. My advice to those of who may need work done to your car, look for another place. This was my only experience with Pep Boys but I’m tired of bad customer service and dishonest strategies to make some extra sales. Beware I repeat beware.

So I decided to go for it and buy all 4 .i did how ever told the girl I wanted my old tires back since to begin with I only wanted to buy two .she a sure me they will have them for me . When I came back for my car my bill ended up around $1,000 and they had lost my tires .. I was very upset about it and even talked to the manager who had me call back 4 times to see if they found them .yet they didnt they only found 2 and you guessed it it was the two that where no good. Im never coming back to this place .you would expect after spending so much money you would get a good service and not just as sorry we lost your tires ...
