My sons have taken vehicles here for a few years, I always thought it was a bit pricey, and always takes longer than the timeline they give you. Always. Recently my son took his charger, they quoted him one price then came out with another price. Told him it be ready next day, was not. He was without a vehicle for 6 days. He picked up his car and it rattles, sounds bad, hes so afraid to take it back and be charged more, again. Or be left without a vehicle for another week. I hate it when people try to take advantage of young kids, hes a teenager, trying to let him do his own thing and become a man, but my goodness dont take advantage of them because theyre young. Im sure this is the last $$ you saw from my boys, because theyve spent a lot of their hard earned money there for years, and alwasy came back, against my will, but they did. Disappointed in this shop for sure.

Amazing service they did a head gasket and flange gasket repair on my ram 1500. They replaced a bolt that fell out. Great price & extremely friendly. The owner Carl, Ed and the entire team are on point and if your looking for a great place to do repairs at a reasonable price look no further. Other places I called said my work would take 4 days to an entire week. I brought it here 1.5 days and they were done and high quality work. Will definitely come back for other repairs in the future.

Ive known this place 25 years and been going to them all this time taking my car in which they have taken very good care of my car. They are up front and will let you know whats your price may be but sometimes some issues may come up with your car in they will let you know and what the cost may be and to continue or not. They are very good at explaining the problem about your car.

Carl the owner is a good reasonable person. The secretary was very nice. I probably talked her head off. The mechanic was professional and made sure I was good to go. This shop quoted a different charge upfront but tried switching the price after service. I told them I didnt agree to the new charge but they insisted. I told them I will call the police to resolve this issue. Thet asked for me to pay the original cost and never comeback. Customers be warned this place is worst than a bate and switch. Get a written agreement before work is done

They made a price with my brother and wanted to take advantage of me because my brother was not there when I came to pick up my car. You wouldn’t believe they made a $150 price with my brother to change my battery and my alternator. When I came to pick up my car without my brother they gave me a $500+ price for their services. This is a really bad shop, never take your car there because they are scams. They only try to rip people’s money.

Every time I go there, they are helpful and I can trust them with my vehicle, so far so good!

When I first tried them several years ago I had issues with the mechanics not understanding what I was communicating to them. I tried them again about six months ago and have gone back several times since and have been very pleased. They have done quality work at a reasonable price.

Took my car in for a diagnostic, diagnostic was fine but pricey, $70, everyone was nice who we interacted with. I opted to take my vehicle elsewhere for the service they recommended because it was $150 cheaper. The reason for the low stars is they did not put mats down when they drove the car. There is oil and dirt spots on my driver and passenger floor, as well as an oil hand print on the passenger door. I understand they have to drive it around but for the prices they charge they can put some paper or plastic mats down.

I found this place online also I drove by it many times. The owner Carl is a Super nice guy. Very friendly mechanics and Carl is up front with you. They are restoring my first baby an old 58 Ford Fairlaine. I look forward to seeing her up and running like back in her former glory.I cant remember the mechanics names but they are very knowledgeable. They will not steer you wrong on stuff that is wrong or broken.Every time I go in to check on my car either Carl or one of the other friendly staff is always happy to let me go see the progress on my car. Also Carl is taking pics of the progress as they work on my car which is really cool!!!!!I highly recommend this place if you have a classic car or a modern car. For all the stuff they are doing to my 58 I know its going to take some time. But Im not in a hurry.I am very happy and I feel welcomed every time I go here.

Came to get my brakes done. They checked all brakes, confirmed that I only needed my rear brakes done, and then also fixed a wheel stud I forgot needed to be fixed. It took just a bit longer than originally estimated, but the price was about as low as could be. The staff was friendly and courteous. They performed their jobs with excellence.

They charge honest hours, search for the best prices on parts (including junkyards for older vehicles), and treat the customers with dignity and respect. In fact, one if our early impressions of them over a decade ago was that they treat women the same as men, regardless of age.

This place is a joke. I went over there and got an estimate for 5k, then 3 days later they called me and they say my car needs more work on it and they changed the estimate from 5k to 8k. So I decided to pick it up my car as is.. they havent done nothing . Then the worse part is when they charged me 4k for doing NOTHING on my car... And if I dont pay I DIDNT get my car back.

Carl, business owner, quoted me $250 for AC warranty repairs and gave me a bill for $905. Thats a difference of $655. When I questioned the excessive added amount, I was told that was the bill. If you want your car today, I would have to pay the total amount.I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place is dishonest and a poor example of good customer service.Oh! one more thing. It took the shop 14 day to repair my car.

My car was in bad shape. I changed the battery and it wouldn’t stay on. I drove it like that to performance auto. The engine light was not on, but they diagnosed the problem within 30 minutes and fixed my car. I can not be more appreciative. Bring your car to performance automotive on marbach and get the job done right. Honest people. Reasonable price. I will go there again.

I ve been working on cars as a hobby for decades, my first overhaul V8 motor in the 1950;s as a teen was a 1949 Ford flat head..I did Ac, brakes,suspensions,electrical,body work and paint but as I age I dont have the physical ability to do all that now .if you like your car and plan on keeping it for a while..do the maintenance on it,,when it breaks down and you cant fix it, I suggest having real mechanics to do the job,,the cost may be more but the work is right,, other auto repair shops around the area may be cheaper,,but the could be using cheaper parts and the techs may not know the job...go to the guys who do it right..these guys here ..its what they do...

My Mother in Law used this mechanic for general diagnostics and service, including transmission. The invoice showed base transmission was replaced by a lower mileage rebuild. After continuing to have difficulty, two subsequent mechanics, including a transmission specialist could not identify any new or rebuilt parts on the vehicles transmission.

The guys there are awesome! I would send my mother there for work on her car.

I took in my car because it wasnt shifting gears and I told the manager I suspected there was some electrical issue and agreed to leave my car overnight. The Manager agrees to take a look at it for me does so, and when I inform him the next day that I wont be able to put any work into my car due to financial issues, he offers to test my relays regardless, free of charge. They discover its just a bad relay and send me on my way a happy camper. this could have cost me a couple of hundred dollars in electrical diagnostic tests and whatnot. Thank you so much! You guys are Awesome!

Used to be a excellent place. They would keep your vehicle for almost a week, but fix everything right. Last few times I went in they kept it for a week. got my vehicle back and found parts were not reinstalled and missing. Interior was damaged. Things that were working when it went in were not working now. Kept taking it back, they hold it for another week. Get charged more. And the problem still exist. If you have to bring your vehicle back it should be made a priority, not be put at the back of the list and make you be without a vehicle for another week. Especially on the third time you bring it back for the same problem that wasnt repaired properly.

Had a problem on a hectic monday morning. Great service with super customer support. Fixed the problem, had me on the road in a couple hours at a reasonable price! If you want great service, pricing & customer service...this is the place for auto repair!

I trust them so much that when I had car trouble in San Marcos, I had my car towed back to San Antonio because I didnt want any other mechanic. This place was the most frustrating experience I have ever had with any car I have ever had. We took our car to get the shift fixed, and it took them 3 separate occasions to fix it. Then, they offered to do a free oil change, and the shift was loose again. They supposedly changed our oil but did not reset our alert in the car, and now...the car will not start!If you dont know how to fix something just share that. The people were nice but completely incompetent when it came to our Ford. I would NOT recommend this place for more major repairs.

Performance Automotive is the only place I trust for all my auto needs.I have been taking my personal and business vehicles to them for a few years now. The prices are very reasonable, they keep me up to date on the status, the staff is friendly and Knowledgable. I have had another shop quote me a price of $1200. I called Performance and the total bill was less than $150. You can bet they have my business for life. I would and have recommended them to friends and family.

Overpriced for no reason. Simple (inaccurate) diagnosis costs 70 bucks, not to mention that takes 3 business days just to see what’s wrong. Claimed something was wrong with my sway bar links, so I agreed to pay around 400 to have it shipped and fixed ASAP since transportation is a necessity. Turned out that wasn’t it and found out the hard way when my drive shaft was broken. Seems to me they really don’t look at what’s wrong and just eat your money. Rather go to “El Gato” on marbach, much more reliable and free inspection to see what’s wrong.

Im so glad I found this place. They can fix anything on my desiel truck and my wifes car. We are both very pleased with Performance Automotive. They have taken care of normal maintence and also fixed major problems for us. About a year ago they even rebuilt my trucks transmission and its still running great.

I have had two great experince with this auto shop. The first time they fixed my Jeep when mo one esle could figure it out, it was the computer. They nice but they over charge, they fixed my water pump and thermostat and then said he didnt think it was my heads.... I took my car there to get check and they never once looked at my heads they jus checked my oil levels and charged 65$ for that and then said that they couldnt tell me if the heads were bad unless the waterpumps was done all in all i paid 400$ and for him to say my heads are bad after he got his money i Will never go up there again and o dont recommend no one else to.

These guys are gangsters. They will charge you for work that they didnt even do. I brought my car into there to get repaired and in two days the same problem existed. I made my friend who is a mechanic take a look and he said the parts that they said they replaced was still the old stock. I also noticed my shades were missing from my glove box. Please be careful before brining your car here or if you do, at least know enough about cars to ensure they dont steal from you. I brought my car twice to this place. Never again.

Im from Tampa, Fl. I came to San Antonio to visit my son. Last night, my steering wheel and ignition locked up on me, I had to have my car towed back to my hotel. Ive called so many Mercedes repair shops today and nobody was open. I just called Performance Automotive on Marbach Rd and they attempted to help me FOR FREE over the phone. When what they suggested didnt help, the man on the phone said he was sending the OWNER of the shop to me! I could cry Im so relieved to have someone help me when Im stuck 1200 miles from home and dont know anyone here.Ill post another review after the owner helps me for an update.

Beware of this place they busted my ac condenser then tried charging me for there mistake then they finally said they’ll fix and refill it if I bought the condenser which was $100 out of my pocket then after dropping it off they call me and say they don’t carry my r1234 Freon or the tip it needs to be filled so I’d be out of pocket for the recharge which can be several hundred so plz beware of this place

TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic.Well unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options.Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carls prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED.2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled burnt, rotten eggs (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had exploded. Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery.Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughters birthday party in 4 days. We didnt need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal.I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan.TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!!

Rebuilt my transmission didnt even last a yr and it went bad again then they called tell diffrent things everytime called 3 diffrent trans shops and all said same thing they did not fix it!!!!!! Never go to that shop crooks!!!!!
