This cozy spa is a renovated old house off of Broadway. The ambiance is exactly what you would want from a spa - soothing, hushed and peaceful. The front desk gal called my fiance and I the day before to remind us to come in early to fill out paperwork so we could have the maximum amount of time for our massage. We had the Couples Date Night package and were put up in the Sapphire room. Everything in this spa is clean and relaxing. We had therapists Patrick and Garrett. This was our first massage and I felt comfortable the entire time. They walked us both through how everything was going to go, consulted us on what areas of focus wed prefer, and made each transition very smooth. Garrett did a wonderful job with making sure not to use too much pressure on me, as I am sensitive, and made sure to listen to my needs throughout the service. Afterwards we got to sit in a little quiet nook to enjoy a beverage and a chocolate treat. I want to come back soon for other services. 10/10 would recommend.

Place was nice and remodeled and staff was friendly. Massage was very subpar, and my wife’s massage therapist would not stop talking the entire time. I had mentioned my lower back was the only place giving me problems, my massage therapist spent half the time pinching my neck until I told him I was in pain and not enjoying it. My wife also had requested a female massage therapist, but we get there and it’s a male. An hour couples massage and champagne was around $340. Not worth the price and a lack of communication/attention to detail.

Wonderful experience. Did the side by side massage. Everyone was friendly. Was offered something to drink apon arrival, I was served tea. Environment was beautiful and clean. Room we had our massage was awesome loved the crystals on the walls, that was a different experience..they had containers for our clothes which I thought was neat, instead of putting a pile of clothes on the floor. I felt very relaxed during massage, and felt sleepy afterwards 😴 Enough pressure was applied, which is hard for me to find people that really get in there and work my muscles to get the knots out.. You get to choose pressure preference. I will be back! Maybe even try something else like a facial next time 😊 I did want to note that they said we could slide our masks down when face down, so we could breath(harder to breathe when laying face down with mask), just need to put back on mask when face up.. So they are doing best to help keep everyone safe, but yet be comfortable.Thank you all for the lovely experience, I look forward to coming back in the future.

Me and and a date went to get a couples massage it was the best hospital massage environment I have ever been in. We got to go into the coolest room I have ever seen, you would just have to go to see it cant be explained but just great energy room. The massage therapist I had was wonderful observant of what I needed and I felt wonderful afterwards. I would highly recommend this place and after our Dat of massage we got truffles and choices of alcohol tea or water. We will 100% be back! Thanks again!

Not really worth it to get a massage with a mask on, couldn’t breath and felt like I was suffocating. The massage was also very eh (with Jennifer) and the room was cold most of the time especially with the deep blue cream. I was practically shivering except when the hot pack felt like it scalded my back.

Wow, I had the most amazing experience at Zama on Thursday! I booked 3 sessions, started with a massage by Liza, moved onto a pedicure with someone whose name Im unsure of, and finished with a facial by Liza. Liza is AMAZING, I truly cant say enough good things about her both as a massage therapist and as an esthetician. I will definitely be back and I will be asking for her specifically. The only thing that couldve made my experience better would be for the spa to have individual bottles of water available either for free or purchase. Being there for 3.5 hours and not having access to water was a bit rough for me personally.

Had a Couples massage here. Relaxing and focused on stiff muscles/knots. Highly recommend. Can be light or extra firm. The hot stones were my favorite !!

Hmm. Well I had a hydra facial here last year and it was great and relaxed. This time it was SO aggressive! also my esthetician (tien) told me to toothpaste on my zit to make it go down. I am a skin care aficionado and I have never in my life been told to put toothpaste on my face other than in my mouth. I even said that’s not a good idea it will burn your skin and she said no she does it to her own face.She was very very sweet but so much more aggressive than I remember it being last year and pretty uncomfortable. The results of the hydrafacial are beautiful of course, I just don’t know about the esti.Also extremely disappointed in their covid Safety procedures. No masks or shields unless requested. I am vaccinated as are they, however that doesn’t seem to matter with the new variant.Overall I recommend the service and the spot is convenient - they seem to have a high turnover in their staff and they could do more to be safer. 3.5 out of 5.

I leave this place feeling like a happy melted marshmallow. So far I have booked with Logan and Kenny. Both magic men with magic hands. I specifically like my massages deeep.. like you cant hurt me haha. I love that they both get those nasty knots from working in an office all day. Also, they have cupping!Side note - my friend said she thought the front desk person was rude which is why they wont go back but that person must be gone. The front desk people have always been super friendly to me. So if you have had that experience I recommend giving this spot another chance.

Ive been going to Zama Massage since 2017, and I enjoy the atmosphere. The salt cave rooms are beautiful and very relaxing, but even a massage in one of their regular rooms is lovely. My favorite treatment is a 90-minute deep tissue with hot stone add-on or cupping add-on (I wont do cupping in warmer weather, though, as it can leave bruises that scare folks). COVID has changed a lot of policies but I think they do a great job at making the experience feel safe and sanitary. I would also make sure that you book far enough in advance, as they can get booked up quickly, and to be reasonably flexible as far as which therapist you go to. I have had several therapists over the years at Zama, as people do sometimes move out of the city or to other massage therapy centers. Pre-COVID I had my first facial treatment here and that was absolutely delightful; I look forward to trying this again once fully vaccinated!

Beautiful environment. Amazing massage. Renee was a delight. I enjoy feeling the massage a little deeper due to a previous injury in my shoulder. Renee did an excellent job balancing this without making it feel like a deep tissue massage which is a little too deep for my comfort. She mentioned she was heavier handed at the beginning and continued to check that the pressure was okay for me which I appreciated.

My session was canceled while I was driving there. The therapist did not show up. Im glad I didnt have to pay all that money for an unreliable therapist

Cory made me cry...tears of joy from the relief. Exceptionally skilled and intentional. In the past, I’ve had massage therapists who were not fully engaged - not Cory he is 110% there with you. Had a 90 Min Halo Massage this evening. He was so in tuned with where my physical pain was and addressed it perfectly. Impressive to understand the human body like that. Pandemic stress did a number on my head, neck and right shoulder. Had hip pain for YEARS and nobody has got in there like that. He’s very strong yet delicate and you feel safe to truly rest your head. I feel like a new human. I’m telling everybody about him. Best best best.

Meh, We went for a Salt Room Couples Massage. Everything just seemed a bit grimy from the waiting room to the salt room to the foot therapy room. The massage left us both very sore for over a week, especially my husband. He is a big guy and asked from a good amount of pressure, but it was all elbows in knots - so it didnt fix the issue, just hurt. The foot massage I could have done at home. I gave an extra star for how friendly the staff is, but i will not be going back

I scheduled a prenatal massage two days prior to my appointment and filled out the online check-in paper as requested. When I arrived I was told my therapist was sick, that they tried to contact me, and I could not be seen for my appointment time. The number they had on file was wrong and they never emailed me, which was my requested form of contact when I filled out their paperwork online. Very disappointed as this is the second place Ive had cancel appointments during my pregnancy. Would not recommend as they do not honor appointments or your preferred form of contact to get you rescheduled.

Im blown away by the staff and quality of this spa. I had the CBD package and every part was completely catered to me and was absolutely the best spa experience. The pedicure was the best pedicure that I have ever had and the polish they use stays for so long! The masseuse was so professional and I felt like she was actually listening to the issues I had with my shoulder and worked that area to most and actually helped my issue. I received my first facial ever and it was truly wonderful, my skin still feels fantastic. And all with COVID happening, I felt like they handled themselves and their clients with extreme professionalism while still providing an amazing experience. THANK YOU !!

I cannot recommend Zama enough. I booked a sports massage with Cory and it was the best massage of my life. I had been incredibly sore for over a week from hiking. After the massage, the pain was gone and I felt amazing! I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This has been my go-to place for years. Even the waiting room is super cozy and inviting. The tea (Good Earth Sweet & Spicy, FYI) is delicious, and the atmosphere is pleasant.Just about every time Ive gone Id had a different massage therapist and while Ive preferred some over others, its definitely a half dozen of one, 6 of the other. Theyve all been wonderful and well worth the reasonable fees they charge. Ive had a few of the different services beyond massages, and everything has been world-class. You cant go wrong with this place.Tips:Theres parking in the back for about 4-5 cars. Its never been full for me so far; so if you dont like street parking or its full, thats an option.

I have a hard time relaxing and my mind races so its unusual that I leave a spa treatment feeling this relaxed. Massage therapists and estheticians have always been a gamble for me. This time I won. The entire staff was wonderful, including the front desk. I got the Divine Spa Ritual which includes a massage, facial and pedicure. These services arent your go-to normal boring ones either. Kim was my masseuse and she gave me the perfect balance of a therapeutic and relaxation massage. I felt so rested afterward. Then Natashia did my facial and pedicure. She was so good, she made extractions relaxing. Not kidding. I loved it. These ladies have a magic touch. I rebooked with both of them, and thats huge for me because my insurance covers massages elsewhere but Zama has me hooked. I havent been this relaxed in a very long time!

OMGThis place is fabulous, the minute you walk in the door the atmosphere is warm and relaxing. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and not pushy, I appreciate this.Every thing was very professional and immaculate.This was a very special treat for our daughters birthday, we had an hour and a half massage in the salt room. Absolutely love this place. I’ve been for a couple facials and a handful of massages. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. Scheduling can be done online, making it super easy. I love that they offer tea or water whenever I’m in. You can get a massage surrounded by Himalayan salts. How cool is that?!

Ariel gave an amazing massage. I appreciated that she didnt try to talk to me. Had a couples massage and my partner was disappointed with her massage from Gabriel. Didnt use enough lotion and so it was dry and painful. Too much time jabbing her armpit and very poor technique in general. Gabriel was also pretty awkward and kept saying weird things like if you dont like the pressure, just say pressure check. Yes thank you Gabriel, we know how words work.

Alex was amazing. Knowledgeable guy with Fabio technique. I came in with a ton of pain and even though we only had an hour he was able to get it all to release. I can even feel my big toes again. My wife and I loved this place. The converted old home didnt look like much from the outside but the inside changed everything. The reception area was warm and inviting. Our massage therapists were friendly and professional. The room we went to for the side by side massage was so cool. The walls and ceiling looked like they were covered with rock, bit were lit from behind. It felt like being a warm, inviting cave. And the massage? Wow. Worth every penny!!

Went and had a couples massage today. The front desk are extremely sweet and quick to offer a drink. Cory and Patrick were amazing and really listened to what we wanted. The building is nice and quiet. Definitely will he going back and requesting those two. The only negative thing I can think of is the massage oil. Afterwards it smells like mildew towels and is difficult to get the smell off even after a shower. If I could suggest something to the owner it would be get scented oil. Other than that 5 stars!

I adore Zama, I have been going for quite awhile. I have always enjoyed my massage person, but when I found Sarah, I found my match! She is so attentive, and caring. She seems to always know exactly what I need!! I will continue to go for my monthly maintenance, as long as she is there!! I always feel refreshed, and renewed and relaxed after every visit. I enjoyed the salt cave during my last session, its not only beautiful, but very relaxing! Keep up the good work Zama!

I unfortunately did not have a good experience here. Based on the quality of the massage and experience within the spa, it was overpriced and very disappointing. Within the massage room itself it was drafty and the linens were uncomfortable and thin, so it was hard to relax. Both the staff and my masseuse were nice, but there was a level of professionalism that the masseuse seriously lacked. She did not take any care to fully cover me up while on the massage table—as in she basically pulled the cover down and didn’t keep it tucked in place. Even when I tried to pull the covers up over myself a few times she kept pushing them down and getting the massage oils on my garments. I was hoping to keep conversation to a minimum but she was super chatty.As for the massage itself, it was supposed to be deep tissue. She basically used her elbow and forearm to outline my spine and shoulder blades for 60 minutes, barely changing her technique even when I asked her more than once to make adjustments and focus on the muscle groups and knots in my shoulders that were giving me pain in particular. It was in no way what I would have expected from a deep tissue massage because she didn’t actually target any deep muscle pain. She continued to do the same movements for the rest of the massage and didn’t seem to listen to my concerns. I left the massage feeling no better than when I arrived—and honestly a little worse due to my bones continuously being pressed on.I would not recommend going here if you’re looking for massage therapy, unless you are already know a provider who does good work. The quality of service I received didn’t match up with the price.

Today I took my boyfriend to Zama Massage for his birthday. We enjoyed a wonderful session in the Himalayan Salt room and then to a couples side by side massage. He added the warm cocoa butter and I added the cupping. We both felt relaxed and refreshed afterwards and felt that this experience was totally worth it. The large house was very charming, the complimentary tea was delicious and you really can feel a difference after breathing in the salt air. I highly recommend them for a special occasion or to just relax with someone special. We would love to visit again.

Had a great experience at Zama for my first massage! The staff was super nice and the environment had a very homey relaxing feel.I went in to try and find relief from chronic low back pain that was effecting all aspects of my life. I had a deep tissue massage with Megan that has helped tremendously. I don’t know if it was just the massage or the advice she gave(she was very informative on what I could do at home to help) but it’s been a week and my back is feeling so much better! I will definitely be back! Thank you Megan!

Love this place. All the massage therapists Ive seen (which is now about 8) are so skilled. Ive never left disappointed. They also always offer complimentary aromatherapy and incorporate hot towels as part of the massage session. Its also just a lovely space. Highly recommend.

We stopped for a couples massage on our honeymoon (the couples Date Night package) and the ladies at Zama did not disappoint! They were very professional and it was an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. If I ever visit Portland again I will be back.

I come here often with a friend for spa days. We usually get a deep tissue massage. We have also had facials and I’ve had my brows and lashes tinted and a manicure. Staff is nice and Its a convenient location. We’ve had mostly good service but once an MT almost really hurt me from improper pressure on my neck and spine. I got off the table and ended it immediately. That only happened once but it was scary!

Cory and Rebecca are absolutely hands down wonderful LMTs. We so enjoyed our couple massage in the most beautiful salt room. Highly recommend. Pedicure was nice too.

Zama is now the ONLY spa that I will go to. i got an hour massage in the salt caves and I came out feeling like a new woman, no lie. The staff are all so kind and professional. The spa is so cute and quaint but does not skimp on style and luxury. Underwhelmed following so many amazing reviews...I’m a believer in the power of good massage and have always gone for them wherever I’ve moved. For my husband’s birthday I booked a couples massage in the halo room. We arrived 15mins early to give time to do our details as requested and the tea whilst doing so was nice. However the therapists were a bit late showing and then took our details separately and led us to the room almost as though we weren’t together which felt kind of odd for a couples massage. By the time they had us on the bed it was nearly 10mins in to the massage. There was no intro to the halo room which was totally the reason I chose to come to Zama and when I asked they just pointed out the pipe sticking out of the wall. We had both described pain in the back and shoulders which we wanted tackled and I didn’t feel like that was the focal point of my massage. Whilst I had some relief it definitely was not to the extent my previous regular place used to give me. My therapist also kept talking during the massage making it hard to relax. Husband did enjoy his which I was pleased about. At the end there was also a bit of a sales pitch for the products they sell in their waiting room. All in all I felt it was expensive for what was basically a 50min massage in a room covered in salt tiles and did not deliver the premium experience I was expecting. Guess I will just have to keep on looking for my Portland massage spotEdit: after writing this review the owner reached out to me to ask me to try their services again. I appreciate that response and am not sure when we will have the chance to do so but will amend my review accordingly

We loved Zama day spa! We both got awesome massages that left us feeling like pudding. The space was clean and quiet.

Once you walk in the people at Zama make you feel comfortable. I have had two massages there now and compared to the other places will only be going there for future massages. The receptionist is warm and welcoming making the start of your experience relaxing and stress free. I have told numerous friends about Zama and they all have came back with the same recommendation.

Great place for a spa day with your friends or an after work treat alone to unwind. I came with a few coworkers and we each got 60 minute massages with manis and pedis. It was fabulous! The staff was wonderful and the facility was an Oasis retreat in an urban environment.

I was totally impressed by Krystal S. !! She specializes in long/thick hair ... I came in with long, thick, heavy hair and left floating ... definitely going back... the salon is beautiful, modern and cozy!

My experience at Zama has always been extraordinary. I have been getting deep tissue work done with Brittany for several years and she is the poster child of professionalism and excellence. I can think of no one person, nor business, that deserves a five star rating more.

I have had nothing but fantastic experiences here. Its a warm and calming environment right when you walk in the door. I have been to Jen several times for facials and she is absolutely AMAZING! She makes my skin glow. Jen also provides an incredible massage along with the facials (many places dont). Both Jen and the staff there are very knowledgeable about the products, but they have never busy pushy in selling them. This Spa far outweighs any other that I have experienced in the the Portland area.

Was my first time in a salt cave & I am going back in a few days because the whole experience was amazing. I also had the cups which was something new for me & it was great as well. I was only there for 60 min this visit but I will be going for a 90 min visit in a couple of days. It was an all around great experience & I would recommend it to anyone who needs pain relief or just to relax.

I started going due to general stiffness due to a life of long distance running and heavy lifting.I have worked with Megan for the entire year and have to say it has been a wonderful experience. My wife and I went for a 60 minute couples massage. We both loved it. It was my first time there and ,Morgan, my technician was great! She definitely worked on the areas I had mentioned. I would recommend it and I will be going back.

Jayce is amazing! I get a theraputic massage from them about every other week and it has really helped my neck. I had a 10lb box fall on my neck and shoulders last April and in the past month and a half, since Ive started working with Jayce, Ive finally seen huge improvements, have been experiencing much less chronic pain, and a great increase in recovery time when I do push my limits. My favorite room is the Himalayan salt. The entire room is encrusted in Himalayan salt crystals. It feels like a warm, dim, glow that surrounds you deep in your soul. I love it! I dont recommend the CBD massage unless you use CDB on a daily basis. This is a chemical that needs to be in your system for about two weeks as it builds up in your system.

I was first introduced to Zama when I received a deep tissue massage as a birthday gift. Its been a few months since that original session, and I am now a regular monthly customer. The facilitates are clean, the atmosphere is soothing and relaxing, and the massage therapists (Ive seen Stacy Jo and Brenda - both fantastic) are extremely attentive and responsive to individual needs. I have also added on the cupping procedure a few times which has been great for tension in my neck and shoulders. I highly recommend Zama Massage and am thankful to have a reputable and affordable option in Portland.

I have been getting massages at some of the best spas in the world monthly for about 7 years but never been to a spa in a house before however this was one of the most tranquil, beautiful experiences Ive ever had. The staff was accommodating and warm. My massage therapist (Weston) was in the top three I have ever had the pleasure of being massaged by. I would recommend this place to anyone and would drive from Seattle where I live to Portland just to come here.

The new office is great (although some notice that they had moved would have been helpful when I had booked my appointment, I went to the old location and ended up late). I splurged and got my first ever 90 min massage and it was sooo worth it! Eric did a great job of making sure I was comfortable and addressing my concerns. I understand that therapeutic and deep massage (hurts so good!) is often necessary to feeling better and resolving issues but sometimes you want to just relax and be able to enjoy it. He did a wonderful job of finding the balance between the two. I left feeling wonderful. Ive already been talking to friends and clients about going to see him. Thank you!

I got my brows and eyelashes dyed of the first time and IT WAS AWESOME. Zama is a beautiful place. It was peaceful and warm on a cold rainy day and I loved it. Emily did such a wonderful job and the rest of the staff was cheerful and welcoming.

Front staff is absolutely amazing. I was greeted with professionalism and genuine care. This was my first ‘cupping’ massage and I couldn’t have been happier with the results. I will continue frequenting the spa.

Finest massage Ive had. Great knowledge of anatomy and therapeutic touch/pressure. The facial? Amazing! Full-on scalp, hands and feet massage while getting professional treatment for facial issues. Awesome!! And, they didnt try to sell me every single product they carried at check-out. Amazing... Thank you, Zama!

Love this place. This place is a bit pricey but worth it. I’ve tried several other massage places but none of them compare to this place. My first visit was due to a birthday gift since then I’ve been hooked. My favorite massage therapist is Gita she’s great!

Ive only been to Zama once, but it was terrific! I always have trouble trying to get a deep tissue massage thats actually deep enough to be effective, but this one was exactly what I needed! Felt great for a long time afterwards. Really enjoyed the calm feeling and tea served in the lobby while you wait. As a personal trainer, Ive referred several of my clients there, and they reported good experiences as well.

I absolutely love going to Zama! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. From hot stone massages to floats, they have it all. I definitely would recommend this business to anyone looking for some self healing/relaxation.

It couldnt be any worse.. before massage they ask you size of robe and slippers and after massage is done, they just tell you to dress up and leave. No towels provided or showers to clean up all the cocoa butter they put on your body. Ridiculous. Definitely never coming back and wouldnt recommend to anyone. Destroyed my clothes.. Valentine’s special is a disaster.Btw, beds are super uncomfortable as well. My neck was literally on a metal piece.

Zama treated me well - I left refreshed and glowy!Foot Scrub / Massage and body massage by Eric were great. Both services were approximately 30 minutes.Jen gave me a wonderful facial, along with great advice on how to take care of my skin after leaving Zama.Id certainly return.

Ive had a couple of massages here and every time I go I have a nice, relaxing experience! The front desk person is always very courteous and will offer you water or tea, and Ive had massages from different massage therapists here, with great results across the board. I definitely recommend Zama!

Just got a superb massage from Katie. I have gone to a number of LMTs who have not been able to go deep enough. On our first session, Katie nailed it. Highly recommend her.

Ive been getting regular facials at Zama since Oct 15 - with the occasional massage - and my skin has never looked better or been more resilient. The staff is always so kind and accommodating, and the atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. Emily and Abby both do wonderful work, and respect your own skins individual nuances while making great recommendations, without any attempts at up-selling or price gouging. They also stock incredible products that Im happy to invest in to keep my skin glowy.Ive recommended the facility to my friends, some of whom have taken my word on it and have reported back favorably. Ill continue coming here to take care of my skin and body, and am excited to recommend it to friends traveling into town for my wedding this Sept, looking for a pick-me-up after a long day of travel : )

I was referred to Zama by my chiropractor after a horrible car accident when I was 8 months pregnant. By the time my sessions were through, I had found the silver lining in that traumatic experience! Their hours are amazing, the studio quiet and LOW KEY. This is a place you go for a therapeutic massage - not the kind of place that does a wimpy job whilst playing chimes hoping that the music and fancy bathrobes distract you enough to not notice they arent that great.PS. I should add that this studio is set up to handle any insurance related billing. I was so surprised at how easy that part was because I really expected a hassle.

First, this is not Charles - its Judith (we share an e-mail). My husband gifted me with a trip to Zama for my 60th birthday. The experience was totally wonderful. From the relaxed atmosphere in the entry to the quite, well appointed room, the setting was peaceful. Im embarrassed to say I dont remember the name of the therapist but she did an excellent job with the foot massage and followed up with strength on the deep tissue massage. She made suggestions for follow-up with my particular stress points. I also appreciated the low-key approach regarding the products they have for sale. They were offered but not pushed. I look forward to reliving the experience fer soon.

I feel kinda let down after getting the couples spa package here. We started with a foot/leg massage. This was nice. Mine was a bit painful- her thumbs were insanely strong and found every single sore spot on my shin. But Im gonna guess that was a good thing? The boyfriend loved his. Next we headed to our cocoa butter massage. We sat in an awkwardly small room on a tiny couch for 20 minutes before anyone came and got us. Our massages were wonderful. Both of the masseuses did a wonderful job. This was for sure the highlight of the whole thing. However, we didnt get the cocoa butter treatment. No warm, chocolate lotion and no relaxing sit in the copper room with chocolate and cider. Next we went back to the small, awkward room to sit in our robes for 15 minutes before our facials. I think maybe the form we filled out didnt go with us or wasnt seen by the people who did our facials. My boyfriend has never got one done before and had no idea what an extraction was. After I explained it to him he adamantly said he did not want that. Yet, his entire facial consisted of just extractions. He had no idea what was happening until it was too late. The poor guy now looks like his forehead was viciously attacked. My facial was just fine. She rubbed some pretty thick lotion into my hair, which Im not thrilled with.At the end, I asked the receptionist about our massage and she knocked 10% off, which was nice. But for $500, I wish I left feeling wow that awesome rather than I wish we had just got massagesIt was good and I recommend them but..idk. Not $500 good.
