I came in to get my hair done by Morgan and I can not rave enough!!!! I let her do what she thought would look good on me and I think she nailed it! I’m in love with this!!! Go RUN to see Morgan!!! First time! Walking in as they opened, I was cheerily greeted by several folks who all made eye contact. After a little schedule snafoo I was lucky to sit in Alexs chair. SO happy I got him! Ive never had a full shampoo and cut service from a guy before and he was gentle and confident in handling my mid-length curly hair. His teacher was running EVERYWHERE (no clue how she supports everyone with such an even, patient tone) and made sure to be there when he needed assistance.I got 3-4 inches cut with side bang framing. Originally blocked off an hour and only needed 30 minutes. It was a FANTASTIC experience and I will 100% be going back for a perm with Alex.

It was a blast in there, very cool to be surrounded by people learning the ins and outs of cutting hair and to have just one or two teachers guiding their students perfectly the whole way through is impressive. It took time but youre getting a perfect cut, like its out of a textbook. I will definitely be returning to get my next haircut.

Brooke did a great job on my hair. She took her time and listened to what I wanted. The teachers were involved, professional and obviously caring.

They are students so I feel like they maybe care more about getting it right than just going to a regular salon. The students always ask their instructors for advice and leadership if they dont 100% for sure know what theyre doing. Theyre very thorough and kind. Ive had my hair done here three times and have loved the service and the result all three times. Its a great atmosphere.

I had a keratin hair treatment at Empire Beauty School. The outcome was fantastic! In fact, it was by far the best outcome for my hair compared to other salons and stylists. And, the price for the service was such a deal. Empire is obviously an excellent school because the work the students do with customers is notable. I’ll be back for hair services at Empire Beauty School for sure. I HIGHLY recommend this school/salon.

As a student my experience at Empire down on the salon floor has been incredible. The instructors are incredibly helpful along with my fellow classmates as well. We all are here to help one another and make every day go by smoothly!

I have been getting my hair cut and colored at Empires day and night salon for the past few years. I have always left pleased with the work done. The stylist consults with their instructor before beginning, and their work is checked several times during the process. It is a school, so when you go, you should expect it to take longer. However, their fees are more than reasonable, and they use high-quality products. I dont know why anyone would go and pay full-service prices. I highly recommend them.

This was my first haircut since before the pandemic lockdown occurred (over 16 months). My student stylist was very friendly and professional. I am very happy with my new cut! Its nice not to have my hair stabbing me in my eyes, getting in the way, or getting in my mouth. Lol. Im good for another pandemic.

Love this place. Students train for 18 weeks before they are allowed in the salon. I’d recommend coming here to get your hair colored, permed, or just a cut. Great teachers follow all the students progress. Reasonable prices too.

I had a great time at Empire Beauty School. I came with an idea of what I wanted to do and then Sarah exceeded my expectations of what I wanted. I left feeling very well of taken care of and confident that I was looking my best. The atmosphere while being in there was nothing but positivity and it got my day off to a really good start. I would definitely recommend going to Empire Beauty School student salon.

This school is fantastic! The quality of their services surpasses any salon I’ve spent a fortune at! Heidi is amazing! The students really look up to her and count on her for her expertise. I’ve seen Heidi run the salon floor like some of the finest salons I’ve been to in New York. She’s always composed and treats her students and customers with such respect!

Always a pleasurable experience and hardly ever a wait. From the front line desk to the actual cut the process is flawless. The instructors have always impressed me of their knowledge being handed down to the students if there are difficult cuts. I joined empire as a student a few years ago. I decided a career in cosmetology was something I wanted badly. I enrolled and fell in love immediately. They showed me more roots in the industry than I ever thought possible. It’s all about hair right? No! I had no idea what there were so many fun and creative things involved! This school has given me the keys to my domain and is helping me continue building my domain. I have recently joined the educator course the school offers to open up the teaching door. Because of this school I have been a successful hair stylist and make up artist with a few luxury cosmetic lines. I highly recommend this school based on my own experience and success. The great thing about getting your hair cuts here is all students are supervised by an educator who has far better skills than the average unsupervised stylist you find at a salon. Mrs. Daucette is a perfect example of a highly experienced professional, skilled in mens cuts too, that also has superb teaching skills. I always feel lucky for myself - and the student. Thumbs up.

I was a student and recently graduated. I have nothing but good things to say about the school, students, clients and teachers. The teachers are very very good with helping you with whatever you need, even if you’ve asked the questioned 5000 times. The students are always more than happy to help. The clients are understanding that students are working on them, 90% of the clients are repeats and have been coming for years. The teachers are amazing with helping no matter how long you’ve been in the Salon Level. They are so amazing. I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole life and the teachers did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable. They helped me believe in myself and never gave up. I feel 100% ready to be out in a salon by myself. 10/10 would recommend going to Empire for services or if you are interested in cosmetology school!

I was a student here. I have diagnosed learning and mental disabilities, and accommodations request by my psychiatrist and doctor. I was told they were more than prepared to work with me and that they had resources. They photocopied my psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis. My mom came with me so I could have a second opinion on all of this and we fully explained my adversities. We were reassured that this was a good investment and that I had a lot of potential. That I would fit in. This resonated deeply with both me and my mother. I hadn’t fit in during school and faced many issues with resources and had been ostracized by teachers and peers. We left in a positive mood.All they could offer was an extra classroom that I spent most of my time in, alone for long periods. There was no teaching aide, no resources for me or my teacher. It was suggested by my teacher that I drop and pursue other options. I was getting good grades but desperately needed the accommodations.My teacher and I organized a meeting to request through Empire!s disability program which I was not told existed until that day, and through the ADA. My treatment team and psychiatrist recommended that I be required mainly to learn what is essential to passing courses. I brought this up, as many techniques were not on exams, and I would be told that I “can’t pick and choose what I want to learn.” They copied my evaluation a second time, oddly. I broke down, frustrated and embarrassed at how difficult it is to advocate for myself. This was a disappointing resolution. Even just a few of my accommodations would have made a difference. I was asked if they could hug me, which I accepted since I for some reason felt guilty about pursuing this inconvenient request, and sent me on my way with paperwork I wouldn’t file, since I would drop out shortly after this meeting.On the drop out paperwork I was given, the reason they hand-wrote at the top, despite having physical copies of my diagnosis, was “ILLNESS, SELF”. As though to say I simply claimed to have an illness.Due to my disabling conditions, I struggle to hold gainful employment, and although my federal student loan was forgiven, the nearly $3,000 debt I owed for my non-returnable Empire kit was sent to collections after my conditions worsened and I have struggled to work at all. When I did work, I could only afford to pay $10 per week.Although I am not proud to admit it, I am in the process of applying for disability, as my conditions have become complicated despite treatment, and I wish they could understand that as someone who has struggled with these lifelong issues, my biggest dream was to be a student and learn skills to support myself. For someone with no income, knowing that part of the money I may get from benefits, that I would be more than thankful for, will have to go to Empire makes me humiliated, angry and means less for food and resources, which I am in desperate need of.If you have a learning disability and/or mental illness that requires accommodations, I would not recommend you go here. They do not have the resources or the compassion. Some are more easily managed than mine, but I was reassured they had the resources after they reviewed my official medical diagnosis.My teacher did her best, and so did I. I felt deeply guilty for how overwhelming it may have been for her. In many instances I feel that she was restricted by the institution’s rules and it would have benefited her to have resources for herself, since in the future they may have another disabled student. She was the only one who showed dedication and did her best to work with what we had. I excelled in the written tests as I was determined to succeed, studying for hours each day.But it wasn’t enough as I could not remember techniques and steps and was not able to get enough one on one instruction from my teacher, which I was told I would have. I was not allowed to come into the school when my teacher and other instructors were available for extra help, since I could not exceed the hours set for me by Empire.

They are very welcoming and nice. I did deep conditioning and flat iron before and they were excellent. I tried to get hair color and the girl basically didnt know what she was doing but she was a new student so cant blam her. Overall I will go there again because of the price and the welcoming environment.

Been coming for years, its a great price and provides an opportunity for artists to learn and grow in a positive space. If youre a perfectionist then go somewhere fancy. If you want to help people learn (with supervision) at a great price then look no further.

I was a little leary having a student cut and perm my hair, but.... Kas was the best! She listened to what I wanted and did a fabulous job. The place was nice and clean, everyone was friendly. I will go there again for sure.

Students work on your hair, thats why your there to give them time on their license.Ive been going to them when they used to be Pierres- never had a problem. Plus, I like the drop-in feature. Have some time and Im in that part of town- walk in and knockout a haircut. Cant beat the price.

Ordered real hair extensions almost 2 wks ago over $450 worth & Nicole has been doing my hair for 3 1/2 hrs shes absolutely wonderful !! So polite & doing such an amazing job !! I made an appointment for a simple haircut, a trim, maybe an inch or so. Made that quite clear to the student/stylist. Then, much to my amazement, I have 3 inches gone, one side a different length than the other, and some weird, kinda whack job in back. Really???? I had to stop her from cutting my hair, (STOP!) and left.The instructor said it was no charge after looking at the horrible results. (HA. Thanks a lot.)Yes. Hair grows back, but, this was not a good experience. AWFUL.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I get their students but the teachers are idiots. They did my facial In the middle of the salon under florescent lights with people walking around. The lady doing my facial was talking to other people going on her phone while I laid there with gunk on my face. I then was supposed to get my nails done. She didnt even take all the nail polish had on my nails off before she started painting them!!!! The teachers were completely oblivious and couldnt care less. I think thats why their teaching at empire instead of being actual stylists. Seriously dont waste your time. Even calling to try to make an appointment the idiot on the phone doesnt know what services they offer and then yells across the salon on the phone, than the teacher yells back!!!! Worst place to go ever. Go to Spatech in westbrook, or Cosmotech in westbrook. They are actually taught to be professionals.

I went and saw my friend Amber at Empire and she did an AMAZING job!! Couldn’t have asked for anything better! She did exactly what I asked for and replicated my inspiration photo perfectly!! She worked with her teachers with great communication to give me the results I desired. Everyone here is friendly and professional. I highly recommend you book an appointment with Amber!
