Let me start by saying that I went to Portland beauty school and graduated there two years ago with my aesthetics license. I received incredible service when I went and wanted to go back to pursue my cosmetology license. However the communication, disrespect and just plain rudeness that I have had multiple times with ELLA has completely turned me off and I will absolutely not be signing up for your program!!!!! I am honestly shocked that you get anybody to sign up for your program with her as the enrollment person. She has a zero customer service skills honestly just completely shocked I’ve worked in the customer service industry for 23 years and I am just disgusted by the service that I have received from her!!!!!

I am really very disappointed in your service Ella Aguilar, very bad !!! First of all, I am interested in enrolling in your academy but since you are in charge of giving service to people like me, I should be more friendly, flexible and educated !! It is the tip to attract people who want to overcome, it is the confidence that you must project to your clients so that they feel calm and confident at the pace they will take It is the second time that unfortunately I have to talk to you and sadly you Attitude hasnt changed at all since we first chatted! You should not have that Admissions Director position since your service is very bad!!!! The rating that your Academy beauty school supposedly has because of the poor service is a lie! I hope you are more objective and quality for the people who change their day through you Ella Aguilar!!!!

Really nice people. Actually here to help you and cares. Best fast and flexible schedules, and affordable. So I didn’t graduate in debt and have to work for years just to pay tuition. Definitely the key to my success! So lucky I found Portland Beauty Academy! Love them!

I got a full acrylic set with a gel polish for $21. AMAZING is the only way to describe my experience there today. Jimmy did my nails and he is the nicest, kindest person Ive probably ever met. I let him take control and I was not disappointed, I have beautiful pink nails that only he does! I love my nails and Jimmy will never be able to get rid of me as a client!

The students are well-supervised, and really do great work. Ive been getting cuts, root touch-ups, and even highlights here for more than a year, and have never been disappointed. (The coloring system they use us also really good - gentle on my scalp, and covers my grays with no issues whatsoever).

I just went in today to get my hair highlighted and yen did an amazing job. The teachers there are also amazing at helping and directing the students in a positive way. Everyone is so nice and sweet and it’s a nice clean place as well. Definitely making this my go to place for my hair

I have been going to the Portland Beauty School for about a year now. All the services that I have had done have been excellent. The students are friendly and knowledgeable and very able to work with a variety of . I have referred so many people to this School and they have been very happy with their services. The instructors are Excellent, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about trending cuts and colors. Barbering, facials, nails all good...

Honestly, I’ve had a great experience with this school and the people there were helpful and encouraging. They’re also very understanding about schedules and they really do their best to work with you, especially when it comes to unforeseen circumstantial changes in your life. Thanks PBS, I look forward to visiting again in the future!💕

Everyone from the first meeting and School tour to the end of classes has been nothing but AWESOME! Im the Mom and paid the bill but my daughter had a great time and learned a lot. The staff was always fast and friendly with me. We would both recommend Portland Beauty School

Wow! Attending the evening classes was amazing! I liked the pace of the lectures and there was plenty of hands on training throughout the course. The instructors were excellent and very knowledgeable. Everyone was friendly, helpful and did their best to ensure that students succeeded. My state board exams were a breeze thanks to the review sessions we had and I am loving my job as an esthetician. Thank you Janelle, Joy and Jenny!

I attended the esthetics course last year. Everyone from staff to clients are extremely kind. They are very attentive and understanding of your schedule if something comes up. Classes were easy to understand. I highly recommended this school!

I came in last week to get a manicure from Student Brianna CIt was such an amazing experienceShe did an awesome job and made me feel amazing myself.Today, I went in for a pedicure also, from Brianna and let me recommend this place as friendly environment and excellent in the areas they are trained inI couldnt feel happier or more refreshed

Sarah & another student (I didnt catch her name, sorry!) did a really great job on my hair! The instructor named Joe is absolutely amazing and very thorough!

In struggling to find a stylist that was both affordable and managed to listen to my coloring specifications (blue black, hardly complicated), I turned to the Portland Beauty School. I had both a facial and a root touch up w/ some all over color done this past weekend. Brenda had the best touch, my facial was excellent. Patty did an EXCELLENT job of matching the color I wanted for my hair, and my coverage looks great. If youre looking to treat yourself on a budget, or would rather pay $20 for your color instead of $85, this is definitely the spot, they have a wide range of services offered. I will be back for sure.The only negative comment I had about the experience is that the floor instructor that was on this weekend was disrespectful to the students a couple of times, which was off-putting and makes the vibe weird. I totally understand that managing a beauty school is exhausting and tries one patience endlessly but this was a little extra, part of being a professional is managing ones own behavior and responses to stressors, appropriately.

Every time I go there I am pleased with the work they do.

I came in for a haircut, with a photo of exactly what I wanted. I told the student, teacher and manager that I only wanted 2 inches cut off. I ended up with at least 6 inches cut off and not the haircut I wanted, despite me showing the photo to all the different folks who dealt with my hair (because I feared this - exactly what happened). I would recommend potential guests to communicate exactly what you want, and constantly check how your hair is being cut. The women cutting my hair were not native English speakers and this likely contributed to my problem.

Have had a variety of services here and have been extremely pleased overall. It is a school, so things may take a little longer than at other places but the students are eager to please and work hard to get it right! Prices are great and friendly environment. Definitely worth the drive.

I got my hair colored and cut by Ssoonie. He dyed my hair grey and gave me a sickening haircut. Fabulous!

Had not been to a beauty school in years, ... Alexis dyed my hair, great color... Paul the instructor showed her how to cut my hair. BEST Hair Cut... Went to a pro. Stylist in Chicago, for a cut and color. Spent a fortune had to go back twice. And she runined my blouse. Portland Beauty School did it right the first time... Will go back next month..

Great school , most congenial and professional of all the schools Ive visited!

Took my 2 daughters to get simple haircuts. They just needed a trim and some thinning done. They took 3hrs to do what most places take 15min to do. It took over 8 people between the 2 kids. In the end the cuts where uneven and not done very well. Worst experience ever from a school. We will continue to go to MHCC where things are done much better, and the kids enjoy it there.

I really wanted to like this place.I called them a few weeks in advance asking for a hair and make-up appointment for a Saturday, and was told they would check to see if anyone would be in for makeup and call me back. They didnt.So I called them again a week later and was able to schedule an appointment for both. At least thats what I thought.Two days before my appointment I thought I would check if they had any availability for a mani/pedi as well, and it turned out my appointment was never written down and they didnt think anyone would be in for makeup. But theyd let me know! And they didnt. So I had to call around on a Saturday in Spring trying to find someone with an opening for makeup. Its prom season... Thankfully Nordstrom had an opening for that afternoon.Probably a good thing I didnt get my makeup here anyway because I was disappointed with the quality of the nail painting. I totally get that theyre students. They were very kind and the rest of the mani/pedi was fine, but I could have done about as well just painting my own nails.Also, the instructors never seemed to be around to check on quality, or to answer questions the students had. Thats probably part of why my appointment lasted over 3 and half hours, when they originally said about two. Though they also called me back 20 minutes late. This was extra frustrating because it made me miss my make-up appointment.The hair braiding and curling was really nice and exactly what I wanted. (If you do go here, make sure to bring a photo of what you want, for styling or cutting!) The curls didnt last more than a few hours. But Im not sure if that was on them, cause I rarely curl my hair.Lastly, many of the students there dont speak English as their first language, and the instructors seemed to talk down to them because of it. People have bad days, but professionalism (and kindness!) are still important, and I didnt see much of that here when I visited. Dont think Ill be returning.

I really wanted to like this place but there were no good qualities about my visit. I had an appointment, but they were 15 minutes late getting to me. I got a mani/pedi...it took over 2 hours total...the girl seemed nice but did not know how to shape nails!! I asked for square tips with rounded edges, she gave me U shaped! It looked terrible, I asked her to fix it after the first one but she didnt take my feedback into consideration and my nails were all uneven. I got shellac, which I realize will peel if you get too close to the cuticle...but she left so much space that they looked a week grown out - pointless! Within a week, the color became splotchy and faded.The place felt very disorganized, and its clear the front desk woman has too much on her plate.I would never go back. I can do a better job at home. Makes me think the good reviews are fake.

This is a school. I get it. And I dont even think that this was 100% the student fault..People have to start somewhere. I showed the gray/white shoulder length hair reseptionist/ instructor a photo of what I was wanting.. I have dark brown shoulder length hair not colored (virgin hair as they put it) I was asking for blonde highlights mainly on the lower half of my short hair with dark chocolate base 1-2 shades lighter then my hair. I was told this was possible. The instructor told the student do 40 volume on virgin hair with balayage this was the instructor call once my hair was completed 4 hours later, I ended up with amber light hair on my roots, brassy blonde highlights and dark ends.. turns out they bleached my whole entire head. It was too light and uneven, I left tired and hungry, I called the next time they opened wanting to know what volume, brand and toner was used since I was not sure if I wanted to return to get it fixed at the school or seek another experienced hair colorist. The new colorist I found wanted to know what was used to help guide her correcting my hair. BIG PROBLEM! I ended speaking with that same instructor lol she said we dont let our students use 40 volume, we used 10 volume on your hair I confronted her and informed her that I heard her say 40 volume.. she backtrack saying I was mistaken it was for someone else... someone else I said to myself...she just said they dont let the students use 40 volume??? The student that did my hair was not doing anyone elses hair ...It was I and another girl getting hair colored that day-she did not have virgin hair. I was the only one.. if the instructor is incompetent and is dishonest how are the student supposed to be successful?! My new colorist informed me that there is no way they used 10 volume on my dark hair and get it this light. BEWARE...My color and cut ended up costing me 75$..Id rather pay way more for an experience colorist who is honest, tell there Clients what is possible with the type of hair they have and a buisness that cares for their staff and clients.

Do you accept transfer students from Aveda? I have about 800 hours (aprox). Im at Vancouver campus, on the mend from hip replacement and my recovery is very difficult this time (2nd hip) due to being on my feet over 5 hour time periods. Ive had the pleasure of working with Beau Monde on multiple occasions for my apparel business. Their students have done both makeup and hair for my runway models for the locally run Fade To Light event. Recently, I was in short need of both makeup and hair for an editorial shoot. Beau Monde was able to accommodate my schedule and get both models in. Banafshen did a wonderful job with the makeup, working with me to get exactly the look I wanted and wasnt afraid to go big and bold when asked! Natasha worked her magic for hair with an awesome, enthusiastic personality. It was great working with such enthusiastic students and the models looked gorgeous for the shoot! I definitely recommend Beau Monde and will surely use them again for my future MUAH needs.
