Lovely place to live. The community is very pet friendly and open to dogs and cats. Only two animals per unit, the community has various pet bag stations throughout. The community is in a circular road which residents use to excercise, walk, and park their cars without congested traffic. The community has a new clubhouse with a pool, excercise room, pool tables, and grills. There are storage units for rent, laundry units for rent, and new garage units to accommodate a single car. The community is only 10 minutes from the nearest military gate on Granby, and even closer to restaurants, grocery store, and pharmacies on Wards Corner. Overall, the community is safe, full of families, and a strong military presence.

Lived here from 2019-2021. Very affordable. I had a good experience with my neighbors for the most part. The staff is very friendly and helpful as this was only my first and second apartment since leaving home for the Navy. Check them out if you’re searching for a place to live within really close distance from NOB and JEBLC.

It’s a nice place with nice people but until you decide to move you become an enemy. They target military folks. I lived there 2014- early 2015. They charged us a ridiculous fee for carpet cleaning meanwhile we didn’t even have any children around to make any mess. We maintained the place very well but I guess management wasn’t so happy when my hubby was deploying and we decided to move out. I was extremely disappointed.

Sharon told us how cute of a unit we was moving into and we fell for it. Due to COVID we were not able to view the apartment until move in day and all was fine until it wasnt. Appliances are broken, sure maintained comes out the same day but nothing gets fixed. Im paying an extra $46 a month for a washing machine thats constantly not draining or leaking all over the kitchen floor and has yet to be replaced. Carpet is installed poorly and Im sure that will be taken from my deposit along with everything else that was done poorly within this unit.

These apartments have consisted of the nicest workers, most family oriented atmosphere, pet friendly (all shapes and sizes!), military friendly, honesty driven employees, and even the most fun! I really appreciate the times I have been out to just receive availability and the viewing tours - both were wonderful experiences. Other apartments I viewed just didnt stand a chance against the great apartments and workers at Colony Point. Workers at other apartments have been more dull, or act like they hated their jobs - there was nothing personable or exciting about living there that personally caught my eye.The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is beautiful! The back splashes (the color varies on the floor plan) are gorgeous and the appliances are all new or in very, very good shape. The facility has 24hr emergency maintenance to come help you out, even if its just locking yourself out of your dorm. Security guards also do rounds during the night to ensure safety. The new working building for the facility, that also functions as a hangout place and office area, is a cool-modern space where a lot of residence come and hangout with the workers when they can. The workout room is nice too!The workers are honestly the sweetest people - they are super friendly, know almost every resident in the apartments, their pets, and are great friends with everyone. They make you feel like youre part of a family from the moment you step in the door.Im not the best at taking pictures, but these are a few from the floor plans I looked at.EDIT: I’ve been at colony point for over half a year now and still LOVE it! They are attentive to issues, have quick response rates for any maintenance issues, and are always appreciative towards residents. They will remember your name, family, dogs and more - you’re like a member of the family when you live here. They are (currently) having a resident appreciation week filled with movies, ice cream and more everyday and are always so fun to hangout with. We’ve had no issues with our apartments so far, minus we’ll have to move one day (military)!

It took over a month to get our final bill which was over $1,000 for carpet because they charge based on the life of the carpet. They dont even try to clean it, they just replaced it all even though there were only a few places that needed to be patched/repaired. Even though it took them a month to get the final bill they only gave a week to pay it and threatened to send the bill to a collector if not paid in full. Also be prepared to live in a construction zone, was a resident for 9 months and there was construction on the property for approximately 7/9 months of my residency.

If I could give this complex less than one star I definitely would. Management had us going back and forth (from May-July) paying move out fees. They never bothered to reach out or make a claim to our Renter Insurance to pay for any damages. We paid the full amount through their portal which meant paying the extra fees attached which is nonrefundable, not once but THREE TIMES. They never bothered to CALL to let us know what was going on with the move out details. ALSO, let it be known they claim to have security but we had our packages stolen TWICE and found several other neighbors packages opened out in the back. We emailed them asking that they put out some kind of alert but never saw or heard anything of it so we had to buy a security camera. (:

I recently left Colony Point Apartment complex and I was very happy with the apartments, staff, grounds and all of the front office staff. We had moved our first year from one apartment to another due to an incompatible neighbor but the rest of the time the experience here was wonderful. We had moved here sight unseen from far away and were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. The maintenance staff will bend over backwards to help you if you are respectful and kind. Here are some things to see if Colony Point is right for you. The lease is ironclad...read it and understand all of the requirements (most of the people that complain did not read/understand their lease). The rules are very strict!!!! Do not move here if you do not want to follow the rules. It is a family friendly place that is pet friendly. Do not get an uncontrollable pet that barks all the time. Do not try and throw wild parties...go somewhere else. This is a place where families and others will feel comfortable and safe. The rules are strictly enforced for good reason. Thanks Colony Point!

Im not sure why this place has such a bad rating. Yes, there are going to be complaints because no on is perfect but this place deserves a better rating. I just met with one of the office ladies and she gave me a great tour. Told me upfront what everything was going to be like and how much. Its not pricey at all, just pay attention to whats in your lease and youre fine. The rooms are great! Updated more than most apartments in this area! I cant wait to move in and stay for the few years that Im going to be stationed here.

My experience with colony point at first was great , everything was perfect , but the front office staff and managers are unprofessional and have no communication on noting accounts with whats going on so when you call and speak with someone different there lost and you are penalized for it because theres no proof of what was spoken about in a prior conversation, Ive never experienced having any problems with any apartment complex until I moved here and after this I refuse to live in another apartment complex , Maintance was also a problem we saw a huge rat on my balcony one night and I reported it and management told me it was a squirrel like Im stupid or something . I dont and will never recommend this property to anyone. So much more I can talk about but looks like everyone who has posted 1 star ratings have already spoken on that . Good luck if you move here .

Unfortunately due to a mess up with my pack out dates I had to stay longer than I intended to.Luckily the local office though bent over backwards to make things work so I didnt have to live in a hotel for a month and a half. Great price, spacious, VERY responsive and friendly maintenance team. Kristine Hennessy was manager when I lived there and was very responsive as well. She informed me of specials on lease renewals and was always friendly. I live in a more modern and much more expensive community near downtown now. While I prefer this location, I miss the spacious rooms, large balcony, and amazing maintenance guys. They always responded within 24 hours to my maintenance calls, even after hours sometimes. Great place to live if youre on a budget, and are lucky enough to have quiet neighbors like I did. I actually lived here twice over a 4-year period when I left the area and returned. I had much better neighbors the second go-round.

I loved living here. If something was broken it took awhile to fix at times. The hard part came when it was time for our lease to end. We filled out the non lease renewal and turned it into the front office to the receptionist. Im assuming the receptionist was fired or found another job because she was not there upon move out and we were charged 3 months rent plus legal fees. It was our word against theirs and we lost. We moved across country to california and could not make it back for court. After postponing and finally just paying them we realized that 2 evictions were put on file under our names even though we carried out our lease. Also how can 2 evictions be put in for one apartment? Never the less Im glad its over now. Also our car was broken into one time during the summer. If you live here be careful and document EVERYTHING when you move in and move out. Also make copies of your move out paperwork.

I have been so disappointed recently. In the beginning, everything seemed great, but lately, they have been charging all these bogus fees on the account. While making an online payment today, as I always have, after hitting submit, a $20 fee appeared. It was not there before I hit submit. When I called about it, she said she couldnt do anything about it! This past month, a $25 appeared and when I called about it, I was told that it was because we had not shown documentation again for renters insurance (it was shown before they moved in). They said that they just choose a date and proof has to be shown again! What???? I was also hours late (not a day, but a few hours), late paying rent this month. First time it has ever been late, and they charged a late fee of $102.50!! I called and explained that I had been sick and had to go to the hospital, and was it possible to have it waived this time, and I have gotten the runaround on that. We wont even discuss the roaches..... but anyway, Im not sure if management has changed or what, but I have been extremely disappointed this past month!

In the time that we have been there, a year and a half, several things have occurred: drug busts, car break-ins, loud parties that have spilled into the hall ways and led to fights out in the street, a bank robbery occurring at the end of the street in which the robber hid in colony point. When we moved in the management told us if there were issues call their security services. One night when a large fight broke out in the hall I called the security company who promised to send someone out, they never did. The individuals in the fight were very intoxicated, got into their separate cars once the fight disburse, and drove in reverse around the complex. One night, May 20 2015, as we sat on our balcony four cop cars pulled up in the circle and blocked the street off, a swat team bust into the apartment building, and arrested a few individuals. I would say that was rare but it occurred again a week later. On several occasions, we have had issues with our plumbing and over and over they have come to fix it but it remained an issue for over a year.We had issues with our neighbors smoking pot, the smell seeped in our apartment, and I was pregnant so the smell was very irritating. We called the management and they came over. She admitted that she smelled the pot and though the neighbors were the only people home in the entire building, she couldn’t prove it was them. HOWEVER, a week later this same neighbor drove up on the curb and into the building, going through the sliding glass door, and taking out the shrubs, leaving tire marks on the carpet of the living room. Luckily no one was hurt, or living in that apartment at the time, though it was directly below us.Lastly when you move out of this complex they will charge you 225 dollars for a cleaning fee, that’s 75 for carpet cleaning even though they charged us an additional 162 to replace the carpet, so in fact we paid 75 to have the carpet cleaned and 162 to have it then torn up and replaced, or at least that’s the logical way to explain the charges they gave us.I hate to write this review because the managers were really nice and understanding of our military situation but they overly charged us and though we had a set rate of 830 a month at the end of lease we were paying 925 not including utilities because of “fine print” that they never explained when we signed our papers. The day we moved out, I was notified that several cars had been broken into and things had been stolen so it was easy to say good bye to Colony Point

Probably one of the worst places I lived. Yes pet friendly but be ready for a hefty fee once you move out because even if your carpet can just be cleaned theyll just discard all of it and say that a sepcialist said it couldnt be cleaned and then charge you for the whole place. And expect the payment in full within a week even if you try to work out a payment plan theyll say no send it to a debt collector then charge you 300$ more because of it. Not to mention every person I saw move out during the time I lived there they always replaced the carpet some didnt even have pets. Always had black mold behind my toilet and they didnt fix it just came in and painted over it. Plus at the end the waterbug cockroach things would come in through holes under the counter. I told them about it and it was never fixed. Price wasnt that great either . It sufficed for a year but in the end got screwed over pretty bad. And no we dont want to come in a talk about these carpet fees or any other fee bc we tried to work it out but paying 900$ in one payment or two payments in a week is not sufficient when you get paid on the 1st and the 15th and have other bills to pay 🙄

I moved in 3 weeks ago. The office and management have helped me and my wife better understand how and what to do when we have an apartment. The apartments are way better to see in person. They look and feels as a good if not better modernize home feel military and family’s. Everyone that rates this 1 star are the people they didn’t read the lease to see what they were getting them selves into. I’ve seen so many complaints but most of those complaints were on the paper stating what they could and couldn’t do. All I ask is as a resident on this apartment come and look for yourselves and be sure to read the paper if you come to move in. Don’t be like the ignorant people on here that all they want to do is complain. Thank you.

Up until my last month at this complex everything was okay, besides the fact that I had to hear arguing and police/ambulance coming to my building more than once, everything was good. So, my lease ends in March and the end of my February my car was towed and the office refused to try to help me out, okay I was wrong because the parking decal wasnt noticeable but they didnt try to help me out, so I believe that was my first sign to move-out, after deciding to pay the increased rent they hit me with. Anyway, now I found a new apartment that has all the amenities I was looking for, apart of their process is to get a rental verification, and would anyone believe that the office completely ignored the other complex and up until now from the 2nd of March the office has never signed the verification form, I had to reach out to a previous complex to help me out. To make matters worst the office told me that they entered the wrong amount on my RPP contract so each month they send me a notice of unpaid funds, the first time I received the notification I called the office and Alexia explained the latter, okay fine, so I havent received any notices after that conversation but periodically they would put something on my door and each time I called the office to speak to a manager and was never successful, so here we are in March and I received the same notification with almost $100 worth of unpaid funds, so I immediately called the office and Alexia said oh that is your March utilities and we all know you cant get a bill for that month at the beginning of the month. So I say all that to say be aware of this complex as they are overcharging for no designated parking spaces and the buildings do not get cleaned everyday. For this price go to VA Beach and just commute back and forth, definitely not worth it even if base is 5mins away. Except for Alexia and Christine the other young lady there is great and she assisted me pleasantly every time I came into the office. The other ladies wasnt rude to me but I will say they are very deceitful.

I lived here about two years ago and was happy living there (aside from the room mate issues). The apartment I had was a nice size (we had a two bed room since it was a couple and just myself living there) and the area felt safe. I wish there laundry facilities where closer. It was a pain having to drag my clothes over to the next unit just to wash my clothes (really bad when it suddenly starts to rain), but once we got a rented washer and dryer in the apartment, the problem was fixed. The biggest problem I had were the neighbors below us. You can hear everything that goes on in the room next to you AND below you. We had neighbors that would party all night, loud music playing all night, and this was every night, not just the weekends. I wish the walls could have been thicker, but you cant really help who moves in around you. I just wish more could have been done to deal with the awful neighbors.

My boyfriend and I lived at Colony Point for 5 years and we left with a great deal of hate for this place. We were always (but one or two times) on time with our rent, I even paid my rent a couple of months in advance at one point. When we first moved in and mistakes were made but they were the best about fixing things and making the situation 10 times better however, the last 2 or 3 years I lived their things went downhill. The maintenance staff cleans the hall ways to the buildings maybe once a month which is gross when you have a neighbor who tracked in dog poop or a neighbor who threw up in the hallway and it sat there for weeks. Once the maintenance staff had to come in because there was a leak coming from our bathroom to the one beneath us and we were fine with the last-minute notice however when they left I went to my bathroom and they had gotten into my bath tub with their shoes on and left dirt all in it. No one tried to clean it up or apologized nothing. Then we had problems with our bathroom vanity and the maintenance guy came in and broke it. There was water all over the bathroom floor and he left it like that. He didn’t ask for towels or let us know there was water all over the floor I came back after working 9 hours that day to find my bathroom like that. I also placed a request to have a door fix the maintenance staff didn’t get back to me for weeks and when I called for a third time the maintenance manager was very rude and very disrespectful to me. Also, after I moved out we were told we had to pay 1800 for breaking our lease when I received the Final Statement it showed we only owned 1200 and some change so I expected to get a refund check of about $500-$600 dollars well the next letter I received from Colony Point was from their collections agency saying I owed them almost another $400 dollars. I called and the lady that I spoke to at Colony Point (after I got no help from the collections agency) was very nice but I’m a college student who barely makes $14000 a year I don’t make enough to lose more money from a company who has the mindset that they are okay with stealing from the poor. After I spoke to her and still did not have a clear understanding of what happened to my money (basically they made up prices and what things cost) I sent them another email and then I got a call back from the manager who refunded me $40 dollars its better than paying (one could say) but they technically still owe me $500 dollars. What makes me even more mad was that I was told my apartment was getting completely renovated so that’s where my $500 dollars went so they didn’t have to put out their money and towards there “upcoming” gym faciality. This place is a scam. They take advantage of the fact there isn’t enough housing at ODU and the fact that the other apartments around the area are worse so they jack up the prices and screw people out of their money for a (kind of) decent apartment. It’s not right. I couldn’t wait to leave this place and I don’t want a call from any manager I want my money back because when you send someone a FINAL ASSESSMENT that means you have included all chargers and now you are just trying to screw me even more than what you have done. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I thought this place was an answer to prayer when I spent time in the office with the staff. They show you this beautiful apartment that they work in and all of this space and its wonderful. They sell you on brushed nickel doorknobs and a lighting fixture in the dining area. You feel like youre getting a great deal for the price. Then you move in. Right when we moved in, there were roaches, EVERYWHERE. We called to get a exterminator to come in. It didnt help. 6 months later, we still have roaches everywhere. Weve called multiple times to get the exterminator that the apartment complex has a deal with to come out, but it doesnt change anything. Also, the walls are paper thin. Our upstairs neighbor is 3 years old and he runs and he runs and he runs. Thats all we can hear sometimes. Sometimes we can even hear the exact television show theyre watching. I dont think its his fault.Since weve lived in this apartment, weve also never had a consistent shower. Every time we shower, the water goes hot, and then cold and then hot and we have to make adjustments every 2 minutes. Not only all of that, but then when you actually want to get out and find somewhere decent to live... they want you to pay an arm and a leg. Its disgusting.Stay away from here as long as you possibly can.

This has to be the absolute worst apartment I have ever lived in. I have been a resident here for approximately two years. In that time, my vehicle has been broken into twice, and my apartment burglarized once.I have complained to the management about the crime in this apartment complex, but they are completely unwilling to provide any assistance. The first time my car was broken into, the apartment complex promised that they would increase security. This never happened. During this incident, expensive stereo equipment was stolen. Once every four months or so, I will see a security car drive around. They do absolutely nothing. The security team that patrols this complex is not exclusive to this complex. They are never around. On top of their absence, they are not security guards. If they witness a crime, they are not authorized to do anything. They carry no weapons. The second time my car was broken into, again, the apartment complex did absolutely nothing but promise that they will increase security. I suggested that they put up cameras and gate the community. The management of the apartment complex insisted that this was impossible because it would raise the price of the apartments. The managements only solution to this problem was to tell me to come to a neighborhood safety meeting.....so that they could tell me to be more careful. During this burglary, the thieves caused over $1000 worth of damage to my vehicle. In addition, five other vehicles were broken into in this apartment complex that same night.Recently, my apartment was burglarized in broad daylight. I went to lunch around 12:30pm, and returned home a little while after 1:00pm to find that my apartment had been broken into. Electronics and money amongst other things were stolen. When talking to the apartment complex about this, no assistance was provided. The management staff was not even around.DO NOT live in this apartment complex. The apartments look alright, but your property will be vandalized and stolen. The apartment complex will not do anything to alleviate the problem, and chances are that they will try to blame you. I repeat, do not live in this apartment complex. You will be sacrificing your health, safety, and peace of mind. You will feel like a prisoner in your own home here. You will want to sit at home at all times because you will not feel safe. Even your home is not safe, because you will be burglarized. If you have children, they will not be safe here.If you are a graduate student like myself, you will not be safe here.In this apartment complex, you are surrounded by criminals that will wait for you to leave your property (be it your car, or apartment) unattended. Then they will vandalize your property and then steal anything of value. The apartment complex refuses to do anything about this.
