Ive lived @ Pembroke Towers for many years and the building does have issues due to its age especially with the convector system as previous commentators have mentioned. The heat & A/C are not climate controlled and in my opinion thats the biggest drawback to life at this highrise. However, the staff are excellent and my experience has been that they are usually pretty responsive to maintenance requests and to other issues brought to their attention. The building has unique architecture, its located in an upscale and historic area, there are medical facilities near by, the balconies are huge comparatively, and in my opinion the sunsets and moonscapes on the southwest side of the building are worth the rent. My apartment was renovated 2 years ago and the modernization and granite countertops are a big improvement over the older, original layout. No place is perfect but I stay here because its home and because theres something about living up in the air.

JMG management and Pembroke towers are the worst managed buildings ever! Ive lived here two years and yet to be able to use the pool. They say it was broken last May and yet have still not managed to fix it in 14 months. Nothing in the apartment gets fixed unless you pull teeth and even if it does its only a temporary cover they dont ever fix the problem. I have been trying to get ahold of upper management and corporate for a month now with no response. I would stay the hell away if it wasnt for the view Id already be gone and I will not renew my lease! The elovaters breakdown on a regular basis and living on the 11th floor thats a problem. Just stay as far away as you can from the Hague towers and Pembroke towers as they are sister buildings!

It is LITERALLY 80 DEGREES in my apartment right now, despite having the heat turned off and the windows open all day. There are constant issues with the HVAC system. They turn the AC off at the slightest hint of cool weather and immediately start blasting the heat. Tenants have minimal control over their units climate thanks to the antiquated climate control systems.

I first moved to Pembroke Towers in 1992 and still remain as a satisfied tenant. Before coming here, I lived in Virginia Beach. One thing I have learned is that I am more of a Norfolk person than a Virginia Beach person.I also rediscovered my love of the historic Ghent section of Norfolk. It all began when I attended Blair Junior High School, now named as Blair Middle School, back in the 1960s.Norfolk is my home. Ghent is my home in Norfolk. And Pembroke Towers is my home in the Ghent section of Norfolk. As a single person and senior citizen, I rent a studio apartment unit that has just the right amount of space to suit my needs. My walk-in closet provides me with plenty of space for my clothes and storage as well.Ive seen a lot of changes at Pembroke Towers during my stay. The most prominent change has been a new management company that has been adding new renovations and amenities since they took over.We now have an exercise room, a social room with a TV, and free WiFi in the lobby. The hallway on my floor has just been beautifully renovated. The staff members have been friendly and supportive. The maintenance team members are always responsive to my needs and take care of any problems that arise. The following are some of the things I love about living at Pembroke Towers:The Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is located right across the street, and I can walk there in about five minutes. This has come in handy many times. One day last year, I was having symptoms of a medical emergency. I immediately walked on over to their ER and was admitted for an overnight stay. Fortunately, my symptoms turned out to be a false alarm. My physician told me that I did the right thing by walking on over. He told me that an ambulance probably would not have been able to reach me in five minutes. If my symptoms were serious, this could have been a life saver.I can walk to my dentist and primary care physician in about thirty minutes. I am in easy walking distance from several of my favorite Ghent restaurants and a local grocery store. My unit provides me with a beautiful and spectacular balcony view of the Hague and the Norfolk City skyline. A photo from a recent December morning is included.I love being able to walk to the Chrysler Museum and viewing the beautiful homes along the way.I can walk to the Tide station at Fort Norfolk in about five minutes. This comes in handy whenever I want to go to downtown Norfolk and dont feel like driving, especially at night. All of this walking provides me with plenty of exercise, and I can actually get by without a car. I also love the additional exercise our outdoor pool provides during the summer.I have found the new management team members to be very proactive in the steps they are taking to maintain and improve my level of satisfaction in living at Pembroke Towers. When it comes to living in Norfolk,. I dont want to live anywhere else.

Felicia was very professional in helping me extending/leasing an apartment at 601 Pembroke Towers in Norfolk, Virginia. I am really impressed and appreciate all the help by Ms. Felicia during the whole process and making the whole process very smooth. She was very professional and friendly. I liked her problem solving attitude when there were some technical glitches submitting application and fees online.

I currently just moved in a few weeks ago. It is perfect location. They are in process of renovating which is nice to see the changes. If you want upscale and fancy new amenities then this is not your place. I love that it is decently priced , close to everything I need, staff is outstanding and I enjoy the people living in the building. Very safe and feels like home not a hotel.

I loved living at Pembroke Towers! The staff is great, very helpful, and friendly. The location is awesome--located in Ghent and close to downtown Norfolk with many restaurant options and food stores. Its also a great location if youre commuting to downtown or the Naval Station. Parking is FREE and plentiful. My apartment came with a balcony with a stunning view of downtown and the USS Wisconsin--great spot to watch the fireworks on fourth of July or harbor fest. Maintenance is great too, any issue I had was promptly resolved. I highly recommend.

Ive lived here for three years now and theyve been getting better and better! The location is very close to the EVMS campus and relatively good for the price too. The staff is friendly and always helpful when I have a concern. The back of the parking lot tends to flood when the tide is high or when theres a lot of rain, but thats most of Norfolk. Youll be fine as long as youre aware and park somewhere else during hurricanes. All in all, I definitely recommend!

Great location! But over-priced, and impossible to get repairs done. No parking available at night, as the med students steal the spaces, and no enforcement.

I have lived at Pembroke Towers for 3 years now and have been very satisfied with my time here. It is in a prime location if you attend the medical school. Also, in my experiecne the management has been very receptive of my problems and has always sought to find the best possible solutions. I would recommend Pembroke Towers to any students looking for housing.

We spent months trying to find the perfect waterfront property for us here in Norfolk ... and we found it - Pembroke Towers! The views are out of this world. But the most amazing surprise of all was the management team here, Jason and Samantha. We dont have enough words to share how much their support in making this transition has meant to us. We looked at many properties throughout the Hampton Roads area and many of the people we met at the different locations, seemed insincere and doing their jobs by rote. Jason and Samantha are the real deal. Caring, thoughful and always going the extra mile! Keep doing what you are doing! It made a huge difference!

The staff here are nice and the location is great. The apartments are also very spacious for a lower price. However, Ive had more problems than living at this apartment complex is worth. There is constant water leakage everywhere in the apartment. Ive asked to have drawers fixed that were messed up since the day I moved in but they never did.The worst problem that traumatized me was how we got RATS in our apartment. It happened to a couple other apartments on the second floor. Management wouldnt come to check on traps they laid down unless we asked. They didnt clean up where the rats have been in my apartment either, so it is unsanitary and a hazard. One rat tried to bite off its own leg to escape a sticky trap and bled to death under our sink. We didnt know for a few days until we checked, when it isnt even our responsibility to check. This was traumatizing to say the least.

My experience at Pembroke Towers has exceeded my expectations!! The staff from management to housekeeping are friendly and helpful. My move from a 3,000 sq. foot home to a 1,000 sq. foot apartment was made easier with staff suggestions (I got a 2 bed 2 bath) and with setting up a moving date and the details. The location is also great because of its closeness to the Hague, downtown, medical complexes and Colley Avenues restaurant corridor. I would suggest this building to anyone needing a place to feel like home!

What a great place to live. Everyone is very kind here and always ready to help. Pembroke Towers meet all my needs. There is a laundry unit on each floor, a lounge area with internet access, a small gym, off-street parking and many security practices in place to ensure a safe environment. The view is fantastic as well. Glad I chose Pembroke Towers! Highly Recommend!

I moved in here almost two weeks ago. I am a student at EVMS and this apartment could not be in a better location. It takes only a few minutes for me to walk to class, and I dont have to deal with the hassle of parking. I live in a one bedroom deluxe. I figured I would break down my review into different categories.Atmosphere/Staff: Everyone I have interacted with so far is extremely nice and accommodating. When I had a maintenance request on a day the office was closed, someone was still at my door within 30 minutes to fix it. All the residents I have met are very pleasant. Its a mix of students and retirees mostly. The apartment is very quiet, I havent heard any yelling, dogs barking or banging. The building itself is old, but it is well kept. It reminds me of a fancy hotel with the way the front desk/workout room is set up.The manager, Jason, has been very kind to me. I came from a very bad living situation with my old apartment and he has made sure everything is good with my new apartment and that I am comfortable here. The maintenance and cleaning crew are all very nice people. The complex is in a beautiful location, right on the water. The apartments each have private balconies that overlook the water/downtown. The only downside is that the parking lots flood really easy so you have to keep a watch on the weather.Amenities: One of the biggest reasons I picked this apartment besides the location is the fact that ALL utilities (except internet/cable) are included in rent. This is something that makes my life a lot easier as a student who has to take out loans, because I know how much I need each month. That being said, temperature is controlled by the complex and during season transitions it can get pretty hot inside the apartment. I ended up getting some box fans to put in the windows and keep a room AC unit (not a window unit) in my room. If you wanted it warmer, you could get a space heater. There are a LOT of windows so you can open them and let fresh air in.The workout room is really nice with high quality equipment you would find in a chain gym. Its open 24/7 which is very nice for students. The apartment is also along the Elizabeth River Trail for running/walking. There are laundry rooms on each floor with a re-loadable card. Its cheaper than the laundry mat and much more convenient. There are also trash shoots on each floor which is nice because I dont have to walk down to the dumpsters. There is a nice social lounge with WiFi which is nice for studying. There is also a package locker which is nice because previously I had to have a PO box. There are complex activities like movie nights. There is a pool but I moved in after it had closed for the season. They also allow cats and dogs.Apartment: The apartments blew me away. I can only speak for my unit and the ones I toured but they are very nice. Some units are renovated and have hard wood floors but I am not in one of those. The carpet is very clean and is NOT an ugly color. The walls are free of creaks and the entire apartment was very clean. There is a HUGE walk in closet (like the size of a small room) which is very nice as well as massive closets in the bedrooms and hallway. The rooms are very large as is the kitchen. The kitchen has a TON of cabinet space which is nice. The bathroom is very well lit and has marble counter tops and a very large mirror. There is good water pressure. The balcony is huge, enough to host several people and its very nice, the sliding glass doors to it let in so much natural light.Cleanliness: My apartment was very clean when I moved in. I didnt see any evidence of water damage, pests or stains. The lobby, workout room, lounge, trash/laundry room are all very clean. I have heard of issues with pests etc but personally I have not had issues as of this writing.Price: Very reasonable for the area, rent prices vary based on the view, renovations and size. The complex is SAFE! All doors to it lock and you need a key fob to get in and you can set your individual door to automatically lock.

People allowed to smoke inside property and the smoke spreads to other units. Flood water runs risk of totaling your car in the parking lot. Do not recommend this place..

One of the many issues with this place is water. I had water damage caused by the air unit above me, so they created a hole in my wall to fix the plumbing. What they didn’t tell me was that they also created a hole in the wall in the apartment next door, and just covered both with mesh. My boyfriend and I found out the “interesting” way one morning when we discovered we were being spied on by a contractor. I moved shortly after. The management and front desk staff are condescending and ignorant.Terrible place to live.

I have lived in this place from 2014 till 2016. it was one of my favorite locations that I have lived in Virginia due to all utilities were included, hardwood floor throughout my apartment and crime rate around that area is considerably low. However, I had expressed my concerned with wall to wall insolation. I could hear my neighboor next door noise. we did both complained how easily and effortlessly noise travel from my bedroom to one of his bedroom. This issue was never resolved while I was there. Water leakage outside my bathroom wall in the hallway 7 floor was never fixed while I was there despite I complained several times. Parking lot flooded and my car suffered water/flood damage. This parking lot floods specially in high tide at night and during raining season.
