Recovering Computers by Sparky is one of the best places in town to pick up a decent rebuilt and restored computer in Mesa, Arizona; and as far as that goes, anywhere in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. I’ve bought several systems from Sparky, and gave them as gifts, and a few were snagged by thieves.Sparky is as honest as the summer is long in Arizona. So when I found out his number one son is named Thaddeus, he won my love and respect. Thaddeus is a bright young man, and looks to be as strong as a plow horse. But I wouldn’t want to wrestle him though, because I know he’s a chip off the old block. I would go to him for computer advice, a system or software upgrade or repair. Recovering Computers gets my rating of five stars, and if I could Id give them a sixth one.

I was extra ecstatic to have Office already loaded to go! Also, using the cloud and personalizing my Mac for action was fast and pain free for me. Sparky knows his stuff! I was having the most annoying issue about my auto jack that NO ONE in Scottsdale or Mesa wanted to help me with. Everyone mostly said that they had to take off the cover and mother board that would be a very sketchy to get into and fix; saying it was too difficult and didnt want to help. That wasnt the case for sparky. After I mentioned I needed it for school, he was able to fix it in no time. Excellent service and a life saver!Totally recommending him for anyone that needs quality service.PS, sorry for the late review, now that Finals are over I was able to give you a proper Thank you!

I went to this place to get my laptop repaired. The technician said that the video cable needed cleaning and reinstalling. The fee quoted was $50.00. I was told that I would be informed once the laptop was done. I had to call to see if it was ready because I received no phone calls from them. I was told that it was ready to pick up. When I arrived, the computer did the same blinking that was doing before. The guy said that it was the settings and that he would correct it. I took the computer home after paying with my credit card. I got home and the screen went off again. I took it back and I was told that I needed to replace the whole screen! I asked for the price and asked if he would give me a credit for the repair. He quoted the price, but I was told that there would be no credit. I told him that it was unfair and he told me that he didnt warranty the repair and that if I wanted to move forward, I needed to order the screen. I tried to argue about the money that he charged me just the prior night and he told me to get the &:&@# out. That his shop was private property and that he had recorded the whole conversation about the warranty the prior night. I asked him to show me WHERE in the conversation he said his repairs had no warranty and he told me to get out and came around the counter to get me out. I called the police about the matter and I was told that this was a civil issue on a transaction. That I needed to take him to court if I wanted to get my money back. This was my experience in this shop. I went to Best Buy and they performed the same repair of the cable again. It worked just fine after I got my Toshiba back. I would not recommend not go back again to this shop.

Hi, Im going to write this from perspective of what I already feel will be response.First let me say Ive known Dave Aka sparky a long time and always thought highly of despite his need to talk over you or feel his way is the only way. He is good at what he does but can have trouble slowing down to here what concerns you and does not serve him.He will say I got great deal a discounted deal hes correct. I asked one time if could and knocked 50 bucks off. Im grateful for this however dont mean the level service imo should be compromised. Hell say I was rude, well I was after I felt I had anbd still not been heard because he refuses to think just maybe in his 10 years of selling computers just might of gave me wrong charger. Ok no bi ggy Right? Well now its a bi ggy unfortunately. He even mentioned that in 10 years he had not made this mistake. Honestly cant say for sure if did or not as I did not look that close at charger when bought laptop.So here we go. I buy it about 3 months ago, dont use all that much. Call in aftera about month and explain it is not charging and have only used maybe 2 hours at this point which i said. First response was its your battery, me Im like I just bought it are you sure. Then speak to me like Im doing something wrong, Im not and idiot which is how he we will treat you BTW if dont like what hes hearing. So I buy battery even though I feel should not of had too but did ok. Doesnt work. Get another batter no go.Long story short Dave refuses to believe perhaps that he accidently gave wrong charger. He will say I blame him, this is not true or at least wasnt then. You see I live with know one, have only one laptop and there us no other. Needles to say though I checked with a a few things out and tried to and was fine with being wrong, it happens no bi ggy. I tried telling him this twice but refuses to even listen or accept my facts could possibly be what is on my end. Honestly I dont care just help get working ok but he was set on saying that I brought wrong charger or I did this to myself and this is why was not working. This had me thinking and now beginning to be dissatisfied.With his handling and from beginning putting on me to figure out and ficlx when it was virtually new. Hes says he dont have time and

Today, I dropped my work laptop! I immediately panicked and called Sparky for help. He immediately got me in and work on my laptop, he tried his best to save my hard drive, it dropped it hard. :( He did get me the new parts and repaired everything on the spot. Now my laptop is actually faster and better than before. He was super helpful, he was straight forwarded didn’t try to over sell me gave me my options and educated me on what everything meant. I recently went in to see Sparky for a computer repair. He does excellent computer repair work, he fixed my power jack quickly and for way less than what the Geek Squad had quoted me. They also sell used computers at their shop, I dont know much about computers but they seems to be really inexpensive. All in all I had a great experience when I had my computer repaired. I recommend this place to anyone in Mesa needing a computer repair.

I’ve been to Sparky’s Computer Recovery five times in the last 8 years and each time I’ve received exemplary customer service at a very affordable price.In 2010 I had a laptop die on me 2 days before finals and he transferred data off of my dead laptop to my new one quickly so I could finish my paper in time.Later that year my wireless went out on my laptop and they fixed it the same day. A few years later he sold me a very affordable Apple desktop that works well 6 years later! Prior I had box store laptops breaking on me once every year or two.Recently, I needed a solid laptop to work on my resume and research new jobs. Dave has a handful of great options under $150. I picked up a HP for $99 and it works amazing!Thank you for 8 years of great customer service at a affordable price!

I have had the best experiences at this store. After the Apple store tried to rip me off and charge $750 to replace my keyboard, falsely claiming I had spilled liquid on it, the owner was able to correctly diagnose the problem which was just a small $13 part that needed to be replaced! Yesterday I took my laptop in to have two keys replaced and the owner Sparky and tech working there were wonderful. Polite, entertaining and very competent, the tech had the keys replaced in probably close to five minutes. Just charged me the cost of the keys and a minimal labor cost. I wont take my MacBook Pro anywhere else.

I would recommend this place to anyone. My laptop one afternoon completely shutdown on me and started beeping. I took it down to Sparky and he was able to diagnosis my laptop and get it running again in like 10 minutes and I was able to use it for the rest of the weekend. A couple of days later my computer did the same thing and I realized that my laptop was just broken and I could tell that it would be a lot to repair or I would need to get a new one.I went back to Sparky and he was able to get me a good deal on a laptop and transferred all of my data from my old laptop to my new laptop. The laptop that I got from Sparky has been working great and has better speed and processing than my old laptop. Very pleased with the service I received and the laptop I purchased!

Sparky is the best! My computer would not reboot, I took it to Sparky and he knew exactly what was wrong. Apparently Windows 10 operating system has some issues. Sparky was able to get me up and running in less than 24 hours. He also helped me get the software I needed downloaded for my training class , which was very cumbersome and took 30 min. to install. He is an awesome guy!!!!!. If you have any computer issues at all or are having trouble downloading software, whatever your issue is Sparky can fix it!!

I have been late in rating but late is better than never. I dont write many reviews but Recovery Computers deserve one. Its been about a year since I essentially had a custom computer built to fit all of my needs. I have been 100 percent satisfied with the computer that was built for me. The shopping experience was a great one. There was conversation and getting to know me and exactly what I needed to run a demanding iRacing game. I highly recommend Recovery Computers and have been directing people there over the last year. Ive just never formally done a review till now. I wish all businesses operated like this one.

Both of my hard drives had failed and I needed to upgrade from windows 8 to 10. I took my laptop in and it was worked on by Coco. She did an excellent job and had my computer back to me with all of the updates already installed the very next day before I had class. Overall, excellent experience!!

After looking at the google reviews, I thought this business was reputable and trustworthy. I initially brought in my Samsung tablet for a diagnosis(wasnt powering on) I shouldve seen this as a red flag on paying the $35 DOLLARS UPFRONT but I was naive. After a couple days we called him and he said the problem could be a number of things. Either the motherboard and/or the charging port and/or the battery. He TOLD US THE BATTERY WAS DEAD (he said he tested via volt meter). On top of that, he said to write the estimate for the repair would be $65. This is dubious practice of prepaying $35 for the diagnosis and charging more for a written estimate. When I confronted him, he said I have other computer repairs that are worth 5 times more than your tablet This basically told me he was just trying to run with the money. He said a ball park estimate to fix it was $200!!!!! After picking up our tablet, we trouble shooted it with a friend and found out the BATTERY WAS PERFECTLY FINE (volt meter). Come to find out it was a simple loose connection that we fixed. When we opened it up there seemed to be no evidence of it being open. We believe he lied to us and actually didnt do more than trying to charge it with a cable.*In response to the owner, that is a blatant lie that we dropped off the tablet 24 hours ago, according to the debit card statement we were charged on the 15!!! We have disputed the transaction with the bank.

We gotta couple of laptops for our granddaughters last Christmas. Inevitably they downloaded multiplayer games so they could interact from their respective homes and needless to say, VIRUSES! I bring my new Lenovo desktop to him with some wifi connection issue, the second day when I come back for it, the computer cannot even get started, I have a lot important file on it. I dont even know what he has done to it. Whats worse he said its my fault to upgrade it to win 10. Its a new desktop for god sake!!!!!!!!Whats worse, when I say I want my computer back, he tear the contract up in front of me. I have to say this guy have no good knowledge of computer reparing, everybody can change part for you, but when you run a reparing store, u need to know how to fix other stuff.Im really disappointed with him, I will never recommend anyone to this unconscious store.

Ive know Dave for a little over a year and he has a nasty habit of being petty, disrespectful and unkind when he does not get what he wants. My experience with Dave Harrington is that everything I have read in the 1 star reviews is true. Daves reputation within the recovery community is that unless you have a simple software installation Dave cant handle it. I just built a new system and was having a difficult time installing windows OS, so I took it to Dave the self proclaimed Windows Pro. Dave stated he would call when he had an update. I left Dave alone for the entire week, only contacting him the night before I returned.Two days later I walked into RCBS with the tablet I bought for the business trip which had died on the third day eating all my research, to drop it off to be repaired. Daves greeting was the usual rude why are you here, Im really busy, I said it would be ready tomorrow. Dave complained that he should charge me all the time it took the Windows Pro to figure out that he needed to install windows 10 on the hard drive, and that somehow it was my fault. Dave installed the version of 10 he wanted without asking me.Now Daves idea of being really busy is building secondhand laptops, while he incessantly huffs form his massive vapor tank and consuming ridiculous amounts of energy drinks, becoming agitated and aggressive. Later that night I texted Dave asking him what time tomorrow he wanted me to pick up the computer, knowing he would be busy and I did not want to suffer showing up unannounced. This was Daves response, after telling me some four times it would be ready tomorrow.It has become painfully obvious that Dave makes poor scheduling decisions, then when he corners himself comes out rude disrespectful and unkind, blaming the customers for asking him questions. Sparky claims he studied a B.S. in Business Management, yet cannot figure out that hes in the question answering business, LOFL. Hello Dave, try ignoring them. I was told it was ready one full day later. When I arrived to pick it up Dave was gone, his helper showed me where it was with a bill three times what Dave had quoted.Now this is where Ive heard repeated complaints, at least 8 different people, that Dave Harrington does not call and explain that it will cost more or seek approval for parts or additional time. Moreover after an entire week goes by with no promised update from Dave, the customer calls to receive an ear full of how you’re bothering him, in my case Dave states It took me 4 fours to figure it out. He needed an entire week for those 4 hours, boy that really rough.Here is the shitty part. After returning home with my computer, hooking it up, I turned it on, and spent the next 3 hours fixing everything he screwed up pulling the CMOS battery, while the reset button was ear marked in the instillation manual I provided Dave. I had to reinstall the Quad channel ram; he put in the wrong slots, fix the bios setup, and install the drivers for the graphic cards. All the while, the computer STUNK of perfumed nicotine for hours; I hope you’re not sensitive to it like I am, Asthma!!Here is the most important part of this review, while in the program registry logs; the computer shows that Dave did ABSOLUTELY nothing to the computer after that rude response. Apparently Dave sat on the finished computer out of spite.As payment I had earlier traded Dave an entire gaming computer valued at over 500.00, as referenced on ebay, for 250.00 in the attempt to do a brother a solid, and yet Dave tried to say that was for the tablet I bought. Dave is selling these for 150.00, which on Ebay are valued at $80.00Dave Harrington will show absolutely no respect for you or your property. Windows was finally installed and Dave made a smokin deal, literally. Next you will see a 5 star review from one of Daves buddies to manipulate his approval rating.

Wasted $25 on diagnostic fee to get my developmentally disabled sisters PC fixed after ransomware was put on it by a hacker. I could have fixed the PC myself if I had come to Mesa from the East Coast with my own PC, cd roms and/ or USBs. So Im not a newbie when it comes to PCs. Sparky tried to pull the wool over my eyes and, when I caught him at it, he backpedaled saying, No, forget I said that. What we did was this.... Then when I caught him in a lie there, he backpedaled again.I decided the only thing he might be capable of doing is formatting the HDD and re-installing Windows. When I asked him to do that, he quoted me a price that did not take into account the diagnostic fee I had already paid - this is contrary to what he had told me the previous day. Classic bait and switch.He claimed to have done a number of bios and OS changes to the PC but, when I told him I was done with him and coming to pick up the PC in just a few minutes, he assured me the PC was just I had left it - software and all.So glad I did not have him touch it any further. I brought it to ABC Computers Plus, just down the road in Tempe. Their attitude, professionalism, and skills were exactly the opposite of Sparkys. Look, if you dont know much about PCs, you can take it to Sparky and youll never know the difference whether he hoodwinked you or not. So go for it. But if you do know a bit about PCs, save yourself some aggravation and time and take it elsewhere.I have read Sparkys response to my review. Its another lie. Not surprised. Exactly what it was like dealing with him.

This is a comment on the Recovering Computers by Sparky.Recovering Computers by Sparky donated a very good condition laptop to the Mesa Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee. The computer had up to date Windows software and spyware on it. The MLK Committee thanks Sparky at Recovering Computers for the donation. I have used Recovering Computers by Sparky to rebuild my home desktop computer and he did a great job. It has been a year ago and I have never had any problems with my desktop. Whatever your computer needs are, please give Recovering Computers by Sparky a call.

My boyfriend took my laptop in and it was diagnosed and fixed in no time! We have an older laptop that’s been sitting around collecting dust that only had a loose cable they fixed no charge. I feel like I was LISTENED to for a change and wasn’t pressured into buying something more expensive with a bunch of junk I didn’t need! They also gave a 6month warranty free!! Who DOES that?? Sparky that’s who!! I may need to upgrade the memory some but I didn’t realize I was going to need more than originally planned so that was just an unexpected thing. But no worries it’s not going anywhere but right back to you guys. I needed my CMOS battery replaced in my custom laptop that I use for work, and needed it done FAST. I dropped it off in the morning, and Sparky had it finished for me by lunchtime (even with having to take apart the whole thing to find the CMOS on a Clevo). Im pretty he also fixed a busted latch on my CD drive, and cleaned my screen, keyboard, fan, etc. I know where to go for any other issues I have :-)
