I was driving down to KC from SW Iowa for a business trip. It was about 5:45 pm that I suspected a problem with my brake, hub or bearings and called a friend in KC whos friend recommended I call these guys. I am so grateful for them it was 3 minutes before the shop closed on Friday night when I called and he told me how to get there and he and his tech had me fixed up and back on the road again within an hour and a half! I didnt catch all of their names but they were all amazing! Roscoe the tech who did the work was really quick and did a phenomenal job! The owner and the lady who worked in the office were both super friendly. I was afraid it was going to be crazy expensive due to the late situation but they were so reasonable!!! I cant thank them enough for their kindness and willingness to stay and get me back on the road!! Its places like this that renew my faith in humanity every day! When shops are backed up for weeks they made time for an out of towner on a Friday night!

We had more than a few issues with our company truck, we needed service fast, we called everywhere, and didnt have any luck until we called Above and Beyound Car Repair, they got us in, they had to do a lot of work with very little notice, and I tell you what, they stood up to the name Above and Beyound because thats exactly what they did!...Great Service, very knowledgeable about what needed to be done, needless to say our work truck runs like a new vehicle...I recommend Above and Beyound Car Repair to ANYONE, especially if your not from around this area..they do go Above and Beyound.

New owners one of which is actually a mechanic there. Known the guy for 12 years now and is the kinda guy that will give you the shirt off your back. Extremely knowledgeable and fair but most importantly truthful. Had a bumper painted there and it turned out excellent. Every person I have turned to there was blown away by the customer service. Probably the most genuine/best/thorough shop in Kansas city

Jeep wanted $600 for tuneup and they didnt even know of that was the problem. I left and took it to Duane. Fantastic job. My car has never ran better and they charged me $405 and that included an oil change. He also mentioned my brakes needed attention. I knew they did but I was very pleased that he was looking out for my safety. The great thing is it was 4 pm when he let me know and he was able to squeeze it back in and make the repair. THANK YOU!

My wife and I were leaving Kansas City on New Years Day from experiencing a really great conference (Onething Conference), heading from the north side back to Springfield, MO where we had our jobs waiting for us early the next morning. Drove down the road and our car stopped working. No acceleration whatsoever. Time to walk in faith in God! Asked God for help and He MIRACULOUSLY brought us to this place - which was amazingly open on New Years Day! They looked at it and this was fixed the same day. I really appreciate their willingness to do as best as they could to fix this asap, as best as they could. They took care of it, the guy working on it made some schedule/shift changes from what he was doing to focus on fixing my car in time, the staff were friendly, the shop handed me the keys, I drove off, then they went to close up the shop. It got fixed at just the right time. Because of this, my wife and I were able to go home that same day - New Years Day - get rest and then get to work on Jan. 2, starting the year with yet another miracle. God is so good, and Hes better than you think!

Great oil change,checking for my oil leak

This was the worst service I have ever had in my life. They kept my car 4 weeks and did nothing to fix it. I had a friend who worked next door to them my car never moved ever. I was trying to be patient but I called up to shop and he told me he sent my car to Tiffany Springs Nissan he couldnt fix it. Car was in limb mode no way he could have driven to Tiffany Springs. I called the dealer and they said they had never had seen my car. I left work immediately and went up there and my car was sitting there he said he just got back. He is the biggest liar that ever breathed a breath. He left sun roof open and it rained in car sunroof stopped working. I wouldnt take my ailing dog there. Look forward to be ripe off.

I took my car to Above and Beyond Auto for a simple tune-up. I left with a CHECK ENGINE light on that did not go away. I called them to figure out why it had gone on after the tune-up. Had to take it back there 3 times and they STILL couldnt fix it. Took it to another repair shop and they fixed it immediately. They determined that some major parts had NOT been put back on after the tuneup. It took up way too much of my time trying to get them to fix what they screwed up. The new owner Steve says he is trying to improve the business. He did end up firing the mechanic who did everything wrong, which is a good start. However, I will never go back there. I also felt that the receptionist tried to get me to purchase parts that I didnt need and when I had made an appointment for the car to be looked at she forgot to write it down. I showed up and had to immediately leave because they werent prepared for me. I have to say also that Steve himself worked on my car and he still was not able to find the problem. That says a LOT to me, especially when another repair shop found the problem instantly. I think if they hired better mechanics they could probably recover from some bad ratings but I just wanted to share my experience. I had purchased a coupon book for $45 from a salesman promoting their shop and it ended up being a waste of money, which is too bad because there were some really good coupons.

My car wouldnt start, so I ended up walking out of Gladstone Dodge dealership with an $1800 dollar bill. I cried, I am a college student with no money. Took it to A&B auto and walked out paying $120 bucks. Men were so nice and helpful took care of my car and sent me on my way. Being new to the area I will say that if my car acts up again I will be going back there.

They wouldn’t do a tire repair because they had turned off the air compressor already I understand I showed up minutes before closing. However I was still there during business hours and was refused service because they decided to close shop early. I would think as a business you’d welcome any potential customer, especially if it only meant staying a few extra mins after closing.

I am fairly new to the area. I looked online for an inspection station. I scheduled with Above & beyond. The receptionist seemed friendly enough. However, the mechanic began the inspection on my car and 45 minutes later and after several trips walking right past me with no eye contact , this mechanic failed me for a peeling wiper blade, worn upper ball joint, and an exhaust leak that he stated leaks all the way around. I was very surprised and suspicious because I just had an exhaust overhaul, My steering has had no issues, no noise or alignment problems or symptoms that accompany a bad ball joint. I have not smelled any exhaust or noise. I left with my fail slip, ran to auto zone and grabbed one wiper blade then I went to another shop for an inspection. I made them aware of my fail issues and was told that NONE of the reports cited were needed nor is there any leak in my exhaust. I now have my passing inspection and tags. I feel Above & Beyond are scam artists. I went in there a single lady and he had absolutely no other customers. The inspection was 45 minutes although on the fail slip he noted 30 min. Beware of these scammers. I give this shop 0 stars.

A year ago this place was great- I dont know what happened! My guess is that they hired new guys to account for their growing business and the new guys lack the work ethic that made this place great.CV boots were put on with zip ties?! A guy charged us double for work time because he wouldnt believe my husband l knew where a component was and dismantled the vehicle first?! Geeze.

I would rate them lower if it was possible. I bought a used car from them and during the test drive it ran fine. On my drive home after purchasing it the transmission started slipping. I talked to the owner, Steve, the very next morning and asked for my money back as I had had it for only a little over 12 hours. He would not refund my money but said he would look at it. He said the trans fluid was low and he filled it and test drove it for 15 to 20 min with no problem. The odometer read 127,290 when I dropped it off for him to look at it and was still at 127,290 when I came to pick it up, so he lied straight to my face. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Take your business somewhere else.

Crooks, you dont get what you pay for. I couldnt get to a couple of spark plugs and I broke a wire. They were a block down the street so I took my truck there to replace them just to find out later on that they were never replaced. Same your money and time and go some where else.

I am shocked at the poor reviews I have read. I have been using this shop for years and have always had a great experience there. I always use Jason who is their best mechanic and he has always been hones and direct and willing to negotiate. The prices are as fair as any shop and I can always trust that I am not paying for something I dont need.

We took our truck there for a tune up last week. It had a check engine light on and missing slightly. They said there was some wiring repairs needed. We paid $300, and hardly made it home, it ran horrible . After popping the hood, we found they used wire nuts on some of the injector wiring. A plug wire wasnt plugged in...Horrible workmanship! It died on a very dangerous road trying to get it to a different shop. We had to have it towed the rest of the way. We will never use this shop again!!! If I could give negative stars, I would!!! Steer clear of this shop!

The good reviews you see on here are most likely his friends. Where do you think all the cars out front that he sells come from? Think about it.

So far they have been able to repair everything the first time when other shops cant get it right the first time. The repairs are affordable for me and theres been many times where they have diagnosed for free. This is the only place i trust with my car. It just sucks that they are not open on weekends.

We live near Gladstone and are new to the area so decided to give them a shot. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!! As a former mechanic who can no longer work on his own car due to health circumstances, I had to have an O2 sensor replaced, and an inner tie-rod end replaced. They told me that to do the sensor they would have to pull the driver seat. I said no, then told them how to do it. They ignored my advice and charged me and hour and a half when they should have only charged a half an hour.On the tie-rod end, they put the boot back on and “secured” it with zip ties instead of something that would work, like a hose clamp.Just poor quality of work and doesn’t know what they are doing and are unwilling to admit mistakes and refund for those mistakes. To me, this is dishonest! Will never return to this shop!!!

Friday, late afternoon, my serpentine belt comes off. I pull in to what is now Steves Auto and they have me back on the road in less then an hour. A repair the included a trip to the parts store which, conveniently, is next door to the shop. Another late afternoon, were talking after 5:00 pm, the belt comes off again. Once again pulled in, obtained the part and back on the road in less than an hour. These guys rock!

Horrible work and customer service. Took my car in for a misfire October 2018. After a week or so the car misfired again. I call them to have them look at it again as it is still having the same issue. Under warranty, they replaced the coils which was THEIR diagnosis. A few weeks later the same thing occurs. THEY ALSO FORGOT TO PLACE THE COVER BACK ON MY ENGINE COVERING THE FRONT COILS, LEAVING WIRES EXPOSED.Needless to say this has been going on for 4 months and my car is still misfiring. They now tried to tell me that my issue is that I need new motor mounts, when the car is still misfiring. After that they said I need catalytic converters, which would go bad due to the misfires. They refuse to take ownership of what they failed to fix, which is what I paid them to fix. The owner, STEVE, then decides that if I can leave my car for 2 days, they will look into it more. It has already been 4 months of me taking off work to get this resolved. WIthout answering the question of leaving my car there for 2 days as I would have to figure out transportation to and from work, the owner then decided to order me off the property, refusing to provide work records. Overall very bad experience and I would rate a 0 if i could. So bad that i will be contacting an attorney over the matter. I WOULD NEVER LET THIS PLACE TOUCH YOUR VEHICLE. THEY ARE DISHONEST AND THEY HAVE HORRIBLE WORK ETHIC AND DONT WARRANTY THEIR WORK NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU. Makes me wonder if they are even certified.

I had bought a service pack for I believe around 50 dollars last summer and it was good for up to a year. When I called up to set an oil change I show up the next day and everything gets done as it’s supposed to. The next couple times I come and try to do it, think they realized I had bought a service promotion pack so maybe I was no longer a priority to them. I call to set up an oil change and show up the next day, the owner forgets to right down my appointment and I have to leave and make another one. Few months down the road I call and make another appointment same exact thing happens! Except this time instead of writing my down for an oil change he writes me down for an inspection. Shortly after getting my car back and telling them that I never set up an appointment for an inspection, they unapologetically tell me they can’t do an oil change today and that I have to call back once again to set up another oil change appointment. After it’s all said and done I realized my time wasn’t a value to them and the guy Steve who was running it, clearly couldn’t care less about the inconvenience he caused. Would not recommend this place.

Long story short just find someplace else........anywhere else. One star is a high rating but unfortunately the lowest we can go here.

Very bad experience there. Please use caution when going there. My car was towed there when it wouldnt start. They got the car started and I left after paying $222 however it wouldnt shift into any gear besides 1st and the engine light came on. They took a look and eventually said the transmission control relay was missing and swore up and down they didnt take it out. I know they did because I saw them messing with it to get the starter to turn over making sure it was okay. After I left, I noticed the radio display was off which has the clock on it. Even though the radio played fine, the display was blank (its tied to the ignition switch). I took it back to them the next day and they said I just needed a new key cut. That didnt sound right to me because the radio display worked just fine when the car was first towed there the previous day. I got my wifes key which was one of the originals and barely used and had the same no radio display without having to push the key towards the steering column. I took it back to them a week later showing them that it still isnt working. They look at it some more and decide this time its the key cylinder that needs replacing. They get one from next door and have me go to the Chrysler dealer down the street to have new keys cut. The dealer instead re-keyed the cylinder to work with the existing keys and only charged me $31. I took it back to Above and Beyond to have the new key cylinder installed. The radio display worked fine for a few days and then stopped displaying again unless I push the key in further to get the display back. Very annoying. I dont trust them to know what theyre doing at all. Bobby was the one that did the most work on the car and Tom was the other mechanic that swore up and down they didnt take the relay.Also, the tow truck driver said he didnt trust his vehicles with Above and Beyond and the manager at HyVee also said she doesnt trust them. Now I dont trust them either.

Had a huge problem with this dump. First of all, it was a scammy looking place as a first impression but I assumed the owner was on vacation or something so all the activity was temporary but I mistakenly took my broken car to them, anyway (it used to be Abbotts Above and Beyond, as I found out) and within a few days of their diagnostic, I was being threatened with a $30/day storage fee for my car being there.WHAT?!?! I JUST BROUGHT IT THERE AND NOW YOURE THREATENING ME WITH STORAGE FEES?!?!After that, I knew the nice, previous owner didnt own this place anymore. I was angry. When trying to settle up with this place, I saw a sign stuck on a glass wall that said a diagnostic fee was one price but she was trying to charge me more! After I called her out on that, she adjusted the price but got a STRONG vibe that would probably happen to anybody else who goes there, too. STAY AWAY!!!

I just moved to KC and needed a mechanic so I looked up reviews online for near ones. These guys were great, I had a conversation with two mechanics about all my questions and they were honest and easy to talk to. $13 oil change for students! Gave them five stars originally but changed it because a week after my initial visit where I had them check my breaks and heater, they had said the breaks were fine. A week later, theres a grinding noise and the entire rear assembly (struts and stuff) has to be replaced. $800 repair.

Friendly people, reasonable prices. Trust them to work on all our cars. They even contract a guy to repair windshields for $125 less than the cheapest rate I found anywhere else.

I used to referred business to this place when they had good mechanics but now they do not!!! And here I once thought this place was honorable from working on a few vehicles of mine. However i recently bought a car last October and have had no engine or transmission problems. Even had it in and out of this place before for tire patch. Anyhow i bought an aftermarket clutch off ebay had them install it, only to have car break down a few weeks later. Now they dont want to honor the work they done to cause my car to break down!!!!

I had a power steering pump replaced here. After driving it for a couple days it goes out again. I take it back and they agreed to fix it 3 days later and2 more power steering pumps I get it back. After I leave the check engine light comes on and the car keeps dying out. I take it back again and they realize that they didnt get something plugged back in correctly. Ok at this point they have had my car more than me for a power steering pump. So after about a month it starts whining again! The owner tells me thats what all power steering pumps sound like and will not help me. After all that I now have to take it to a real shop and have it done right and then take them to small claims to get my money back. Do yourself a favor and do NOT take your car here.

I got my car worked on there and I am not sure what these people are talking about... The staff there were very nice and knowledgeable. I have been have problems with my vehicle and had taken it to several shops. I brought it to Above and Beyond and they figured out what was wrong in no time. Thanks Guys! I will defiantly be back

Went in due to a coolant leak. They looked me dead in the eye and told me I did not have a coolant leak and that there may just be some extra coolant leaking down the frame of the car. The constant puddles of coolant in my garage over the last 4 months would suggest otherwise and of all places, NTB was able to find the leak! Not impressed with new ownership and will not be going back....ever.

I am tremendously disappointed with their quality of service. They had my vehicle for two weeks. After one day my air condition went out. After two days my vehicle died on the highway from the same problem it had before. I spent 2,000 dollars at this shop. The problem was not taken care of. Beware anyone looking for a quality shop this one does not have integrity with their service. I have had to miss work from their non reliable service.

I took my car there to fix a timing chain that was broke. they took the motor down called and said it was the tensioner guide, the valves are bent, and there was no point in fixing it. They chaged 50$ for that, understadable. Not understandable when i ask them to put the part i bought back in my car, since it was not being fixed, i went to get my car the part was not there, one hubcap was taken off, and after i towed it back home and looked under the hood half my motor was missing, I had to go back up there and ASK for the other half of my motoe back that the mechanic still had at his work bench in boxes along wiht the part I BOUGHT! When we called up there and asked why it wasnt put abck together they said i could take it ack up there but they would charge me more to put it bac together. they also then told my grandma on the phone this time that it had 2 broken timing chains, bent valves, and metal in the oil.Reality: the valves arent bent, the timing chains arent broken, no metal in the oil,This place is a joke and the mechanincs dont know what there doing or tlaking about, They tried geting away wiht half my motor and a 167$ part they werent planning on giving back to me.I will never go back to this place, There was no apology or anythign from these people, except smilies and laughter like it was funny to them.

I normally do not write many reviews however my positive experience may help others needing transmission work done in the Northland. I needed a clutch replaced in my 90’s 2WD pickup on a Wendsday morning and called 4 places (2 are chain transmission locations nearby) looking for a quote. One would not give a quote and asked me to schedule an appointment for the following Monday. Another said Friday and ballparked $800 and the last said $700 at the low end..Above and Beyond quoted me a total bill of $470 and if I had it there by 10am it would be done by the end of the day. 3 hour labor plus parts at cost quote.Cons: NonePros: Friendly. Was done right the first time. Same day as promised. Actual total cost was $415 ($55 under quote). I hope this review helps and would recommend them for transmission work.

2 mis-diagnosis, a proposed $1000 parts and labor bill, and 5 days later, I called my experience at Above and Beyond OVER!!! Its seemed everytime they tried to fix something, another problem occurred or what they had tried, didnt solve the issue. Mulitple times I talked with their mechanics and they always had bad news, which was soon followed by an additional charge for parts and more labor. Bottom line, I drove my car in and had to have it towed out. I feel really betrayed and my 10 year relationship with this shop is over and will NEVER come here again. My advice to EVERYONE reading, get a second opinion. Fortunately, the manager did admit they were wrong and I was not charged for any of the parts or labor and he did have it towed at his expense.
