I have been coming to this pep boys for years and I know that it’s been a rough time for everyone and I always try to be patient but as of today I’ve run out of reasons to be a customer. I go online and book an appointment for an oil change yesterday and the whole day shows as wide open. When I show up they tell me that they can’t take me because a mechanic called out. I again was understanding and even though I had to change my schedule around they assured me that if I dropped it off tomorrow it would be ready. I come in today and drop off my car and immediately received an attitude because as they said “they’re overworked every day” and when I asked again if it would be ready by tonite they reluctantly assured me my car would be ready to go. I call in at 7 because I hadn’t received any calls or texts and the person I spoke to said my car was on the rack being done right now and they would call me shortly. So instead of waiting I had my ride drop me off, I walk in and they tell me my car hasn’t been touched and wouldn’t be done until SUNDAY. And again stressed how overworked they are. Myself and my family will never be returning as customers. If anyone has a good recommendation for an oil change let me know please

They wasted my time and my money. I made an appointment online after purchasing 4 new tires, which came with a free install. I showed at my appointment time, only to be told that not only could they not take me, but Id have to wait 3+ days for the next available slot. What?Obviously I couldnt wait that long because the entire reason I purchased 4 new tires is because I had a flat and decided to change all my tires at once, since they were due anyhow.So how about that free install? Ha, what a joke. I purchased the tires from them solely because it came with the free install. Since I didnt have 3+ days to wait around, I ended up going to a local tire shop and got it done within 20 mins. I had to pay for the new installation of course, which ended up costing me more than it would have had I purchased the tires elsewhere to begin with.In shorts, they wasted my time and money, with something that could have easily been avoided. If you didnt have the availability, dont allow customers to schedule appointments, especially when your next availability is days away. I think thats a pretty simple solution, no?My advice, go to the local tire guys, youll save both time and money, and actually be treated like a paying customer.

After a genial chat with Greg, I was told that a few customers were in front of me, but it would be a short wait. In car repair I took that to mean 2 hours. Ater 1 hour I asked for an update. Soon,!!. After 2 hours I discovered that at least another hour or 2, then I would be next. I was shocked. Id waited 2 hours with another 2 hours minimum just to start on my simple oil change. I left, unhappily.

Do not use this place if you have any choice they had my car before close of business yesterday they havent got to my car at 4 30 in the afternoon simple alternator repair. Customer service out right sucks the technician berated me ad nauseam for not knowing the model of the car I suffer mini strokes so memory gas lapses Ive been stuck in a hotel 2 days now thank pep boys

These guys deserve a shoutout— I visited DE recently and got an irreparable flat tire in Lewes on a Saturday evening. Not wanting to drive 3+ hrs back home on a doughnut, I tried calling shops Sunday morning to see if I could get new tires. Jimmy was super helpful on the phone and in the shop, they had exactly the tires I was looking for and, even though they didn’t have an appointment until that afternoon, they told me I could drop the car off and they’d fit me in. They got it done before the quoted appointment time while we walked around nearby and had lunch, and even had a special going on — they saved me $$ and from a lot of stress! Really grateful for the Dover, DE pep boys crew.

I was on the road on the July 4th weekend with my wife and toddler and got a flat tire which was not repairable. Called all the local tire shops in Dover, DE for the right size Tesla tires and none of the tire shops carried them. The team at Pep Boys went above and beyond to help me get back on the road by finding that one elusive tire from a different shop. Highly recommend them.

I took my truck into Pepboys in dover to change 2 universal joints and supplied the parts. I was called by Service manager 2 hrs later for him to tell me his technician wasnt comfortable doing the job. So I asked why and was told that the technician didnt have proper tools.... so I asked what special tools were needed and he wouldnt answer me. Long story short... they decided that they just didnt want to do the work. Dosnt take any (special tools) to do the job! So they wasted my time, wasted my money, and they lied to me. I would NOT Recommend this auto shop.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a shop. These guys are unprofessional and communicate so poorly. It’s appalling.I had an 11 am appointment for two dented rims and a tire installation. Hours after the appointment no one called me back and they seemed confused about what work needed to be done on the car. I drove out of the lot 6 hours later and will not be going back.

My 7 year old overextended the seatbelt, so it would not retract back in. I was stressed because he could not be secured in his booster seat properly when I was driving.. After calling several dealerships wanting to charge $150 to just look at it and a separatecost to fix it... I contacted Pep boys and talked to one of the kindest people..named Eric in the service area. Eric offered to look at it without cost and fixed the problem in 3 seconds. Erics compassion to help someone in need is exceptional. Eric was the only person who offered to look at something without costing the person an unaffordable debt. I am truly grateful and thankful..I will recommend him to anyone in search of service. Thank you, Eric..for not only your customer service but for being a great person in a world of such turmoil.

We will NEVER take our cars here again. We dropped our car off on a Tuesday night to have the error code read and to fix what ever was wrong with it. They finally called Friday afternoon to say it wasnt throwing an error code and they couldnt find anything wrong with it. When my husband started it up the error code was still right on the dash and it still sounded horrible. The technicians seemed like they had no idea what they were doing.

Terrible customer service!!!! Two guys would take phone calls after phone calls, never would even make eye contact with customers wanting. When you ask them why dont one of you guys take phone calls and the other guy could help wanting customers,they dont want to hear about it. SADLY I WOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I would not recommend this company at all. I have worked in the service industry for 40 years, I would never treat customers like this! Thank you for your time.

Absolutely terrible service. Car went in shop totally fine. Only needed 1 tire changed & my girlfriends car serviced but they had called prior to going and asked us to cancel one of our appointments we had because they would only have 1 person and it would take too long. So we did, thankfully. When we got there, there was 4 guys there. Took over an hour for 1 tire. Came in with over a half a tank of gas, pulled out with less than half and they couldn’t explain to us why. Then my car breaks down after leaving the shop. Called to explain and got cut off and snapped on bc he said “I’m not educated and don’t know what I’m talking about” while explaining what my concerns were. Don’t recommend going there.

This Pepboys has substandard service....if I could give them a zero, I would. I had a scheduled appointment a few months back only to arrive on time to find the place closed due to electrical problem....no phone call to apologize or reschedule....today I decided to try again to obtain a routine oil change only to be turned away again saying that they are overwhelmed right now.....the worst part is, I had called earlier in the week and was told I did not need an appointment for an oil change. I will not be bringing my vehicle here ever again!!!!

Had to go here the one day to get my brakes done. Usually I’d go to my normal mechanic but since it was a weekend, he doesn’t work. But I got my brakes done and I noticed that they didn’t have the same kind of pressure when pressing on the brake pedal. Didn’t think of it a whole lot but a couple months down the line I had to get my front wheel bearing replaced. The mechanic I usually go to told me that when he took the caliper off their was a bolt missing and that the thread on the other one was stripped. This could’ve caused an accident and was a safety hazard. So he was able to get it fixed and the brakes worked they way they were supposed to before I went to pep boys. Accountability is very important and I wish the people their were truthful about what they did. Not really happy about that needless to say. And to rub salt in the wound. The brakes cost around $280 to “fix”.....

Do not bring your car here, they put my life at risk twice! This will be a lengthy review but please read it all the way through. I brought my car in to have them look at and possibly replace my brakes because of a loud grinding noise I began to hear while braking. They told me I needed to replace my back brake pads, back rotors, and that my calipers were seized. All of this would cost $1000, and I paid that with no complaints. When I received my car back it was in unsafe driving conditions which they were aware of. My brakes were now soft, soft to the point where I almost had to floor them in order for it to just start to slow down a little. I know that they were aware of this issue because prior to them handing me my keys they asked me were my brakes ever soft. I told them no, and they said that while the technician who worked on my car noticed that after working it they noticed that they were now soft. To solve it, they said they re-bled the brakes. However, that did not solve it, and as previously stated, my brakes were extremely soft with my stopping distance being compromised even at low speeds. I took it back to them the next day, and upon their review, they now said that I needed a new master cylinder and the part and installation would cost $700 but they could cut it down to $480. I tried to stress to them how this issue was not originally identified when I first brought my car in and that they gave it back to me knowingly in unsafe condition. Only under the threat of me calling cooperate did they own up to it and offer to fix this mistake for free. This time they were replacing the master cylinder and the brake booster. When I received my car back at the conclusion of this procedure, I now had a check engine light on, which I did not have prior to me originally bringing it in. I restarted my car a few times and drove it around the parking lot and it did not go away. Additionally, my brakes were still making noise, my car was shaking even while parked, and my stopping ability were still compromised. I went back to the Pep Boys and told them about the engine light. They told me that it was a stored code that now is showing because they unhooked and reinstalled the battery and that it should go away if I keep driving. They assured me it had nothing to do with the engine or anything that they did. The following day I used a diagnostic machine that showed me the error and why my check engine was on. The code I got was P0413 or Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve A Circuit Open. I called to tell them this and they said that that had nothing to do with the breaks or what they did so they would not fix this even though this was not an issue prior to them working on my car. I took my car to another mechanic to help fix the issue with the engine light. This mechanic told us that Pep Boys did a lot of damage to my car. Multiple valves and hoses were damage, various pieces and switches were bent. The Valve/Hose from the error code was damaged and that they duct taped it together as seen in the picture below. One would not be able to see that specific issue without the removal of the battery and other parts which I surmise was there intent. All of these damages were as a result of their procedures. On top of all that, the brake booster was not properly installed and faulty which was apart of the reason my brakes still feel and operate incorrectly. Overall I am completely dissatisfied with the service I received and will never go back to that Pep Boys. Their negligence and lack of accountability put my life at risk not once but twice in the span of two trips to Pep Boys. I am currently trying to get in contact with the Area Manager in hopes of getting the problem resolved.

Dont waste your time or money. This is the second time we had an horrible experience. We arrived 15mins early and sat from 1:30pm to 5:45pm. We had our children with us and as we watched through the window they loudly carried on with eachother and left our vehicle untouched multiple times. Very unprofessional in every way.

Worst customer service ever, over charged me for a altinator the first time I went, and the second time I went it took over two hours to get a tire plugged after I was told over the phone I would get a replacement while I was making the appointment. Very unprofessional and the workers are lazy as hell. The only reason they get business in Dover is because there really isnt anyone to complete with them. If there was they would be out of business.

Purchased buy3 get 4th free tires with free install. Arrived to find out only 3 in stock. Maybe next Monday was the timeframe I got for the other tire. I ask if free install will be available if I purchase 4 in stock tires to which I get a reply of I cant authorize that. I ask for a manager or someone who can to which Im told no one is in charge and no management is available. Shocked at the level of unprofessionalism and lack of helpfulness I told him to cancel my order # 006723541278. The store is the Dover DE location and Zachary Carter is my name. Truly the WORST Pep Boys I have been to. The service is terrible, the staff is lazy and lackluster, and the scheduling is extremely unorganized. This establishment needs to reevaluate the staff and how they run a business. I called and spoke with multiple reps and drove an hour for service to find out they would not be able to look at my car until next week.

Took my work van in for new tires, tech didnt hand start any lugs. Stripped over half of them as well as 2 of the wheel hubs. Took it back for them to repair, they couldnt find any new lugs, didnt tell me this until after I called after they had it for 2 WEEKS. Had to find and purchase the new lugs myself so I could get my vehicle back.

They deserve zero stars! They do not take care of their customers nor do they care. They messed up my parents vehicle and were dishonest trying to cover THEIR mistakes. They will only rack up your bill and take your money. Do not trust them with your maintenance repairs. We will never use Pep boys ever again. Scheduled online for 2 tires to be put on and an alignment. Online it said it would take 105 minutes. It did not. It took 148 minutes. Also they said they did the alignment but their printer was broke so they could not print out the alignment. So how do I know it was actually done. They had put up cardboard covering the windows so you could not watch what they were doing. Also I ordered online but had bought tires from them 15 months ago and only drove about 8000 miles and the one tired was almost bold. when I arrived with the paperwork I told the guy that took my keys and showed it to him. He did not mark it down. I told Jordan who checked me out my concerns and about the warrented when he charged full price. He was nice and took off a percent for the bad tire. Also one employee kept coming out to wait on people and did not wear a mask but kept pulling his tee over his nose. Not very professional.

We had a oil change appointment for 11 o’clock this morning and when my wife gets there they tell her they are a little behind and they would pull the car in within 30 minutes. Four hours later they finally finished the oil change. After they finally pulled the car in to do the oil change the technicians would walk around and take smoke Brakes instead of doing their job correctly. Which call my wife to have to sit there for four hours before the oil change was completed. That is ridiculous when you have a 11 o’clock appointment and you don’t get out of there till four hours later. I will not go back to the Dover Delaware pep boys Because you guys absolutely without a doubt suck.

Dont fall for the online scheduling of appointment 30 minute oil change guarantee. Both my daughter and I did about a week apart. It took over an hour for each of our cars to get serviced even with letting them know we would be waiting there, which was one of the disclaimers on the 30 minutes. When we mentioned the 30 minute service that it mentioned online we were told (by different people) that we needed to let them know we wanted it done in 30 minutes, this was not mentioned online or posted anyplace or mentioned when we checked in. I was also told synthetic takes longer and has different checks (funny Jiffy Lube can do that check & fill fluids and rotate tires in less than 30 minutes and clean the car) I watched my car tonight get set up by one person and then the oil change was started 40 minutes in by another person after he finished his lunch/dinner. I pointed this out to the person checking me out and he told me the guy was supposed to start my car sooner he gave me a free oil change written on a business card no the coupon like my daughter got. I walked out to my car to find oil above the door handle on the drivers door, on the door to the back seat on the same side and I took a photo and went inside when I found oil finger prints on the inside of the drivers door on the lightly colored fabric..They sent someone out to clean it off however this should have never happened to begin with and my 30 minute service turned into an hour and a half.

While they got my car done quickly and didn’t charge me for the service because it was an easy fix, I can’t seem to get over a question that I was asked upon arrival for my appointment. I was being helped by a nice younger guy when an employee named Greg, chimed in to ask “did your husband make this appointment for you?”. I quickly replied no, as I’m not married and even if I was, I’m sure that I would still be more than capable of making a service appointment for myself. Just rubbed me the wrong way and not sure how it was relevant in any capacity.

Brought my car in at nine schedule an appointment for service. Spoke to a team member at 11 Here it is 6 pm they are about to close the ball joints are messed up and they are telling me they didn’t check the car out and they are going to just put the tires on I told him the wheel is wiggling and why on earth would you just give me the car back like that. Hopefully Casey the manager has a little more empathy and can get my vehicle straight in the morning.

Went there with an appointment still waited 3 hours for an oil change. Was told appointments are controlled by corporate and they cant modify on their end if they get busy. Told me to just come in early and be the first one in so thats exactly what I did the next time. Was then told by the same person. It will be a 6 hour wait because they are busy and I need an appointment. I always used to come here and now will NEVER again. Stick to a story and dont try to play your customers. If you dont have the staffing (or whatever the excuse is) just say so. I was told different excuses every time I went as to why it needs to take 3+hours for a conventional oil change..

Appointment time means nothing.I had an appointment for an oil change, to be on time I arrived 15 minutes early. An hour after I arrived (45 minutes after my appointment time) my vehicle was still sitting in the parking lot. I went up to the counter and asked on status and they said something about a guy went to lunch and that they were running a little behind. Look, I understand that things dont always work out according to schedule. But it would have been nice if someone would have had the courtesy to come back to the waiting room and let me know. They finally got done with the service 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time. I have to admit that I was visibly upset, after all I had places to be. If I had all day to sit around an automotive repair shop I wouldt have bothered with making an appointment. But even though I wasnt at all happy about the delay, I guess what really aggregates me is, that after all is done, NO ONE, no one at all,offered an apology. No apology of any sort. Not even a hint that they cared one way or another that they most likely lost a customer. Just handed me my receipt and said have a nice day.

The work done was top notch , but lot to say about customer service experience. First off, I was told that if I opened a PepBoys credit card I would get a nice rebate. Well when I tried to apply for the rebate couldn’t access it so I call the PepBoys in Dover De where I got my tires and was put on hold for half an hour. So I hung up and called back . And was going to be put on hold again and I said no. Long story short the kid that waited on me Saturday and Sunday gave me misinformation on the Credit card and found out the promo ended July 31st an they never took down the signs. Poor customer service. I would not have taken the credit card if there was no rebate. On very little SS and it would have helped financially.

I purchased 2 batteries online. Received an email that I would be notified when order was ready. Stopped in store about a week after to pick up another part. Counter person said the batteries had not arrived yet and would arrive in 2 days. That was 2 weeks ago. Never received any notification that they arrived. Just received an invitation from Pep Boys to rate my experience for my battery purchase.I never received my batteries. Did they sell them to someone else? This was a vry disappointing experience.

Went for an oil change and they failed to put the engine oil filler cap. There was oil all over my engine bay and asked them to clean it. They only filled the up the oil and wipe the engine cover. About 2 quarts of oil spilled all over my engine bay that I had to clean. If they will put effort to fix their mistake they will NOT put effort to do anything right to begin with.

If I could give zero, I would. Made an appointment to get an oil change and replace my tires. Come in 15 minutes early, was told theyre behind. Okay, no problem. Took 3 hours to just get this done, while trying to upsell me on brakes I didnt need and other services. Once finally done, they didnt have the right name or address on file for me, and blamed me as if I didnt put my own name and address in when making the appointment (I dont even currently live in this state). Checked the receipt, no oil change done, and when I sent my boyfriend in to see what was going on, no one could answer him. Unprofessional as heck, and no one seemed to care that not only me, but other customers were highly unsatisfied. Will never return.

The staff here was very friendly & helpful.The only obstacles encountered had to do with our Amazon to Pep Boys communications with each other. It seems as if Amazon needs to work on clarifying details to Pep Boys. Amazons information was non existent to vague at the best.

Awful service. Made an appointment at 8:00am. Got there on time. Sat for over 2 hours for an oil change and tire rotation with maybe 3 cars ahead of me. I watched the guy work on my car and then walk away and come back ten minutes later to do one thing and then walk away again and come back in another 10 minutes. This happened for the entire 2 hours. And the waiting area is filthy and so is the bathroom. If I have to wait so long for a simple service it would be nice to be able to enjoy my surroundings. It’s ridiculous. Never again will I go to this location.

We scheduled a tire replacement for 8 am and told them wed be waiting and it took two hours. When we first arrived, the gentleman who checked us in told us he had to check to make sure they had the tires, which made us a little nervous given that we booked it four days ago and had received an email confirmation. They did have the tires, but they tried to upsell us to a brake and rotor job once they had the tires off, and they had our hood open too. We only wanted new tires. There was a lot of standing around and chatting going on in the garage. The technician working on our tires finally had all four tires on the rims and had installed one when another guy pulled him away to talk for 15 minutes. They gave us a roadside hazard warranty for free, which was nice. We were still late to our other commitments. No one told us that the tire replacement would take two hours when we scheduled or when we arrived. If we had known, we could have rearranged our day. Weve never waited so long anywhere else for tire replacement.

Went to get a oil change and tire rotation sat and waited and watched my car being worked on after the oil was done being changed the car was taken off the lift pulled outside and someone came in and told me my car was done and took me to the register to pay I then asked why my tires had not been rotated yet I was paying for them to be the woman then gos back into the shop confirms they were never rotated then comes to me saying the oil change and tire rotation will be of no charge to me while that is fine and all it really brings into question what these people are really doing with your vehicle and what they are charging you for I now have no faith the correct oil was put in my car and question if the oil filter was even really replaced because if it hadnt been for me watching them not rotate my tires I would have paid and been on my way not knowing the service had not really been done I will never be a return customer again and would strongly discourage anyone from getting their vehicle worked on there because the things you are being charged for may have never really been done

What a waste of time right???Well they had other tire options same brand slight width difference and a 20 dollar price differenceThey squeezed me in an appointment for installationAlignment and balance and got it done the same dayEven though online had no available appts they were very helpful and gave me free tire insurance for the life of the tires..... slowleaks, nails, blowout etc..car rides much better and smoother. They are also one of if not the cheapest shop

I have given this Pep Boys location too many opportunities to disappoint me. There is no point in making appointments because here I sit waiting on an oil change at 12 pm and my appointment was at 10 am. I am in my uniform so therefore it is clear I am on my way or coming from work. I even stated I would be waiting. After this last experience I have to find somewhere else to have my car serviced. There is no reasonable explanation for having to wait this length of time for a minor service.I had to come back to my comment to mention that Aaron was the only bright spot in my experience today. Luckily he was the person I communicated with after I had lost my patience waiting for my vehicle. He even managed to make me smile after finally getting my car back after 3 hours. Ill give Aaron 5 stars. Pep Boys make sure you keep this young man, he is the only redeeming quality that I seen today.

I had to have my battery/ Alternator looked into as I had a message on my dash concerning both. I called them because they were super close and I didnt want to drive around when my car was acting up. They said theyd replace my battery. It wasnt until 2 hours later that they said it could have been the alternator but he said he couldnt say. They were very rude when I walked in and one man even ridiculed me for wearing a mask and said he couldnt understand a word your sayin maam. I then said that I was just following instructions per government officials saying masks were mandatory. He then scoffed and said that didnt go into effect until Friday. (Who cares, im just trying to be compliant and safe!) I then come to find out my battery had not been the problem it was most definitely my alternator and to make things even more frustrating the nice man who helped me at Pascos on Dupont hwy right near Redners, he explained to me that all places like Pep Boys, Advanced Auto etc. Have equipment that will tell you if your battery is good and if your alternator is charging and most of them do this at no charge. I will not be going back to Pep boys. I felt like the typical seemingly idiotic woman who brings her car in and cluelessly spends money she didnt have in the first place. One would think with everything going on the staff would have been a little less intent on simply taking my money without helping me and taking what I feel is way too long for a simple battery exchange. (2 hours)

I had a great experience at Pep Boys in Dover.I needed tire repair asap and the service manager Timothy was able to fit me in between their appointments.Timothy was very helpful and professional.I was very impressed from the mechanic Eric.He was super knowledgeable and he was able to fix my tire using the patch plug combo very quickly.Eric was extremely friendly person with super positive attitude.I really hope Eric will get the raise he deserve,because employees like that are hard to find nowadays.I will personally recommend Pep Boys Dover to anybody i know.

The wait wasnt too bad. They are open on sundays which is a plus. The service guy did try to sell me 4 tires when I only needed two but I kind of expected that.Overall, I was satisfied.The bathroom needed a good cleaning though.Bring hand sanitizer if you go in there.🤢

They had my car for a couple hours today. Did a free break inspection and told us our breaks were fine (after the dealer told us they immediately needed to be done and quoted us 1300$) but while they were in there they even replaced a fuse for just the cost of the fuse. Total cost 3$ and change. Very honest guy. Will be doing all our future business there.

I already reviewed this service center before, but out of sheer convenience I took my wifes car for a synthetic oil change.....and again....they placed the wrong sticker on my car starting that I have 3000 miles after a synthetic oil change. A synthetic oil change should be 5000 to 7000 miles. Miy sticker reflects 3000 miles. Smh. I should have got it after my other vehicle had the same issue....just with conventional marked first, then crossed out. Only to change it to synthetic and still put 3000 miles to go before next ol change. At this point, I am questioning whether they just use conventional oil for ALL oil changes. I plan on taking both cars elsewhere and checking to see if conventional was used. I will follow up. But this is ridiculous. The techs have math issues or it is a bigger problem.....

I write this review as I sit in this FILTHY waiting room. I have been sitting in this place for 11/2 hours waiting for a tire rotation and balance. There are flies and gnats in here and the bathroom is unspeakable. The entire store is just plain dirty, and the employees are less than enthusiastic about being here.I can hear the music blaring from the work area. I watch them put my car in the air. They see me watching them, yet they are spendingmore time goofing off than working on my car. They are cursing, telling stories, f- this and f- that. They have no regard for the customers listening. I am offended by the disrespectful language, blatant disregard of my presence in the waiting room, and overall unprofessional service. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS STORE FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN!

I purchased 2 new tires. One of them keeps going flat. I had wait from opening to closing to be serviced and I still wasn’t serviced. I had to go somewhere else to get my tire fixed.
