I would describe this fishing outfit as a Cattlecall for deep-sea fishing, this company puts profit over people. There was absolutely no concierge service whatsoever. Our group was taken out on a rough day at sea and we had several people sick and actually injured on the boat. The crewmembers were more concerned with their buddies in the back of the boat then taking care of the injured and sick people on this boat. There was no running water that was offered to anyone sick to clean up after themselves. There was no first aid offered. The eight hour to 8 1/2 hour fishing trip was consumed by 4 1/2 hours of travel to and from the fishing locations. Having been on more classy fishing excursions, I would not recommend this to anyone expecting a compassionate first class experience.

Capt.Cliff knows where the fish are for sure. One of the deck hands is really loud and kinda rude and obnoxious but the other one was good- he did all the work while the other one talked about how good he is, etc.. It was entertaining at least and the fishing was great. Haha.

Well I wasn’t going to write a bad review, but I had to. Trip canceled at the last minute due to weather, but the check in lady didn’t show up until it was time to go, I had to call to see if they were going to show up. I understand the weather situation, but waiting until the last minute and not being in the office when check in time was 06:45 and no one showed up till time to cast off is unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Go next door to Destin Princess. They’re nice and kept their guests informed.

Had a great December Walk on Fishing trip with Capt Cliff & deckhands Randy and Jason. Parking was free and check in process was easy. Boat was well maintained and had all the right gear and tackle. Short 5 min trip from the outlet to the Gulf to maximize fishing time. Buckets of cut bait & squid were plentiful. We managed near limit of Vermillion Snapper for an 8 hour trip. Fish cleaning was quick & easy and provided by the deck hands. Everyone was friendly on the excursion and we felt clean and safe from Covid-19. I would book this trip again.

First time going deep sea fishing, it wasnt exactly what I thought it would be like but still fun. They take you to some really good spots so you are almost guaranteed to make at least one catch.Crew deck works hard throughout the trip so make sure you tip them at the end. I would recommend this charter for first time sea fishing just to see if its for you.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!Ive been out on a LOT of chartered fishing trips. Hands down this was the biggest waste of money.8 hour trip with less than 45 min of fishing. I get the part about getting out and coming back that takes time.We had high seas the day we went out. Ive been out in worse and had a good trip. I dint feel unsafe. Let me get that out there. The problem was that it was rough enough that everybody was tangled up and from what Ive read, they are ALWAYS short handed. This follows the pattern here. They are more concerned with saving money than with giving you a good trip. This is what they do. They KNEW it was rough water and the fishing wouldnt be good. The crew said over and over if we just go a bit longer the captain wont have to refund or reschedule. They were joking about it while they were cleaning some of the very few fish that were caught. These guys got an 7-1/2 hour boat ride. When we finally left (30 minutes late) we had to get fuel. (30 min) Theres an hour of our trip gone.God help you if you got tangled up. We hit about 4 places to fish. 2 of them we didnt get to fish because we were waiting on help from the ill prepared crew and didnt get it.It was just a joke. An absolute joke.Total waste of money and time.

Awesome experience, the captain Cliff Cox and his crew see to it that you have everything you need to be successful in your fishing trip, they take the fish off the hook, put them on a stringer which they provide, and pack them down on ice, once you return back at the harbor the crew will clean, filet your fish and pack it up in ice, I had such a great time Im going back in October for a 12 hour fishing excursion, October promises to be a great month for fishing deep in the Gulf of Mexico, if your ever in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida, look up the Sweet Jody for some great fishing

Book another boat if you can.Just got back off a fishing trip from(7-19-18) sweet Jody, Have to say we where disappointed. We had 8 people in our group so we called around to several places and they was the only one that could get us all in. After leaving dock it was about a hour / hour and half ride to the first fishing spot. After fishing for about 5 min. The captain decided to move spots so we pulled up lines and off we go. We might have moved a few hundred yards and we was fishing again for about 10 min, a few little fish was caught. So captain decided to move again so after another 10 mins of riding around we tried it again for about 5 min then piles up and off to another spot. After about 20 min we arrived at another spot but we didn’t get to fish here so we was off again. After about another 20 min ride we pulled to our last spot of fishing. We got to fish for 30 min or so. Then it was time to head back to dock.We did catch some fish but a lot of them we couldn’t keep, a lot of bait fish as the crew called it. Specking about crew there was the captain and two mates. With 35 + people fishing they need more than two mates helping people. They gave us small buckets with some bait in them. Well we ran out of bait so the started cutting up what they called bait fish up and giving us all. Another thing that was funny to me was when we get to first spot to fish the mates was going over things and then said if you need a towel the captain has them for two dollars. When we get back to the dock some other boats where there showing off there fish. Our fish could have been bait compared to the other boats fish. Book another boat I’m my opinion

This is more or less a locals only fishing club that will take your money to help fund their good time. I have fished on this boat many times. Their cash only policy says it all! Im done with SWEET JODY. You will find every boat in the harbor better and more comfortable for about the same price, and they all catch the same fish.

Save your money and your afternoon. Getting shipwrecked would have been a better time. Let me count the ways they made it evident that they no longer wanted business:1) They gave us wrong directions and we nearly missed the trip. If we hadnt planned on being there 45 minutes early, we would not have made it.2) We spent 5 1/2 hours on the water and only 18 minutes fishing. This will come back into play on another point.3) Despite us being on the water for nearly two hours, they didnt bother to teach us how to go about fishing until we were stopped. It was at this point that one teenager gave us a mumbled 20-second lesson as most of us were still trying to get close enough to hear.4) Incredibly rude. More than half of the people on the boat didnt quite hear the instructions, so about that many people made mistakes. The crew loudly (LOUDLY) made fun of each of us, calling us idiots and saying things like Ive never seen anyone F*** this up this bad before- How did that guy even do that?!5) During our 2 1/2 hour commute out to sea we were not fishing. By that I mean we, the people who paid money to take this trip, were not fishing. The crew, however, was. And every time they snagged something, the boat would stop for about 10 minutes to reel it in. This happened 5 or 6 times. Quick math: that means we missed out on a full hour of extra fishing that we had paid for.6) Even if you were able to snag a fish, the crew was there to help you. That is, they were they to help you unhook it as soon as they were done pulling theirs in. Which, again, took about 8-10 minutes. A couple of times one crew member would shout to another to help someone but the other didnt hear or would ignore his crewmate so the tourist was left without help until they demanded it with the help of other passengers.

My boyfriend and I are locals and let me just tell you, SAVE YOUR MONEY! There are less expensive fishing trips with far better service and that are much more fun than this one. The only reason we choose this one this time is because the one we had booked cancelled the day before due to not having enough people to go out on the boat. We booked this expecting the same great service we normally have at Pelician Adventures but we were WRONG.First off the boat was TINY! I mean EXTREMELY small! We could hardly move around the the boat and dont get me started on how we had to ATTEMPT to fish! We always expect to catch fish on these trips and by saying that I mean NICE and LARGE fish, or at least one large fish per each of us but this was not the case. They took us to small fishing holes with small fish. Now compared to where we normally go fishing this was a let down because it is pretty easy for them the track the fish and no matter what, all fishing is fun but we are used to by the time our line hits bottom we start to fish! Again, not the case.As far as the crew go, there are certain things that they should do for some of the fish that are not in season to keep them from dying when throwing them back in the water. But they did not do this. I know we are fishing but if it is a fish they we cannot keep, why let it die? They were not popping th bladders on the fish so they would be able to swim back down therefore those fish were just wasted and it is just wrong to do, BE A LITTLE RESPECTFUL ya know? As for their treatment, at first they seemed really nice......until we started fishing. Since the boat was small and they were trying to help everyone they were forgetting their manners at the same time. They were very pushy when trying to get by you and I am not that type of person nor the type of person who like to be pushed either. All they had to do, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE BOAT WAS SO SMALL, was say excuse me and I would have gladly moved aside had I seen or heard them. Instead they just walked and pushed you out of the way which was very rude considering the fact that it was also rough seas so I was already doing my very best to keep my balance. So, all in all, my boyfriend paid almost $150 for us to go fishing and we basically came back empty handed. I could show you pictures of our other trip compared to this and you would surely be able to see there is a HUGE difference in the amount of fish and type of fish we caught. Not to also mention the fact that we normally come back very happy from our trip instead of miserable! So if you choose this boat, I warn you ahead of time.

I went on a charter with Sweet Jody Fishing with my brother and a friend. The fishing experience wasnt exceptional nor poor, but the deck hands we had to deal with. . . WOWThey mention at the beginning of the charter that the initial price is cheaper because the deck hands work for tips, and tell you that $35 is what is expected from each person on the charter. Ok, fine. The five or six times they RANTED about it through the trip were unnecessary.More than once myself, or someone I saw, had a question for one of the deck hands. Species identification, catch limits etc. . . They generally offered rude responses if any at all. I caught a fish, brought it up and asked one of the gentleman what it was. He didnt answer me, only proceeded to club the fish five or eight times (still on the hook! the fish wasnt flopping around on deck or anything) and then fling it back telling me not a keeper. I knew it wasnt a keeper, but I still asked a question! As we began heading back, someone obviously said something one of the deck hands didnt like. This threw him into an at least 20 minute (we timed it for 20, not sure how long it was going before we got there) rant about how his services are unappreciated. He kept going on about how if yall dont like it you can go somewhere else. This wasnt a conversation that he had with a few people, I went up on the upper deck to get away from it, and even with him leaning on the back rail of the boat, I could still clearly hear him.We get back to shore. . . fish cleaning is included in the charter, and everyone knows its going to take awhile. The fact that the deck hands were taking swigs of Crown Royal aside. . . the guy goes on ANOTHER RANT! He spent a good 12-15 minutes cussing and going on about how yall dont need all this f*ing fish. He also complained that people kept too much fish saying its about the experience, not feeding your family for a f*ing month. One of the deckhands was slightly less vulgar and rude as the other, we were glad he was the one who cleaned our fish. . . the other guy was leaving obviously large portions on the carcasses. Yes, he was fast, but he was leaving a significant amount of meat on every fish he filleted.Again, our big issue was that all these items were not side comments made to one or two people, these were discussed in a raised voice for everyone to hear.If this had been an establishment we couldve walked out of, we would have!
