Had the best experience with Captain Matt on our family fishing trip!! He was so accommodating and knowledgeable and kept us on the fish the WHOLE time. We had our two sons with us (9 and 4) and he made sure that they were able to enjoy the whole deep sea fishing experience as well! We came up on some mahi toward the end of the trip and despite being in a crunch for time, he stopped and had us pulling them up one after the other…it was so awesome. Cap Matt was an awesome ocean chauffeur. It was only me and a family member going and we had a great time. Matt made us feel as if we had all been friends for a long time. Capt Matt was honestly hands down the best experience we have had in the last ten years of going deep sea fishing. We stopped in several spots and caught different types of fish in each spot. If the fish quit bitting we quickly moved to a new spot and started reeling them in again. All in all Capt Matt knows his spots, and knows how to get you on them. Thanks Matt see you next year.

Captain Matt is INCREDIBLE. He booked us in the day before and was extremely accommodating with our last minute request. We were scheduled on Wednesday June 17th. He was extremely professional, and his directions to get there, where to park, and how to get on the boat were so accurate and idiot proof for someone that is a little directionally challenged like me 😂!He was on time, and ready to go even 15 minutes prior to take off when we showed up. His boat was SQUEAKY clean. When we showed up, he had ice in his cooler already to go for us to put our drinks/lunch in.His safety briefing was through, hilarious at all the right times, and made us feel like we were in great hands. He had a small bathroom under the deck (which was very clean!) and he gave us directions on how to use it.When the fishing started. He was ready with dead bait, but had us fish for live bait for an even better time. We caught so much bait at the direction of Captain Matt, that we didn’t even have to stop and buy any!He was very informative of where to sit on the boat if you didn’t want to feel the waves as much.When the fishing started, he knew exactly where to go like he had Poseidon powers!! The moment we dropped the lines with the bait that he loaded up on our hooks, we started pulling up fish. At each spot, we were pulling up fish left and right! When we caught a shark, Captain Matt encouraged and coached us all the way through until the shark pulled off. He even gave all of us a chance to have a turn!Even though he was a one man show, there wasn’t 3 minutes where we didn’t go without bait on our hooks. He was working hard making sure we were all accommodated and equipt with everything needed to pull in some great fish!We caught way more fish than we kept, but we kept 7 red snapper, 2 mangrove snappers, and one fairly hefty (delicious) grouper. We hooked on a few larger fish as well, but the tax collector came along and took his share 🦈 🐟When we got back, we took pictures of the catch that he presented for us on the dock. After the obligatory fisherman photos, Captain Matt filleted all the fish beautifully for us, put it in ziplocks on ice. We then took it to Harbor Dock per one of his dock neighbors recommendation and they cooked it for us for $14 a plate including sides! I haven’t stopped thinking about how great fish tasted that you caught less than two hours before being presented on a plate to you.Try to bring a few boxes of the gallon Ziplock brand baggies! He will happily use them for you and other customers to sort the different fillets and separate ones that you want to take up to Harbor Dock to get cooked.I couldn’t imagine going on another boat trip and even comparing to how great the trip was with Captain Matt. If you’re considering the party boat, don’t. If you don’t go with a Captain Matt with Destin Go Fishing, you really missed out on the best guided deep sea fishing trip of your life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND DESTIN GO FISHING!!!

Matt gave us a great trip. Fun guy to visit with and had a lot of knowledge about the area. Put us on a lot of large trigger and some real good snapper. At the end of the trip he made a quick stop and got us on some nice amber jack. Over all great time, ill fish with Matt again!

We have charted many fishing trips in our life but this was by far the best. Matt does a great job from beginning to end. He thoroughly covered all safety aspects of the trip immediately. We then proceeded to catch bait which was as fun as the fishing. He worked extremely hard as we caught fish after fish. The best part, however, is that he caters his trip to each persons level of experience making it enjoyable for a rookie and a veteran fishing together. That is an art that separates Matt from a lot of other captains. To top off an already wonderful day, he stayed out an extra one and half hours as my wife fought a shark. He didnt even charge us for the extra time. You can tell he truly loves to fish and put people on fish. We will never charter with anyone else in the area.

He was very reasonably priced and went above and beyond to make sure he took my family out when the weather was going to be good so they had the best experience. Went on a trip with Matt at the end of May had a great time. I have lived on the gulf coast for ten years, for my first saltwater fishing experience, I was extremely satisfied. Capt. Matt put us on the fish early on and stayed on them, unfortunately the weather turned sour and rough and the bite died out but we caught snapper grouper and trigger. I would definitely recommend Destin go fishing.

This was absolutely this best off-shore (near-shore as they call it in Florida) fishing trip I have ever been on!!!! Capt. Matt is a very informative and environment minded fisherman and will put you on fish!!!! My wife and I had an absolute blast. We caught snapper and trigger fish from the get go and once we limited out we were on a mission to get something larger on the line. Capt Matt hooked me into an Amberjack and it was the best thing I have ever done fishing wise. We landed the fish and were able to release it safely. AWESOME TRIP!!!!! Would reccomend DESTIN GO FISHING to anyone wanting to catch fish and chase big ones all in the same trip!!!!

Captain Matt has provided me with a few of the best fishing experiences of my life! You see, Captain Matt is a local who knows the waters around the Destin area like no other. He knows where all the best honey hole spots are for bottom fishing if red snapper and grouper is what you are looking for. Theres been a couple times where I hooked into something so big, fishing off the bottom that I thought my line was gonna snap on the way up and he didnt let you give up on it or loose it. Turned out to be some very nice size grouper! A couple summers ago it was just his best deck mate (his son) and I , and as we were cruising out to the deeper waters, he spotted a floating bed of seaweed that had sea birds hovering above it. The floating bed was teaming with bait fish underneath it. Thats where he headed. We started throwing our lines towards the edges of the floating weed mass with live baits and bam! The onslaught was on! We hooked into a school of Mahi Mahi and caught our limit (10 per person) within less than what seemed like a half an hour! I mean these were some gorgeous fish! Definitely one of the best adrenaline rushes I have ever had while fishing. Captain Matt knows how to catch them deep or on the top water if trolling for Mackerel is the kind of fight you are looking for. Definitely would recommend him. I make the trip from Atlanta every summer!

Matt will make sure you catch fish and have a good time.He knows how to fish in the Destin waters and can hold a spot if you want to bottom fish. He is also a really good top water fisherman too. He is very knowledgeable and has obviously been fishing the local waters a long time. You will definitely have a good day on the water if you go fishing with Captain Matt.Mattt has helped me catch: Amberjack, Red Snapper, Trigger Fish, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Scamp Grouper, Snowy Grouper, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Red Fish or Red Drum, Saltwater Trout, Lemon Shark, Hammer Head Shark, Bull Shark, Spinner Shark, Mahi Mahi (Dolphin)(my favorite fish to catch), Black Fin Tuna, Bonito Tuna, and tons and tons of bait during my many trips with him.
