My cousin, his 17 year old son, and I went deep sea fishing with Lions Tale Adventures. None of us had any real fishing experience, but that didnt matter at all. Captain Lionel took great care of us. We caught red as well as vermilion snapper and trigger fish. We also reeled in a 4 sandbar shark! (He jumped right back into the ocean 3 seconds after that photo was snapped!) As a bonus, we enjoyed the dolphin that kept us company waiting for fish we released. We had a blast and want to do it again!

Had an AMAZING experience with Captain Steve and Captain Lionel. We came over Memorial Day weekend for my som who loves fishing, my daughter and I tend to get sea sick. BUT I’m happy to say that we had a fantastic day - the action was non-stop and we caught a large variety of fish. The equipment was professional and clean, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. Great trip and an awesome action packed day! I booked the tarpon trip for my family and I but we got so much more! We went from red snapper, triggerfish and nearly landing some monsters to catching nothing but bull reds. Went on their dolphin cruise before sunset near the Destin bridge and there were so many dolphins! There were other boats in the area too, much larger, but I loved that I was close enough to the water to put my GoPro in and capture underwater footage. They swam right up and I was so close, absolutely incredible! Highly recommend.

I have not fished with anyone at lions tale adventures but was referred to Captain Adam at Ignite the Bite in destin. Booked a trip with Adam a week before for Adam to say his boat messed up the afternoon before meeting him to fish. Come to find out, Adam overbooked and completely screwed us over. All the while when he was supposedly getting his boat fixed, telling us he would make time for us the entire week we were in destin for him to say he cant take us. Do not trust referrals from lions tale cause they are not trusted

We had the most absolutely perfect and once in a lifetime fishing experience with Captain Lionel on our Tarpon fishing excursion. He was so persistent and determined for us to land a tarpon and get our money’s worth of course and oh boy, that he sure did!!!We landed a tarpon that was 85 inches long with a 39 inch girth weighing approximately 200 pounds that pulled us out miles from shore!!! He said it was the biggest any clients have ever landed thus far, and I am just super ecstatic that it was my husband & me!I fought it on my own for 2 & a half hours until I just couldn’t anymore - I was so determined and wanted to land her all on my own, but I decided to let my husband finish her out the last 30 minutes. It was definitely some team work going on and great coaching from Captain as we were all nervously trying to wear the tarpon out and land her.And oh my, what an absolute beauty she was!! I wanted to cry but held back the tears. It was an extremely special and significant few moments for sure after fighting with her for so long and then being able to put my hands on her in the water. I just don’t have enough adequate words to be able to describe such a wonderful and perfect moment and experience!We can’t thank Captain and Jay enough for their endurance through it all and we are so looking forward to next time!!!I promise you won’t be disappointed!! We asked the Captain for a Captains Choice fishing trip and what we got was an adventure of a lifetime! We limited out on red snapper and triggerfish, caught mangrove snapper, vermillion snapper, one 24 inch redfish and 2 bull redfish. It was to say the least EPIC! Rarely do you go home tired from reeling up fish, but we did just that! Capt. Lionel James has been a feature on several famous fishing shows like Addictive Fishing and it is obviously for good reason!

This trip was totally worth it! Captain Lionel is an awesome host and guide. Our family loved this trip, and we will definitely be going back the next time were in town. Our Midwest family saw: Spinner Sharks, Tiger Shark, Jelly Fish, Vermilion Snapper, Bonito, Dolphins and Sting Ray all in 4 hours. Captain Lionel knows his stuff. Hes great with kids. Hes helpful at baiting and taking fish off hooks. My wife and daughter got sick on the water, and he was great at improvising so that we all still had a great time. He also cleaned our fish when we got back. The kids will talk about this trip for a long time. I highly recommend this fish charter.

As someone who loves fishing but never gets to go enough, I was thrilled to head out on the water with Captain Lionel. We got to see a group of dolphins on the way as we looked for schools of redfish, and once we came upon the fish it was GAME ON! We had a blast casting/hooking monster redfish and I was so impressed with his fishing knowledge. Overall it was an awesome experience that I cant wait to do again!

I cannot say a word about Captain one way or the other... here is my story. We live on the lake in Alabama and bring our center console to the beach every year several times. Hubby owns an HVAC company and fishes when he is not working on commercial air... this year was different with all the closings and then a hurricane hit orange beach which is where we normally take the boat so we decided to book a condo in Destin and look for a charter in Destin instead of taking the boat to waters hubby was not used to navigating. He did extensive research and liked what he saw with captain Lionel and booked... we got to the beach and the weather was supposed to be questionable but has been gorgeous. He fished one inshore charter with another captain which was the plan but kept trying to confirm the trip that was scheduled with captain Lionel all week for Thursday and kept getting no answers. The night before the charter still no answer and no response to text or emails from the office so on Wed night we asked for a deposit refund due to no response and the girl responded with I had to do my real job. No response means the trip is still on... but we are going to cancel all trips due to weather.... sooooo. We booked through another captain and have had a great vacation. Captain Lionel may be great but we don’t know that because his business practices were lacking. We know that because we do customer service everyday. I would book with someone else... this was not our first fishing charter and have done many but this was without a doubt the worst communication and customer service we have ever gotten.

Did a 4hr trip with Cpt. Steve in the am July 4th on short notice. Everything was timely and the 6 of us were 1 short of limiting out on red snapper. We did get a grouper and black snapper so it was all good. Enjoyed the knowledge and conversation passed by Steve. He spent extra time making sure there was action at all times.

My girls come down every winter and this time we all wanted to do something different, that we could capture memories to talk about for years. After doing some research I found Lions Tale Adventures, and seeing that they offered fishing and dolphin trips, it was an easy choice!! Capt. Lionel was AMAZING. We were picked up a a beautiful water front restaurant, quick ride to our fishing spots and soon as we got there we were all hooked up! it was actually very surprising to catch fish as fast as we did and we caught fish our entire trip. On our way back in Capt Lionel took us along the beach and we were able to see dolphins.. BEAUTIFUL! We got super close as they came right up to the boat.. For 6 ladies on the boat that have never been on the water/fishing he was absolutely amazing with all of us. Extremely patient, entertaining and professional though the our entire trip. Captain Lionel is so fun to spend a day on the water with! We took a girls trip out (fishing isn’t just for the guys). We got to spend time spotting dolphins before we took off to deeper water to fish. He knew exactly where to find the reefs and knew exactly what would be biting and how to catch them. I took my son out with Captain Lionel for day of fun on the water. Couldnt believe how easily he took to him, Capt. Lionel was so patient & fun with him and he caught so many fish! On our girls trip to destin we booked a trip with Capt. Lionel. Dealing with four women who have never been on a boat let along caught a fish... let me say Capt. Lionel was exceptional!!!!! Number 1 his patience with us was outstanding!! , of course we were running a little late getting there but we were greeted with a huge smile. He made sure we were comfortable the entire day and when we needed to, he had no problems running us to the nearest place to use the bathroom!! We caught plenty of fish and our first fish period but being comfortable on the boat and laughing all trip really made our girls trip! Literally just stepped off of a fishing trip with Capt Lionel and Jayden and could not wait to leave a review. The pair were fantastic and absolutely accommodating. The entire process from booking with Cali (who responded so timely and so professional) to the trip itself was exactly what we were hoping for.Capt immediately put us on red snapper. Now mind you, we brought along a 6 year old, an 8 year old (who actually had been sick at the beginning of the week and they checked on her too!) and a 13 year old. Their patience as our kids got used to what they were doing was nothing short of amazing. Awesome day on the water! Got a limit of of red snapper and pulled on those till our arms were tired!! We decided to head for the beaches I search of the iconic emerald coast reds! Capt. Lionel put us on BIG redfish and many of them! Capt. Lionels skill and understanding is evident as we were hooked up at every spot when other guides were struggling for bites! I have been with other Destin guides and Capt. Lionel is by far the best one!

I honestly can’t even put into words how incredible Lionel and Cali were! They are a great team and answered all of my questions coming from denver and not knowing what booking a boating trip like this would be like. Cali answered all my questions and emailed me back very promptly and ensured we’d be able to do what we wanted. She even created kind of a custom trip for my family because I was worried about my 10 year old daughter getting sea sick. Basically this small business and awesome team of 2 made our entire vacation so amazing we booked to stay a day longer based on some recommendations the captain (Lionel) made for us. The price was completely worth our trip and bottom line is my daughter got to see dolphins, a manatee, caught the biggest red fish I’ve ever seen; go to crab island and caught a ton of cat fish. You know when you meet someone for the first time and it’s like you’ve known them forever? That’s the way I felt when I met Captain Lionel James. One of my daughter’s literally caught a fish on her first cast! Actually he made every cast for her and my wife and other daughter. So basically we showed up with an empty cooler, caught a bunch of fish and left with the cooler full of fish, filleted and individually bagged in ice.Thank you for a great experience. I wanted a a fishing adventure for my lady and I, and that’s just what we got! We booked a trip with Lions Tale Adventures the day before we left, and we knew the chance of getting on a boat last minute was slim. We called Lion’s Tale Adventures wanting to go out with Capt. Lionel, but unfortunately he was already booked. After talking with them, they informed us that one of their other guides (Capt Steve Burks) was available instead. We went with him instead and it was great! Steve is a jokester and had us laughing the entire trip. We caught our limit of snapper, some really big sharks, amberjacks all from the comfort of a 30ish foot big boat. We will be booking again next year for sure and recommending all of our friends to do the same! Capt. Lionel should be proud of the guys he has on his team -Professional, personal, and fish catching guides!
