After being a faithful customer to The Hartford for over ten years, I finally moved all my accounts to Allstate. During that term I asked for better rates on my three cars and my two homes. They could never accommodate. I then contacted Allstate, and without drama, they came out with comparable and/or better policies that saved me almost a thousand (1000) dollars. After cancelling my policies at The Hartford, they adjusted my refund by tacking almost 100 dollars in fees for early cancellation. I contacted The Hartford and asked for an adjustment, again they could do nothing about it.I strongly recommend that if you are a customer, and a senior citizen of The Hartford Insurance, call another provider and check their rates. It is my opinion that AARP should reconsider their endorsement of this insurance provider.

My employer uses The Hartford for disability benefits. I’ve had a claim open for almost four months now and have been given the runaround at every possible opportunity. They first sent a form dealing with physical limitations for my completely mental based issues and told me repeatedly that there was no form dealing with the mental side. Finally when I spoke with a supervisor he sent their standard form for mental issues over to my doctor. They’ve had this information for almost three months now and it’s delay after delay after delay. Any time they do ANYTHING it’s a five business day delay AND I never hear back, I have to call them to get any information at all. Not only that, I’ve only spoken to my claim handler once after leaving messages for both her and her supervisor multiple times (and their voicemail says they’ll call you back the same day if the message is left by a certain time). This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with any company ever. At this point I’m losing hope to ever get this claim approved. I’m going to the BBB.

It has been surprisingly difficult to arrange a medical examination for life insurance.

The Hartford sucks in senior citizens with low rates the the huge increases begin with no explanation. AARP should be ashamed endorsing this insurance company to its members.

My neighbor and me had the same damages but she had Farmers, the Adjuster got there one day later after her call and got her money a few days later, Me, I called Hartford and the Adjuster showed up 10 days later and the damages were 4500 dollars, He said that all these damages could be fixed calling a plumber and could be around 1500 dollars. Anyway 3 days latter the State Engineer Office called me giving me the Contractors Insurance Co. Number, they paid me 4500 dollars. Hartford is a cheap insurance co. After that I bought insurance from Farmers, you pay more and you get more, you pay cheap and get nothing, that s Hartford.

Most impossible company to deal with. I have been trying for two and a half days to make a repayment to them from when they over paid me while on short term disability. They say I can call and make payment through their automated line but when I do they try to charge me $65 more than what their records show I owe. From what I can tell they only have one person that can help with this situation and they never answer their phone and their mailbox is full.
