Stopped by for a used car inspection - great experience. Found a rebuilt title car that seemed to have very little damage - John was able to point out several issues and potential issues after only looking over the car for a few minutes. Gave his advice on several other models I was considering. Whole visit took less than 20 minutes and he seemed like a really honest guy. Inspection was about $60 with tax. For any standard repairs would come back here with no hesitation.

2000/10 experience. Johns honest and really looks at root issues of cars so you dont need to address it again. He thoroughly explains whats going on and is there to help. After negative experiences at other shops, he empathized and diagnosed my car issues quick and communicated throughout the entire time my car was at the shop. I cant say enough about him and am so grateful I know about him! He really knows cars - he gives advice and can point out potential future issues or things to look for. My daughter was driving back from CA to CO and her heater was not working. I found John on Google, called him and he had it figured out and fixed in 90 minutes. The Ford dealership in UT said it was going to take 2 days.

John Kruger Automotive is a fantastic shop. I own several vehicles and take all of them to John. This says a lot as I have an automotive background and have worked on my own vehicles for years. Beleive me when I say I am picky about who I will allow to work on my own cars. John knows what he is doing, he is straight with you on diagnosing issues, and does quality work. This shop is not the cheapest in town but they do quality work, use good parts, and stand behind their work. Ive been a customer for two years and been very happy with the service that I have received. I highly recommend them.

I recently had my truck worked at this shop and the service was top notch and the price was very reasonable. I was quoted a reasonable price for some suspension work. I had to leave town right after I left the truck at the shop and didnt return for a couple days. When I did return I found out that John had been able to source the necessary parts at a cheaper price (due to being able to wait a little longer to get the job done) unbeknownst to me and therefore he charged me less than he quoted me. Im definitely bringing my business to John again, I have not found this level of integrity, honesty and workmanship in many places, let alone at a reasonable price.

John is first and foremost a very kind person and on top of it all he is very honest and will not try and make you do unnecessary repairs and charge you for them, but will help you get your car back on the road with the repairs that are only necessary at the time.My alternator went out so I went to John to replace it for me and had him look at a few other problems I was having (popping/clicking noises coming from my front passenger side tire when I made turns, and leaking oil from somewhere that I could not find and the people at Jiffy Lube did not know either). While he was working on my alternator he looked at the other problems and found that the clicking popping was coming from my CV joint that was failing. He looked at the other side and saw that it was almost about to start do the same thing. He advised to have them both replaced and of course many of you are probably thinking typical mechanic, however, when he looked at the oil leak he said that where it was coming from would require him to open up a lot more areas which would require more work and more time and he recommended not to worry about the leak because the leak was so minimal and it isnt causing any damage at this time. He said that my timing belt would need to be changed in about 60,000 miles (my car is at 146000 right now) anyway and that would be the best time to figure out the leak because he would already need to be up in there anyway.So I know long story and a lot of ranting, but seriously he is an awesome mechanic that will not try and sell you on things that you dont need at the time and wants to get you back on the road as soon as possible. I would highly recommend going to John Kruger Automotive if you need any repairs for your vehicle!!!

Great shop. I have gone to John for years. He has kept my personal and business vehicles running. He is fair and honest. He has done everything from routine maintenance to a full blown custom transmission. I completely trust John and his crew.

I highly recommend John Kruger Automotive! John and his crew diagnosed and repaired the problems with my car in a correct and timely fashion. But, what really impressed me was Johns honesty, integrity and overall character. I am completely ignorant in all car-related topics. He could have said, Your car has X problems and you need to pay thousands of dollars to get your car fixed. In my desperation, I probably would have paid him and been ripped off. However, he did not. John cares more about serving his customers than lining his pockets with more cash. I have been to John Kruger Automotive multiple times. Some repairs have cost more than others, but I knew that each bill that I received was fair and correct for the parts and services that were rendered.

Was VERY impressed with John and his shop today. I Have just recently moved to Salt Lake from Boise Idaho and have had trouble looking for an honest mechanic. I think I have found my guy. John and his staff are completely honest and straightforward. They rarely have made any mistakes in years of taking cars there, and when they did they always made it right. Able to diagnose and repair at great rates no matter the vehicle-- my old Toyota van, my brand new Honda, even my VW and my Volvo.

The service was professional. I had an engine mount that got lose, causing the engine to rattle. I was expecting the service to take a few days, but he was able to finish it within 2 days. He worked me in on a Friday and found a very simple and inexpensive solution to a front end clunk in my minivan. He called me back when I left a message, and was always nice and professional. I never dealt with anyone else but him while on the phone. I found my new mechanic!

I called in to check if they will have time to check my van about a noise when I accelerate and also for a tune up. John said that theres about 6 cars in the shop right now. I asked for an estimate how long it might take before he can get to mine and I told him I need the van to check out some cars today for our 2nd vehicle. He said he doesnt know but he might have time to just check mine in between. He told me the soonest I can bring in the car the better. I arrived to his shop around 11:50am today, I didnt have lunch and waited until 2:30pm. Finally, I decided to ask John whats going on. He told me theres one car in front of me at this point and it might take another hour or two. He said sorry. He thought he might have some time to check it. After wasting my 2.5 hours. For me time is valuable. Time is money. I wish he was sensitive/concered enough to tell/update me earlier so I didnt have to waste my time. I thought he will keep his word when he said he will look into it. I know he didnt promise a specific hour/time but its not fair to tell a customer you will check it when you get a chance and yet make them wait so long. Its also not fair not telling your customer an estimate how long before you can check your vehicle. I really felt like I was given hope for nothing. I took my keys back and left. I dont have the whole afternoon to waste. I will not go back to this place.

I reached out to John Kruger Automotive on a recommendation from a good friend. I had suspension issues that needed repair on my Toyota Tacoma. When my wife brought it in to be looked at, John recognized an issue with the damaged leaf spring that could break my fuel line (Toyota has since issued a recall on this). He thought it would be dangerous to keep driving. My wife did not have time to be stranded at the shop while being fixed. A member a Johns team drove her where she needed to go.When Toyota issued its recall 2 years later, they required a letter from our mechanic to certify it was repaired by them. John promptly returned a signed letter within days of us contacting him for it.In short, the entire team at John Kruger Automotive was helpful and responsive in everything weve needed from them.

Did an expensive piston/cylinder rebuild after my timing belt broke. Had I chaned the belt would have saved a couple of grand. Thought all was good but they didnt even change out the tensioners so the belt starting going bad again within the year. 3 mechanics and all of google tells me its standard to change the tensioner, water pump, etc when you change a timing belt. John Kruger has the gall to tell me that they only change it if it goes bad even though every article on the subject says timing belt and tensioners typically go bad at the same time. He wasnt looking out for my best interest but not so. Paid another 600 or so for new timing belt, tensioner and even the water pump he installed went bad.

Kruger Auto found the root of my Jeeps problem in one visit; where another shop (in Draper) failed to identity the root issue after I left my car with them 4 different times! Kruger A. is now my go-to shop in SLC.

I have been going to the shop for almost 15 years. Everytime Im treated like a VIP, and I am treated fairly and honestly.
