They’re always super helpful! I feel like they balance that fine line of truly trying to take care of all their customers in a timely and cost effective manner. It’s nice when you find a mechanic you love—it’s even nicer when they’re close by! I’m almost tempted to not review because I want to keep them a secret 🤣

I’m skeptical of most shops. I love the honesty and professionalism here. They are easy to work with and do a great job. I’ve been there a few times so far and Mark has taken time to fully explain what was wrong with my car and the best solution to fix it, even if it wasn’t his shop that could do the work. I’m thankful to have found a shop like this close to my house.

They were fabulous to work with! They understood the problem and worked quickly to make the repair. They also were incredibly honest and recommended a good transmission place to do other needed repairs, rather than pretending they could do it. Love them! Will definitely return!

I called Mark at Cottonwood after my car door handle broke off. They were able to order a new handle in the correct color for my vehicle. They fit me in that same week and were able to get the repair done quickly. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of everyone at the shop. Ive known Mark and the guys for many years now. They have always treated me fairly and take care to do good work.

Unprofessional, uneducated and the worst mechanic in the area. Waited over 2 weeks to have my car looked at because it was having problems. I went in twice to have it looked at and they told me they were too busy to look at it. The first time I went in they told me they were too busy and to come back in a week, which I did. The second time I went back, they told me they could not help me fix it. They hadn’t even looked at my car to make a fair judgement to see if they could fix it. As a “business” you would assume they would want to have customers. I question how they have this many good reviews when it’s always the same cars in front of the building. Save your time and go somewhere else that is professional and will actually try to help you.

I was having issues with my car ignition on a holiday weekend when my regular shop was closed (of course). I called Cottonwood Auto Care for help, they listened to my description of the problem, and were able to recommend a mobile locksmith that could come to me and fix the problem. I really appreciated that they recommended a different service that would be more appropriate to my needs (and less costly than having my car towed in to the shop). They did everything I asked, routine maintenance and diagnosed an issue I was having. Mark doesn’t do the repair job I needed on my make and model of Lexus (said he did it once and would never do it again! 😂), but suggested who would be best to do the job. I have taken my car there for over 20 years. They are professional, kind, and they do great work. I have never had a problem with any of their repairs and they are always reasonably priced. As a single woman I feel good about taking my car in knowing that they will do what needs to be done and nothing more.

My vehicle started having some serious overheating issues, coolant was disappearing quickly. I was prepared for them to say it was leaking in the engine... but it was just a radiator cap! It was just evaporating out and losing pressure. $40 total for cap and coolant flush. Could have convinced me it was much worse. Drives up and down the canyons with no issue now

I have had Mark, the owner, service my vehicles.for years. He doesnt give me the dumb blonde treatment: He explains what needs to be done, does it for the agreed upon price, and shows me the part(s) he replaced.. His mechanics will pick you up when your car is ready. He gives a discount for paying cash. I wouldnt go anywhere else--in fact I once had my car towed from Layton so he could do the work!

I hadnt ever taken our vehicles to Cottonwood Auto Care. We found ourselves in a time-crunch over vehicle registration and required immediate emissions testing. The place we often go was booked solid for over a week so I decided to give Cottonwood a call. They were able to get us right in and we were home by 9:30 a.m. I will definitely recommend them to friends and will certainly use them again. We were treated in an exemplary manner.

Obviously you’re having a bad day when you go get your car fixed for whatever reason. BUT They put a smile on my face, made me laugh, and went above and beyond to get my car in on time and were very personal and upfront about everything. If you are in the Cottonwood Heights area, definitely your go to.

These guys are amazing. We have had a car with 285k miles on it... we had assumed we had a head gasket issue, but one day my husband was driving home from work and it overheated so we took it to cottonwood auto. They called and said it was just the radiator. Easy fix and amazing results, (they could have told us it was a bigger issue- so they had the opportunity to screw us and we wouldn’t have know any better—- but they didn’t!) And that vehicle is still running 6+ months later. Today we took a truck in because we thought it had some wheel barring issue. They had it for a few hours, Test drove it, put it on the lift and inspected for noises and found no issues. No charge. Stand up guys 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

My family will forever use this place for any future auto repair needs! Last week we panicked to get one of our cars to a shop and fixed asap. My boyfriend was laid off his previous job earlier in the month and started a new one the following week. His car hasnt been used for a year due to the pandemic. We found this shop and called for quotes on replacing a starter (what we thought was the issue). The suggested cost was cheaper than most places. Not to mention they didnt care if we brought in the part! Long story short, the issue ended up being the after market remote unlock/anti theft system. I went and bought a new battery and the car started up. The mechanics were so kind. They explained this happens so often and didnt make us feel dumb about it. When I went to pay, they told us not to worry. I could have cried. I reassured it was okay and they suggested we just bring them lunch. This was a true blessing for us financially. So, I went straight for a couple meat pizzas! Its the least we could have done. Please use these guys! They are amazing and have no mal intent on upcharging you! Ive already set them up with future clients myself!

Cottonwood Auto Care goes above and beyond. When my car broke down, they got me in and finished that day. They were so kind and even followed up to make sure I knew when they closed and would get my car back before the end of the day. I brought one of the children I nanny with me and he was looking at the collectors cars displayed and saying he liked them. I told him maybe we would get him one for his birthday. When I got my car back they had left special cars in there with a note that said “Happy Birthday”. The people here at Cottonwood Auto Care genuinely do care. 10/10 recommend and will definitely go back with any other car needs.

Brought my 20 year old Ranger here last week. They had it returned in about a day. I wasnt sure exactly what was wrong with it but asked them to look at a few different things. They were honest about what needed to be replaced and more importantly didnt replace anything that didnt need it. Prices were in line with what they should be and service was friendly. I needed brake work done which they took care of in a timeframe much sooner than I had originally expected and at the price I was initially quoted.

Incredible service, Walt is the man and answered all my questions and got my emissions and renewal done in a timely fashion. They didn’t try to upsell me on stuff I didn’t need, no mention of how much work I needed done (my dads a retired mechanic I know my car is fine) they are just honest hardworking people making a legitimate living without screwing people over. This was my first visit to Cottonwood Auto, but I will definitely be back for future car needs. Mark and his team were able to diagnose and fix the issue with my car within a day, saving me lots of worry, time, and potential damage had they not been able to address the issue. Mark was accommodating and upfront about what the problem was, how much it would cost, how long it would take, etc. When I came to pick up my vehicle, Mark showed me pictures of the repaired area and explained exactly what he found and how he fixed it. This sort of transparency and fairness seems harder to find these days, but Cottonwood Auto Care has it.Although I hope not to be too frequent a customer, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these guys, nor would I hesitate to go back should the need arise.

This was the first time I visited the Cottonwood Auto Care. They fixed my car in a very timely manner at very reasonable prices. They didnt try to upsell me on any fixes I didnt need, which drives me crazy. I will definitely come back! I do wish they had a more hidden place to drop my key, but at least they do have an after hours drop.

Took in my 1997 Kia Sephia, kinda a rare car still on the road, Mark was awesome. He completed my work ahead of schedule, prices are very fair, and I felt like he was being very honest with me. It would have been easy to “Find” a host of issues on the car, but Mark didn’t do that. I will be taking my cars here for as long as I can.

These guys have integrity and are straight up.When we need our older model BMW serviced, we will drive down from SLC to have this crew take care of it. I am totally comfortable leaving it in their care, AND I know the job will be done right. They will get OEM parts if thats my preference, and theyll charge reasonably for labor. The biggest plus is that I know the work will be done much faster than the dealership and with far less inconvenience.

Mark and the guys here are awesome! Super friendly, honest and reasonably priced. I was taking a road trip with the family and wanted my car looked at to make sure it was ready to make the trip. I went to a competitor because Mark didn’t have a appointment available before I wanted to leave. They gave me a list of things that they said needed to be fixed right away (over $2000 in total) I went back to Cottonwood Auto Care and Mark squeezed me in and walked through the list with me. Only half the things on the list actually need fixing and none of them needed immediate attention. I won’t take my vehicles anywhere else.

This is my first time ever writting a review online and, for me, Cottonwood Auto deserves every bit of a five star rating.I dont even live close to Cottonwood Heights area. I was driving on the 2-15 on my way into work and my car suddenly made a strange noise and my check engine light came on and my car started to slow down and the power steering was going out.I immediately pulled off the closest exit and got into a safer area with no traffic. I Googled auto shops close to me and Cottonwood Auto was about 2 minutes away.Called them up, explained my situation, and they said to come on in.I dropped it off, Ubered into work, and about 4 or 5 hours later they called me to let me know the belt had come off and they had fixed the issue. They gave me, what I considered, to be a very generous price and great customer service.Highly recommended. They really helped me out.

Mark was absolutely lovely. I just relocated from Australia, bought a car and had instant issues with overheating. I called a few local places (many of whom were rude and wanted to charge $60 just to even pop the hood). When I called mark and explained the cars issue he was able to recommend a few things over the phone, said to bring it in and he will have a quick look and see if it’s anything easy. Brought the car In and the belt was broken, cost $100 to fix it for parts and labour. He was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the whole thing, a really good guy! Would 100% recommend!

Took my car in because it was making a funny noise when I started it. My husband thought I probably needed a new starter. They checked it, told me there was nothing wrong with it, and I was on my way. Their oil changes are always quick. I’ve been going there for years, and will continue . Btw, the noise stopped too!

I took my vehicle into Cottonwood Auto Care for a squeaking noise... I figured it was my brake pads and asked them to check them and change them if necessary. They checked it all out and found it was something else very minor and charged me a more than reasonable fee. Their service was excellent as well! Ill be going back.

I called in the morning to set an appointment to bring my car in for a simple oil and spark plug change. They told me to bring it in at 3:30pm. I asked if he wanted my info to set the appointment but he declined. I showed up at 3:30 and the guy working spun me some story about how his dog bit him and the other mechanic couldn’t be in today, blah blah blah. Totally unprofessional. Doc was nice enough but I wouldn’t count on these guys if you need quality professional service.
