I had an awesome experience renting a large climate-controlled storage unit from AppleWood Storage for approximately 2 years. When my mother fell ill suddenly, and could no longer live on her own, I had to quickly find a space to store her belongings as I prepared to place her home on the market. Dave Wood was compassionate and professional as he quickly helped me find the right size unit at his Dairy Drive property. I appreciated that the unit I rented was in a well secured, climate-controlled building and that the building was always neat and clean. I could also access my unit 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and the property is located in a safe area, allowing me to have confidence that my stuff was safe. From the business side, reasonable expectations about space management, upkeep and costs were stated upfront with no hassles or hidden agendas. I think the rates are reasonable given what you get In return and considering what is out there to compare. If I ever need storage space again, I will definitely return to AppleWood Storage and look up Dave Wood first. I highly recommend them and am extremely satisfied with my experience. 👍🏾

We rented a 10x20 conditioned and a 10x10 unconditioned space at Applewood over the last three years. The service was outstanding. Dave and the team maintain a first class experience at Applewood. It is easy to get in and out. They provide a nice cart to use. It is highly secure. They are easy to work with. The website is one of the best I have ever seen with resources to help you move. They also have great relationships with moving companies (2 men and a truck) and the Madison Police Dept. I have rented at many other places yet Applewood sets the high-bar for cleanliness and quality.

Dave and Applewood Self Storage are fantastic. My husband deployed earlier this year, and we were dealing with that, a new baby, and a move to a new home. We used Applewood to house our belongings while we built our new place. We were a little nervous as we did not rent a climate controlled unit, but I can say that we found everything in great condition and we had no problems at all, even with the really wet summer we just had. Dave is also a pleasure to deal with, and extremely responsive. Still the best! Upon returning to the Madison area I was in need of climate controlled storage for my resale inventory until I was able to locate suitable office space. I used Applewood several years ago, but noticed that there were a few other facilities in the area now, so I decided to shop around.A large portion of my inventory is antiques & vintage clothing, most of which I sell on consignment and therefore it is imperative that they are stored with the utmost care. Although the other storage facilities offered the basics of what I needed, the Applewood facility exceeded my expectations in cleanliness, accessibility & security.And more importantly, it has that local personal touch that made me feel comfortable. Dave took the time to talk about what I would be storing and how I would need to access the unit regularly. He made sure I didnt rent a unit larger than I needed (my original 10x20 ), but instead we worked out how I would stack/shelve and decided one size lower would be the way to go. And he was totally correct. Im not even sure Ill need to rent the office space I originally planned too after all. Thank you Applewood, its good to be home!

Setting up the arrangement for our storage was easy and pleasant sitting in front of the fireplace. the unit offered was next to a light which was appreciated, as our loading and unloading was usually after traveling from another state. Changing the features like needing more pallets was conveniently accomplished through email connections. Should we need another storage unit in the future we would definitely seek to use Applewood.

I used Applewood a year, and I would use them again. David was easy to work with, and prompt in sharing details I needed. The facility is well kept and checking out was easy and quick to send my deposit back.

I had a storage unit here for the past 3 years, as I was out of the country for 2 of them. Through all the variable Wisconsin weather, I was nervous about the state of my belongings when I returned, since I did not rent a climate-controlled unit. I was pleasantly surprised that I had absolutely NO problems with moisture, rodents or insects. Everything was dry and without damage. It was well worth the price for a top notch storage facility. We were suppose to have a full military move and found out last minute that our house would sell before they could pick up our household goods. I couldnt imagine a better place to store our stuff while our house was being built. The facility is very well managed with easy to follow, make sense guidelines. Things like no chemicals, fertilizers, foods, etc. This makes it better for everyone. It was also great to go there while moving things in or out, knowing when you open the door, everything will be there, just as you left it. I would recommend Applewood or any place managed by Dave.

I used Applewood for 4 months as I shopped for a house in town. Its a well-run, exceptionally clean facility with very good climate control and technology (coded entry doors, motion-activated lighting, and cameras for security). Ive used several storage facilities in the past, in various cities across the U.S., and this is the nicest one Ive come across.

Working with Dave was such a pleasure! When we first toured the climate controlled units, he was incredibly personable, but not pushy. The unit was perfect for our needs and I would highly recommend spending the few extra dollars on the climate controlled unit. After we vacated the unit, our credit card was inadvertently charged again. Dave was sincerely apologetic and had the issue resolved within 24 hours. If we ever need another storage unit, I will go back to Applewood without hesitation.

David was very professional and met me after normal business hours to show me one of the storage units. It was very well kept and clean while I ended up not needing the use of his facility if I have a need in the future I would definitely use one at his storage locations.

When we needed a storage unit, we didnt look anywhere else - I knew we were going to Dave and Applewood Storage. They have secure buildings with video cameras, 24 hour lighting, and are well maintained. Dave has a focus on safety and security that many other storage unit owners do not have. We never had issues with getting into our unit, even in the middle of winter. The unit never had any water issues (despite all of the rain we had). We had a non-temperature controlled unit, and it worked perfectly for what we needed. We used SUVs with trailers to move in and out (as well as regular vehicles) and Ive seen trucks with trailers and moving trucks go in and out of the wide driveways with ease. If we need a storage unit again, we will definitely go back to Dave and Applewood Storage!

We needed to move my mothers belongs to a safe environment after she was moved from her apartment. We knew that we needed a storage unit and wanted one fairly close by that was climate controlled. I called Dave and we met for a walk through. Applewood Storage is very clean and secure. Dave was empathic about our situation. We thought that we would only need for maybe six months but turned into over a year. We sorted and inventoried moms belonging right at the unit, very nice to let us do that. I will recommend Applewood Storage to anyone without hesitation. If I would need storage at any time in the future I will surly contact Dave.

We moved back to the area from South Carolina and decided to go with Applewood storage because of location and other great reviews we found here. We could not be happier with our choice, even when we had the unfortunate incident of losing our storage key. Dave quickly got us another key with an understandable small fee. It was nice knowing that we were storing our home goods with someone who really cared about his customers. The storage units are so well taken care of and I know if we need to use storage in the future we will come back to Applewood.

We just needed a few months of storage while we got our home ready to sale and leave the Madison area. Applewood Storage worked out great for us. The units are very clean, the security of the facility is evident - we felt very comfortable going to our unit in the middle of the night if we needed to. Dave was great to work with - personable but very clear on protocol for the rental process - beginning AND ending. Then he went the extra mile for us. Due to a unique situation where we were moving to (long story) the deposit refund check that Dave sent us - as was promised - was lost on the receiving end. When I told Dave what had happened and that the first check was highly unlikely ever to be seen by us, he, very willingly, issued a second replacement check for us. We received it within days after I informed him of what had happened. You cant argue with that kind of extra-mile, considerate customer service! Applewood Storage worked out great for us all around.

Applewood Climate-Controlled Storage was my first time renting a storage unit. I had just sold my home, sold most of my furniture and needed a short-term solution to take my favorite pieces until I could find my next home. It was a stressful time for me and Dave was very responsive, kind and helpful. The units were clean and I felt safe with weekly visits to my storage unit to change out clothes or find paperwork. All of my items remained in perfect condition.

This is a great storage facility, and worked perfectly for me while I was between apartments. There was plenty of room to get a U-Haul truck around the back. Dave gives you all of the information you need to get started, and is very efficient when getting you set up in your unit. Ill be back should I ever need a storage space again!

Our experience at Applewood Storage on Dairy Drive in Madison (and with owner Dave Wood) could not have been better! We first rented from Dave in early 2016, when we began to downsize our after retiring. We needed swing space as we renovated our new place and a temporary location for our daughters items while she completed her medical residency out of state. Dave met us at the site to review everything - the space, security, access, etc. We started with one unit, went to two units for a few months, then went back to one unit until we moved out in late 2018. Through all of the changes and when we had questions, Dave was easy to reach by email and phone. It took us two years to transition all of our personal items to their ultimate locations. We appreciated the clean, safe space in which we kept our valuables, and Daves flexibility and support throughout the process!

Clean and safe - I would highly recommend this facility. Made several trips there with my family and we appreciated the ample lighting, security cameras, and spotless surroundings. Other renters are courteous as well. You will not find a better storage area anywhere.

The owner, Dave, was meticulous with his approach to cleanliness and safety in and around his facility. The best thing about working with Dave is the CRYSTAL CLARITY of his expectations and messages. For example, he will tell you with great emphasis about his rule of messaging him by the 15th of the month if you are going to move out at the end of the month. I used Applewood Dairy Dr. to store my car over the 2017/2018 winter. Car storage can be a problem if rodents get into the wiring or interior. There was absolutely no evidence of rodents during the Nov-April time that my car was stored. Also, the facility is very clean, secure, well-lit, and the snow is cleared promptly to provide access. Dave is great to work with and I am extremely pleased with the quality and security of his facility. I plan to use it again this coming winter. Highly recommended!

I had a previous storage locker, so when I came to Applewood I had low expectations. However, I was very impressed with how easy to work with Dave was, he listened to specifically what I was looking for, set up a time to meet that worked with my schedule and his, and I was able to get an exact locker within certain requirements for my profession. Dave even met with me several extra times to make sure his facility was up to code with the parameters of what my company was looking for.The temperature controlled units are safe, outdoor-lock, and indoor-individual lock that I only have the key to, so it made me feel safe knowing the contents of my locker would be in the right temperature, in a clean environment and that I could always contact the owner with any questions.I would recommend Applewood storage, they do a great job and take pride in taking care of you and your storage.

Ive had storage at Applewood for about 7 months now while I was out of the country for work. Its been great in that I never felt I had to worry about security, cleanliness, or access to my belongings if needed. Dave is responsive and genuinely cares that youre having a good experience. Not only did he do that, but he got us in early and gave us a unit right on the end, so it was easy to access and spotless when we started to stack boxes into the 10x10 unit.A recent resurfacing of the driveway and pending security installation make me glad that we opted to rent at Applewood instead of someplace else with questionable safety and security. I stored my the contents of my apartment here for a year while I was moving around for school. When I looked for a storage location, I wanted something clean and secure. I wanted to be able to take my furniture out and not have damage or changes. Applewood climate controlled units provided exactly this. The units are very clean and secure with both a lock to the building and individual unit locks. The units are expensive, but the price is worth it if you have furniture you are concerned could be ruined by the wide range of temperatures in Wisconsin summers and winters. The price difference is much less than replacing ruined furnishings. Dave is very personable and responsive.I would recommend Applewood storage to anyone looking for a unit in the Madison area.

I lead the Collection Center for Operation Christmas Child, where annually we collect 14-15,000 gift filled shoeboxes from the Madison and southern WI area to send to needy children around the globe. Each year from Samaritans Purse we receive over 1000 large cartons to pack the shoeboxes in. We need a storage unit to store these in and for the past five years Dave has generously donated a storage unit to us for this purpose. The unit is clean, dry and the whole area very well kept and security measures very apparent. I have always felt safe using the unit at any time. Dave is easy to work with, easy to get a hold of for questions or concerns and the directions for using the unit and checking out are clear and user friendly. It is clear that Dave is very concerned about running his business with excellence and he does!

The floors of my two units became very wet during one of Madison’s frequent heavy rains, ruining a mattress, books, furniture and other items stored there. I had to remove all my stuff after three weeks or even the items stored high up would have become moldy and damp. The units are newer but built on a flood plain in a low lying area next to a marsh. Don’t store your stuff there when there is a heavy downpour! The owner refunded my money but the items were ruined and the contract absolves the company for liability, so I was out of luck.

Safe, secure and clean! I wouldnt hesitate to store my precious belongs at Applewood again in the future!
