I had a fantastic experience here. Dave was super easy to work with, helped me pick out the right size units for my things. Not only did he show me how everything works, but everything was super organized and the units were very clean! I wasn’t worried about leaving any of my things there. He even left me some cardboard to put under my vehicle which was in a unit. I would recommend it to anyone. Great experience and for a good price.

I am really surprised at how many people have rated this place highly, I wonder if the negative reviews are removed. My experience when I called was very different.I was looking for climate controlled storage around Madison and wanted to compare prices and availability. When I called and inquired about the prices, the owner told me that he found it odd and suspicious that I would call and ask about prices right away. I dont see what is odd or suspicious about that.Then he asked what I planned on storing in the unit. I told him standard household items. He told me he needed to know specifically what I would be storing. I said, just standard household goods like boxes of clothes, some small furniture, etc. He told me to be more specific and say exactly what I would be storing there. I told him I didnt know how to be more specific about that, and that I didnt know why he needed a detailed list of every item I would store there. He again told me that he found it odd and suspicious that I would not disclose to him in detail every item I would keep there. I found it unnerving that he felt entitled to know in detail every item I would keep in my own private storage unit. It also seems weirdly controlling.He also spent a good portion of the call telling me the contents of other renters storage sheds and the high dollar items that are kept there. I imagine it was an attempt to impress me, a prospective new client, with the other items that were being kept there safely. But, mostly, it just turned me off because I wouldnt want him telling other people if I was storing my fancy sports car there.I was in the military for 10 years and have had to move all over the country and internationally. I have used A LOT of temperature controlled storage facilities to store regular household goods, sometimes years at a time. I have never, ever, been asked to give the owner a detailed list of the contents of my storage unit.Since I have had to use so many storage facilities I also have an immense amount of experience calling around to places to price check and compare facilities. I have never in my life been told it was odd and suspicious to ask the price of units (the most logical question in the world when renting a storage unit). Nor have I ever been told it was odd and suspicious to not want to detail every single item you will keep in the storage unit.Perhaps I caught him on an off day, but Im guessing the more likely scenario is these reviews are curated to remove most the negative reviews. I do know that after talking with the owner I would try to find a storage facility without an owner that is so nosey, rude, and controlling. Which is exactly what I did.

I highly recommend Appplewood Storage. Dave was terrific to work with and went out of his way to accommodate us. We had a very short timeline and Dave was very responsive, helpful, easy to work with and did everything he could to minimize the stress. I should also point out that he had another customer deciding on the unit we ultimately rented. Even though I was ready to commit immediately, he wanted to give the first customer a chance to make a final decision. This showed a lot of integrity on Daves part and I really respect that. There are a lot of options for storage units, but if you care about being treated well and valued as a customer then you should go with Applewood Storage.

Ive been at Applewood for four years now, almost since they opened. The facility is first rate, of course, but more importantly, David has been exceptionally helpful in locating and selecting units that suit my needs, including backing in a camper or a boat on a regular basis. Hes been flexible, communicative, and reliable, but he also pays attention to my needs, perhaps even more than I have. I didnt really expect that service after the sale would be a hallmark of a storage facility, and yet here we are.

AppleWood Self Storage has been excellent to deal with. The facility is kept very clean and well lit and is very secure. The units are taller than most so you can fit more into the same size as other facilities, and the roadways and halls are plenty big enough to accommodate a full size moving van and large hand trucks.As for staff, Dave is great! He made an appointment to meet me when I was first shopping for a storage option. He showed up on time and was highly professional. He explained his billing and other policies clearly and followed up with email. I didnt have much need to contact him during the year+ that I held the unit, but the few times I did he was prompt and courteous in his response.I highly recommend this business.

You wont find a safer, more secure, storage facility in Dane county – or possibly anywhere. Clean spaces, great rates and professional customer service made Applewood an easy choice. Will definitely turn to them again when we need additional storage space.

Wonderful and hassle free experience keeping our 22 ft long, 7 ft wide and 11 ft high trailer there for 6 months. When camping season is over again, we plan to be back!

We stored our classic car at Applewood Storage for the summer driving season. David has a great process for contracting the unit, which was clean, dry and very secure. Having our car there made it more accessible and easier for us to take it out for a drive. We’re planning to do it again next year. Great experience!

I rented an outdoor space for my Class A RV on Marsh Road. Dave was very helpful and flexible in giving me a space after I bought the RV on short notice and couldnt keep it at my home. The space was clean, the drive-in was easy for a large RV, and I felt very confident in the security of the property. I would highly recommend AppleWood for RV and other storage.

Everything fit but we later decided we needed a little more room so we could house our son’s car and keep the cycle at the house so we reached to Dave to see what was available and he as always he was quick to respond and he accommodated our needs. We decided to work with Dave at AppleWood Storage after making several phone calls to explore options. It was clear from the beginning that Dave runs a top-notch business. He was very responsive and thoughtful about helping us choose the right storage solution for us. We live in Madison, but have been away in Oregon with family during the pandemic lockdown. We are temporarily going to stay out west, and have decided to put our home contents in storage. Dave was very willing to work with us remotely and suggesting movers he is comfortable recommended. We came back to Madison for two weeks to attend to our moving process. We visited our storage unit today to finalize our contract and were so impressed with cleanliness and orderliness of the facilities, and Daves every last detail approach to giving us a thorough understanding of the processes involved with exit/entry, notifications upon vacating etc. The office was very clean with ample access to hand sanitizer and disinfectant. Dave was meticulous in avoiding contact having us use our own pen and at no point coming into contact with the same surface. I think in another life Dave might have been a Swiss watchmaker - thats how detail-oriented he is, in a great way. Dave also shared how seriously he takes security and his businesses involvement in community work like the training of K9 dogs on his site, for instance. Its clear that Dave is true professional and a conscientious citizen. We feel extremely good about doing business with him.

I used AppleWood to store all my household belongings for six months as I was building a new home. Dave was so easy to work with, and I had no worries about the condition of my stored belongings. The unit was super clean and dry, and looked the same on the day I locked up as the day I picked up. My security deposit was mailed promptly to me the day after I returned my key. I cannot recommend AppleWood enough for your storage needs!

I was renting a room from a family member and offered to store their belongings for them. I found AppleWood and talked to Dave, who was extremely professional. Their facility is well maintained, clean, and secure. The leasing process is very organized, and the lessee obligations are clearly explained. No surprises. While they arent cheapest around, if you care about the safety of your possessions, I think its well worth the price. I will definitely be going to AppleWood in the future if the need arises.

I highly recommend Applewood Climate Control Self Storage. I recently had a tour of this new facility with the owner Dave and was so impressed with it versus others we had visited in the Madison area. The ground floor units are so easy to access. My family and I drove right up next to the unit and easily unloaded. When we met with Dave he also told us about the facilities solar panel program and I recall he mentioned 96% energy savings. Being green is important to me and my family so this was great to hear. Im glad I chose Applewood!

We chose Applewood because the owners are personal friends. Sometimes that can be a good choice. And sometimes it turns out differently. In our experience, Dave and Applewood were perfect for our needs. We needed a 10x30 climate controlled unit, as we were storing over the winter in preparation to sell and move to a new home. I rented storage from Applewood a few years ago and had such a great experience that they were 1st on my list when I was looking for storage again. I was excited to find that they had just opened a new facility with a variety of sizes, wide aisles for easy access, and large entry doors. The wide aisle was a huge benefit to my movers who said they had no problems getting their truck in. It made things go so much faster, which ended up saving me money in the long run.When I first called, I wasnt quite sure what size I needed and had originally been looking for something much larger. After talking with the owner, he suggested that I may not need such a large unit. The size he estimated would fit my needs was more than perfect. He could have had me sign for a more expensive unit even though I didnt need it, but he didnt. It really said a lot about his character.I also thought it was super cool that he showed me his new solar log and panels so his facility can be 96% efficient and he drives a hybrid. So not only does he care about his customers, but he cares about the environment too. Now that is something I can be proud in supporting!Another thing to note is the security. Seeing as I may need to access my unit after work hours and in many cases that is after dark, it was reassuring to see security cameras through out the property (interior & exterior), as well as information posted that they also hold K9 dog training there. I had no concerns about safety at the other facility where I rented from Applewood and that remains constant with the new location as well.If you are looking for storage in the area, I would highly recommend them. They are a family owned company and it is evident that they truly care about providing the best possible service to their customers. I promise you will not be disappointed!

In Wisconsin, it is essential to use climate-controlled storage. If you dont, your items in storage will simply be destroyed by temperature extremes. But finding your dream storage unit isnt as easy as it seems. You will scour all of the Madison area and the horrors you will encounter are best not to be mentioned. Then you will find Applewood. You will walk into the perfectly climate controlled and secured units and instantly know that THIS is what storage should be. THIS is what you have been dreaming of. The facility is well designed, with ample hallways and easy access. It is meticulously clean and security is a priority. The owner is involved and you are not dealing with disinterested managers who dont care who their clients are. I cant believe I was lucky enough to find Applewood.
