They lied to us and swindled us out of $80... I told them I have felonies on my record from 15 years ago but have been in no trouble since I told them what the charges were and they were non-violent they told me everything would be okay so I went to put in an application and they were like oh wait a minute your girlfriend needs to put in 1 also set everything was okay supposedly I said fine and gave them $80 application fee they never called me back so the next week I called them and was like what happened with my apartment they said all man you had felonies on your record I said I know we talked about this and they were like oh well since there was more than one we cant approve you I was Furious and ask them why would they tell me everything was fine when I was honest only to turn around and say I couldnt be approved... basically The way I see it They knew they were going to turn me down They just wanted to get that $80 application fee I would never do business with this company they only want to ripped people off if they will rip me off with something like that Im very sure theyre going to rip everyone off in the long run, horrible company!!!!!!

Great trip perfect for a get away from the Big Apple. The rental was clean and the staff was dope. The staff really make you feel “taken care of” which to me is as important as the rental itself. Planning on a second trip soon!!!

Viewed two apartments and decided on the studio. We paid the application fee, submitted all documents. They called us 2 days later saying they gave the studio away to a current tenant but approved us for the 1 bedroom (and told us the new price was $25 more than when we viewed it.) We didn’t apply for the 1 bedroom! Bunch of scam artists.

Waited a few months before leaving my review because its appropriate when moving across country such as GF and I did, putting our faith in an establishment such as this one. Today I am changing it from 3 to 5 stars and they deserve every bit of it.I am very cynical and jaded after living 5 years in Vegas before moving back to the area and had my doubts, but Sawyer (leasing representative) and the maintenance staff of S&T have exceeded every time. We had a few standard issues after moving in and I wanted to see how they would respond. Anyone can be nice when they want your deposit but give it a few months and youll see who youre really dealing with.Well, they did everything one could hope for and have made our transfer here close to perfect. We had an issue with a refrigerator and it was replaced within the week. Issue with a leaking patio door during the rain and that was addressed and fixed. Issue with a noisy neighbor (I work nights) and that has been taken care of. Everything we have mentioned was a point of concern for us they have shown to be very professional and responsive.I have taken to mentioning them on Facebook and other social media sites, as well as at work, as my one and only recommendation for those moving to the area and encourage you to give them a chance. After 3 months of living in our apartment I sincerely cant think of a single thing they could have done better or more professionally to show we are valued tenants.No place or move ever goes perfectly but I can honestly attest that our leasing agency and residence has not been a point of contention. It has gone almost flawlessly. If Im ever off on a morning early enough I keep promising myself to take them donuts to show my appreciation hahahaha10/10Trust me, give them a chance. Compared to other leasing agencies in the area, and horror stories Ive heard from coworkers, these guys are all-stars.

I thought Shook & Tarlton was a decent place to live, but once I moved out I realized that it was a rip off. They charged me for every little thing. $100 to replace all 4 stove eyes that worked properly, $15 to replace 1 bulb along with other unnecessary things so that they can update their old apartment. They also attempted to charge me for replacing cabinets that were already old and not damaged.

I have been in my townhouse almost nine years and I have to say the people now managing this property are the best. They actually answer the phone if there is a maintenance issue and they go above and beyond to fix the problem as quickly as possible. They are professional and courteous and a pleasure to work with. Our yard actually gets mowed on a regular basis now and they will come out and sweep away wasps nests and any other pest issues that arise. I am very pleased with the way things are handled now. Wonderful people!

I have been living in the Village for five years and I can say that the maintenance crew that is here now are great. I had an issue with my water heater and the response time was quick. The crew replaced the hot water heater very quickly. They were professional, efficient, and personable. I have read some of the bad reviews and I can say that I disregard that and will continue to live here in the Village.

I moved in and filled out my “inspection form”. After I turned it in, Chuck, Bethany and Another guy, I’m sorry I don’t remember his name, came to my house and all I can say is WOW!!! They spent the entire day here and they worked their butts off! They fixed EVERYTHING on my list and then some! They were awesome! Now let me add that I was very hesitant about renting from S&T from other reviews, but let me tell you, they have DEFINITELY changed! Do not hesitate to rent from them! Thank you again CHUCK AND BETHANY for doing such an amazing job, you’ll never know how much I appreciate everything you did!!!

They have been coming for me for a money order that was signed and deposited in their bank of america bank account since aug - sep of 2019 if we need to go to court we can i have my receipts. i do like sawyer he is very nice but their accounting system incompetency has nothing to do with me because i paid

Im a new resident at Shook & Tarlton and I have to say that I love the new place. The layout of the apartment is great as well as kept clean. Had a little trouble with the toilet overflowing but that was taken care of within minutes of me reporting the issue. Special thanks to the maintenance guy, Daniel, he was quick to arrive and quick work on fixing the problem. Excellent service all round.

Ive been a resident of Shook & Tarlton for around 8 years and Ive had a positive experience. I remember one summer about two years ago, my refrigerator stopped working. I called the office. They sent a guy to repair it. Since the issue with the fridge would take a few days; they replaced the fridge the same day. I didnt lose any of the food in it.Also, whenever I have had a question or concern and call/email the office; they call me back or reply my email with little or no delay.I highly recommend Shook & Tarlton.

I paid $420 a month for a place that doesnt have a dishwasher or laundry facilities. I had a cheaper place with the same company that had both. On top of that. Everyone leaves their trash outside their front doors. Do not rent from this company. You have problems and they send a notice out but thats it. Nothing ever gets fully enforced.

If the rental company says Shook and Tarlton I will run in the other direction. They are slow to make repairs and are very disrespectful when you call. I pay my rent on time and have not been late in 2.5yrs. Miller and associates now manage where I live and they are amazing. The same repairs I had been trying to get Shook and Tarlton to do for 6 months were done the same day I reported them to Miller. I have been calling Shook and Tarlyon about spiders in my apt and even took them a trap full of them and nothing was done. I called Miller right after they took over and they sent an exterminator ASAP! I don’t know who owns Shook and Tarlton but they are the worst rental management company I have ever seen. I am super happy my new owner switched us to Miller!!!!

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! You will waste money and effort. We were here for almost 3 years. We lived in Catawba Ridge. Our first 3 months we moved in, we had a water leak. The water tank busted, leaked out onto our living room floor. 3 months later, the pipe busted, and another water leak occurred. Water leaks will a constant occurrence, and guess what? They wont care. Your floor will smell moldy, they wont change it unless you ask repeatedly. Nothing works, and when someone goes wrong it takes maintenance days to come out and fix it. You have a water leak? Turn off the water. Your AC doesnt work in the summer time? Theyll send someone out tomorrow. Of course, sometimes they never come at all until you call repeatedly for someone to come. I have kids and they have to live in 85 degree living conditions. They have gone through numerous maintenance guys, and I wonder why????? Hm. I have had a total of 7 water leaks, and one from the next door neighbor that leaked into my apartment. I still have a hole in my ceiling from when they drilled out the ceiling to access a leaky pipe. They never came back to fix it, so theres pipes exposed in our ceiling. Neighbors are loud and rude. There is currently mold growing under my sink because someone was supposed to come fix the pipe underneath the sink 3 weeks ago. I just left it. If they dont care to come fix it, I wont care to keep calling to have someone come. Im getting away from here because to be paying over $500 for rent each month and nothing gets fixed and everything breaks down? Not worth it. Stay far away unless you want to pay for old apartments that wont get updated.

When it comes to bad luck, my name is shortly to follow. Given the bad reviews on here I still decided to take my chances and rent a townhome from shook and tarlton. Everything went smoothly, any time I had a problem, maintenance was knocking at my door shortly after. After about a year I decided to upgrade to a three bedroom home they had available, after moving in we discovered a bedroom closet light wasn’t working (not a major issue) but within a few days (given its winter time and some emergencies came up and even without me having to call back about the issue) Daniel came out and ended up replacing the whole light. This company is recently under new management and they are trying to repair their once good name! Give them a chance, you won’t regret it!

My ac has has issues from the day I moved in two years ago, the maintenanceguys have had to come over 15 times. Just two weeks ago my entire apartments flooded and it took two times just to get the water to stop flowing threw the house, it caused massive amounts of black mold threw out the apartment and I’ve called everyday for two weeks to tell them someone needs to come out to deal with the mold because it’s all over and they just kept telling me they’ll send someone but nobody shows up.

I rented for just over a year. There was a bedbug infestation in some of the units. I was told the units adjoining mine would be inspected. It didnt happen. I had to pay for extermination even though I had NO BED BUGS when I moved into the unit. The move in inspection is not worth the paper its written on because they cant officially locate it when you move out and you are charged for blinds that were broken when you moved in. You are charged for brand new lightbulbs that supposedly were replaced when you move out although there was no need. AND, DONT ask for the pictures they say they have because they are NEVER found. Its amazing how well everything sounds when you move in, and how quickly it all changes when you move out. When you move in, its through Shook and Tarlton, but when you move out, the owner(s) of the unit, although you never get to meet them, are the ones you have to answer to. Shook and Tarlton say they have no authority. It WILL cost you more to move out than it does to move in. HEADS UP!!!

I simply wanted someone from the office to do a walk through with me after I put in my 30 day notice they told me they wouldnt its policy to do it after your out and moved on. In my opinion if I take the time to clean they can take 10 minutes out of their time to look it over, lady in the office was rude about it.to anyone

The office was always neat and clean, when my hot water heater wasnt working someone came by quickly and got it fixed. None of the electrical outlets in one room upstairs wasnt working, and it took months for them to send someone to fix that. A bathtub drain was clogged pretty bad. I unstopped the drain and was paid for what I did with no problem what so ever. Staff were friendly the majority of my stay in their rental property. I did have a problem when a staff member came by to put notices on the doors to my apartment complex, everyones notice was hanging on their doors except my notice... I had to pick mine up off the drive way.

I replied, “mixed breed/mutt.” She said “so yeah, when people say mutt it generally means your dog has pit bull in it.” I stopped her & said “No that is not a general assumption. My dog has no pit in her.”Maybe you should hire someone with common sense, that actually knows how to to talk to people.

Shook & Tarlton Biggest Failures that I ever had to deal with in my life! Disgraceful. They failed and or ignored doing any kind of pre-move inspection of my unit. Instead, they left it in a state of shambles and dumped the maintenance inspection and repairs on me to deal with on my time! Windows jammed shut, broken old blinds, broken old worn electrical sockets, broken dishwasher flooded kitchen, pipes in the living room leaked water all over the walls and flooded the living room carpet and kitchen floor, leaking bathroom faucet, leaking bath tub faucet, garbage left out front and rear by previous tenants, wrong fridge drawer, no butter tray cover. Dont even come near this disgraceful company. Its not just my complaint, read the reviews 1.4 out of 5. I give them a zero.

You can hear the footsteps of the person above you, and people outside, and if they are wearing boots, they will sound like bricks. After a friend of my moved I wanted his apartment couse he was in a better one then mine and it was a 1 bedroom apartment where I was stuck in a studio, and they said that I couldnt move becouse of the contract. Thats bull, I have an opportunity to move to a slightly better apartment and you wont let me move becouse?Theres alot wrong with this apartments, and theres no sign of them fixing anything. Dont move to celery stalk, is awful.

My girlfriend has been living here for over a year now and to make a VERY long story short this place is a complete joke. She has had to call code enforcement twice since being here there was a 3x3 hole in the ceiling pipes showing and everything from a RECALLED piping system which by the way there is a class action lawsuit for told to us by a former maintenance man that resigned. Also she goes to get pool passes today and only receives one and is told she cant bring any amount of guest that it can only be her, meanwhile we witness a group of 5 go in and more come out with only a few having passes. If I had to give anyone advice it would to not consider this place as rental option.

Shook and tarlton are scam artis they never came to fix anything i asked them to my air conditiin broke and guess what they ! Never came my floor was soft and had mold so one day i was walking and the floor fell in well they said they would come fix it a week later some guy came and put a board on top of it he never came to fix it he just coverd the hole with a piece of wood my refrigator was makeing loud noises and guess what they never came to fix it i gave them a 30 day notice that i was moving and i signed and all and they are trying to say i was still living their and tried to charge me i turned in all of my keys so how is it possible well long story short they will be sued they are trying to bail out on giving me my deposit and i am taken legal action!!

We rented one of their apts for two years. Two years of water busts and AC not working. They came out SIX TIMES to fix our AC and never did get it fixed. Im epileptic, extreme heat triggers my seizures, they knew this and yet still didnt make an attempt to try to send out a different maintenance man, ect. We just recently found a new place and turned in our thirty day notice. We had planned on going this weekend(with ten days left on our lease) to clean the apartment and to get our last few things. They have already been in our apt cleaning and entered without our consent. We will never use shook and tarlton again, EVER! If we do not recieve our deposit back I plan on taking legal actions.

I looked at a few reviews of this place and they wernt all that great but i decided to check them out myself. upon first glanc the appartments looked amazing and for the price with everything you got in it i thought it was a great deal and couldnt understand why the reviews of the place were not so good so i decided to go against the reviews and sign a lease with them. the second day i moved in i noticed an issue with the tub drain and it would not hold water so i called the office and that day the maintainence guy showed up and looked at it. he didnt have the part so he ran right out and bought a new one to put it he was very cool and happy to do his job and talked to me the whole time he was here. i thought wow this place is amazing with fixing issues and keeping their tenants happy. well it has been almost a year now and the numerous other problems i have turned into the office have still yet to be looked at or fixed, the office personel are nice to you upfront to get you to sign a lease here but once your on it you might as well be a piece of dirt to them, the noise threw the walls isnt to bad but the people yelling from the outside travels right threw your sliding glass doors and you can hear them plain as day, i have seen bug exterminators about 50 times since ive been here spreying appartments up which leads me to beleave the appartments have bug issues of which there are constant anthills coming threw the sidewalks infront of our appartments and have found sevral types of bugs inside our appartment of which we keep as clean as possible so they must be coming from other appartments, when we had our internet hooked up they could not find a good cable jack to use because most were not hooked up and the one that was had so many splitters inside the wall hooking it together it was unuseable so the internet company had to pull all the wire and splitters out to re wire the jack from the main line, our stove sets off the smoke detector almost everytime it is turned on even tho i have cleaned and scrubbed the stove the burners and the drip pan, our water has rusted most of our silverwear and most of our pots and pans and puts a thick brownish film in our toilet within a week from scrubbing it clean, i found out that the tall appartments just up the road from me contain drug rings and prostitution, after 4 months of living here our electric bill has doubled and has not dropped even after useing 1/2 the electricity as usual and switching every bulb in the appartment to energy efficint bulbs, and i have recently found out that even tho they say you have up to 2 parkingspots that you can use and 1 guest parking spot what they realy mean is you have 2 parking spots to use but if your car sits still inside of one of them for over a month without moving it you get a notice taped to your car saying you have 7 days to call the office or they WILL tow your car away and are not responsible for it. mind you i am a very very good tenant am a month early on my rent every month im very quiet and do my very best to not do anything to disturb my neighbors and i work overnights so even if my car were to move if i pulled back in the same spot it was in then they would not know the differance. ive done some more looking recently now that my lease is almost up for a house because im very very ready to get out of these appartments ASAP and come to find out that what i pay for rent here i could pay less for a mortgage on a 3 bedroom house. After my year of living here i do NOT recomend these appartments to ANYONE if i would have known how this place would have been i would have payed the extra $25 a month for one of the other appartment complexes i seen far away from this place.
