Great family shop customer focused

I recently took my vehicle to Carl for an alignment, tie rods, and 2 new tires. He not only fixed the items that I came in for, but he called and let me know that the previous location that I had purchased tires from, had recommended a tire that was very ill-fit for rain and Michigan winters. He went above and beyond to ensure that I had all of the options available, and gave his best recommendation to make sure that my vehicle was as safe as possible. I will definitely be back with any future needs!

Absolutely a terrible service shop, Charged $2,544.88 for a timing job on a Ford truck only to not do the job properly, had to take the truck to another shop for them to find out the timing had jumped. The 2nd shop said half the parts they were claiming to be new appeared to be not new, and the timing guides and chains appeared to be well used. They also installed a new timing cover on the truck that had broken bolts in it as well as they had stripped the valve cover bolts somehow. The power steering pump was missing a bolt that held it in place as well and the other bolts were loose. I would highly recommend against using this shop as they appear to be a bunch of hacks and don’t stand behind the poor work that was done. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE USING THIS SHOP!!!!!!

I was extremely impressed with the genuine kindness and hard work they put in the day before Forth of July for me when I didn’t even have an appointment. I was in desperate need of an inspection before my road trip and they said I could come, even though they had planned to be done for the holiday weekend by noon.The guy found that my brakes were so bad, they were about to scrape and he fixed them right then and there. The lady even offered to take me home and pick me up while they worked on the brakes so I could be with my boys! I couldn’t be happier with the service I received, and my brakes feel amazing! Thank you so much!!

I called for a quote on a battery. Great price! Called back to make sure he knew he had to take off the front drivers tire to get to to the battery. He proceeded to be one of the most Obnoxious, Rude individuals Ive ever dealt with. I asked because 5 other shops said that knew about the extra work to change out a battery.That says it all. Went to someone else. Treated with respect And No Screaming or Bellowing. I know Now why this shop gets a low star rating and bad word of mouth in the area.huh, 2 weeks later his reviews are 100% better. Yeah So not trusting any positive reviews.

I brought in my 1980 Firebird which is super clean, rust free and in excellent condition to get a simple muffler install. I simply wanted a straight section of the exhaust pipe cut out in front of my existing muffler and a glass pack straight thru muffler installed in line. Quick easy money for any mechanic. Making an appointment with the receptionist who was friendly, then a guy walks in who I assume is the owner saying no, no, no. She looked as confused as I was by his tone and actions and asked why, what?? He looked at her without addressing me at all and repeated no no I dont want to work on something that old, I just dont, no. He didnt ask any questions or say anything else So I am left standing there wondering if I am in the twilight zone instead of an auto mechanics shop and slowing turned around and said okaaaaay and slowly walked away. Maybe he is a decent mechanic when he decides he wants to work on something but just as many other reviewers have said he is definitely rude and extremely lacking in people skills and professionalism. I will definetly be going elsewhere if /when I need any work done on any of my vehicles.

Carl and his wife went far and beyond to accommodate my very frustrating situation.Fluid was leaking on my 02 Toyota 4runner, on my way back to Chicago, Heritage Auto Service recommended Toms even though it was a long shot, since theyre usually busy.Carl took my car in right away (even though he had couple cars ahead) just to check if it would be a quick fix (hopefully just brakes issue). Unfortunately it wasnt and would most probably have to be dropped off. (it was axle seal).Instead of just getting me out of his way, Carl made some phone calls and had set up an appt over on Kool Toyota, explained a brief summary of what he had found and got me on my way to have my car fixed!! He sure took a bunch of headache off my back.If I lived in Grand Rapids, MI I would definitely have full faith and trust for Carl at Toms Service Center.Thank you Carl, and the wife. I really appreciate the effort to help me out! Hope you guys have a blessed new years! 2020!!

Carl and everyone at Toms went above and beyond to take care of my vehicle situation. They are honest, extremely knowledgeable, and thorough with each repair they make. They are the only crew of mechanics I trust to provide any car service I need done.

In response to Ms Kennedys review, our prices our competitive and we use a higher grade synthetic oil. We topped off all her fluids, and changed her oil filter as we do with all oil changes. We do not include air filters in our oil changes. Toms Service Center

Had to get my valve cover seal replaced and he gave me spark plugs for free since they were bad! Great shop, definitely would recommend.

They did great work and were super friendly. Will definitely go back.

Was disappointed after leaving. I asked Carl about his pricing on the parts he used for my repair on my 04 Honda Pilot. He explained to me that he charges retail on parts after he buys them wholesale. I asked why I could buy the parts for cheaper at any auto store to which he replied that they sold at a middle price which he wasn’t going to sell at because he wasn’t going to only make $3-$4 on parts after also charging me for labor. When I was confused by this he excused my comments with “you must not know how business work.”

Incredible service and well priced! They had my car back up an running in no time.

Went in for an oil change as this place is around the corner from my house. Staff isn’t the most friendly but the waiting room was clean which I appreciated. However it has MAGA hats a items throughout and Fox News on high volume which I didn’t love. At the end it was the most expensive oil change EVER at $85 and when I asked about how my filters looked he said they don’t ever look in the engine at filters for an oil change and none of my fluids were topped off. I don’t plan on returning.

This is the only place I bring my car to get work done. The friendly staff and great work they do is better than anywhere in Grand Rapids

I would not recommend this place. The guy is rude, talks to you like youre stupid and makes up stuff just to get more money out of you. Dont go here.

Tom was nice and easy to work with. Got the work done quick than I anticipated! Will continue to go back here, easily one of the better repair shops in the area. Lots of shady people in the business, but he went above and beyond for me and he deserves your business as well!

Always had friendly and helpful experiences with Toms Service center. Brought my vehicle in for a second opinion, and they were able to give me an honest fix for much less and solved the problem. I have been using them ever since and couldnt be happier!

I decided to replace my review bc of developments after. 2 weeks ago I towed my broken down truck to this shop. The parking lot is a hill so even with a vehicle to tow its difficult to place a broken down vehicle there. I left a voice mail and showed when they opened next to give tom the key. He asked me to what extent I wanted to go to have this vehicle fixed. To which I replied well a spider injector sells for 160 to 300. I dont know what you charge in labor at this he lost it and was extremely rude and denied me service. It was abborhant behavior. I missed work and had to have it towed. About a day or 2 later a family member of his contacted me accusing me of demanding a fixed price...which I didnt do. Despite this the family member stated he has a temper and a short fuse to stupidity this was obvious as day to see. Other than that I hear and seen the workers do good work and they themselves are nice. Youll most likely get good service but run the risk of running into carl. The owner of toms service center. Who has a known reputation for anger. Im glad I he didnt make a profit off of me and that I saved money doin it myself.
