Westside is run by people who know what they’re doing and are willing to help people for fair prices. They will spend the time explaining what they should do to your car and why. I have never had them lie to me or make anything up. I felt very valued and will go back to them many times again.

The starter went out on the Jeep and the crew here made a pretty bad day go ok. The Woman at the desk is a sweetheart and polite. She answered all my questions. The repair took a little bit longer than they said but not much. My only complaint was that I had to tow it in.Great work guys keep it up.

I had been a customer of the owner of Westside Garage before he moved on Walker. I thought I had built a relationship with them. I had great service until I bought a vehicle from them. I bought a vehicle about 2 years ago and from the start I had issues with the vehicle. About a week after I purchased the vehicle the transmission went out. Thankfully it was under warranty with Bobs Transmission who honored the warranty. Next I steering problem, oil leak problem which never was repaired correctly. Radiator problems which they didnt honor. I ended up going to another mechanic. Because I was calling so much the owner felt I getting on his nerves. I have spent over $4500 on repairs for this vehicle. I was always on time for my regular maintenance. The vehicle had a lot of regular maintenance due when I purchased it. It was costly because of the vehicle. I had just received my disability before I got my vehicle and spent all of my savings trying to fix the vehicle.I had the radiator fixed by another mechanic and after a year it blew along with the engine. Now I have no vehicle but I still have a payment. I trusted when I was with Westside they would treat me fairly. It took me over a year to get the oil leak fixed by someone else. I know that Westside has been a very reputable business for years and I never thought I would go through this. This was a learning experience for me about getting too comfortable when doing business. God should have been my focused.

They paid my deductible with the money they saved off labor. Both people at the front desk are very understanding and friendly.

These guys are awesome. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND to evaluate my truck and its needed repairs, recommend next steps with full transparency, communicate well, and work their butts off to do an outstanding job repairing my truck. They did a huge, tough job replacing an entire exhaust system including manifolds that were completely corroded, and my truck is doing just great now. These guys truly care about their work and the people they do it for.

Update: Sorry Westside, but for as friendly as you guys were. I had someone else come, and see if you guys let her get a rental over the weekend and you did. Then gave an over-priced value for repairs on my car, and it never was inspected. Knowing I worked at a Car place, I have ins on parts, pricing, and etc. And you guys over-charged. The parts were $200 and less, Labor was $2500. During a COVID pandemic. And I was referred. They was even shocked about the loaner vehicle situation and pricing. You in fact were not the cheapest in town and lied about loaner vehicles and never inspected my car, provided no report, and tried to take advantage.This is not Percy Lago.Its De Shawn Vance-Jamison, the guy with over 20K views on google and advise giver of GR,in regards to referrals and more.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dave and the entire Westside Garage crew. They are honest, trustworthy, and truly look out for their customers. I recently had my power steering assist go out. I work downtown about 3 minutes from Westside Garage. I called Dave and within minutes he told me he’d go pick up the car and not to worry about a thing. Sure enough he picked up the car and had it ready for me to go within a day. Dave has exceptional customer service and his crew works fast and are so knowledgeable.

I took my vehicle there to get my A/C fixed. In the process something else went wrong and they fixed my car at no charge. I even offered my warranty info but he refused to take the info because he said he doesn’t feel right taking money on something that was his fault.. they are very honest and do good work. They communicated with me throughout the time of having my vehicle

I am very pleased with how Brian and Dave treated me and worked with me by giving me insight. Between the two of them they spent an hour of their time going through options and giving suggestions on how I could save money and still get my car fixed. The next week my friend went in for a few small things and they found something else wrong and fixed it for free. They also got both of us in very quickly. I came here based on the recommendation of some peers of mine. Didnt regret it. I have had a few major jobs done on my vehicle here and I have had no problems with their work. I went into the Westside Garage to have my new used car brakes and alignment checked out. I dropped it off. Once they looked at my car, they called me and quoted me $1,379.56 for a full set of brakes (because my calipers and brake pads were frozen from the salt and snow) and my tie rod ends were loose. This price wasn’t even including the alignment that would need to be fixed after all of this work was completed. Now, because I am a young girl and I bought my car from a dealership I did not fully trust that quote. I didn’t get any work done, and I moved onto another mechanic that was cheaper. Once going to this new mechanic, he told me that all I needed was some grease and to use a wire brush to free the pads up from sticking to the calipers. Other than that my break pads still had about 30,000 miles left on them (a quarter inch of brake pad). After that was repaired, my car no longer had braking issues. Also, only one tie rod end was loose. To fix that, my guy charged $25 for the new part and just a small service fee. I don’t know if they just made a mistake, but to me, they were trying to get me to pay a lot of money because they didn’t think I would know any better being a 23 year old girl. I would not trust this company.

Dave and Brian are the best of the best. I am an automotive engineer and mechanic of 47 years. My daughters car needed an emergency repair and it was towed here yesterday morning. My daughter was driving it yesterday afternoon. I would have repaired it myself but I am on the other side of the state. These guys have integrity, experience, knowledge, and an unmatched professional attitude. I would take any of my cars to them without a second thought. Thanks guys!

I dropped my car off Tuesday morning for some exhaust repair. It was hanging down to the ground beneath my car. I also needed an oil change. Westside was generous enough to offer a shuttle for me to get to work on time. I was expecting to get a call with a quote of 100-300 to repair (180 was my quote from another shop). Instead, only a couple hours later, I got a call explaining that they didnt need to buy any parts, but rather just had to adjust the exhaust and weld the quarter-sized-hole shut. On top of that, since it was a quick and easy fix for them and it didnt require any new parts, they didnt even charge me for it. I was only charged for the oil change. Amazing! On top of that, they offered to pick me back up at work and shuttle me back to get the car while I was on lunch. I still cant even believe it. Ill be going back to the Westside Garage for all repairs in the future. The West side really is the best side!

Overall a great business and trustful employees. Its almost everything you would expect from a business. I especially enjoy working with Dave and Brian they are on top of things. My car had gotten hit while it was parked in the street and I was fighting with insurance to get it fixed and Dave reached out to my claim agent himself to get things taken care of. A great neighborhood auto service center! Weve had our cars serviced at WestSide Garage since they opened several years ago. From the beginning Ive been really impressed with their quality of service. It really seems like they go out of their way to make sure you feel well taken care of. Only once has there ever been an issue with something needing additional attention after they repaired it. All the follow up work they did to make it right was free of charge. Highly recommended!

I took my car to Westside Garage for some repairs after my boyfriend had a couple of good experiences there too. I was long overdue for some maintenance & I was not disappointed with my experience. Tommy and Dave were beyond polite and went out of their way to discuss the repairs with me, even offering to prioritize the repairs so I didnt have to deal with a large bill all at once. They allowed me to use a loaner car while they had my car. Now that I have my car back, I have been nothing but satisfied with my repairs.While my car was there, I recommended a friend to go into Westside for a new car inspection that they needed. For recommending someone, Westside gave me a discount on my repairs and did the new car inspection for far less than any quote my friend had received anywhere else.These guys are great and they do superior work. Dave is one of the best guys around town! I went to this shop when I had absolutely no idea where to get my car fixed and I was not disappointed. Due to a problem that couldnt be fixed, I was distraught because I no longer had a car and thought I was out of options. Someone rear ended me and drove away so unable to file a claim, I was stressed about finding someone to fix it for a good price. Brought it to Dave after being quoted 1200... he fixed it for half of that. It took his guy 2 days to fix and they gave me a loaner!!!! I would not recommend anyone other than Dave and his guys! This is the best experience I have ever had with a mechanic. Dave and Tom worked on my vehicle fast & for a much better price than their competition. The entire time they had my vehicle they kept in contact with me and gave me really good updates on what was happening. Would strongly reccomend to friends, family, and anyone new to the area.

I brought my car in because I suspected an exhaust leak. They were slammed and didnt think they could get to it until Monday. I was perfectly OK with that just hoping they might get it in sooner if possible. Low and behold I got a call a few hours later. Dave didnt want me to be without my car for the weekend. He welded the crack in the exhaust, and didnt charge me a dime. He said it would be a small fix until I need a new pipe and they would work with me when I need it. Im very grateful for their help and generosity! Definitely will come back if necessary.

Dave has truly been amazing to work with. Westside Garage made the time to look at my vehicle (free first time inspection) and was able to save me about $300 off the estimate I had for repairs another facility gave me. They have provided a loaner car (that I am tempted to buy!) and done everything possible to make this the most convenient experience for ME! They have excellent work ethic! Westside Garage came as a recommendation recently for a few maintenance repairs. I knew my car was going to be in good hands just from the first phone call with Dave. I have taken my vehicle to Westside Garage a total of 3 times in the past 3 months. I have received nothing short of fantastic customer service, quality work, and reasonable prices! I couldnt recommend this place more to anyone needing automotive work done on their car/truck.The first time took my car in, I had recently bought it used and was curious if my timing belt needed to be replaced (it was close to the mileage and the previous owner wasnt sure if it had been done). Rather than simply pretending to look at it and recommend I get it replaced, the owner Dave and one of the folks at the shop told me that it looked fine and to just come get it checked out again next year.I knew at this point that this place was not like any other mechanic.The second time I took my car in was after I had been to another location that quoted me about 1.7k for work they werent even sure needed to be done. I took my car down to Westside and the folks there looked it it a knew exactly what needed to be done. they replaced my rear calipers, brake pads, and rotors for an incredibly reasonable price and quality installation.The third time I took my car in I got all of my struts replaced and an alignment done for an even more incredible price than the last time I was there. I cannot recommend Westside Garage enough for their impeccable attention to quality and customer service. They even told me that if I felt the alignment wasnt 100% correct I could take it in for a quick adjustment, free of charge!Rest assured that the folks at Westside arent your stereotypical mechanics just trying to score a quick buck. The genuinely care about their customers.

Took my 2010 Charger in for service because the transmission stopped shifting properly and am blown away by how awesome these guys are. Tommy not only took the proper steps in diagnosing my car to find the actual problem, but actually called me day by day to give me updates on the progress. After 7 or more hours of diagnosis, none of which I was charged for, they had found that a couple of sensors and a harness were the problem. I already had other mechanics throwing prices for new transmissions at me, these guys saved me so much money by taking the proper steps and ruling out easier fixes first. Will be taking my car here from now on for major repairs, great job guys! Car runs great!

Best you will find!! My wife and I were traveling and had a ball joint and cv axle break, which is a major break. All other shops were booked for at least 3 weeks, but these guys had us back on the road in a couple hours. They were EXTREMELY busy and still managed to find the time to fit us in. My windshield wiper broke on the drivers side so I needed to get that fixed asap. I went up there on my lunch break & they told me theyd fix it right then & there for me. I was so thankful bc I thought itd take a couple days to order parts, etc. I needed a new wiper blade motor & I went in at 1ish & had my car back at 5. Since I dont work too far away they were able to give me a ride back to my job. By far the best customer service Ive ever had in my life. The staff are all so kind & it definitely has a homey touch to the place. You can tell they really care about you. I need other work done on my car and Ill definitely be going back there. I was in Grand Rapids for the week, and when ready to leave on Saturday 2-22-14 at 2pm, my F150 would not start. Because of the weather, tow trucks were an 8 hour wait. I found Westside on my phone. Best phone call I ever made. I spoke with Tommy and he understood my problem but his tow truck was out for most of the day also. Tommy helped me troubleshoot the problem with about 4 phone calls, understanding that if he got started he would lose the business because I would have went back to the east side because he couldnt work on it until Monday. I ended up with the help of the Grand downtown towing it to Westside and Tommy still tried to get it started before I left. I picked the truck up Monday afternoon. These guys went beyond the call of duty to make my day and the experience as painless as possible. They are fair and reasonable. I will travel across the state when my oil change is due!!! Thanks to Westside for being there.!!!!!!

This was my first experience with Westside Garage and was very pleased. It came as a recommendation from someone from work, and the only issue I had was that a part on my door was put back on my car wrong. So I had to take it back for it to be fixed. However, it was a quick easy fix for them. It just would have been nice not to have had to make a second trip to fix. Other than that, I felt that they did a very good job at a fair price. I really appreciated how the owner was willing to meet with me after hours due to my work schedule, and he seemed to genuinely care. I plan to continue going there with my car in the future and would recommend them to any one.

I have brought my wifes car to Westside garage due to dishonest repairs with a different garage in which the guys at Westside took great care of us and getting the issue resolved ever since then Ive been bringing her car back for oil changes to transmission and anything in between every time I get a quote from Westside its a better price than any other garage Ive been to not to mention how welcome they make you feel when you walk in the door they will make you feel as though you are a part of their family. This was my first experience with Westside Garage and I was very happy. They were able to get me in the next day after I called, and I got my car back the same day I brought it. A nice gentleman named Charlie not only drove me home, but also came from his house to pick me up and bring me back to the garage in the evening when my car was ready. Tommy explained everything he did very well, was honest and patient with my questions. Im due for more work soon and Ill be glad to bring my car back here!

After being quoted nearly $2000 in repairs on my 2006 Saturn Ion by another company, I asked friends for recommendations on other mechanics. We were told about West Side Garage and how amazing they were. We took our car in to West Side for a second opinion and turns out it was only vacuum line. What we were originally told was a $2000 was only $90. We couldn’t be happier and now have ourselves a new mechanic we trust. They are not a cash grab garage and value their customers. Highly recommend!

These guys have only fixed our cars a few times so far, but I can tell you my husband and I agree that we have found our mechanic here in Grand Rapids! 4 people in my office use them, and I am so glad they recommended them to us. They find us great prices on parts, they are timely, and they can fit us in when were in a pinch (I literally called them from the side of the road this week, and they got our car in the next day with a full lot of cars). From advice about what to do when we need to get rid of our car, what upcoming repairs they see coming, and what we REALLY need and what we can live without, I truly feel they have our best interest at heart. I cant say enough good things about this team.

They were able to make an opening to take a look at my car and do the necessary repairs the morning I called them after I emphasized I really needed it done today. Tommy was friendly and professional and the rates were reasonable; No attempts to sell me work I didnt need were made. Had an issue with my S10 (tatertots ❤). They took care of both my worries AND my truck. They really take in consideration of how it is like to live in Michigan (weather, roads, people..etc). They want their customers leaving with a safe vehicle and confidence. They even walk you through what is going on inside your vehicle. I got to touch, handle and learn about my fuel pump, spark plugs, distributor..etc. Westside Garage goes the extra mile. They estimated a job for me for $948. I had a guy fix it for $70. Maybe a good place for people with too much money.

After my vehicle broke down, I tried to call multiple times and was repeatedly sent to voicemail after one ring. Since I broke down in the general vicinity of this shop and their website stated that they offer towing, I had few choices but to have a friend drop me off to check my vehicle in here despite being unable to get a hold of them by phone. Even when I got there, the owner, Dave Parm, was on the phone and didn’t even look up to acknowledge me for 10 minutes while I was standing in the lobby waiting.Their tow truck was not in service, so he had to outsource the towing despite it being a service offered on their site. The cost ended up being more than what it would have had I contacted the tow service directly. He also promised a call by 9:30am to confirm that the vehicle was safe and that they had it in their possession, but I had to call them twice throughout my work day and wasn’t even able to confirm that they had it at the shop until 2:30pm (after being put on hold for 15 minutes).Even after I finally confirmed the car was at the shop, they didn’t look at it until the following day and then, on top of that, quoted me $900 for what should have been a $500-600 repair. Mind you, I did mention to him that this vehicle is my only source of transportation and I needed to make a decision quickly. The owner also charged me $80 on top of the cost of the tow just to even diagnose the vehicle – literally nothing was even fixed for this price.Over all, I am very dissatisfied and will be taking my vehicle elsewhere in the future. I am astounded at the number of 5-star ratings this shop received. Maybe we have a different definition of what great customer service looks like, but for me, this shop is not it. After multiple promises to give just a 2-minute call to update me on the status of the vehicle and having to track them down myself, I can’t help but feel that they need to work on their professionalism. Being quoted nearly twice the price of comparable shops is outrageous. Perhaps they need to add more office support to manage administrative tasks like phone calls to customers and establish a greeting policy when someone physically walks through the door.

Ive been taking my car to Westside for all my car repairs for the past couple years. I got a referral from a coworker. Westside is always busy with work but makes every effort to give the best customer service including loaners or rides back to work. I always feel that theyre being fair and honest with me and will give you a break on rates if you are a return customer. Highly recommended.

Great experience working with Tommy! I am a college student and was left stranded when my vehicle broke down one day. I googled auto shops in the area and read the reviews left for them and decided to give them a call. Tommy was extremely helpful, found me a tow truck, gave me a great price (with a student discount), and had it fixed the same day! It made a terrible experience turn out to be not as stressful as it could have been, and I will definitely be returning while I am in the Grand Rapids area.

I trust these guys. I dont know what else I need to say. I have two cars, both over ten years old, both with over 230,000 miles. They keep them running and they dont gouge me. Finding people you trust to work on your car or your house is hard. I wish these guys did both. But Ill be happy that they will take care of my cars.

These guys helped me out beyond belief, as a person with an expensive, time consuming repair and not a lot of money to pay for it. They did everything they could to help me out, keeping me informed and updated through the entire process, went out of their way to get it done fast and worked after hours to make it work with their busy schedule as my own. Thoughtful, knowledgable, informative, and kind, and with the cutest bulldog puppy Ive ever met to boot. Cannot talk these guys up enough!Im very glad to have my baby back in high working order.

The owner was very nice and explained everything my car needed based on urgency of repairs. Im a single mom and its important to plan repairs/maintenance and Dave (owner) has helped me do this by taking the time to explain details honestly and thoroughly. Westside Garage has fair pricing as well. I feel very comfortable with the work Westside Garage has done thus far on my car and plan to return for any future repairs my car may require.

Dave & his team were awesome! I had a light that would not stop turning on after I had a touch screen radio installed. Turns out I had some bad wiring done that I didnt even have a clue about and no one in GR wanted to mess with it. But Dave & his guys completely fixed my car up & havent had an issue since then! Also had incredible customer service that was genuine & quick!

Excellent service. This was my first time having to go to a garage because my dad always does my car maintence, but getting steering fluid this morning was urgent. The guy who sits at the left desk helped me out. He was so nice and stopped what he was doing to help me! Life saver because I was in a hurry. Definitely recommend!

This place is awesome the owner is fantastic!! In a pinch in desperate to correct winter tires a day before the first snow storm of the season, they delivered great used tires. boy did they deliver.. almost brand new tires a little bit wider than my usual. Price for affordability and the common people like me. Great service and they sell cars. Wont go anywhere else on the west side.

Ive lived in the area for 3 years and have had a difficult time finding a shop that is trustworthy, efficient, and affordable. Ive taken my vehicle to this shop twice and both times the shop owner, Dave, has walked me through the problems and my options for repair. Both repairs were affordable, and Dave was nice enough to throw in some complimentary care for my car. Needless to say, Ive ended my search for a dependable shop.

I am completely out of my element when it comes to anything auto and unfortunately Ive had a lot of mechanics take advantage of that. Not the case at West Side Garage. Every single employee Ive encountered treats every customer with honesty and respect. I cant recommend them enough! Your car and wallet will thank you for being one of their customers.

Hands down the best service I have ever had. Dave is honest, trustworthy and truly cares about his customers. He goes above an beyond. He towed my car in free of charge and provided a loaner car free of charge. After it was all said and done, he saved me about 300 to 400 dollars. He also kept me updated on the progress of my repairs everyday. You will not be disappointed with the results. Everyone I know will be going to Westside Garage. Thanks Dave!!

Dave Parm at Westside Garage has been taking care of my vehicles for 15 years or so. He has always been more than fair with my entire family. With Westside I can send my daughter there and trust that her car will be taken care of properly and the pricing will be fair. To me what is most important, in my business dealing, is trust.
