I used to only go to Floyd’s but my son was having a very hard time with hair cuts because of how the clippers feel. A barber at Floyd’s whom I forget the name of, did his best to hand cut my sons hair. It was amazing.Sadly, my son still wasn’t having it. We did eventually discover that Sports Clips worked better because the TV distracted him enough.But I still love Floyd’s. Especially the Crofton one.

Be prepared to pay more than they tell you it will cost.My teen daughter went in for a color consultation. She had a photo of the look she wanted. She was given a price ($120) and booked the appointment.Due to Covid-19, I was asked not to stay while her hair was colored and was asked to come back in 1 1/2 hours. I came back and was asked to come back in another 1/2 hour. When I picked her up I was surprised that the bill was higher than expected. She was charged for two additional services. According to my daughter, they didnt ask her about either one--they just did it. The total was $163. I would have fought it, but my daughter was late for work--she was told to allow one hour for the appointment--so I just paid and left.The staff were very personable and my daughter likes her hair, but I feel taken advantage of.

The greatest failure of Floyd’s 99 Barbershop is that it does not foster a sense of loyalty to its customers. There is no consideration or accommodation made for long term patrons. It is first come, first serve. The barbers and hairstylists are great but the business misses the mark. I recommend you consider a customer loyalty program that ensures your long term customers obtain the service they require in a reasonable amount of time, or at least one that makes some accommodation or semblance of accommodation for those that consistently bring revenue into your company. So, after 5 years of loyal patronage to the Ellicott City branch, enduring waiting days to weeks for an appointment, I am now looking for another barbershop.I give it 3 stars for the exceptional hair stylists and barbers. Business model alone would get 2 stars as the atmosphere is nice.

To whom it may concern:I am writing to you about my recent experience (June 19, 2020) at Floyds 99 Barbershop located at - 9050 Baltimore National Pike#102, Ellicott City, MD 21042.I was a usual customer at Floyds 99 until I interacted with an alleged manager by the name Lisa. To provide some context, I booked an appointment online for my eight-year-old son unknowingly my wife had also scheduled an appointment for earlier that day. I arrived and was prompted by Linda to check-in using my name. She then very rudely began scolding me for missing my appointment and how we violated Floyds cancellation policy; meanwhile, my son is looking up at me, frightened and confused. I tried to explain what happened to her, and I apologized multiple times, but she continued to reiterate that we violated policy. She also dared to tell me that I should inform my wife of these rules so that it doesnt happen again.To avoid making more of a scene, I politely asked for the young ladies name and left the barbershop. Conclusively, I fully understand and respect policies and procedures, but given the situation and the fact that she is a manager, this should have been handled differently. I do not doubt that Floyds 99 strives to provide exceptional client service. However, I would re-look at their managerial selection process, especially in a business that is driven by customer service.I would appreciate someones follow-up on this matter.Respectfully,Greg

I am writing this review to make the community aware of the terrible customer service experience I just had at the Ellicott City Floyds 99 Barbershop location [9050 Baltimore National Pike Ste. 102, Ellicott City, MD 21042] specifically from the store manager Lisa C.I have been a loyal customer for the past few years and have never experienced any issues until now. I won the Floyds 12 free haircuts raffle at this location late 2019/early 2020 at the store. They called me to tell me that I had won but I never received any card or email notification. I have redeemed about two free haircuts since then.Yesterday when I went to the counter to check out after my haircut, I mentioned to Amber at the front desk (who is always friendly and does a great job) that I had won a previous raffle and that I should have some free haircuts on file (I had only used 2 at this point). She then went over to the manager Lisa to ask a few questions and then came back. Lisa then came over and was immediately confrontational, aggressive and rude. I was doing my best to recall some details surrounding the raffle to help them find out which raffle I had won and who they could perhaps contact to get details. Instead of trying to communicate with me in a professional manner, Lisa immediately treated me as if I was lying. She said, I didnt call the winner and no one called me when you were in the store (as if she was trying to catch me in a lie). But the raffle was early last this year or late last year well before Lisa was even hired (did bother to ask me which raffle I had won). It was abundantly and immediately clear that Lisa did not want or care to help get to the bottom of this.I said is there any way you can look in my customer history to see that I have won this raffle? and Lisa then said We can see that your past two haircuts were free. I then asked going forward, is there any way to document that I won the raffle on my account? [so that we can avoid this next time]. Lisa responded snarkily Im not putting my name on it.... and immediately walked away, completely dismissing me and the issue. This put Amber at the front desk in the awkward and uncomfortable position of having to answer my question what is the status of my raffle winnings?. Amber accurately said that at this point she is not sure whether they can honor my raffle winnings (as Lisa who was responsible for answering this question, just dismissively walked away from the desk to avoid the situation).I am a very relaxed, polite, and calm person, but this was by far the most unprofessional and disrespectful behavior I have experienced at any store in a long time. And for the manager to treat a customer this way? I was completely caught off guard and shocked.Let me be completely clear, this is not about the free haircuts I won from the raffle, this is about the way I was treated by the manager Lisa C.Issues:1. The manager Lisa C. treating a customer like a criminal before even getting all of the details.2. Not honoring the raffle and barely even trying to verify this information.3. Manager Lisa C. was aggressive, rude, and confrontational. She dismissed me and rudely walked away without resolving the issue leaving the front desk staff on their own.I will not return to this store, even to redeem my free haircuts. What is more important is that I would like to make it known to the community that this shop is not the same as it once was prior to the management change.

I was referred by my fiancé who was seeing a stylist who is not longer there. He referred me to Tess F! If you love animals, THIS IS WHO YOU MUST SEE! She is awesome & has tons of experience. She has trimmed, cut, dyed my hair and did very well! Even with my anxiety of cutting my hair & worrying it won’t turn out well, she knows how to relieve it! During our appointment, we talk about our animals ! She’s got some super hilarious stories about her animals & even her hubby ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!

This is by far the best barbershop for us to take our 2 year old for his haircuts. Not only is all the staff extremely talented, polite, and patient if he gets upset, but the use the quietest electric clippers Ive ever heard (the very loud, noisy clippers is what upset my son in the past at other barbershops). While we have to drive a bit out of our way to get to Floyds, its totally worth it. We are customers for life!

Perfect establishment. Appointments are easily made, atmosphere is casual and friendly. Pricing is low for the services offered and in/out very quickly due to having the appropriate amount staffing for all days/times of the week. Lastly, Kathy K. is the BEST stylist/barber I have been to in years. If you are fortunate enough to get an appointment with her grab it immediately as she books up quickly.

I always thought Floyds was incredibly overpriced compared to its competitors, but I had a particularly bad customer service experience. I was overcharged after being quoted a price and when I called the store manager to dispute it, the manager was incredibly rude and hung up on me without addressing any of my concerns. Full story below.I called the business before arriving get a price quote for a wash and French braid. I was told that it would cost $4 for a hair wash, $10 for a dry, and the host didnt know the price of the braid off the top of [his] head. I want to emphasize that the drying was quoted at just $10, not that that was a base price and it went up from there or that that number was an estimate.My girlfriend and I arrived and got the wash, dry, and braid. We were there for about 15 minutes, wait time not included, and received good customer service while we were there. When we went to pay, the stylist told the cashier to just make it $10 in reference to the braid. The bill was $40.00. I demanded to know what cost so much, and repeated what I was told on the phone. The dry actually cost $26 because the price varies by hair length, and my girlfriend has long hair by their standards. At most other salons, she has medium length hair, and we have never been charged so much for a dry before. I protested that I was not told that the $10 quote was a base price or estimate, and the host/cashier said they usually do not price over the phone for that reason, to which I said he did not tell me that on the phone, either. I was instructed to call the manager to dispute pricing. We paid, with a $10 tip, and were not given a receipt. On top of that, the braid came out after a few hours.I called the manager and explained everything that happened, including the braid coming out, and that I would not have gone to their business had I known that $10 was only a base price. She pulled up the receipt and refused to tell me exactly what it said. She said that the braid is a 30 minute up-do and usually costs $30 but the stylist was new. She said we should be grateful we were undercharged. I told her that was the fault of her employees and that my issue was the misquote, and that I wanted my $16 back from that. She refused and when I tried to insist that the mistake was their fault and I would go to the Better Business Bureau, she hung up on me.

Recently, Ive had the worse haircut given. I asked one of their barbers tor an INCH on the sides, not CENTIMETER. I was even bitten by the buzzer on the ears a few times while the lady lopped more than I asked. Didnt even looked in the mirror often to make it symmetrical. The staff are nice but I hate to say this, they are incompetent. All their customers that come here are usually little boys and thats it. If you are not that demographic, do not use this store. I will never come here ever again.The company is a disappointment with incompetent workers that rush their haircuts

She does a great shampoo and provides a head massage that can put you to sleep. I highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for a great stylist and cares about her clients.

Went to this Barbershop on 9/1/18 and it was packed. The front desk person took down my number and said she would call me back. Well she didnt and when I returned around 6:30pm, I inquired, and she stated, we were not going to call you back with a nasty attitude and she stated I have 2 in front of you and there was indeed 2 ahead of me. Two people were seen and thought I was next until a family 3 came in after me and was immediately seen. I would never patronize this place again. The front desk customer service was horrible and as a business owner, I would never hire her to represent my business. She was so concerned with eating her Jimmy Johns sandwich, therefore sale was missed. I would like to believe the experience was not due to the fact that Im a black professional...well, it was blatant!!! I recommend the owner of this establishment re-evaluate who they put as the face of their company.

Both my kids get their hair cuts here and they do a really good job. However I got my hair cut here and well probably not going back for my self. I had a stylist give me a bang but instead of cutting a long one then asking if I want it shorter she straight went short. Needless to say I hate it and now i am stuck with it for months. My coworkers got a good laugh so I guess it wasnt bad for everyone! Seriously disappointed on the lack of judgment when cutting .I do not want to write all bad though they have done great job on the kids ! I scheduled a 4:00 appointment and they took me in on time, I asked for a #1 on the sides and a little bit off the top like always, my normal hair cutter Amanda who’s terrific wasn’t there this weekendSo the lady started at 4:00 and finished at 4:05 she didn’t even let me look in mirror to see what she was doing completely rushed and than I called to complain and they told me she’s having problems with her ankle and not feeling good today..... Well thanks for giving me her to cut my hair because she left patches on my sides and not joking holes on top of my head I’ll be lucky if my hair grows back normal for thanks giving. I went and everything was nice. Nice music, nice people, and I got a nice haircut. But, when they shaved the back of my neck with the razor they cut me up pretty bad. While I was driving home I touched a cut because it felt like I rubbed biofreeze on my neck and I was bleeding! I couldn’t see how bad it was until a coworker of mine saw it and took a picture of it for me and showed me. Would be one star but I like my haircut so bonus star.

I recently had a visit to floyd’s barbershop on route 49 and i experienced the WORST haircut of my life. I’ve had many pleasant visits with floyd’s before but my experience with Lucia was horrendous. I wondered if she even had a cosmetology license due to her poor skill level and the lack of her cosmetology license being displaced. i felt rushed and felt as if she barely listened to my wishes as a paying customer. i received something i did not ask for with irreversible effects. I am extremely disappointment with today’s visit to floyd’s. I think Lucia needs to be fired and i warn everyone to stay away from her!!

Take the kids here for haircuts. Seems like they try a little too hard to be edgy and hip. Every so often my son gets an unfortunate interpretation of what we tell them to give him. Im sure there are better places, but its close, and fairly cheap.

Update 25th Feb 2019: I was again to get my hair cutting. This time I thought let me do appoint with Barber because of before I was cutting my hair with stylish. I was disappointed again with there service. I didnt feel like I have cut my hair with barber. I would say that this is not barber shop. I have also attached proof that they have missed some hair and barber use straight razor without protector. This barber use razor with protector. I was disappointed after I washed my hair because I noticed this after it. You can also see on my picture that shape up was not even sharp.I am going this barber place from my last two hair cut. I am happy with they are cutting my hair cut. They are very experienced hair stylists. When I went for my second hair cut. I went on and of the day when barber shop was about to close and the lady who was cutting hair she was finish for the day but I request her to cut my hair. She did almost good job but I noticed that she was in rush to cut my hair because I guess she aant to go home.Therefore, I would suggest to go before the shop close.

Wow is all I have to say. I had a great experience here at Floyds. Only one big problem. The lady that cut my hair decided to cut my forehead as well. I havent had that happen since I was 10 yo and moving around in my chair uncontrollably. I really want to give Floyds 5 stars so I will revisit for a redemption cut. MUAH HAHAHAMy original post was made and I gave them 3 stars and explanation is above. Since then I revisited Floyds and had exceptional service. I rounded the two services and give them an overall 4 star. First impression are more important and this is the first time I edited a review because the service was superb. I came here for the haircut experience I’ve associated with the other Floyd’s locations. I made an appointment the previous night and the following morning seemed to go wrong from the beginning. The stylist was late to work, so I waited, then she spent my whole experience talking about her family who was coming in, and then paying attention to her family that came in. I felt like it was unprofessional but was prepared to pay my 20 some dollars, a normal tip and get out. When I got to the register, the stylist instructed the receptionist to charge me for a mid-length cut. Going in, my hair was only slightly longer than a pixie and just needed to be trimmed up. Absolutely ridiculous. I regret not taking it to a manager. I might be more forgiving if it looked like I had a $40 cut instead of a poorly assessed trim.

I came in yesterday and I had Lisa cut my hair. After I told her how Id like my hair cut (I am particular about how it is cut to ensure no miscommunication occurs. I have done this many times in many visits to this Floyds without a problem) she started getting extremely defensive, saying that I dont know what Im talking about and that I shouldnt tell her how to do her job. I said nothing that would undermine her ability as a barber, yet she felt attacked when I was simply being specific about how Id like my hair cut. Ive never had this type of issue in any of my past visits to this Floyds, and I will still continue to come to Floyds for my shapeups, but I certainly will not ask for Lisa again. I ultimately was happy with my actual haircut from Lisa, but her attitude left a really sour taste in my mouth. I hope the Floyds Ellicott City management will review this matter seriously.

I have an v-shaped undercut. I got it done originally here and the lady was wonderful and my hair looked great. However I have gone back twice to get it just trimmed down and a simple design and both times they messed it up. They said they could do it and they lied. The first lady just messed up the design which is fine because it will grow out, but the second lady shaved even more of my head, made the point off centered, and made the design look awful. I would not recommend floyds for any undercut needs.

I went in for a walk-in hair cut on a Sunday about 2 weeks ago. I had Syvonne and she was awesome! I havent gone to a salon probably about 2-4 years because Im never totally happy with the cut that I get. Ive just been cutting my hair and bangs myself for the past few years. However, I decided to try Floyds and I cant wait to go back for my next haircut! Syvonne totally understood what I wanted. I also had some questions about color and she gave me great advice, as I might want to try some color eventually. She seemed really skilled and even explained how and why she was doing certain things when she was cutting it. I usually am not a big talker when getting my hair cut, but chatting with her came naturally and it was fun! Loved the shampooing too! Really reasonable prices.

I had an amazing experience with Tess, especially since I went in there looking like a member of the Beatles with my haircut that I neglected for a year and I just had the overwhelming want to go for shaved sides with a longer top. I was in and out within an hour, even with color, and its been a month and a half since I went in there and Im still gushing over my haircut and the cleanness of the cut.

I’ve gone to this barbershop going on 4 years. Lots of great barbers for men and women. If you’ve never been they play alternative music, have TVs to watch while you wait and give you vibrating hand massages at the end of your cut. All of the barbers can do the latest hair trends from beibs to timberlake to Bryce Harper, haha.

I visited Floyds today 9/2/18 and was unhappy and walked out after an hour of waiting. I understand they were busy so my son and i waited for about an hour. After an hour I went to ask how long more was the wait and was told there were two more ahead of me. Shocked by this I immediately left and went to Hair Cuttery where my son was seen immediately and my sons hair cut took less than 15 mins. Never coming to Floyds again. There were at least 5 people that came after us and were seen before us. Not sure if they had appointments or not but I definitely waited patiently until my patience ran out. Not to mention i noticed the two barbers outside on their cigarette breaks as i was leaving. So disappointed.

Completely destroyed my hair. I look like Kim Jung Uns evil white wanna be. BUT I NEVER WANTED TO LOOK LIKE KIM. I wanted my hair to be tapered instead I got an uneven hack job. Now I need to find someone to fix this. Ill never go back. If a barber doesnt know how to do something they should use customers as Guinea pigs. Id give 0 stars if I could.

I came in for a walk-in appointment and the hairdresser who called me to her chair was coughing up a fit and sniffling. She said she was SICK and started getting an attitude when I asked to wait for somebody else because I wasnt trying to get sick. What kind of barber shop allows the hairdressers/barbers to come in sick and infect customers? I can understand coming in sick to work when you arent in contact with customers, but as a hairdresser??? The contact doesnt get any more intimate than that.Needless to say, I wont be coming back.

I like this place a lot accept for when they are badly understaffed. No reason I should wait 45 mins in a Tuesday at 10am. Only 2 stylists. Clearly trying to save money instead of providing good service. This is happening more and more recently.

Sarah R. had been my stylist for several years and today, upon trying to book an appointment, I was told she is no longer employed there. They would not let me know where Sarah went so now I am without a hair stylist. Floyds as a company is worthless to me if the person who I had been regularly going to is no longer there and they wont let me know where she went.
