I can’t say enough about Big A and the staff. I had my car back and running smoothly within 24 hours of being on the side of the road unsure of where to have it taken.Going into a weekend, I didn’t expect to have it back or let alone know the issue until the following week. They even replaced my long overdue brakes - upon my request!These guys were so kind, genuine and went above and beyond to help me out, making a stressful situation a lot less stressful! I would recommend this place to anyone and plan to have all future work done here :)

Was my first time going, went in for a routine oil change and they still checked all the bases. And the things that they felt needed down they took photos of. Then came over to me to explain why they recommend it while showing me what they were talking about. Staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Prices beat all other nearby places too. I recently had Big A take care of several items that needed replacement and service. My 2009 truck rides like a new truck.

From my experience the only thing you can actually get from here is oil or coolant. Anything else and they look at you like you asked for space ship parts.

Just moved to Dubuque and was referred to Big A for car service. I have taken 2 vehicles here for service a couple different times. They were very thorough with explaining what was wrong with my car ( even pictures )along with what was needed for repairs. I would HIGHLY recommend Big A for all your vehicles needs.

Great customer service. Got an oil change done today, and I was in there for probably no more that 20-25 minutes. I like how they send me text message notifications on a full evaluation on my car, and suggests on parts that needs to be repaired in the future.

The guys at Big A Auto do a great job with my Jeep. Its comforting knowing that they are thorough when they do their work. With oil changes they let me know if they notice something that needs attention, or something to just be aware of, which is nice so things dont come as a huge surprise when the time to fix comes around. They were able to get my car in the garage the same day I called and had it done when they said they would. Also much less expensive than I thought it was going to be. I’ll be back.

I purchased my tires at Big A Auto and have had cars serviced there for various reasons. I always receive a good, honest service and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend them! My tires are the best! I do a lot of traveling for my kids sports events and they are durable and great in bad weather.

Very impressed at how accommodating Big A Auto sales were. They were able to diagnose the issue quickly and get it fixed all for a fraction of what others would have charged. We needed a tire repaired, and there was a bit of a rush due to an appointment. They got us in immediately, were incredibly helpful and friendly, and did a great job. The guys are very professional, and the shop is incredibly clean. And they arent just a tire/parts place. They can do just about anything anyone would ever need short of a major overhaul. This place is a real gem, and we didnt even realize they were there. We will be back. Thanks Eric!

Had a really great experience with Big A Auto. Was able to schedule an oil change online which is super convenient. The staff performed some routine maintenance checks and let me know what else was in need of service (including that my vehicle had a safety recall that was not yet repaired). Friendly service staff, comfortable waiting area and straightforward pricing will have me returning again.

A couple of veterans suggested bringing my car to Big A Auto for my auto repairs and oil changes. It started with an email to Tony at Big A Auto and he replied straight away. I needed the rear brakes replaced and honestly I was worried about the cost. Tony set up an appointment to first look at the brakes to see just how bad they were, and then worked in a discount for being military/veteran. I was amazed at how much the cost for the repair was. Needless to say, thanks to my fellow veterans for recommending Big A Auto because I will bring my car here for all her needs. The customer service and honesty is tremendous, and I recommend Big A Auto to everyone! Thank you very much Big A Auto.

Pretty knowledgeable group of guys. They can virtually fix any problem you have. Theyre prompt, timely and very accommodative. Business is very clean, and they dont push you into making a hasty decision nor shove products down your throat. Giving them a four-star review because of their price point. Had them recently replace my rear brakes and rotors as well as the one of the bearings. Quite a bit of work so I understand the labor they put into it. I came back a week later to have one of the rear calipers replaced after it had gotten stuck (not their fault I should have had it replaced when I was last in). I was quoted $305 to replace a single caliper; an exorbitant price. I called around town and a competitor offered to do the same work for $150. Bottom line: Decent business. Just be a smart consumer and compare prices before you buy. Although their services may not be the cheapest in town they will always provide you with quality.

Do you like receiving a repair bill with no identifiable part number, brand or warranty information on it? (I asked about the warranty and received 2 different terms, neither in writing for future reference). I was told that if they didnt have the part there in stock then they would go to Advance Auto or Napa to get the part, then they mark that part up beyond their discounted cost and fix your vehicle. Then I was also being charged $28.00 for shop supplies with no explanation of what those were other than Everybody else in town charges the same Doesnt mean that its the right thing to do. I expected better, what I got was overcharged. Customer acquisition and retention is the foundation for any business to survive, not overcharge the customer to pay the salaries of the shop. I always thought it was weird that when I went in there that the number of associates behind the counter were 4 times the number of customers on the floor. And they were always not really doing anything. Clean, organize or heck even greet them at the door as plentiful a number that you have working. Sheesh anyway.

Big A is a great operation. They are always quick to get me in and have a great team to assess whatever the issue. They have great follow up and are one of the best in town. I highly recommend these folks!

Called about having transmission problems, so instead of telling me that they don’t do transmission repair they told me to bring it in so they can “work on it” comeback 2 hrs later just to be given the diagnostic codes (that ran me $59 for just the test) then $20 for a quart of transmission fluid and then was told just to find somewhere else, So basically instead of telling me at the start they don’t work on transmission they just. Ran one test n charged me $80 for it. They did state they’ll give me a $30 refund but still the whole process is frustrating especially when I got to drive to Davenport in 10 days to pick my gf up from the airport

My first here and Im very impressed. Staff is courteous and professional. They also do a vehicle report to let know what else has too be done. Which is very helpful.

They repaired my exhaust system flawlessly and relatively inexpensively.

I know were Ill be doing all my auto business. I cannot Thank you enough! Long story short I own a excavation co. a piece of my machinery went down (starter issue) dangerously close to a flooding river with more rain coming. With this part not readily available from dealer a friend recommended you for my service needs. You dropped everything had multiple employees repairing my starter. In a very short amount of time Ive been sent out the door before I have a chance to pay or set up an account to save my day. The world is a better place with businesses like yours it reminds me of the old days when a hand shake ment something. I will return to get squared away. Thank you again.

Straight forward guys. Not trying to oversell. Definitely can tell tonys honest. Family works there as well so trust the service. Like the text with pictures of inspection report that links to a video of why its important. Only problem in past was i had dropped it off and couldnt use my phone at work until a break and took car out of the bay and i couldnt do the service however that makes sense as they need other cars to make money.

Big a Auto will try to upsell you to get unneccessary work done. They take advantage of naive people. Do research on the work first and get a better quote from somewhere else. I do not recommend this place.

Tony is the manger and he has been exceptional at the quality of service he provides. I have taken my cars to mechanics all over Dubuque and have never quite found one that provided the work integrity I was looking for the price I was paying. I brought my 2007 impala here to have an engine problem fixed and they had it done within a day and the price was very fair. They did an unbelievable job at a low price. This is the only mechanic shop in Dubuque that I will go to they only have to do the job once and have amazing customer service skills.

Good and bad. Sons 2005 Jaguar needed rack and pinion work. They did the work gave a warranty. Six months later needed samething. They fixed it no questions no charge. Same car had a radiator hose leaking. They told me $300 for the house. $300 LABOR. I went to Jaguar bought the house for $125 drove from Chicago to dubuque put the hose on in 5 minutes. Maybe the boss was gone that day or something. Who knows how theye came up with $600.

Ive been going to Big A and have never been disappointed. They are always upfront with any issues and costs. I would highly recommend Big A to family and friends.

My 16 year old son purchased a vehicles from Big A and 3 months later he had to put in a new rear end in the vehicle. Cost him a lot of money for the repair. Big A doesnt repair rear ends so he to take it somewhere else.

I had a great experience recently. Our car had a squeal coming from the alternator and I was quoted around 600 from one shop and 450ish from another for full replacement. The guys at Big A were very helpful and explained that it could just be the decoupler bearing. Sure enough it was, and it was a replaceable part. My total ending up being about half the price as a new alternator. They even called a few days later to make sure everything was operating correctly.
