I came to Bob Penkhus South on Friday 7/16/21 with a complaint of an intermittent metallic tapping noise from the front left of my car that I wanted to resolve before driving to Texas on Monday (7/19/21). After dropping off my car on Friday at 8:00 am, I was told that I would be contacted by the end of the day with an update. That did not happen and I was not offered a loaner car for the weekend. I called on Saturday (7/17/2021) and they said a right front wheel bearing was the cause of the noise. That did not make sense but I put my trust in the dealership to accurately diagnose the problem. When I picked up my car on Monday (7/19/2021), I could not hear the noise (unreliable as it was originally intermittent) and trusted that it was resolved. I drove to Texas the following day and the same noise returned. I called Bob Penkus Mazda South and explained what happened and they told me to bring the car in to them and that if it was related to the wheel bearing, they would fix it. This statement was ignorant because a) I had explained to them I was in Texas and live in Omaha and b) they acted like in no possibility could the noise be coming from another source. I drove home (noisy) and the Omaha Mazda dealership diagnosed a loose heat shield as the cause of the noise, which resolved the noise entirely. I contacted the Bob Penkhus South service manager, Bud Hall, to ask for at least a partial refund for the misdiagnosis. He responded that the noise in Texas was new (it was not, it was the exact same noise) and that they should make a full profit ($950) for the service (misdiagnosis) provided. He said the loose heat shield would have been evident in the inspection, but then why was the noise completely resolved once the heat shield was fixed? I feel mistreated and taken advantage of.Edit 8/18/2021, in response to Bud Halls response: Bud has my contact information, including email. If he wanted to make things right, why would he post for me to contact him on here when he can contact me directly? Further, I contacted his direct email last week to which I received no response. To what is said publicly does not match reality. Additionally, he states below that he regrets to hear that there was a noise in the rear after your trip. This statement that the noise was now coming from the rear is false, as the noise was coming from the front left, the same place it was coming from when I brought the car into Penkhus South. I am not challenging the fact that there was an issue with the right wheel bearing, I am challenging the fact that I brought the car in to get the front left noise resolved and the solution provided did not do so. Therefore, it does not make sense to pay in full for service that did not address the issue that I came in for.Edit 8/31/2021, follow up to previous edit: I emailed the dealership on 8/18/21 as they requested below and have yet to receive communication back. The disingenuous treatment continues.

Bought a used Mazda here and found out one of the tires had a slow leak. Finally took it to get checked and it had a plug in it near the inside side wall of tire. Told them about it and how no one wants to fix a sidewall repair so being an AWD car Im getting stuck with buying 4 new tires. Tad at the dealership told me he would look into it and now ignores my emails and phone call messages. I bought online and live 700 miles away or they would be seeing my face by now. My face would not be nice!

I have been sent away twice from other Bob Penkhus dealerships (North location). Being told “your all good to go”, when it comes to my two cars and tires. Each time I’ve had to go to the Motor City location because the “certified tech”,(which doesn’t even qualify as a mechanic) at the Northern location failed to due their job. This not only frustrates me because of my time being waisted but more importantly, it puts the safety of my family in jeopardy. Today was different I worked with Tashyla Vigil and Bud Hall. These two deserve a promotion and really went above and beyond to make my experience great.I will recommend these two to anyone. Thank you for your customer care

I wanted to provide a shout out for the excellent service I received from Tashyla Vigil. In my hurry to get my car back I paid the check online and drove to the service offices. Only problem was I didn’t check the voicemail stating the offices were closing at 6. So I rolled up at after that and the tech asked if I needed help. I said I had come to pickup my car, but when we realized Tashyla had left I was thinking I would just come back the next morning. But someone said they had seen her going to her car, went to get her, and she came back and got me the keys! Tashyla should get a raise for the over and above service!

Hands down the best service I have ever received from a dealership. I purchased my 2016 Wrangler from the sister dealership (Bob Penkhus Mazda at powers) and the service there was absolutely terrible. When I took my Jeep to the Motor City dealership Ryan Smith was the first person I talked to and helped me in any way he could. he went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and that my Jeep was in good hands while it was being worked on. Ryan kept me updated on every little thing that went on, and most importantly treated me like a human being rather than just a customer. Because of his service I will only be taking my Jeep to this dealership. They will forever have my business! Thank you Ryan!!!

The worst salesman on earth!! Thought I was poor and couldn’t afford a “30k” car and told me maybe a bicycle would work out better! He had such a demeaning attitude and was not helpful at all! Don’t come here to buy a car! Not friendly at all!

Recently purchased a 2016 Jeep Patriot from them. Had a little trouble communicating at first and found out the original car I was interested was an AS-IS sale with engine issues (wish that was on the website) However, my salesman David T. was great, they worked to get me approved. Gave me $2800 for my old Jeep (more than its worth) covered my warranty costs and had me out the door the same day with my new car. Very very happy with them overall

So my truck has been down there for almost a month and a half I just bought the truck from them in September for 24000 dollars didnt get the extended warranty because its a new truck from the dealership so Im thinking they do some type of test on the vehicle to make sure the transmission is good I have the truck for a month put 1000 miles on it and the transmission goes out i called them they told me that it would be better if I get it towed down to the shop I paid for the tow to the shop which was another 650 dollars and its been there ever since with not very good communication as to whats going on its going i have been calling and texting the finance manager but he tells me hell get back to me and never does. It cost 3200 to fix a truck that I just bought from them that Im making payments to the bank for so essentially I have a 24000 dollar paper weight that isnt even at my house so thats my story from dealing with Bob Penkhus so if you read this this is what Im dealing with now.

The sales manager at this location is unwilling to work with people and became obviously upset when I tried to barter the price of a vehicle and when I presented facts and information I found to support my arguments. So I left and went to the north Mazda dealership off of woodman and challenged them to help me get the price I needed. I walked out of there with 3k off of the price of the car and better financing to boot. GO TO THE NORTH DEALERSHIP!!

Was impressed by the new car dealership sales dept. Scott Hughes was not the typical high pressure salesman. Gave us the type of service that was informative and appreciated. Got a fair deal for the new car and for our used car.This new Mazda small SUV was actually one of the few that doesnt have the new and annoying automatic idle stop/start

So my car got stolen I got found and we had to take it to the dealership they were doing repairs or supposed to be I get a call for an update that the car is done currently being detailed as were speaking on the phone that the only thing theyre waiting 4 is a new appraisal for the insurance for some buttons on the side of a seat that got broken off from the theft I go down there nothing has been done to my vehicle theres still a donut on it the inside has not been detailed they make a circle on my vehicles dashboard I was straight-up lied to on the phone and Mark we could tell from the beginning wasnt a very nice guy but I didnt think theyd stoop that low to lie to me

Id have to start off this review by saying thank you to everyone at this dealership/garage. Joey, Jason, & Jeff got my car after being hydrolocked in water and blowing a rod which destroyed my engine. They did a very thorough job replacing my engine and provided excellent customer service and the communication with them was amazing. My car has since run great with not a single problem. I highly recommend this garage/dealership to anyone looking for nothing but quality. Thank you once again everyone

Lets be honest nobody wants a car vending machine!! We want to be able to walk into a dealership and be heard and educated on a vehicle we are interested in.Bob penkus is just the place for that. I did not walk into this Volvo dealership looking for a 60k car, I came into this dealership with a tight budget and very specific needs and these people went above and beyond for my families. I never felt pressured, I felt as though they truly cared, and busted their butts to get me in a vehicle I love and fit my budget but would also better my situation, and for that I am forever greatful!!! I bought my car here in 2016. I liked my sales guy but I do think I could have gotten more for my trade in if I had taken the time to sell it myself. Otherwise I wouldnt suggest this place for any maintenance to your vehicle. They charge RIDICULOUS fees. I paid more than $80 for a basic oil change... and they suggested services on top of that which would have put my bill over 500 dollars... highway robbery. I have had better and cheaper services at jiffylube with a coupon. :)

Our heat & air went out on vacation and we rolled in without an appointment and just a couple days in town. Our Service Advisor Joey and the mechanic were great. They overnight ordered the part to arrive right after the holiday, gave us a loaner car, and got us on the road to our next destination just a few hours behind our original plan.

Ok so, I purchased a brand new Mazda a few weeks ago from Bob Penkhus ( motor city ) . From the time we pulled in , to the time we left , it was a very pleasant experience . It’s weird to use those words when shopping at a dealership for a vehicle. The first person to greet us was Kyle. I was unsure of Kyle. His friendly professional demeanor , knowledge of the cars I was looking at , all around perfection of his job, put me on edge , I thought to myself “ he was going to sweet talk me into a car I can’t afford based solely on his good looks and smooth talking” , I was scared! BUT after many South Park references and laughs I soon realized he only wanted the best for me , and we , over the hours, became friends. Now, there’s another character that came with this experience. She goes by the name of Megan . Megan is the sales manager , and she is who scared me the most . I was introduced to her after I test drove a beautiful 2019 Mazda CX-3. She came out dressed to the T, every strand of hair in place , and not a bit of make up off Fleek. As she stood before me and started talking numbers I felt 1 inch tall. I could never afford these payments, this is embarrassing, how do I tell her this is not going to work. I’m just going to have to turn around and walk away. It is encroaching on 10 PM and I am still wasting their time as they go back and forth diligently trying to get me the payments I need . AT LAST !!! Megan magically comes to me with a glorious piece of paper, this piece of paper had numbers on it I could understand. She spoke proudly and clearly with no small print in regards to what I can expect for payments, what to expect out of my contract, and where to go from there . I drove away that night in a vehicle that was made this year, I never thought I would ever be able to do this !!! Long long story short, and on a very serious note - Kyle Perry and Megan Jung we’re truly some of the most professional hard-working employees I have ever met. They worked for hours trying to get me exactly what I needed to ensure I had a safe reliable vehicle, they even took my non-safe non-reliable vehicle for an extremely fair price . I bought my car September of this year, and I had a very difficult experience with this location from day 1. I had pre-arranged everything over the phone before coming to the store, but their practices were dubious at best.They brought me my brand new leased vehicle with a scratch, with promises of taking care of it and fixing it for me. I agreed under that premise. Then, they proceeded to take over a week to finalize the deal, blaming corporate. In a military town, you would think that Power of Attorney documents are common practice. (As a side note, they should also not be asking for proof of citizenship/U.S. Passport with a POA. That is irrelevant, especially after running my credit and confirming all other documentation was correct and in regulation.)My biggest complaints: 1. They never actually fixed the scratch, they just painted over it. If I had known, I would have asked for a different vehicle. They were very misleading with this; 2. I had to go to the dealership 4 times, and they had to meet me on two separate occasions because of problems with paperwork on their end; 3. When contacted by the general manager, the sales person who worked with me and their manager claimed I had no issues, even though I had told them I was unhappy with my experience and was promised a call back; 4. They sent my registration to the DMV 2-3 days after my temporary license plate has expired.I love my CX-5, but after my experience here, I dont plan to come back fro service or future leases. The communication with them was faulty when the buying period is over, they did not respect my time, and were not interested in addressing concerns. I am only giving the 3 stars because I love the car.

I ended up purchasing a vehicle from a different dealership, and I went with a Kia instead of a Mazda, and now they refuse to stop calling me, despite the fact that I’ve asked numerous agents to please stop. They literally call me daily, and leave voicemails each time. They send me daily emails, even though I’ve responded already telling them I was no longer on the market for a new vehicle.

This experience was from Powers location, but ALL should be aware they might try this to you here under the Mazda Certified shield!NOTE: IF this is a lie, then they will SUE ME and there will be an AMAZING discovery showing this is true. They already had google remove one posting, but google reinstated. They will respond with someone is reaching out to make the illusion they are responsive. Great social media deception, Matt Canales!Matt Canales, Texan sales manager, offered to take the flood damaged car back IMMEDIATELY after the mechanic said it was flood damaged and ONLY after I remove my previous negative post (which google is getting for me as proof). We removed the post, and then he let the car sit on his lot for 90 days and it was repossessed. Ruining my wifes credit.These baffling questions still loom for Bobby (Matt refers to him as Bobby I thought it was just Bob) to answer:Why would we return a car and have it willfully repossessed the day AFTER we purchased it? Why would we leave it on YOUR LOT?Wouldnt we just drive it until it was repossessed?What will come out in discovery that will NOT be able to be covered up with a lie from Matt:Matt said in court recordings that we left the car there to be fixed so we could take it back! He said Once I drop it off to service, I dunno what happens to the car. CALL LOGS will SHOW the service department NEVER attempted to tell us the car is ready! There are NO CALLS from their service department to ANY of the 4 phones in the house saying the car is ready for pick up! We will obtain your service department call logs to prove this fact that Matt lied about in court. This is ONE way we will show Matt Canales LIED about the intentions of the gentlemens handshake to return the car.

Matt the dealer is a horrid sales guy and will blatantly lie about any transactions he has made a deal with you on, No integrity from this company.Do your homework people! Don’t trust them willingly.
