My flight was delayed and arrived hours after the National counter had closed. After a few hours of sleep at the hotel, I arrived as the National counter opened and my car was still there waiting for my arrival. The gentleman at the counter was aware that my flight had arrived at 2:09 am, quickly got me in my car, and on my way. The customer service that I received was excellent.

Im a travel professional and needed to get ahold of someone at the airport. I called three separate days at different times of the day, and never could get through to anyone at the airport to speak to. Just put on hold and in a loop for 15-20 minutes at a time until I gave up. Ridiculous!Follow up to ED- I have clients arriving on flights AFTER the scheduled close time of the location and no one is willing to stay to make sure the customer is taken care of.There are no direct phone numbers to contact the location, everything is transferred to main reservations get transferred 3-4 times before getting someone at the location. Then I get transferred to the MAIN airport help desk, instead of the National desk!! When I DO call direct... I have to leave a voice message that no one ever returns.

The girl at the desk wasted about a half an hour of my time trying to argue that my Expedia reservations did not include airport tax. She tried to increase my bill by $110.I even showed her the cost breakdown on my phone yet she still tried to charge me $110 more than the reservation amount. As a frequent business Traveler I know that these reservation prices include all applicable taxes once theyre reserved online.Although I was delayed a half an hour or so, and had to move out of line while she called her supervisor I was able to get the correct price that was originally quoted online. Overall it was just a nuisance.She also advised me that she did not have the sedan which I requested and only had a van. I did not want a van I wanted a sedan.Perhaps she was trying to come in the back door to make me pay for the van upgrade because she did not have a sedan. Pretty sleazy if you ask me.

Waited for over 45 minutes while they cleaned cars (despite arriving 30 min after scheduled time) only to watch a worker wipe the car down with sanitizing wipes. Car wasnt full and I quickly realized it was, in fact, the car that had just been dropped off...incidentally I heard the person who dropped it off report a loud windshield leak....which was VERY MUCH there for my 5 hour drive. All in all.....this was a 0/4 star experience. Oh, and my receipt clearly shows that you included the previous renters miles on mine.....I get busy. I get COVID changes. I do NOT get this at all. (so thanks for continually asking for my public review...if you hadnt, I would have moved on)

I have rented from National for many years and have been satisfied each time. I recently rented a car for 1 week June 30-July 8 and was very disappointed. The car smelled of smoke, but it didnt smell like cigarette smoke. It was pouring down rain, otherwise I would have gone back into the airport ti change it out. I tried spraying it several times because where I was located and the time schedule I was on, changing cars was not an option. I did voice my concerns when I dropped off the car. The person at the desk apologized.

I was very disappointed with my car rental. I was given a small suv instead of a standard suv, and when I got in the car, every surface was much less than clean. I had to wipe the steering wheel down to get the stickiness off, the floors, dash and windows were all dirty, and the seats looked like they needed to be shampooed or cleaned with a cleaner. So, in summary, although I havent rented from National for a while, Im not encouraged to return to them based on this experience.

My experience at the National Rental in Cedar Rapids was terrible. The first car I was given as a supposed upgrade was a Dodge Durango and it reeked of smoke. I ended up having to go back in to get a different car, the next vehicle i was given was a Ford F-150 and while it didn’t smell of smoke it was clearly not cleaned, the center console had so much spilled coffee on it that it was unusable. Clearly they are not cleaning their cars despite the policy of cleaning and sanitation of each car after use. Very disappointed in this National branch.

I have used the Cedar Rapids Airport National several times. Last year I was delayed as they do not open until 8 am, there was a line and the clerk was 15 minutes late arriving to work. This time it all went very smoothly. Check in and drop off was quick. It is so convenient. At larger airports I like that I can walk down the Emerald Aisle and select whatever vehicle I want.

Rented a car at the Cedar Rapids airport. I was in town for a funeral. Car I requested was supposed to be Smoke Free. Two stickers on the dash identifying it as such, does not make it a smoke free car. It reeked of smoke as though multiple users had ignored the designation. I image it is hard to police what renters do with the cars once they leave the lot. But I would think that when the vehicle is returned and cleaned someone would try to correct the problem or change the designation to a smoking car. If I had more time I would have returned it and asked for a different car, but I was pressed to get to the funeral. I did make the lady aware upon return and she politely apologized. Not sure if this is a quality control issue or what.

I like National Car Rental as a supplier. The dealers are very accommodating and helpful. The website is difficult to navigate and confusing at times. I had 6 - One-Two-Free Rental days with the last one being accrued on 1/25/2019. There was no use by date on any of the coupons and I have just been told they were all obsolete and closed out.

First car I rented post Covid. Barely cleaned, various medications under the seats.Had a low tire when I picked it up, napins in the seat.AC seemed to be on its last leg, and the left rear strut was knocking around.

Ive always had great experiences with National but with my latest rental that I had at the airport in South Carolina, I had chosen what I thought was a Ford F150 and it turned out to be the new Ford Ranger. I signed the contract and proceeded to the vehicle, I opened the door of the vehicle and it had a very bad smell of someone that had probably smoked a pack of cigarettes in and the interior was not cleaned from the previous rental. Due to time constraints I didnt have time to seek a different vehicle. This rental was the exception to the rule with my past experience with National.

Once the manager on duty heard of my experience he was very prompt in resolving the issue and I have never seen a problem since. Thanks for being a great resource in the Cedar Rapids area.

The staff at the CR airport was awesome! I had to extend my rental a few more days and the process was very streamlined. Not only was I was able to keep the same vehicle, but I was in and out of the airport in a matter of minutes. And they even had smiles on their faces, which is becoming very rare in customer service these days. Picking up my car on a Sunday was quick and easy. Very friendly staff. 5 stars all around, except for the return part. My flight was first thing in the morning and there was no staff to direct where to park the car for a return. I had to just choose a spot and leave it there in the National row and drop the keys at the desk. Turns out that must be what was expected.

Saying the staff was great would be a stretch since there was only one person working there that I saw. The one person was very nice. This was the most confusing, understaffed, airport rentals I have experienced in all my years using National. I walked outside only to find there was no Aisle to choose from. I walked back inside and waited to get my keys and a location where the car was parked. No one was outside from any of the car rental agencies.When I returned the car, there was no one outside again and it was not clear as to where the car should be drooped off. I parked it near the National sign only to find out it was not in the correct spot. If you are wondering, it was freezing outside and I was not dressed for prolonged periods of time in the weather but instead I was dressed for a flight back to Hilton Head Island. This was not fun!

My Flight on Monday night from Ohare to Cedar Rapids was delayed until 1:30 am due to rain and my original rental was with Avis. When I got to the counter the Avis agent had left for the night, The National Agent was still there as He noticed the flight wasnt diverted but delayed and he stayed the extra 2.5 hours to make sure the National customers were served. I did not catch his name but He was a younger fellow and a true asset to Your team as He rented me the car so I could get to my Hotel and get some rest. I havent rented from National in a long time, I think that might change due to this individuals attentiveness and understanding of what it means to get a business traveler a rental car. He was outstanding, and I am a Super Elite traveler with Air Canada and do this almost every week and this Young Man was outstanding and a true asset to Your team. He made me feel very relaxed and took the stress out of feeling stranded. Good Job National

Understaffed - long line - took forever to get a car. AND to turn it in.Counter associate did not listen when I declined insurance which was right in my profile (corporate account).When I turned in the car, there was a charge for insurance. When I asked that I get a credit, they could not get rid of me and my wife fast enough.We cant help you here - you need to call the toll free number. - which I did. I was transferred twice because the person I was speaking with did not have the capacity to issue a credit (be careful if you have more than one card on file in your profile). I was told I would get a call back within a few days. - - - Did not happen.Called back again today - same story with a supervisor promising a credit within ten days. Well see. I told the nice man that this was a repeat conversation.I stated that after using National exclusively for years and trying to use a couple of free earned days turned out to be more trouble than what it was worth.

Ive never had trouble renting through Nationals locations. The cars are always newer with low mileage & help has always been friendly. The Cedar Rapids airport rental return could be marked a little more clearly however. The airports that Ive used in the past have always had staff outside assisting travelers returning, so I was expecting something similar with CID, which was more confusing. But otherwise, staff was friendly and helpful once you get inside & figure out the return process.

I have been renting with National for years and have been their elite emerald club member. For some reason there were few problems with the rental this time. The car was not properly inspected. As soon as I left the airport the fuel reading started doping after a few miles. Someone had filled up the SUV and then driven a few miles. The fault light kept coming and going, then it was constantly their. It was the tire pressure light and got it fixed. Apart from that the service was good.

Great service and great price when we got stuck at the airport due to a cancelled flight late at night. Nice big car too, luckily as there was four of us. The only reason for the four stars and not five is that we got re-routed out of a different airport and we had to change our rental to one way and the price was crazy expensive, almost six times more to drop it off less than two hours away.

This is a great location to rent a car. Competitive, low prices when compared to other places and the cars are pretty new too. However, I am not giving a 5 because, they do not hold the reserved cars class. I had booked for an intermediate but ended up getting a SantaFe (only minivan and SuVs were available and was told that all smaller and sedans were taken). Wait time at the counter is roughly 10 minutes depending upon the queue. Should be no prob if you have a reservation. All airports I visited have Emerald Aisle and I am surprised CID didnt have one. Would be great if you can set up Emerald Aisle for faster movement of the customers and cars (saves wait time). A pleasant rental experience overall.

Ever since Enterprise bought National/Alamo, I end up dealing with a Enterprise Branch Rental Manager who tries his/her level best to screw with the car class I have reserved.In this particular rental, I requested and Minivan. WELL in advance, and expected to get a minivan. I have rented Minivans from National all over the country, and never had a problem, until Enterprise managers started getting involved.This Particular Branch Manager told me that they didnt have any. Since I was late, (my flight was delayed) they had rented it out. He said he was going to Hook me up with a sweet Premium SUV. I asked if it had easy third row access. He said Not really, its an SUV. I explained that the reason that I needed to rent an Minivan was so that I could easily haul 6 grown people. I was exceedingly polite and nice, but I told him i needed what I reserved and that as a corporate account we had some expectations. Magically one was suddenly available.When this was National, I never had an issue. Now with Enterprise and their inane focus on maximizing the rate at any cost, and screwing around with people who just got off of long flights, I have lost most of my respect for them. I also have a Hertz 5 Star membership, which I use much, much more.Come on Jack and Andy Taylor. You have the money to do far better. Screw with your Insurance Replacement people, stop messing with the Airports, just give me the car I reserved and planned on paying for. If the GRM wants to review this, please feel free to contact me.

A day before leaving for Christmas our mechanic regretfully informed us our car would not be finished. So I tried to rent something to get to our destination. The first few places didnt have anything available but National assured me they had a vehicle the size we needed. We picked it up this morning. Brandy was helpful, friendly and efficient. Very quick getting in and out of the airport. Car was great, but Sirius XM radio just stopped working two days into the rental. It loked like the subscription had run out, but I cant be sure. Not sure if it was a car issue, but it was disappointing.

My flight to CID suffered long delays to the extent that I would not be on the ground until after the scheduled closing of the National desk. I tried several times to reach someone on the local number without success so had no idea if I would have a car waiting. When I finally entered the terminal, fifteen minutes after closing, I was greeted with a smile, my credentials were ready and waiting, as was my car. I wish I had written down the name of the young woman who waited late for me and put a bright halo on what had been a frustrating afternoon and evening. My thanks to her and to National.

Not pleased with service. I’m an Executive level Emerald Club member. I’m 6’2” and recently had back surgery. The agent at the counter offered a Nissan Altima. When I asked for a SUV or something that sits higher, she offered a Cherokee, Santa Fe or an Escape. I said don’t you have anything larger, like a Buick Enclave? The other person behind the counter chuckled and said “I don’t even know what an Enclave looks like. The person I’m speaking to said “you can have a Cherokee, Santa Fe or an Escape. I took the Cherokee. When I got to the lot (no Emerald Aisle at this airport), I see GMC Acadia’s, Mini Vans, Ford Edges... Didn’t go back to the counter as I didn’t want to deal with her again. ALSO, what is with disassembling the valet keys from the two key fobs and cabling all together. You want to walk around with that mess in your pocket. RIDICIULOUS

I travel nationwide, this national rental is the worst in the US. I rarely come to Cedar Rapids, but when I do... you can bet I’ll have a lousy rental experience here. Please, if you are not bound by national contract, take your business elsewhere.Also avoid their affiliated franchises Alamo and enterprise.

Didnt have emerald club aisle. Waited in line, then they couldnt find my reservation. After searching etc, finally found it. Got to the cars looking in specific spot looking for a sorrento only to find empty space and no sorrentos nearby...trooped back in. Clerk came out with me very helpfully. Came back with my Santa Fe...not my best experience with National.

I dont often rent a car in Iowa since its my home state. However I had a business trip to Wisconsin, and didnt want to put more miles on my own leased car . Bottom line for me was the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when i arrived to pick up my car . A last minute upgrade was no problem and the return could not have gone easier.

Absolutely horrible. Booked a reservation only to to find out they were closed when they clearly allowed me to reserve and it listed they were open online. I was stranded at the airport and they were absolutely unhelpful on the phone . The next morning they were unwilling to pay for my hotel and not willing to accommodate me in anyway. The attendant was rude and down right nasty. I will NEVER use them again.

Cedar Rapids is not a large or busy airport, so finding the place was fairly easy. When we got there, everything was already set up for us to go. We retrieved our baggage which came off directly in front of the rentals counter and we were gone. The car was parked approximately 75 feet from the door. We dropped it off at 5:30am the morning of our departure with no issues at all.

Upon return I asked for a receipt to be e-mailed to me. I returned the car full of gas, but was charged a $40 refuel charge which I did not realize until I landed in my home state. I had to call National twice to have the charges reversed and was basically told that it was my word against theirs. To me it seemed like National was taking advantage of me since I was in a hurry when I dropped the vehicle off and was hoping the additional charges would go unnoticed.
