The rental car that I got smells SO BAD. We were literally gagging the moment we opened the door. The stench is saturated in the seats, in the trunk, everywhere.. I dont know what it is, but it smells like lots of bodily fluids gone wrong (if you know what I mean), thats the only way I can describe it so you can imagine how grossed out we are. We have this car for one more day and honestly I have tried lysoling it, leaving the windows down for it to air out, you name it and it just seems to make it more angry! The creepy part is that the majority of it seems to be coming from the trunk, did someone transport a dead body in this??! 😬 Seriously though, its really starting to freak me out. If this was not bad enough, the guy who checked me out was a rude as heck. Said it was inconsiderate of me to pick it up before he closed and how long of a day he had. Well buddy, your work hours are stated online, I didnt give you those hours, we all work hard and considering Im a small business and needed the second car to go work 12-hour shifts that Summerfest, I mean I get it. Its rough, but dont take it out on the customer.

Worst rental experience ever. Vehicle was reserved 4 months in advance; I arrive day of to pick up and am told they dont have the vehicle. There were 0 attempts to notify me ahead of time. Instead they attempted to offer me lower vehicles for the same rate and zero compensation. Instead of taking care of the customer, they used false advertisement and switched to a different offer which carried more costs and risk. First and last dealings I will ever have with this establishment and Budget as a whole.

Overall it was an ok experience. However, in the very beginning, reserved online and paid up front for an Mid SUV (Mazda CX-5). Went to pick it up only to be told it wasnt returned so they upgraded me to a full size SUV(4Runner) but the catch was I had to pay for the upgrade- or downgrade to a sedan. I felt stuck because I needed a rental and needed the cargo room. I went with the 4runner, they did discount it a little bit so I was ok with that. There were little things that made it frustrating like no washer fluid, the inside was not very clean- someone had chocolate and it was melted to the console, the back windows had finger prints and smudge on them- gross. I cleaned it myself. Sent in a request for over-ride of the upgrade and their response was a $50 credit towards a future rental...I said nope keep it. Not sure if Ill rent from there in the future.

Very helpful staff! Last Monday night (9/21/20) the young man that was working stayed a bit late so that we could come back and retrieve the item that I forgot in the rental. I cant remember the lads name: Johnny, Donnie, Lonnie???The rental car itself was clean and reliable.When we had to extend the rental contract it was very easy to do by phone with the rental staff on duty.I will be recommending this location to friends.

The guys who helped us was AWESOME but the car was not in the greatest shape (but it was the only one we could find with the shortage going on right now) the windshield wipers were terrible in rain, one of the tires was almost completely bald, and we were low on oil

Dont let yourself be cheated!!!The Budget car rental office in Brookfield is very much unprofessional. If you are planning for renting car from Budget for your next trip please think again.I booked a car from them online and I was supposed to pick my car at 9:00 a.m. Even after going there at 9:30 a.m I found them closed!!I called the customer service, heard the phone ringing behind the closed door but their great(!) Customer service told me all the customer care agents are busy! Service My foot!Its an warning more than a review. Please think before you rent a car from budget.

Very nice group of employees here at Budget. Way better than Hertz! They have consistantly given me better cars in each of the classes, and once in a while they upgrade me multiple levels! Hertz wont even consider doing that, not even once! Very flexible, good rates, fast in and out. Couldnt ask for more.

This branch should be closed and rebooted. They messed up my paperwork for a factory recall exchange. The result was a $1377.43 bill. I spent the day today figuring out their issue. The branch manager lied to me saying that they processed the paperwork correctly. The branch manager also made me feel like I was the wrong doer. I will not ever use this branch again. The hassle I’ve experience because they cannot do their job is unacceptable.One more thing, I called 14 times over the span of two hours just to get them to pick up the phone. I even called the hotel desk to check if someone was there. She indicated they were and that they β€œjust weren’t picking up the phone.”

OMG... stay away from this car rental and go somewhere else! Booked a car for 8-11-18 to be picked up at 10:30 am. I had 7 people at my house, ready to leave in the rented car to a family event. Our son and I walked in, told them my name and the women said I tried to call you. BIG RED FLAG went up. She blamed ME for not having a phone number to contact me that morning. My fault you didnt have my phone number when I called you twice to verify, most recently four days prior to pickup. Jodi had verified they had my reservation and the car would be available to pick up on Saturday morning. The lady at the counter says to me we only have a 5 passenger car for you when I reserved a 7 passenger SUV. Our preferred customer still has the vehicle and he wont bring it back. He says as long as he is a preferred customer, he can have any vehicle he wants. Needless to say, a 5 passenger vehicle was not good enough and I was livid. They said they could not do anything more for me. What in the hell was I supposed to do when we were to leave for the event in 2 hours. I asked to speak to her manager on the phone and she told me the same thing, SOL... Told them that is why you guys have a 2 star rating and I will be giving them a review about my situation also and both ladies said, thats fine. WHAT!!!! That is your customer service. What a disgrace! They offered me no solution or remedy. I picked up my keys from the counter abruptly and she tells me you can leave now. STAY AWAY, as there are many other car rental companies you can use in good faith with good customer service.Update: This was a very stressful predicament Budget put me in on the day of our family event. I reached out to Budgets corporate office and they offered to send me a refund. The refund being the difference from the original Budget rental amount to a last minute rental from Enterprise. I appreciate Mr. Corey Hart for addressing this issue and refunding me my money.

I was disappointed when renting my car. I do not have a credit card so I was paying with my debit card. It just stinks that someone with less than great credit cant rent a car. I do understand that some people with bad credit would be a risk, but I could provide proof that I am not a credit risk (other than Budget pulling my credit score) and I have wonderful car insurance that would have paid if there was any damage. You dont know why my credit is bad and you just assume I dont pay my bills because of my lower credit score. Thank God my dad was there to assist me but how horrible that my dad had to help his grown daughter rent a car?!?Other than the problem renting the car my experience was good. Car was beautiful and the staff was very personable. In fact I fell in love with the car I rented and I will be purchasing one! Yes Budget I can afford a buick enclave! I think you should look again at your debit card policy and rethink it!!

We had car reservation at the Brookfield, WI location. Pick up was at 6PM. We called and told Ryan that we may arrive a few min late due to traffic. He was really rude over the phone and just kept saying Seven tomorrow. We still tried our best to make it on time, arriving at 6:02PM because the main doors to the hotel was locked. We had to walk around which caused us to be TWO MIN LATE! Ryan refused to assist us. He just kept saying that we can come back tomorrow at 7AM. He looked like he was rushing to leave. I dont understand why we were able to make a reservation for 6PM if you close at 6PM on the dot? There was no where in the contract stating we must arrive 10-15min prior to reservation. If he was a real professional he wouldve assisted us and got us our car right away. Weve rented from several location through out the year and never been treated this way. It ruined our plans on Memorial weekend. NEVER going to this location ever again!!!!!!!!

Do not rent from here! Was led to believe I could rent with just a debit card. Which is wrong because they check your credit to do so. Unlike enterprise who just requires a deposit. After I was declined for credit check the guy working was very rude and short and offered me no other options. Just can’t rent to you bye. Very unprofessional.

Great service - so good in fact hat it makes you forget the less than inspiring location. Very good value for money too - though pity for the not so clean car (crumbs, sugar crystals and liquid stains in every possible mug holder, compartment and nook in the vehicle).

***I highly recommend going to Enterprise, Hertz, or Dollar.***I had a reservation with a confirmation number but somehow the ladies at the desk could not find it. They continued to enter my information and call other desks (Ed?) trying to find a solution. After an hour of patiently waiting, I was finally told it appears my reservation is canceled. At this time the ladies at the desk told me that I could be rebooked but not at the same rate.I found that solution to be irresponsible and completely unsavory. I waited an hour after my reservation to be told my confirmed rate would not be honored. Fail.I then took it upon myself to call their customer service line. Mario was polite and looked into my reservation. Mario took my confirmation number and pulled up my reservation. He found that my reservation was intact and that I have already paid for and gotten my car. Wait...no, no, no. Im on the phone with Mario in the lobby hallway of the Budget desk, I assure you - Im in no car. Mario said something is wrong and that he will open a ticket on my behalf. That ticket will take up to 7 days to investigate. In the meantime Mario will attempt to rebook my reservation and do his best to get me close to my original confirmed booking rate. Mario could not rebook at my original rate. Apparently waiting for an hour and a half costs you more.To recap: Budget/Avis is a sham and they do not conduct business with integrity. They might make a mistake but that will cost you. They will realize a mistake but that will only open a ticket on their end. They will make you wait and offer nothing for your inconvenience. Budget is just as bad as the reviews demonstrate.Solution: ENTERPRISE, HERTZ, or DOLLAR or any other rental car company.UPDATE: It has been almost a week (6 days as of this update) later and Budget is still holding $400.00 on my credit card. I received no rental car, I signed no paperwork, and was actually told my reservation was canceled. Why are you holding any money at all? We had no business transaction!I already called my credit card to open a fraud investigation.The below canned copy and paste response is exactly how they do business. That number has already been called twice.

This should be a 0 star review. The concept og customer service does not exist at this location. We booked online got a confirmation#, called to double check and were treated very hostily. The person said that the size we reserved was not available and we would have to pay for an upgrade. We contacted corporate customer service and were told they would reimburse us for the upcharge. We drove from Madison to get the car and the person closed the store and wont be back for 2 hours. This is ridiculous

I am still very disturbed by my experience with Budget Rental Agency. This was my first rental experience and probably my last. When myself and my husband arrived at Budget to pick up our rental (The morning of our vacation) We were told that we could not rent with Budget because, we didn’t have a Major credit card with a high enough limit or good enough credit to rent using my debit. We were also then told about a $200.00 deposit that no one mentioned prior to this day. I was furious that NO ONE had made me aware of this prior to me attempting to pick up our vehicle and being desperate I asked if I could use cash and was told no. The lady working that morning was very rude and 10 minutes late opening the shop. She had no remorse or care that my family was now not going to be able to go on vacation and that I had 3 kids sitting at home with their bags packed etc. One of which was my exchange student from Spain who had been most excited about see more of the United States during her 4 week visit.When I asked why no one had mentioned this to me she just carelessly said its in the terms and conditions. I said β€œYou mean the ones I sign when I come to pick up the car”???? We tried other places and was told the same thing. The reason we wanted a rental was for space, wear and tear and our personal vehicle was not in the best shape to travel. We were out of options and decided to take our vehicle and cram everyone in there for the 19 hour drive but when we took it in to have it looked at we found that it was not safe to take without changing all four tires and we had an oil leak. The cost to repair was more then the car rental we budgeted for. So we thought we would pay the money, get it fixed and just shorten our trip a couple of days (if we could cancel our hotel without being charged). However, because it was a Saturday we were told by all the places we called that no one could do the work on our car till Monday. We were supposed to check into our hotel on Monday and would not be there now until Tuesday or Wednesday. My children were so disappointed and my heart was broken for them. We ended up taking our own vehicle and leaving Tuesday morning. I could not cancel my hotel so we paid for 1 day of hotel even though we couldn’t use it also, we had originally planned a very nice leisurely drive to Florida with several stops at some cave tours etc. That did not happen and because of now having less cash I had to shorten my trip by 2 days and luckily got out of having to pay those two days of hotel cancellation. Which were supposed to be the 2 days I spent with my Mother and my Sister and her 5 kids. Very disappointing all the way around. I rest all of this on your companies shoulders because I called and spoke to people at that office several times prior to making a reservation with many different questions (unfortunately not the right ones) and none of these things were mentioned to me ever. I also spoke with several people at the 800 number for Budget. I plan to tell everyone I know about this horrible situation your company put me in. I have already told several friends and family and the funny thing is Most of them Have never heard of such things. My mom has a friend who travels all the time using rental cars. She has bad credit and no credit cards. She uses her debit and has never had anyone tell her she cant. Take what you want from my review...I hope this helps someone.

These guys are really incompetent- I had a rental booked for over a month in advance through Costco Travel and had to pick up a car at 7:00 am 7/22 - the location called me on 7/21 at 4:45 pm and told me there was no car, they were closing for the day (even though their official close time was 6 PM) - when I asked for help in locating another car from one of their other locations, they did not help me and basically told me in not so many words that I was SOL and they could and would not do anything for me. Staff was rude and unhelpful and have no concept of customer service
