The Payless counter at Atlanta was closed, forcing us to go to Avis, where it was redirected. A two hour plus wait for a vehicle in a long long line full of frustrated travelers, and Avis barely found the reservation we made. The attendant was frustrated too, and sped through the reservation, talking about adding additional items and insurance which I chose not to use. If youre a good driver, its a gimmick. You dont need it.The vehicle they initially offered us wasnt the same as the reservation but we chose to pay $15 extra for a nicer Mazda. The vehicle was fine but clunky as far as the entertainment system. Not your fault on that end. It got good gas mileage and drove very nice.Returning the vehicle resulted again in Avis initially having trouble pulling it up. Returning was no issue after they found the reservation. Nobody tells you you can leave the keys in the car.Memphis systems didnt have nearly the issue Atlanta did.I suggest staying away from Avis and Hertz in Atlanta during busy holiday travel unless you want to wait in long lines with no guarantee you get a vehicle.Weve never struggled to get a vehicle with any carrier as much as we did this trip.

When I arrived in Atlanta to pick up my car from Payless car rental I was redirected by a hand written posted sign to go to the Avis car rental center. So, I followed instructions and went to Avis. I had to wait in line for two hours before I finally reached the front. Then I was informed that I had to rent a vehicle from Avis. I will never use Payless again because of the lack of dependability. After a long flight I would expect for me vehicle to be ready. Not redirected without reason to a two hour wait with another company. I did not receive a courtesy email or call.

When I picked up my reservation at the airport, there was no one working at the Payless counter. I waited in line for over an hour to pick up a vehicle from the AVIS counter. Avis provided me with a clean vehicle, and a full tank of gas. That was the best part of my experience. They had the nerve to charge me a late fee when I returned my vehicle before the hour that I picked it up. I should have only been charged the daily rate. Another person in our party had an even worse experience at Harford the following day. I have never had such a poor experience with renting a vehicle. I hope Payless is hiring. On the bright side, that 2021 Camry from Avis was super nice!

The car i rented was available. It was replaced with a so called upgrade and I was charged more money. Also my account was hit with a $200 up charge, which I want back. I called in and got no help. Get people who can speak English!!!! Returned the car. No one there. Had to take it to Alison. Terrible experience.

For starters, when I arrived to the payless counter their was neone thier, just a sign stating to go upstairs to avis, and thats where its started to go down hill from this point, waiting time was more than 45 min, not a long line may I add, the car that was given to me was dirty had smudge on front and rear window making it difficult to drive at night so I had to wash the vehicle inside and out extra 30 bucks, drive wise the car needs alignment and balancing, their was a grind sound evertime I turned the car, had to turn off the lane assistant because it was not working properly.

Spend the extra money and rent with someone else. This company goes out of that way to charge you for miscellaneous stuff and will charge your account well after your rental date without your knowledge. The car I got had damage from the previous driver and I was charged, although I let them know about that damages. They DO NOT INSPECT THEIR VEHICLES!!!! And If you don’t you will be left with that charges. Customer service was not helpful at all and quick to place the charges on my account!! Do yourself a favor and go with a more reputable company. I did not get the vehicle I selected and also for that price I ended up being charged should have had a luxury rental! Don’t do it don’t do it don’t do it!!!! You will regret it! I promise you! And had I read the reviews to begin with I would have saved myself the hassle!!!!!

We got to Alamo Rental after 06/30/21 11pm closing time however the nice lady at Enterprise took our reservation and honored our price and itinerary from Alamo and the prices that night of 06/30/21 so we were able to get on the road by 12:00 midnight that Tuesday night thanks for Enterprise employee...

I have a 1 month old baby I rented the car seat from you guys infant rear-facing and it didnt have no secure boxes had to go to Walmart to purchase one, went to another Avis and they said they was privately owned and I couldnt exchange the car seat, I have pictures and when i was having me to return it you had to go to Avis and Avis didnt want to check me out very upset

One of the absolute worst experiences I have ever had renting a vehicle. I traveled in from California to Atlanta had my reservation and booking confirmed before I made trip 2 months in advance. I arrived at the Atlanta airport location after plane landed at 7:30pm. I was shuttled over to the car rental location and there wasnt a agent in sight for 20 minutes. This is very important because the location closes at 9pm and I needed the rental to continue traveling. So I called the customer service number and was told that they did not have any more vehicles available and there wasnt anything they could do. This enraged me so much that I couldnt even talk. I explained my situation that I had travelled from California to Atlanta and I couldnt wait until the morning to receive a vehicle. He then calledsister companies and they were out of vehicles as well. Again the agent wasnt knowledgeable about helping guest and accommodating my situation. I told him my hotel was already booked (hour south of Atlanta) and I couldnt check into my hotel room as a result of the inconvenience of not having a vehicle to rent. I asked did they offered vouchers or anything that would allow me to make my other reservations. This is where he made me see red!!! He said I have helped you as much as I can, Ive called other companies and they are out of vehicles and sorry you cannot make your hotel reservation and vehicles wont be ready until after 3pm the next day. Mind you Im stuck at Atlanta airport!

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!!!!!I rented a car from the location at 2200 Rental Car Center Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30337 on July 3rd 2020 and dropped off on July 5th 2020. As stated in my reservation. I was advised the total amount would be $363.44 but I was overcharged nearly $600.00.They stated I had the car 6 days even though I only had it two days. I purchased a 3day parking pass to leave my car there at the airport parking lot. And then the day I returned the rental, I purchased an additional 1hr parking pass to transport my belongings from the rental to my personal vehicle. I then walked into the location and handed the keys over to a gentleman in his late 20s with dreads representative on the evening of July 5th. I have been going back and forth with them since July. They have proof of me entering the airport in the rental. And leaving in my vehicle. They clearly didnt enter the information into the system correct before handing the keys over to someone else. They should be able to see me coming in and leaving. Also they should see who dropped the vehicle off a few days later. Which clearly wasnt me. This has been beyond stressful to say the least! I have reached out to your customer service department numerous times. Each time I was told they would look into it.

Getting the vehicle was the hardest thing about this situation. There are no signs or labels specifying where to pick up the car in the car center. All signs pointed to the parking structure. I went all the way to the parking structure with all of my luggage found no counter. After walking for a few minutes another car rental company informed old that AVIS also rents for Payless. I went to AVIS in the parking structure and after waiting on line for 30 minutes I was sent inside to the AVIS counters. 1 hour into my search, I went back to the rental counter and waited another hour only to find out that 1 person was processing Payless. I was made to wait with AVIS clients for nothing, there was no line for her set up. A simple $6 sign from Staples and a tape on the floor can fix this entire issue. There was no communication at the airport, no signs and no customer service to tell you where to get your vehicle. The process in total took 2 hours with all my luggage which made it an even worse experience. The counter employee had outdated equipment and tried printing the documents and the paper kept jamming and finally used someone elses printer. I dont see why people should not have to become a detectives to figure out how to pick up a over priced car? The instructions for this airport pick up should be very clear in the email. Terrible experience and would never recommend anyone to rent from Payless in Atlanta. The car was fine, service was terrible.

When returning the vehicle I was charged an additional $106.00 for gas when I returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas. The staff that checked the car in was rude and blamed the issue on the device used to check the car in. I believe that its a scam because the staff knows that people have to make their flights and probably wont fight for their money. I was also charged additional because I was told that if the amount paid is below $200.00 the system automatically changes the card $200.00. Even though the the cost of the car was only about $135.00. Ridiculous!! Ripoff!!

The clerk was friendly there was no wait the process was quick the return the car information was given directions given to go and get the car Returning the car at the end of my requested day was a breeze I will return to Payless ( The rate per day was even good ) The best part was the midsize car requested they had ran out of and at no extra cost I was upgraded to a SUV Make reservation online or when u book a Southwest flight and sign up as a reward member because your rates are discounted

Cincinnati Airport location was worse experience Ive ever had renting a car. Waited in line for over an hour to get to counter and another 30 minutes to secure a car. They only had one attendant working the counter on a holiday weekend. Attendant was working as fast as she could and kept her composure but it was unfair to her and customers. Poor planning on part of Payless. Ill never use them again

I was in a bind with a dead vehicle and it was after hours, so everything except the Atlanta airport was closed. I went online and reserved, got an Uber over to the airport and picked up my car as smoothly as could be. Due to issues with repairs I had to extend for three days, then an additional day. Payless made this as painless as possible. I realize there is a higher tax on airport rentals, but it was a matter of convenience and Payless, and the ladies that work there, were AWESOME.

I was able to rent the car. No email confirmation. Scary. Payless has no booth at ATL airport. No rep/counter in the main car rental center section. The garage had no one there to help. So we went back upstairs to the main office someone told us that Avis would help us Avis gave us the keys to the car and that was it. Upon return the same situation Payless is faceless. my husband called and found out they are operating out of Mexico. That’s fine, send someone up to America preferably Atlanta airport!

Hate to leave a bad review, but want to help people avoid a bad situation. We went to the Payless counter and were told to go to Avis. Waited in line for 1.5 hours (not an exaggeration) only to be told that Payless customers should form a separate line. We were almost to the front of the Avis line by that point, but then ended up at the end of the Payless line because people jumped in front of us. I finally ended up cancelling my reservation from my phone and just Ubering to my final destination (2 hours away). I ignored the reviews and thought I would be fine... do not make my same mistake! Pay extra for a reliable company.

Your service was terrible. I was treated horribly by your service desk woman, who kept trelling me I didn’t ha e reservations and I didn’t prepay. She didn’t want to do her job . I basically had to pull out all the reservations and prepay forms to finally get her to start working. Also your fill up within five miles of the biggest airport in America rule is disgusting. It is extremely hard to try and find a gas station that close to the Atlanta airport.

Run from this place, DO NOT RENT FROM PAYLESS YOU WILL REGRET IT... When I arrived to pick up my rental the sign directed us to Avis car rental and I literally waited in line for over 2hrs. The car was perfect but upon returning the vehicle again a sign directed us to Avis. The guy at Avis took my information and stated once a Payless representative arrives I will have them close you out. Well days later I never received a receipt and I kept calling and they informed me it takes 48hrs to get a receipt. Friday came and I was becoming upset so I called again and the young man informed me that not only have they not closed me out but they were still charging me yet the vehicle had already been rerented to someone else. He informed me he has to process a refund and I should have the receipt shortly. If it wasnt for me bugging them they would have continued to charge my card... Horrible customer service!

I checked in my vehicle a day earlier and no one at the return site Therefore I gave the key to a reservation clerk who promised to close the car out. I have created two tickets regarding this and still have not heard back about whether the vehicle is closed out. For all I know, someone else is driving the vehicle under my name. I feel this is sloppy management. The website and phone system was poor and not user friendly.

Rented a car for days later returned it made another reservation and they refuse to rent to us because were Georgia residents will the debit card without proof of residency because our House burn down and we have to live in a hotel until we get a new one meanwhile both vehicles are we on needed repairs so we need a rental car for the time being they took her money and have yet to return it Ive never been so disrespected buy member of the staff but the manager at she claimed to be or I should say he claimed to be its hard to tell except in his case it was more than clear but thats neither here nor there fact of the matter is super rude and let the strength of the airport after they took our money I wouldnt recommend this place to nobody scam

Waited in line 1 hour & 30 min, with a reservation. Countertop workers calling to customers who wants a minivan? Was told to go to C24, Ford Fusion. Another person got into the car & drove off. A diff counter person loudly said get in line!Told her weve been in the line. She said go to your person, like we should of known that? I was fearful to cut in front of all these people? And our original person was gone. Then that person snatched the original papers out of our hands & stomped off. Then our original person came back & took over after the two of them got into it. We walked away with no choice but a minivan. I do not do well in big vehicles. I did not see one happy person there, including us. All were so stressed, tired & it was getting worse. Then we had to drive off in rush hour traffic at 5:30 . We were so late to our destination. This is my first visit to Georgia.

I was quoted for a 4 door rental online and once I appeared to pick up rental I was told only a 2 door rental was available. I was told my only option was to either go with a 2 door in which I had older passengers who were disable and would not be able to enter and exit the rental so easily. So our only option was to go to the next size vehicle in which was way more money for 5 days. I just feel like if I was quoted for one price I should not be greeted with a higher price rental. This would the reason I would not let any of my family and friends rent from this company. The staff was very friendly but your advertising is very misleading.

I called because I was running late due to an accident and bad weather and explained that to the rep. Which state she noted my contract. And when arriving at the airport the rep at tje preferred desk stat I needed to show her proof that they were an accident on the road and that there were bad weather. When I asked her wjat3 proof she needs she because the news I pulled up online and youtube was not sufficient enough. I feel discrimination played a big role in this whole experience. Im very disappointed.

My family and I traveled to San Antonio Texas earlier this month, and had reserved a car through a different company. Once we got the the counter, we were given a different rate than what was originally given when reserving the rental online. Kaye with Avis said she would try to help us obtain a rental car for our week long visit in San Antonio. She was able to pair us with a perfect car for our family of 5 through their sister company, Payless Car Rental. Kaye was very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I will for sure be returning to Avis/Payless. Thank you so much for stepping in and stepping UP!! WONDERFUL customer service!

The associate assistant Named Ryan made a big contract mistake. When I saw the mistake ( our rental was for a week! Jan 22-Jan 29 and the contract in paper was to Jan 28), he said he changed/corrected the missing day mistake in the computer ( computer was facing him and not me)to Jan 29. Then he make the changes manually to my paper contract signed and dated. He didn’t print a new contract with the actual change. So we left with the car with a manually change contract signed by the rental clerk. Then on Jan 29 we had to leave the keys on a drop box, all other rental cars had personnel helping in the morning. If we would of had help in the morning and a receipt ( like we always get in other rentals) we would of noticed that the Manually changes that Mr. Rian apparently did on Jan 22 did not happened and we were charged and extra day plus late fees. The worse part is that Payless will not allowed me to speak with the employee (Ryan) and just let me do a phone complaint( headquarters)that do not allowed me to provide any details about the fixed signed contract by the Rent a car clerk. So we may loose 90 dollars on a employee mistake and more by not making a new contract the way he should had. Do not rent at Payless. I had to even go pick up the car at Avis 🤦🏻‍♂️.

We were surprised that the rental had not been washed . I guess that rentals with dings are inevitable, but there were unusual ones on the roof, the inspection form was not offered so we had to ask for one to report the damages found on the rental. The interior seemed to be clean though. Just was not our best experience with a rental. We will definitely rent here again because the check in representative was personable and very professional.

Don’t even go with them. The worst car rental company. Pay few extra dollars and go with a better company. I had a reservation and there was no one at the counter to help me.One lady came and said we do not have cars and the people at the counter have already left for the day. I went with Hertz who had cars at the time and I made a reservation right away. Going with a better rental car company is definitely worth than the amount of headache you get with Payless rental company. I looked at their reviews after I had made the reservation with Payless. I was charged $180 on my credit card. I called customer service and told them to refund me the money. The guy said 3-5 business days I should receive a refund and it took more than 1 month to receive the refund and I had called the customer service thrice, the 3rd customer service person initiated the refund although the first 2 said they had.

I had a reservation for 12 on the 8th of August. We were instructed to go to Avis to rent the vehicle, upon arrival to Avis, there were over 20 people in line and 2 employees working. One of the employees was kind enough to let us know they had several call ins and to be patient and also that they are running low on vehicles. This is absolutely horrible customer service. Waiting is an expectation, especially at the airport but Ive been waiting over 20 minutes and there are still about 15 customers in front of me. I wai tre waited almost two hours and one I finally reached the front counter I had to wait another 10 minutes for another rep because the avis rep wasnt able to fulfill my reservation because I rented through Payless. I also reserved a a midsize vehicle and was given a standard size vehicle. I asked another employee if the standard was bigger than the midsize and was told no, that the midsize was bigger. I was charged the same amount for the standard size vehicle and was also told that my AAA discount could not be added at the counter, that I should have added when I booked online. This basically delayed our entire day.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! I reserved a car in Salt Lake City from Payless online through Travelocity. I declined the optional loss damage coverage as I always do when I made the reservation but was charged anyway. I contacted Payless costumer service and they were completely unhelpful. I was in an big hurry when I picked up the vehicle at the Salt Lake City airport as I was rushing to see my grandmother who was literally on her death bed. They must have slipped the optional coverage in when I was signing for the car because I ALWAYS decline the coverage and would not have agreed to it. Now I have to eat the $225 loss because I wasnt paying attention to the details when I picked up the car due to my state of mind. Needless to say, I will never even consider renting from this agency again!

I rented two cars from Alamo as my business trip was extended for another week . I couldnt find any car with a reasonable price with Alamo and no cars with Enterprise, Sixth or else...A nice lady called me when I skipped by Payless to National rental desk. I explaining to her that I am from abroad and I need any car for a week, she gave me the best deal Ive ever had. A sport SUV at a very good rate. Im very glad and lucky to come across this rental company. I highly recommend despite some negative comments Ive read.

If you book a car with this company, and arrive from your flight ... you can expect that there will be no cars available and that you will have to wait hours. Avoid at all costs. Customer service reps are more interested in playing on their phones than providing assistance.

I will never book with payless again nor will I recommend it to friends. Although I had a reservation and had paid ahead of time, it took over an hour and a half to get my rental. The associate was frustrated and stressed and it’s clear the company does not care about their employees or customers. This led me to be late to my event. Horrible service overall.

This doesn’t even deserve one star. We had an 11:00 reservation and got to the counter at 11 and they told us it was a minimum of an hour wait for a car. The other folks around said they had been waiting for hours. I called customer service twice and they said they couldn’t do anything for us and then hung up on me. Not to mention the awful woman working at the counter was one of the rudest employees I’ve ever crossed. We are now close to missing a wedding we came in town for.

I was in a terribly tight spot and there were no cars available from any agency at the Atlanta airport due to so many cancelled flights on Friday, April 19. Ryan saw my concern as was a true ‘God Send’. As an HR professional (Chief Human Resources Officer) for over 25 years I know how challenging the war to get talent is. Ryan is world class and my feedback would be to hire as many as you can just like him. Because of him you now have a customer for life and one that will tell everyone to use your company.

I always have a good experience here. I came here initially after being turned away from another company. This was after my car was totaled but the insurance stopped paying for a rental so I was forced to get my own. The service was excellent. They were friendly and seemed to move fast. Now, theyre the only company that I use. As far as I know, all companies hold money on your card. The amounts may vary but its just a temporary hold technically. Ive even had my rental upgraded before (but I think they were just out of compact cars). I still associated it. The lines can get long here, though. That would be my only complaint. But once youre at the desk, they work quick. I usually arrive 30 minutes or so before my reservation.

First I was forced to upgrade for additional 10 per day, because they did not have the car I reserved and was told it would be a 3 to 4 hour wait for. Secondly the car reaked of marijuana, I let the attendant know before I left the lot, they sprayed air freshener. Which was only a temporary fix. I could not leave any of my belongings or take passengers on car the smell was so bad. I called and filed a report as well as documenting at rental place. Very dissatisfied.

We had a reservation for a car rental for the weekend and when we go to the Payless stand, a man apathetically says it will be a 4 hour wait for a car and that 44 people are before us when they do get a car. I have never heard of such an unprofessional company and if you truly need a car, you cannot depend on this company that they will have them. Do not waste your time or money on this place.

Very very long line, super slow service, only one person working. After waiting for at least 30 minutes, get to the window and find out I cannot pick up my reservation without a bank statement because Im local. I dont carry those around with me and dont have access on my phone so I ended up having to go with Alamo, and they were fast and much simpler.

My experience at the counter (3/15 7:00 pm) was the best ever! I am a frequent car renter and I must say that Sayah (sorry for the incorrect spelling) helped me with everything in the most efficient and timely manner. Aside from handling my rental agreement perfectly she actually engaged in an amazing conversation with my daughter making our transaction much more personable. One word, LISA. How can a national company have such a disrespectful human being be a face of leadership. I was over charged by $150 and the most infuriating part was that Lisa, manager of your Atlanta airport store, was unable to properly articulate what ANY of the additional charges where for. Her response: “I don’t know know what an energy charge is.” I told her that I would not be doing any additional business with Payless. Once again Lisa’s award winning response was “I don’t care, people say that all the time. We already charged your card, good luck getting it back.”

Picking up the vehicle the ladies were great and helpful. But I had to refill that tank 5 times but the kicker is your associates are thieves. I dropped off the vehicle about 6 minutes came back because I left my wife perfume. Check the same vehicle for it and it was gone. 6 minutes, THIEVES, THIEVES!!!!!!

Horrible experience. got to the counter and was told that there were no cars. said it would be about 1 1/2 hours before they had even one for me to rent. went back and asked if they could make sure i would have car in about 1 1/2 hours - they could guarantee that i would have a reservation / car.was then told that there would not be a car period and he admitted that he had lied to me. whatever you do - dont rent from this company - absolutely horrible experience. not worth even one star

Their notice to clients regarding their local rental policy is horrific, I sat and read the long detailed listed rental policy before showing up and saw nothing of a ridiculous request for things like Utility Bills. Counter person said you have to click on a link, and there are SIX MORE PAGES to read, of course the was no link. Its ok though, I didnt sit and argue, I just took my money elsewhere, Thrifty happily took care of me.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE!!1.) They charged me $204 for 4 days but I only will had it for 3 days. Which i realized after I saw my contract and already got the car. They refused to let me keep the car for the 4 FULL days they CHARGED me for. They wanted me to pay more. How????2.) The customer services is a JOKE.3.) The are clearly not cheap! $204 for 3 days basically, even though it’s suppose to be 4.It was my first time renting a car, now that I know better, I’ll do better. We reserved a full size pick up truck to travel to Oklahoma and needed the bed space and interior room. On arrival, the representative infotmed us that the only truvk available was a mid size Nissan Frontier. After not being able to locate what we reserved we were forced to settle for the smaller rental. We were very cramped in the vehicle and extremely uncomfortable without the required interior space. We were also not able to transport all of the items planned to take to family as planned. Instead of making the drive straight, we were forced to stop and stay in a hotel due to lack of leg space on the trip there and back. This cost us unplanned expenses and 2 additional days of rental due to my wife having been in a severe accident 2 years ago and needing to stretch more. We were also very fearful due to not doing a vehicle walk for damage which was present nor offered one when returning.

We reserved and paid for our car days prior to pick-up. Upon arrival after traveling all day we’re informed “we don’t have any more cars, please wait in line.” There’s a line of 12 people that aren’t informed on refund policies, if there’s a chance we’ll get a vehicle tonight, or given any insight into how this happened. This is extremely unprofessional and definitely shows that they don’t value their customers.

I had to come back twice to the airport just to get the rental car, then all they had was a VW Beetle. And the trunk keep getting stuck, the attendant had to help me open it so I could put my luggage in. It was not a good experience, but I will give them a 7 because the outside attendant was polite, but the inside customer service was awful.

- the guy at the counter, Ryan I think, was friendly and helpful.- it was cheap!- the car smelled like smoke. We were going to a viewing at a church and really didnt want to smell like that. Drove with the windows open for a while.- the car also had no windshield wiper fluid, or the pump didnt work.- something seemed to be messed up with the front radar sensor of the car. Not that I needed front radar. But they should maintain their vehicles better, hence two stars off. (a 3-star review still helps their average at this point...)

I just picked up my car from this Payless location and received excellent customer service! I was skeptical due the awful reviews so I was expecting the worse. However Ryan was extremely polite, helpful, and accommodating. The car is clean and the young lady who gave me the keys the the car helped me with the door and was SUPER efficient getting me in and out. I will return to this location in the future.

The car smelled of smoke, the tire tracking light was on the entire time i had the rental, there were burn marks and smoke stains in the roof of the car. Check in was horrible.

Car was not what I expected. License plate in the back window, debt on the back door drivers side, piece under the passenger seat by the foot kept falling off. Could not pick any better selection of a car
