Wonderful salon in old town Alexandria! Kate is always so friendly, kind and always makes me feel better about myself! She was able to take my very dry damaged hair and restore life into it with a wonderful hair treatment and healthy blond highlights. I love this salon so much because I can get my hair and nails done all in one place, it’s so clean and they truly try to help me better my beauty treatment. I left my appointment this afternoon feeling healthy and confident about my hair color and no more dry damaged hair! Their hours are great and she always works with you to provide you with options to feel more self confident and beautiful. This is a wonderful and relaxing salon to treat yourself too and I promise you will feel great after a visit here!!

Ive been a regular customer for a number of years, patronizing prior to Kates purchase of the salon. I have always been happy with my nails, the service and the cleanliness of the salon. I believe it is a good value and am so happy to be back after a long break due to Covid. I highly recommend Salon Kate.

From Switzerland, I spend some vacation in the Washington DC area and incidentally passed in front of Kate Salon and Spa. The salon looked great to me, I just entered, the place was busy, I had to wait for a wail. Then the owner Kate took care of me. First she served me an excellent Nespresso cup of coffee. After that I had a pedicure, a manicure and finally an haircut.I never had such a good treatment. Additionally, the salon was perfectly clean, Unfortunately, I leave too far away to go regularly there, but I am sure I’ll go there if I visit again the Washington DC area and Alexandria in particular..Don’t hesitate to enjoy the conviviality and the good service of Kate Salon and Spa.Claude W.

Do NOT get your hair done here. Unprofessional from start to finish and she botched my hair.She was 30 min late to start my appointment.I told her what I wanted and showed pictures. She started out doing the wrong thing and I had to correct her. She put about 12-15 foils in my hair total of just straight bleach. The pieces turned out brassy/ orange when everything was said and done. I asked for a light brown. She blamed me for not picking the right color.She then cut my hair. This was fine.But then charged me 245 dollars for hardly any service and I told her how unhappy I was the entire time. She told me my hair cut was 85. That’s OUTRAGEOUS. She’s a scam artist and knows it. I’m completely dissatisfied and left with anxiety about my orange hair. I wanted a partial refund as I felt this is unacceptable for what was done to my hair.

Salon Kate is an amazing salon. Kate is expert at color and cut. Best I’ve had in years. Recently had her micro blade my brows. They’re perfect.

Always top notch service and I swear my pedicures from here last longer than anywhere else around. The last time I was there, I smudged my nail 5 minutes after leaving and they were so kind about fixing it right away. Make an appointment instead of a walk-in

Literally will not respond to emails, calls, text etc to set up an appointment. Clearly they have all the business they need so if you are a prospective client, don’t bother. They are not taking new clients apparently….

I have been going here since it was originally Salon NY. Service is always great and professional. It is a boutique style: so very intimate ambiance and personalized service. The way self care services should be!

A pretty and clean salon. Very nice massage chairs for pedicures also. First time here. Do my toes look better, yes! Do they feel better, no! Although Donna was nice, she didn’t properly cut the sides of my large toe nails and they hurt less than one week after my appointment. They are also uneven. The right nail was left longer then the left. Also, my appt was at 11:30am and 40 minutes long and when another customer came in at noon, Donna moved to start her toes instead of finishing up with mine. In my opinion, 40 minutes is NOT enough time to complete a proper pedicure and this would explain my results.

Salon Kate is the only place I go. Everyone there is so friendly, the interior itself is so calm and relaxing. Kate has suggested a few beauty updates for my nails and feet and I am so happy I took her advice. My nails always look amazing and I always leave feeling relaxed. The place is upscale and you can feel the difference compared to other salons, absolutely love this place.

I really enjoyed my experience here! I called almost near closing and Kate was so sweet to take me in. She was warm, personable, and highly professional. Kates shop was nicely decorated and super clean! I got a dip powder manicure for the first time and let me tell ya, its gorgeous...doesnt even feel like theres multiple layers of pigmented acrylic powder on my nails. Kate has a new customer and Im going to make sure I tell all my coworkers about this salon. 💜

I, like most of us have not been to a salon in months due to covid-19. I was looking for a salon close to my home and work. My hair was grown out frizzy and uneven when I got to Salon Kate. She greeted me at the door immediately gave me hand sanitizer and took my temperature. I was walked over to a very clean and private area to begin my consult and hair dying and cutting process. All of the stylist wore masks and were visibly cleaning the salon continuously. Kate the owner did my hairshe was very professional and asked many questions to make sure togto get my desired style. The Opalex products that she uses are also phenomenal. I purchased a hair mask for continuing to care for my hair until my next visit.

Visited here last week for the first time (same day appointment) and received great service from Kate and her team. During the haircut itself, Kate was very patient and checked with me multiple times for my feedback/preferences. I will definitely return again.

I love this place!! I went down to alexandria for a baby shower and decided to get my nails done and this place was close. Great prices and wonderful nails. They even added extra sparkle on my nails for free! Not before complements on my nail shape as well. Overall a great experience!

I got a gel manicure for the first time at Salon Kate and LOVED the atmosphere. The ladies were soooo sweet and polite. I asked for a specific design that had jewels and they didnt have exactly what I was looking for but they made it work and made my nails look so pretty!

Friendly staff but they recently raised their prices without informing the clientele properly. I went to get my eyebrows done. Two weeks ago it was $10, now it jumped to $20. The person who did my eyebrows did not do a good job either and I left very disappointed and feeling ripped off.

North Old Town: this is the BEST place to get your nails done. Kate & her staff are perfectionists. Its next to Perks.

Ive got a new stylist! Kate takes the time to find out what the customer wants. My hair was a mess from home-coloring. She worked her magic and now it looks great. Im going back for mani-pedi very soon.

Far from impressive. I was staying at the hotel right across the street and was just hoping to get a pedicure. Staff was not rude or anything but far from what I would call friendly, barely saying but a few words to me. Pick color, how is the water , and oh you dont have cash (for tip)? to be exact. Everything else was silence. The young girl did my pedicure which was mediocre. Nothing special about this pedicure or experience at all I mean little pressure with the message etc. The big issue for me was when she began to paint my toes. The polish had lines in it and was so thick and not at all smooth. I asked could she make the big toes smooth Atleast and she began to paint over the one big toe (over the lumpy polish) and then tried to dab her finger in nail polish remove and rub it on my toenail to take a little spot of polish off which only actually left a light spot in my polish. She asked if it was ok but at this point I realized she didnt see why it looked bad and was just ready for the experience to be over. At checkout I found out that tips cant be left on cards which is crazy in 2016 but whatever. So they swiped my card a second time for the tip amount (I pray they dont charge me more since there was a charge limit listed). They werent rude or anything but to be in old towne Alexandria I expected a little more but then I understand why everytime e I walked by they were never packed with customers. Just to add this on as I observed a hair stylist while I was there since it is supposed to be a full service salon. I myself have a cosmetology license in the state of virginia and have been in the business over 10 years so I was confused as to why a stylist would be blow drying her clients hair with her fingers instead of at least using a vent brush. She ended up using a round brush later to finish the client off but that looked mediocre as well. Lastly, I observed the sanitation of the nail tools while in there and I didnt see any form of sterilization. After tools were used they were tossed back into plastic bins on the nail stations and OSHA regulations require that nail equipment be sanitized after every client. This tells me alot about this salon just with that. I would not recommed. Im sure you could find someone better not too far away. Again, I was only there because it was across the street from my hotel. Salon was tidy but the nail sanitation is a big selling point for me. Hope this helps.
