I love Healing Hands! Their exceptional customer service and outgoing/friendly staff are what we love most. We had gone through four different veterinarians with almost no hope of helping our dachshund. Dr. Thompson was very helpful and honest. She sparked hope in us again! We are very trusting that our dog is getting the best of help here at healing hands! You can see and feel the love the staff has for their job and the animals. Healing Hands has been the BEST vet hospital we’ve ever been too, and I don’t write reviews often. Starting when we first walked into the front door we knew our dog Apollo was going to be well taken care of. The front desk ladies were So kind, gentle and care individually for each pet! Susie, who brought us into our own room and inquired most questions, very compassionate. Listened to everything we were saying and gave us so many affordable options! Doctor Thompson who was our main vet is the best. She’s professional, educated, compassionate and truly cares about helping your fur baby. She was able to pin point exactly what was causing our dog so much pain, while another vet hospital we went to prior didn’t give him spend the time of day. Doctor Thompson is now Apollo’s primary doctor. He is now getting laser acupuncture to help relieve his neck pain! Thank you all for making our lives and our fur baby’s life so much easier!

The groomer Thea did a great job with my fur babies! They looked great and smelled great after their bath and haircut and are even shedding less! She was done in a timely manner too - highly recommend.

Very happy with the results my Dachshund is getting through acupuncture, laser and water therapy. My guy has IVDD and does experience flare-ups with his back and is in pain. These various therapies as well as medication makes him comfortable and his healing time is reduced. So happy I found this facility.

Our Yorkie spent one week in the boarding facilities. She must have enjoyed the new accommodations. She has high anxiety issues and normally loses weight in the kennel but this time she didn’t lose weight and was very well adjusted. We feel she received very good care and attention.

I have been taking my animals to Healing Hands for over 6 years, and every visit with Dr. Thompson has been outstanding. I think its wonderful that Dr. Thompson offers the holistic therapies she does and from my few experiences with her, she seems like a fine vet. This review is not about Dr. Thompsons abilities as a vet. It is to warn any low income pet owners to be very careful about missing appointments here. After a family emergency, I mixed up my appointment time, had to reschedule, and was charged $50 on top of the $400 I paid ahead of time for the service. The receptionist who informed me was not at all apologetic, which made a bad situation feel worse. I respect that this is a business, but I would hope that there would be a little leniency for a new client who drives over 20 miles to the clinic because they want to do all they can to for their dog to experience relief, and who missed the appointment for reasons outside of their control. For someone who does not have $50 to throw away, the loss of money really hurts. I understand that time is money, this is the policy, and it was my mistake, but again, a $50 fee is a lot of money to some. So this review is just to warn those who cannot afford $50 cancellation fees that the policy is taken very seriously, no matter your personal circumstances. Healing Hands services seem great, but I dont think this clinic is ideal for people who cant afford $50 mistakes.

Its so hard finding a good, consistent, and caring veterinary hospital. I have been to multiple places and always passed by this place, so glad I finally gave them a chance. Dr. Thompson and her team are amazing! They are consistently professional, kind, and caring towards our babies.Whenever one of our cats likes to surprise us with a sudden emergency, Healing Hands always manages to squeeze us into their busy schedule. They even work with our busy schedules as well. When we couldnt drop one of our cats off the next morning, they kept him overnight and didnt charge us which was very generous of them. Going to the vet is usually stressful, but Im glad we found a place with such good and kind people that I know will take great care of them. I greatly appreciate everything they have done for us and our cats, thank you!

Spoke to the receptionist earlier today about physical therapy for one of my pets. Was just trying to get rough estimate of what it may cost for the physical therapy whether it be under water treatment range of motion or anyting and was told she doesnt know maybe a couple hundred dollars. That doesnt tell me anything or much at all if I should look elsewhere for a different rehab solution or maybe try to speak to somebody else. But Im sure they have breakdowns of what each rehab station or exercise make Austin, or how much a package would run the patients based off of six sessions twice a week or what not. Not very helpful and trying to get rehab for my pet as soon as possible instead of something as quickly as possible for a tplo surgery recovery.

I was looking into hydrotherapy for my pup until I read these reviews. No one employee in this world is perfect, nor is any business. And from what I read this clinics owner takes zero responsibly for their employees actions and puts their customers on blast instead of handling the feedback, right or wrong, with grace. Let those few customers be mad, address as needed, then move on. Everything else is just juvenile.

We were so happy for Molly to finally be groomed and Thea did a remarkable job. I loved the reception staff and the new building, and appreciated, as usual, Dr. Thomsons impeccable skills. Molly looks so nice and smooth now and is so soft. Thank you all very much.

Poor communication among staff, poor scheduling procedures and non-existant follow-ups are the norm for this location. I left my dog in their care for a week after making arrangments for a minor procedure to be perfomed. When I picked her up, I asked about the procedure and they could not verify whether it had been performed. Later they called me back and asked me to bring her back in because they discovered the procedure was never performed. I was frustrated because I left my dog with them for a week and called THREE TIMES to remind them about the arrnagments for the procedure. When I asked to speak to someone about my concerns, they refused to call me back. Eventually they sent me an email telling me to find another vet if I was dissatisfied.Some other customers have noted similar concerns about lack of communication, poor customer service and poor responsiveness...now I believe them. Beware. Due to frequent moves, I have used over 10 different vets in the past 15 years. This is the first and only one who has ever disatisfied me....it takes a lot, but they are truly disappointing.

WOW! I am not even sure why I even thought about going back to this vet. Maybe because it was convenient and we had been there before. Mistake! VERY RUDE for the 2nd and last time. I got word from my office on Friday that we had 2 confirmed Covid cases and I was to work from home and go into quarantine for 14 days. I received a confirmation text on Saturday from the vet to confirm my appt. and I replied CANCEL. Honestly, the receptionist told me that they were booked until the following Friday, but to ahead and drop Lima off between 8-9 Monday and they would TRY and see her between appts bc she was licking her foot. She even said that they could not guarantee that Lima would be seen and that they would call me. I called Monday morning to reschedule for a regular appt. at a later date and was put on hold for 15 mins. and then I was given the option to leave a VM which I did. They called me back not even knowing that I canceled on Saturday through the text and didnt even know that I left a voicemail. She was more concerned about taking the $50.00 cancellation fee. What appt. did I have? The between 8-9 drop off and maybe we will be able to see your dog appt.? Thats ridiculous! I do not feel that I was being charged fairly. I completely understand having a cancelation policy, but this isnt right. I will NOT be going back there again.

Dr. Thompson is the best. She spent the time with me to help me understand how I could help my fur baby with her issues. From medications available and books on the subject. We decided together on the best course of action. I would recommend this veterinarian to anyone needing an excellent, reliable vet.

I just moved to the local area when my dog got an upper respiratory infection. I called several vet clinics and none of them had any availability to see my pet for weeks, or they simply would not see new clients. I called this clinic and the receptionist was very helpful as I was stressed out trying to get my dog seen as soon as possible. She was able to squeeze me in the same day and I was able to get my dog seen and some medicine. The staff was friendly and dr was very helpful!

The whole team is amazing. They took such good care of Nala after extensive surgery after being hit by a car before New Years. Her pelvis was shattered and she needed so much rehab to be able to walk again. The whole staff took such good care of her, and she loved them as well. We watched her progress on socially-distanced visits throughout her stay, and her progress was spectacular. Everyone loved on her, and you could tell by her talkativeness that she was comfortable and cared for. I highly recommend them, while hoping we dont ever need their services again. But if we do, they have our unqualified approval!

I had my dog tested 3 different ways at another vet and they couldnt figure out what was clearly obvious visually. I came here and an under an hour the vet told me exactly what I already knew but the other vets would not be able to figure out for some reason seems to me that they were just wasting my money anywhere else.I like the variety of options of treatment that are given here it really creates a very customizable comfortable experience for me and my dog and I actually have trust in these people now seeing as how I already knew what was wrong with my dog before I took her in but the fact that they verified it means that theyre actually doing their jobs.I would highly recommend this place to anybody seeing as how the payment is the same here as a couple other places that Ive been at.

I’ve recently had the pleasure of sending my dog to rehab therapy after surgery here. I must say even during a pandemic and not having much face to face contact with any of the staff they were still all very lovely, helpful, and willing to accommodate for my pets needs! I’m very impressed and very thankful I found such a reliable space to take my fur baby to. And would absolutely recommend them and come back again!

Loki has a wonderful time here. The assistants are amazing. My favorite is Sam! My dogs recovery is going great since the surgery.

All of the employees I met (Lisa, Sam and David), as well as Dr Thompson, were wonderful! Thorough in explanation, kind and compassionate with my dog and me. I highly recommend!

We recently started taking our 12 year old chihuahua to Healing Hands for laser therapy. She has a hard time walking and the laser treatments have helped her so much!We used to go to Compassionate care and Healing Hands was recommended to us.

I want to share a bad experience I had at this vet. I own a 6 month old dalmatian puppy. From the beginning it seemed like a pretty good place, my only complaint was the price. Do not expect to go here and pay less than $200. Just the visit costs $59, and they always add on a bunch of random fees. They also provide boarding service, I left her there for one week and she was neglected and abused. I sent 21 meals with her ( since she is a puppy she still has 3 meals a day), they returned 14 of the 21 meals. Meaning she was fed once a day (She has great appetite and eats the whole meal in under a minute every time). We also sent tooth cleaning bones, it is a bone that she eats once a day to keep her breath fresh and clean her teeth. They returned all of them even though I asked them to give her the bones once a day. We sent 7 toys with her(4 of which were new), the new ones were sent back without a single tooth mark which means they didnt give her the toys, the others were cloth toys, and they were dry and stale as if they hadnt been played with for days as well. We also sent a blanket with her that she sleeps with, the blanket came back clean, so she was not given her blanket either. Me and my wife called to check in on her every day, and each time we were told she was doing great and eating all of her meals (lying...). When we picked her up and weighed her at the vets office, she had lost 6 pounds in just one week... when typically she has been gaining 2-5 pounds a week every week since she was 3 months old. The story does not end there... she got home and drank half a days worth of water as if she hadnt had water in days... She has been having diarrhea since we picked her up because they gave her beef treats when we specifically told them she cannot eat beef, and we provided them with treats that she can eat. Today is the third day since we picked her up and she started vomiting as well, so we took her back to the vet to get her examined and they said it was probably just stress from being away from us for a week. They took her temperature and gave her a shot for the nausea and charged us $156 after all of this happened after she was in their care for a week. I am very upset about this negative experience that we have had at this vets office. Me and my wife dont have kids yet so we treat her like our child, and I cant stop thinking about what she went through that whole week that she stayed here.Edit: If you diagnosed her with stress diareah you should have told me when i called and asked, instead of making me go back and pay $150 to be told the same thing. We were not told she couldnt have toys, we were not told any of these things that you are saying we were told. I called daily to check on her, during these calls I could have been told what was really going on, rather than finding out when I get back from my trip. She was not fed appropriately because it is not normal for a 6 month old puppy to lose 6 pounds, instead of gaining a few pounds a week like she has been. 6 pounds are very significant on a puppy. If you continue excusing the poor service by lying, rather than improving it your clinic will never improve.

Outstanding clinic with expert and compassionate staff. We have 5 dogs and every one of them has been treated multiple times at La Cantar. They treat our puppies as if they were their own. Between La Cantar Animal Hospital and Missionary Veterinary Specialists (for specialized surgeries), our little ones are leading happy lives to their fullest! One thing to note: they have excellent alternate therapies that have worked wonders on our dogs (laser therapy, acupuncture, treadmill, and Chinese herbs). They really do everything in their power to help you keep you loved ones happy and healthy.,

Absolutely the worst experience in customer service I have ever experienced. Brought my dog for shot updates today. Had been there multiple times before. AT NO POINT was I told on the phone that i could not enter the building with my dog. I have no problem with waiting until the COVID pandemic passes, I work in healthcare and completely understand precautions. This was NEVER relayed to me while making the appt !!!! After telling her that i wasnt told this beforehand or I would not have gone the office manager was incredibly rude, dismissive and readily volunteered my records to go elsewhere. The Veterinarian herself then got on the phone and was even more rude with the same curt dismissive tone.

Excellent service! Took my doxie to Dr. Thompson for the first time for acupuncture yesterday and after one treatment, he is walking so much better and I can tell he feels so much better. Thank you to everyone for the kindness and great service. See you soon for his next sessions.

I love a vet who offers both traditional veterinary services and more holistic services like acupuncture, cold laser, water therapy. Also, Dr Thompson is one of a few vets in San Antonio that goes by the vaccination standard of core vaccines given every 3 years and not every year!

The ONLY reason I’m giving them 4 stars is because of the younger staff at this location. They seem to be leading the way a lot more than the one’s who are becoming defeated. Which I understand more than anyone. Sometimes the owner needs just as much compassion as the animal does because the owner is killing himself trying to save his baby. The younger folks can see that because they are more up to date with the world around us. They’re not assuming or rushing to judgement they’re listening and watching.

I have known Dr. Thompson for many years and know she is not only extremely knowledgeable, but very compassionate and concerned for her patients,(clients). The staff is friendly and professional. They care about your pet and your concerns, and try to do whatever they can to make a trip to the Vet easier.My dog is a big fan of La Cantar. She cant wait to get inside and greet the staff, and pulls to go down the hall to see Dr. Thompson. This is after eight years of shots, blood draws and whatever else to keep her healthy. My dog is still happy to go to the Vet. Must be a good place!!

DLynn is the best vet I have ever worked with. She genuinely cares about the animals. Most importantly she is much more professional and accountable than other vets I have worked with. I dont have to worry about records being lost or having to call multiple times for prescriptions anymore. Her staff is also always friendly and helpful.

We brought in our elderly barn cat, who is not used to other people or places for her annual check and vaccinations, all went exceedingly well, thanks to the calm handling by Jason and Dr. Thompson. What in the past elsewhere had been a traumatic experience for her she was relaxed and at ease. The treatment for our dogs has been wonderful, many thanks to an efficient staff and always very competent care. We appreciate that attention is given to all of our questions about any procedures or medications, we never feel rushed.

Dont bother going to this place... and yes I have been here. I find it very stupid how the owner keeps saying all of the 1 star reviews are not clients. Youre right, we are not clients any more.

Great vet hospital! I was a little skeptical at first, when my vet of 25 years sold his practice, but Dr Thompson is wonderful. I have two Maltese dogs and two cats that she takes care of. My young agility dog had two knee surgeries in Austin and then broke her leg. The surgeon said he wasnt sure she would ever do agility again, but Dr. Thompson worked with her doing physical therapy, laser therapy and the underwater treadmill. My dog is so tiny (4.2 lbs.) and was so nervous in the tank that Dr. Thompson even got in the tank with her every time she went walking. Now my baby is as strong as ever and running in agility shows again. Dr Thompson was a life saver. Her staff are all very caring individuals. Wouldnt go anywhere else, even though she is on the other side of town from where we live.

I like her broad perspective of veterinary medicine, overlapping nutrition, complimentary modalities, physical rehabilitation and non-traditional approaches with mainstream practices. This place is terrible. They neglect pets theyre supposed to be taking care of. They starve the animals and ignore instructions from the owners. I had a dog who was not supposed to be given beef treats, and they fed them to my dog. My dog also came out of the place 5 pounds lighter after 1 week.

Great, attentive staff, who show they really do care about animals.We have four cats, and take them all to La Cantar for check-ups and treatment.Theyve saved the life of one of our cats, helped us nurse back to health another cat we rescued, and did a wonderful job when we had to doc the tail of a cat whod injured it.

Tricksters! What is wrong with the truth. Was referred by my vet for dental issues. First was told they could do labs and dental in one day. Hurried back to SA. Blood work only. So made an appointment. Drove in from Houston. Got there and then they told me I had to pay half of estimate up front. Their sign post payment when services rendered. They wanted me to go back home during am traffic and get funds. Then back later for dog. Why couldnt they tell me before hand. My poor dog is hurting still because of these un-professional wanta bes. I think you folks are cruel jerks!!!

Drs. Thompson and Castellanos have been wonderful with our kitties. We have an overweight barn kitty rescue that is working on reducing his Snugglepants...and a 13 yo Bengal with IBD. On multiple occasions they have worked us in on busy days to treat Beni and get him feeling better very quickly. We manage ibd with a raw diet and Dr. Thompson has given me great info to maintain his weight. I feel very lucky to have found this practice to treat my boys. Thanks La Cantar!!

We went there on a Saturday (which they do not honor the coupon on Saturday even though we told them we have the coupon when we made the appt (but it does say on the coupon Mon-Fri)) and once we figured that out we got our pup back and asked for pricing. Well our pup turned out to have mange and he invoiced us with the dr. visit because he said next time (since we know your dog has a problem) we cant honor the coupon. So I asked if we came on Monday and it was the 1st time you would have honored it. And he said well the coupon is really for healthy pets and if they find a problem (which he outright said the coupon is to get you in the door so you can have something else to pay for) they will not honor it. BEWARE!Plus, he taught us training techniques for if the dog is bad but he showed us on the dog while the dog was being good. So now our pet is totally confused, abused, and is asleep while I am writing this. Very sad.
