Wish I could rate them lower. The car we were given was not in a condition to be driven. Original had a rental car through the airport and when arrived found out no car was available. Our only other option was discount rent a car who charged me more than the original rental car. On top of that, I felt SUPER UNSAFE is the vehicle we were given. The entire car would shake when driving down hills and pressing on brakes. We called and told them about it and then they came back and said we had never brought this up to them, and they charged us MORE! I do not trust a company that puts my life at risk and lies. Try ANYWHERE ELSE! Especially if you have children. ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THEM PULLING MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT AND THEY HANG UP ON ME OVER AND OVER. Then I had to file a complaint of FRUAD against Discount -rent a car.

My husband and I ( The Shafers) went to Salt Lake City Utah for vacation and needed a car to go hiking and sightseeing so I searched online and found many car rental places but after calling around, the “Discount-Rent A Car” place was where my heart led me and my husband. Upon arrival and starting the business, only to find out that my husband license was expired which was a problem. However, the manager Cindy was there when Kyle was sorting us out and came to a jam because of the license. Cindy our life saver helped us out so much and gave us the car anyway because she just wanted us to have a great vacation. We really appreciated all the favors she did for us. Just wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU for saving our vacation last week. After spending over an hour in the Thrifty rental car line at SLC, we found you. I should add that that hour was before we got to the Thrifty counter and found that we had another hour and forty five minute wait for a car!You promptly answered the phone, patiently answered our questions and allayed any hesitation we had about renting “off airport”. We were in a car and on the road within 30 minutes of leaving SLC to come to you.Next time we need a car in SLC, you will be our first call.

Not sure where to start. Would probably rate lower but Google doesn’t give you that chance. So I’ll be nice and give one star. Got off our plane and went to pick up rental car at airport and they said they had run out of cars. No big deal really got out money refunded and then found Discount Rent a Car online. Great thing was (and probably the only good thing) that they had vehicles available right then to rent. There is a reason for that though… THIS company is NO ONE’s first choice to rent a car through. All junk vehicles. All salvage or rebuilt title. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad car always but usually should stay away. Anyway rented the car and everything seemed fine. Until we started going down a hill, it wasn’t too steep and there was a curve that just kept curving so I tried slowing down and when I did, I immediately noticed the rotors had been warped and the brake pads would need to be replaced. I was okay with it the car still stopped. But as days went on problem started to worsen. Called them and let them know they said they’d take a look at it. Dropped car off no big deal. Days later they had taken money out of the wrong accounts for the cards we used and wouldn’t return all money. Tried calling the manager and she kept talking over me and I tried raising my voice to get her attention and she got upset and hung up. My girlfriend called and tried figuring it out and they hung up on her. She called back they claimed “they didn’t have good service” when she called.Moral of the story is and we can all learn from this is, order and/or reserve rentals months in advance. If that be two to four months you should be good. Then we won’t have to as customers rely on unsafe junky POS cars that Discount Rent-a-Car provides. Also, not really sure if their “mechanic” is a mechanic or if he just looks things up on YouTube but does not know a thing he was talking about at all. Just order in advance.

Discount rent a car saved our trip!! After many failed attempts at trying to rent a car from a major company at the airport (due to us being under 25), we were referred to Discount and they went above and beyond to make sure we were able to start our girls trip. Jared and Kyle helped us out tremendously and got us in a car for such a great price. Highly recommend these guys!

This company is awesome!!! Not only did they hook me up with a great car on there rent to own program but when I had issues with battery they had me bring it down and replaced the battery with no charge just to keep me happy!!!! Some of the kindest and most professional people we had the pleasure of meeting on our getaway to SLC. Kyle made renting the car very easy while we chatted to Cindy about the history of Utah. Many issues occurred in getting a car but they just wanted us to have a great time. The car itself drove great and was very roomy. Returning the car with Jared and Aaron was a breeze. The entire staff was extremely friendly and informative. They were a huge reason why our little getaway in SLC was so wonderful.

They are amazing , I dropped my car off for repairs and had no issues getting a rental. The staff communicated prices and got consent so no surprises and they got my car done quick. I couldnt believe how affordable they were.

Rental was easy. KYLE was definitely the most helpful customer service guy ever! He took extra time to verify my insurance, as I was locked out of my account. He smiled the entire time that he was waiting for the insurance rep, and even had them fax a copy for me to take along. Note to self: Dont call him Kevin. Haha! I did, but he didnt blink an eye, and most likely wouldnt have corrected me if I hadnt asked. What a swell guy! CARLOS was great too! He made sure that I drove off with a clean car. We just moved here from Florida and had a rough time of it getting situated including having a car konk out on us the second we arrived from a 36 hour drive! After being treated poorly by enterprise we called these guys and they were a blessing! Even wound up buying a car from them after renting one. We were stuck in Salt Lake City with vehicle repairs. When we called, they sent a Lyft driver to come pick us up, and we were able to rent a car. Being out-of-town, we asked what there was to see and do in SLC and the surrounding area. The owner/manager wrote down several things to go see and do while we were in SLC. Not knowing how long the repairs would take, we initially rented the car for two days. They made it very easy to extend the rental by just a phone call. When we returned the car (in the early morning) the manager had one of the employees give us a ride back to the repair shop at no charge. I would highly recommend Discount Rent A Car in SLC. Excellent, courteous service. Great people to do business with.

Best car buying Experience EVER! Thank you Jared! Fastest DEAL EVER!Just bought this car and the car and after a week my car died. Jump started the car and went to Oreilly Auto parts for diagnostic check. The clerk said the battery was bad. I called Jared he said bring it in and we will beat the price and fix it. I drove down and Jared had a new and used battery waiting. He began changing the battery right there immediately. He discovered loose cable on the post of the battery. He ran to get battery check meter. It was fine. He cleaned the post and then Carlos got screws and the fixed it in minutes. Again thank you Jared and Carlos for getting me back on the road. Just bought a car from Jared.This has been the easiest fastest car deal EVER!I handled everything over the phone. All I had to do was test drive. BUT the car was rented out. I had no car so, he had Carlos picked me up and bring me to the dealership to test drive the car. He called the customer and they had it there in minutes, by the time I was there to test drive. I had car troubles on a Saturday and they were the only ones open besides the airport. They were cheaper than the airport by far. They were closing soon when I got there, but they let me park my rental outside their fence to come back for it later (had to go drop off my actual car). I rented my car for the week, but ended up only needing it for a few days. They took it back and refunded me the money.They were SO helpful, kind, and thorough. I will definitely use them again if I’m ever in need of a rental!

So I want to start off by saying I called 7+ rental locations for a vehicle and had zero luck, if they did have any cars available they wanted your soul for it. Then I called discount rent a car and wow. The process was so simple and easy, I was in and out in like 25 mins, the price was unbelievable we paid less than $100 & after our trip they even gave us a ride to the airport! Just above and beyond with service. I honestly was just going to pay to Lyft and Uber everywhere until I called them. Easy, simple and cheap, go there and save yourself the headache.

This is a local company who provides a valuable business and service for those who no longer want play the game with major car rental agencies. They are honest, you dont need a credit card or debit card. You can pay cash and your deposit is returned the day you return the car--not 5-7 days as is typically the care when a credit card is used. No hidden fees, no weird or unexpected charges, the quote was accurate and in my case unbelievable:the actual charge was alot less than the quite itself. I was in shock. How many times do we return a vehicle only to be charged double, extra or not be granted your deposit because the quote was innacurate.Thanks Kyle and everyone at discount. Please support this local company so we have a choice.Not only all of the above, but I requested the cheapest vehicle, an economy car.... And was given a pontiac grand am. Couldnt be happier.

They are money hungry people. They dont care how much they take from you, and will take as much as possible. Their quotes on their web page are lies and they charge you double or even triple the amount. Their cars are ran down and need to be maintenanced, to the point of being dangerous to be on the road.

These guys were awesome. I travel often for work and I rent cars all the time. When I needed to do a local rental I ended up giving these guys a try. I was hesitant because of horror stories about local rental places.I was more than pleasantly surprised. They were very honest, and more than accommodating. The car I got was a great car. The prices were fair. I was charged exactly what I was quoted. They didnt try to do anything even remotely dishonest. They even stayed late to let me return the car as I was stuck in traffic.I would recommend them over any major rental agency any day of the week.I couldnt have been more impressed with the service I received.

Its hard for me to mention just one staff member when I know them all to be great. I been using them for several years now. I work in hotels and I always refer my out of town guests when they inquire about a rental.They have always been good to me, working with me when ever possible. If something breaks or needs tending to they have never hesitated to fix it. I have purchased one car from them and now on my second. Jared worked with my husband to find just the right SUV for me and I absolutely love it.

NIGHTMARE Experience!! Stay way from this company. The cars are old, unsafe clunkers. Staff will appear nice and helpful but are skilled con artists. The staff screwed up my payment and then blamed me for it and demanded I pay them more money immediately. I had an agreement and made an additional payment to guarantee extension of the car. Once they got that payment they then renewed their harassment of demanding more money. Worst car rental experience ever. I am filing a formal complaint with the BBB and will speak to my attorney about them. This is one company that truly should be shut down and put out if business. If anyone is interested in joining together and organizing a class action suit against them let me know.

This company has always taken good care of our family. Over the past 15 years, we have purchased 3 cars from them. Nothing fancy, but great transportation for the kids to go to school. They also provide friendly and economic automobile maintenance service. I definitely refer friends and family to them. Try renting one for a week so you can try it out and see if you really like it.

Love this place. I went their just to get a rental while I take my car to get it fix. They said they can fix car their they have a shop. They gave me the lowest price to fix my timing belt. Everywhere Ive called they charge me an arm and a leg. This place fix my car and gave me a rental for how much it was to get it fix somewhere else. Cars are really old and we told them we were going to wendover and they gave us a 2005 expedition with over 168K miles on it and said we’d make it with no problems. Well we did, but as soon as we got back into town the engine light came on. Probably won’t ever rent from them again but they did come thru for us last minute. 👍🏼

I have rented a couple of different times from discount rental. Every time I have came in I have been taken care of very well. The staff has always been helpful and fast. They have always had a variety of cars to choose from. The cars have always been clean. They have done rentals with a very low deposit and at times nothing down. They have accepted cash instead of a card for me. I wouldnt have been able to rent otherwise and would have been stranded. They have even stayed after close waiting to accommodate me. They have a very friendly relaxed staff that has always made me feel comfortable I will always come back to discount!

THE WORST experience I have ever experienced. Put my car in the shop and they have never returned my car. It’s been 5 months and they find every excuse to hold on to it. The type of company that kicks you when you’re down. No empathy what so ever..due to that they still have my car We have to do business but yet the owner Cindy cussed me out On the phone and kept hanging up on me....can’t wait to be finished doing business with this company. Their rental I had is in police custody which is well out of my control yet they refuse to give back my personal car back which they were suppose to be repairing. Definitely getting legal help involved.

They are the ONLY local car rental that allows you to rent locally without an absurd deposit and you can pay cash OR use a prepaid debit card. They have also picked me up at the train station so I wouldnt be late to my Dr. appointment across town. Great customer service!!

A discount rent a car is now the Only place I will rent a car from. I needed an interlock device installed in the rental in order for me to drive it. They handled everything and got me on the road. My boyfriend and I were in a really tough spot, with a Harley as only transportation in bad weather. We needed a car rental to get to an appointment 2 hours away. I used Discount during a recent trip to Utah. The vehicle was a bit worn, but it served my purposes. You wont find anything fancy in their inventory, but their prices and service are great! Dont rent at the airport if you dont have to - take an uber to Discount and save a bundle.

All the vehicles they sell and rent have rebuilt salvage titles they buy at auctions. Unsafe to drive and not reliable. Also the owner Cindy is a con artist. She tried to scam my brother (who is disabled and has a learning disability) into buying a horrible car. It was 10 years old and was previously declared totaled, had a salvage title. He almost paid them over 10,000 dollars. Even without the history and title the kbb on it was not even worth half of that. They look for deaperatd people in hard situations and squeeze anything they can get out of them. After I stepped in and stopped my brother from buying. They got mad and re wrote the rental policy he arranged, he had rented this car the previous 2 weeks, And charged him double the amount per day and forgot about his cash deposit. Beware of this business. I will be filing a complaint with the Utah office of liscensing and BBB as well as a local Utah advocate.

They were so friendly and help me where nobody else would give me a car. There the greatest I recommend them to everybody.

I tried to rent at the air port but they wouldnt honor my reservation because I didnt have a credit card. I brought my debit card to Discount with no problem. Friendly family staff. My next trip to Utah ill rent from Discount you can be sure of that! A++++ Guys!

Wow, what an awesome experience. It was a miracle. My mom died. I had to get a last minute ticket. Had to have a rental car. Couldnt afford deposits. Did not have a major credit card. Cancelled the flight. Then became so despondent, I called a car rental place at the airport, begging. They referred me to Discount Rent a Car. I called spoke to Cindy and everything fell into place. The price of car, the deposit, the service. My flight was after hours and then late. They waited. They got me a cab for when I returned my car. This was a miracle. Not having a car was stopping me from my moms burial. The service, compassion and care was unbelievable. If I had money galore. My business would go to Discount Rent a Car. Thank you Jesus.

My Boy Aaron Eubanks Of Salt Lake Helped Me Out Big. I Was In a bad situation and out of luck. I had just enough money to rent a car and get a hotel, but what about food,an gas. Aaron told me to save my hotel money for a safe trip back home an invited me into his home with his wife an son. We had good food and good music. An in The morning a ride to the airport. I felt nickel and dimed and misinformed by these guys. This IS NOT your typical rental company. First, they charge for shuttling to/from the airport (I found this out AFTER they brought me to their yard). Second, they charge $0.20 per mile after the first 100 miles (they notified me of this detail AFTER I returned the vehicle). Third, their hours are inconvenient - closed Sunday and at 5pm other days (found out after). Furthermore, I was underwhelmed by both the vehicle reliability and the management. The first vehicle they offered smelled like cigarettes. After a few hours of use, the second vehicles window malfunctioned and would not close. When attempting to return the vehicle early, the owner had zero sympathy for the misinformation and inconvenience his business had imposed on me. I attempted to negotiate a discount on the faulty vehicle, but the owner would not budge on price and told me I was tied to a rental contract. He told me he was doing me a favor by letting me return the vehicle a day early. This indiscretion toward customer satisfaction seriously angered me. I told the owner that his behavior was bad for business, but he still would not budge on the hidden charges that added to a total of $80 / day for an old Pontiac with a broken window.

I have never recieved better service than I did from every member of the staff! It seemed like every thing that could go wrong did. There was no way I was going to make it to get a car rented...Cindy stayed late ordered a car to pick me up. If you need a rental car definitely call these guys! You will be so glad you did!

A discount rental car is the best choice of van rental with great price and service. If you want to family happy this is the best deal^^
