This is honestly my first negative review. I was just completely unsatisfied with the customer service... or better yet, the lack of it. They did not even bother to get off the couch that they were sitting on and seemed very uninterested. They put very little effort and thought into answering my questions. In short... well be renting from somewhere else.
None of the workers are going to assist in any manner when loading your items from this scam of a business. Bring your own hands if your a woman by yourself, or better yet, use someone else.
Unable to help load or unload to help with the items they want to rent. Their excuse will be being short staffed, but not sure how that excuse will help anyone older or who may be unable to lift 50lbs +.This is the husband who was traveling at the time, not friends.
Too low staffed to provide proper service.
Unable to handle tablecloths being used at a wedding, worth buying from a store and not hearing about the owner handwashing the cloths and stating that they should not have any stains.
Bad first impression! She was very rude to me. The way she spoke to me because I was 15 mins early to my appointment. It seemed like she was upset because I was early. She kept looking at me up and down (i am Hispanic and i had my baby with me). I knew i was early because i don’t like to be late. I didn’t mind waiting or coming back a later time. She spoke to me with frustration and looked at me like if I wasn’t a potential buyer. I ended up just walking out because she did not make me feel welcome. I will not be giving her any business.
We rented the mixed vintage chairs, tables, and dance floor for our daughters outdoor wedding. Lisa was incredibly responsive, delivery and pick up was exceptional, everything was as expected making a stressful day that much smoother. Would HIGHLY recommend and use them again!
Lisa did my wedding a few years ago and I never had a chance to review my experience! She was amazing through the whole process. I had no idea what I wanted, I wasn’t picky and she made my dreams come true. I can’t say enough about her and her company!
I absolutely love this Company, they go out of their way to make your Special occasion the best it can be.
Hands Down 5 Stars! So let me just say these bogus reviews on here are not warranted. As a business owner, I understand you cant please everyone. And people are entitled to their own opinions. Those are just opinions. One sided people. This company went out of their way to make my event AMAZING! First of all, Lisa answered numerous emails from me and my mom. Like a million phone calls and was super sweet the entire time. We did not hire her as our planner because we had already booked one by the time we found Somthin borrowed. But, she was more knowledgeable than my own planner. She was the one who helped me pick out linens for the wedding. She, like I mentioned answered all the tedious questions me and my mom had. On the day of delivery, they were on time. The other company I rented from in Fayetteville was Not. Somthin borroweds linens were spotless and ironed perfectly. The glassware was beautiful and spotless. I literally have no complaints with this company or Lisa. They were Amazing. SO please meet them in person, go see their beautiful showroom. I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Truly great business and people. They have been in business for 20+ years and it shows. Very well done SB. I cant wait for you to do my lil siss wedding next year.
Unfortunately, we do not have a great review for this place. We hate to have to leave a bad review, others can make their own judgment. The first issue we encountered was that we originally had our wedding date scheduled for April 4, 2020, but we changed it to June 12 due to COVID spiking in the area and the emergency order being in place where only 10 guests or less were allowed. But unfortunately, we had to move our date to September for various reasons regarding COVID. When we informed Lisa, we were sent a new invoice with a restocking fee of $81.50 because the contract only allows one date change per calendar year. We understand that there was an original contract to abide by, but these were circumstances of the pandemic that were out of our control. We had to deal with so many changes with other vendors, no one made it difficult except for this place. We chose not to say anything, because we would rather avoid any conflict and decided to pay. When my husband picked up our items for the reception and when he asked if it was used with fuels, Lisa responded defensive and as if she was annoyed. She proceeded to mention that it didn’t come with fuels, which we already knew that but we wanted to ensure that they were used with fuels and not electric. So that was unnecessary. Then we noticed that the chafing dishes were dirty from the inside, but no big deal as it can be washed. On Monday, September 14, our family dropped off our items and Lisa made a comment about the table being dirty with chocolate. Once again complained over something that is expected as it is a rental item for a party. At 1:01 PM, we received a voicemail about needing to talk to someone about the linens. At 1:02 PM we received an email stating, “Your linens- Please call me ASAP” At 1:41 PM we finally received the details of the linens with a invoice. The issue was that they were heavily soiled/damaged by chocolate, yellowish orange residue and one had rice in it and smelled like “vomit.” Our apologies for not ensuring that there wasn’t any food in them. But we offered to have them professionally cleaned, but once we offered she mentioned that it smelled like vomit. Because of COVID she could no longer use the linens. First of all, we know that there was no vomit because it was used for the food. We understand that they were dirty, but what can you expect when it’s for a party. If she has such high expectations then she should include in her contract to have the items returned clean. Just as she expects for the items to be returned clean, then she should have not provided the chafing dishes dirty. Thursday, we got another email about her not handing over the linens until the invoice was paid off. But the problem is that she had the urge to tell us to pay it, because she didn’t want to turn it over to collections. It had barely been a few days and no one made it seem like we were not going to pay for it for her to start mentioning about collections. Not to mention, we were on our honeymoon so it’s not like we did not want to pay for it. It was already inconvenient having to deal with this at our honeymoon. We obviously decided to wait until we got back In town on Friday to pay for it in person and pick up the linens ourselves. Surely enough I immediately went Friday morning to pay for it to be done with this. My husband obviously expressed all of our concerns through email and of course, her response seemed very defensive as always. She was not professional and she lacks customer service. We didn’t meet her expectations, but we paid for the invoice and we kept the linens. Surely enough when we got them washed, the chocolate and yellowish residue came out. I’m sure she will respond with her own opinions, but we don’t care. We have rented linens from other business and we have never had any issues. We wish we would have taken our business elsewhere as this added more stress, there was no sympathy from her and it was more costly than we had anticipated.
I use Somthin Borrowed for so many events! From weddings to parties to VIP Receptions, Lisa and her staff have always provided great service and made the planning process a breeze. They always go above and beyond and make sure everything is beautiful. Whenever I have an event, they are the first call I make!
Absolutely the best Wedding and Party Rental. They have EVERYTHING..Its set up so cute and Lisa Dawson is the # 1 Wedding and Event Planner. All my Wedding needs were meeting. Very helpful and knowledgeable. No worries . My wedding was beautiful. Thank you Lisa and staff!
I wish I had seen the negative reviews about poor customer service before we had placed down our deposit. Working with Lisa to create an invoice was a terrible experience. I clearly listed in our emails what items I wished to rent using the exact names given on the website and, without a fail, something would be incorrectly typed. This happened with knife and plate counts, types of silverware, and various decor. Every time I would correct an error, I would receive a new invoice with absolutely no apology. Unfortunately I had to go through this long process two separate times since our wedding was turned into an elopement. We had very little hope that the correct items would be delivered on the day of, but thankfully everything arrived like we ordered. What Im truly upset about is the unprofessional behavior we witnessed from someone who picked up our rentals at the end of the night (May 20, 2020). As we were packing up our things to leave, we heard a woman speaking to our wedding planner loudly complaining about another customer that was a bridezilla. Ive worked in customer service and I understand that it can be frustrating dealing with some clients, but these are things you vent about in private. She may have not known we were right in the next room, but it still wasnt professional to carry on this kind of conversation for as long as she did.UPDATE:As if to one-up herself, let me attach the apology I just received from Lisa over email. Turns out it wasnt another employee but herself who was talking poorly about other customers. Future COVID brides and event planners - you make the call on whether or not its ok for vendors to speak this way about you.UPDATE #2:Why am I not surprised that the owner was petty enough to copy and paste a long email conversation below? I didnt want to sit here arguing about spoons on a Google review but I guess we have devolved to this. The previous invoice she sent for me to pay included no spoons (and no explanation for why they were left off the order), even though I requested a full silverware set. I had to send her a 2nd email to ask her why there were no spoons and the response she copy/pasted was finally her reply. If I hadnt double checked the 20 line invoice for spoons and sent her a separate email, I wouldnt have had spoons on my wedding day... Ultimately still not a big deal. Just not the best customer service.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Im not sure why I havent wrote this review before now. We have used Lisa with Somthin Borrowed for several events going back 5 years ago. Holidays, birthdays, the first was our sons graduation party at our house. Which I planned very last minute! I called them on a Thursday for tables and chairs in June, without hesitation she made it happen on Saturday for us. We have used them exclusively for the past 5 years. They are always on time, always curteous and always very helpful. Dont let the negative reviews infulence you. They are the best around. Just call them, ask for Lisa and tell her Lauren sent you!
We hired waitstaff and valet from Lisa and they did an INCREDIBLE job. They were not only kind and courteous to our guests, but also so fun for me to work with. I appreciate Something Borrowed so much for working with us on such short notice and answering all my questions with patience! I will for sure come to Lisa for all my parties in the future!
Lisa and the staff are superior! Not only professional but very kind and flexible. The creativity they have is amazing. The rental items are always of the best quality. Clean, matching, well taken care of items. Rates are the best around too. The customer service is what makes them different from the rest.
Lisa Dawson, youre the best. My daughter got married yesterday, The event went flawlessly, the flowers were beautiful and all the decoration/table settings were gorgeous. Youre event coordination, made our day perfect. My daughter couldnt have any happier with her wedding! Thanks!
I dont normally write negative reviews, but this company was very rude. The driver cussed out my friend, the bride, about not knowing the chairs had to go up a hill. He refused to help, even for an extra charge, and we all figured it out ourselves. When complaining to the owner, she didnt take it seriously and said she doubted the driver cussed and didnt even apologize. Customer service is important, and this place fails miserably at it.
I dont like leaving negative reviews, but I feel like future customers should be aware of what level of care they may possibly receive. Almost a year ago I had a wedding reception and I used Somthin Borrowed to rent tents, tables, chairs, and linens. The reason that I put any stars is that during the whole process almost all the people I dealt with were very kind, however I did have problems from the very beginning. To start someone had entered the date of my event incorrectly in the computer although it was correct in their hard copies, and it took over a month for someone to correct it. So every time we talked about delivery dates and times they were suggesting completely wrong weekends. It took me pointing this out several times before anyone looked into it. Later they notified me that they were short of the linens I ordered so I had to come back into the store and find some different tablecloths to mix in. This was slightly annoying because I had mismatched table clothes at my reception but overall not a huge deal. However the biggest issues I had with them were with payment and delivery/pick up times. The invoice amount varied with every person I spoke with, and it seemed like there wasnt a uniform way the employees were charging the services. The time I may have been most offended is when the owner told me that she had undercharged me while giving me a disapproving stare. I asked her if I needed to pay the difference and she said no, perhaps begrudgingly. The business owner should have either eaten those costs or asked me to pay , but dont guilt her customer about her own mistake by mentioning it. However the most hands-down, absolutely most stressful thing about the whole marriage process was trying to tie this company down for delivery dates. I regret trying to be a calm and understanding customer because I do believe they took full advantage of it. It was a battle to peg them down on a certain day and time they would deliver; I mean numerous calls and emails. After we had FINALLY set on a date to deliver, their truck showed up at the event place (a private residence) the night before (around 7 at night) the actual agreed upon delivery date. They did this completely without my consent. The way I found out was by the house owner calling me in hysterics because A) no one was even home when they started setting up and B) they still needed to mow the lawn. To top this all off, even after all this was settled and we were getting everything assembled, they ended giving us somebody elses linens, so some poor person got their lines very late and all crumpled up (we had already opened them). So my advice is this: Overall I ended up spending over $2300 at this business, but I still felt like a low priority client. Unless you plan to spend vast sums of money there, be prepared to be extremely firm in your requests and be vigilant about your invoice. Take away here is that I dont believe this business necessarily had bad intentions , but nevertheless it is extremely disorganized and for me personally was the most negative and stressful aspect of planning my event.
Lisa did my daughters wedding at Fairlane Station and it was amazing! We rented everything from her and she coordinated the events. She decorated exactly like my daughter had envisioned and everything was rented from her and beautiful! She also did all the flower arrangements which were beautiful! Thank you Lisa!!
Highly recommend for all of your event needs!
The people at Somthin Borrowed were incredibly gracious and flexible with what I needed. The 60 circle tables I rented were absolutely perfect. The rental cost was way below budget too. Thank you, Somthin Borrowed!
Lisa is very knowledgeable & helpful.
