Beautiful clubhouse with a great view of Providence Park and the playing field from MACs living room. Ive been to many classes and luncheons at MAC. The food is delicious. While they are efficient, the wait staff serving conferences never seems very happy or friendly. This is a very upscale place, normally for members only. Nice, but spendy gift shop inside too.

Im a 26 year old, female legacy intermediate member, and Ive been debating whether to let my membership go. When you turn 26, you can typically either initiate (meaning you pay an initiation fee and higher, more frequent dues), move to nonresident status, or leave. For months Ive seriously considered leaving and Ive looked at other gyms in the SW Portland and Beaverton areas.Heres why Ive considered leaving:- Theres not much of an appeal for single members in their twenties post college.- Most of the members in the Fitness Room are either school aged (14-22), middle aged, or in retirement.- Its crazy expensive. I dont think I can lay out the numbers. The initiation fee is the cost of a used car. The monthly dues are *easily* 3x more than other gyms.- Some of the members are ridiculously rude. As in, they wont stop for pedestrians and wont stop at stop signs in the parking lot. Some can be incredibly possessive and entitled about equipment and their spot during workout classes. *Spoiler alert* those are only *some* members and youll find people like that anywhere else.Ive done lots of online research and went to Crunch Fitness Beaverton and the 24 Hour Fitness in downtown PDX near the Wells Fargo building.Heres why Ive decided to stay:- I feel safe and respected here especially by the staff, who are always professional and friendly.- I dont have to worry about being scammed with fees and payments.- The equipment and facility are top notch. You dont have to worry about broken equipment sitting unfixed for long or going unnoticed.- Nice perk: most of the treadmills have their own screens so you can watch TV, plus they have a giant screen with multiple TVs.- Parking hasnt been an issue on weekday evenings during COVID, and I dont think it will be since Im guessing a lot of the members will be able to work remote/hybrid.- There are multiple staff members in most of the areas, like the Fitness area, rock climbing, etc.- Customer service is amazing. The front desk staff are consistently super helpful, friendly and professional. They kindly enforce the rules and standards. Fitness staff are also friendly and welcoming.- Ive never felt unsafe with the members. You can also request to have security walk you to your car.I learned that, sadly, there is no middle class gym. You either have the Crunch and 24 Hour Fitnesses, or you have the MAC and OrangeTheories. The MAC has essentially anything you need. At this club, there really is more of an interactive, community feel. While it is incredibly exclusive and pricey, unfortunately thats the way the fitness market is with the extreme high end and low end. For me, the difference in financial cost is worth feeling safe and respected. The nice thing is that once youre a member, the family dues arent that expensive per person compared to single member dues. It really has everything most people could think of, including towels. Apparently towels arent offered at most gyms these days...The MAC has done a fantastic job at staying safe and clean during COVID, even reducing dues while closed. Obviously it still needs money to take care of the facilities and very well deserving employees. One area for improvement is their DEI initiatives. They have come a long way from discriminating and excluding minorities, and I am happy to see them continue to grow. Keep it up, MAC!

Was here for two tax conferences this week so we utilized the event space and it was great. Very accommodating of large groups. Staff was very friendly and helpful with set up of the space and very efficient with breakdown as well. The location of MAC is wonderful; right next to Providence Park which is awesome. The interior design of MAC is beautifully laid out. Definitely recommend checking it out.

I strongly urge you to stay far away from this place run by completely incompetent staff! My daughter took a lifeguard training class there 2 years ago and they did not correctly file her paperwork. They cashed my check for $245, she passed the class and test but now when she needs to recertify (lifeguard training needs recertification every 2 years) they have “no record of her ever taking the class”. This means they never turned in the paperwork for her certification! She has been working as a lifeguard for almost 2 years!! This is a legal liability and poor management. I have left at least 10 messages to the management and no one knows anything. It is ridiculous and dangerous. Do not risk it!

The MAC is a great athletic/social and entertainment member owned club. We as a club constantly strive for greater inclusivity. Lots of activities for families and children. We have over 600,000 square feet which includes 2 full size basketball courts, a 50 meter, 25 and 20 yard pools, newly renovated fitness floor, and a ton of tennis, squash, handball and racquet ball courts... and on and on. The wait can be long to join and it is certainly worth it once youve joined.

Went to MAC for a racquetball tournament. The staff was very rude to non-members. I/we recognize that members pay a large fee for services, and they deserve priority. However, when “athletic” and “regular entrences empty into the same room and are located 10 meters apart, and a desk worker forces us to go outside and enter the other door in a condescending tone, it is very degrading. Like the members at the club, we also pay a fee to use the facility, and I think we’re also deserving respect from the staff. The facilities are very nice, but it’s not worth feeling like a second class citizen, in my humble opinion.

I’m a member here, and I can tell you the club is very great! It is huge, with many things to do. You do have to be related to someone who is already a member to be a member. The food is very good, and has an excellent pub. 3 swimming pools, which 1 of them is a Olympic sized pool. There is basketball, tennis, racquetball, handball, rock climbing, swimming, gyms, weightlifting, yoga, martial arts, running, and much more. If your a member and a timbers fan, there is a deck where you can watch the games for free. Hundreds of events and classes, and lots of places for kids.

I worked here for years, love the place. The first thing everyone says is how fancy and expensive and nice it it. This is all true. Yet, the staff is paid very, very little. They work very hard to accommodate everyone from formal to summer camp. And they mostly enjoy it, too bad the trickle down economic plan didnt work within this place

Only went to the apparently nicer upstairs restaurant. Nice people generally but not a real welcoming vibe. No hats, no phones... Our waiter spoke at us and not to us. They were out of several menu items on a Friday night. The food we got was probably better than average but the service and MIA menu made it so unenjoyable I dont really remember how good it may have been. Although the duck and boullabaise couldnt have been that bad, I ate it all. We rushed through the meal and bolted. Downstairs bar may be more comfortable, lounge over the stadium is cool and the MAC in general is stylish and classy. If your looking for first class food and service Id say keep looking but who knows maybe we caught an off night.

Walked through the front door in the middle of a sunny day with a newborn in a stroller who needed changing and I needed to use the restroom. Hardly anyone at the club. Solid club- unbelievably large, food is ok- not fantastic- wine list seems like it is better from years past-as far as the athletic facility its great and seems like they are constantly adding every few years to keep it up to date-- great on number of additions as well---from salon to massage to pilates to classes they cover that well. fantastic for the kids as they have many classes and lessons during school year and camps during summer. Overall I wished the food menus were better and the hours of operation for sports pub was better ( they arent open during sundays and have some weird hours at times
