I couldnt be happier about the service from Megan at Rooks. I went in a little nervous, as Ive rarely had good experiences when trying to get a more masculine hair cut as I tend to be perceived as female. And I wanted to try something Ive never done before, having figured out that the search terms man bun undercut fade give results that match what I want, and if possible I wanted some sort of design cut into the fade.Megan put me at ease and was really wonderful to work with. She understood what I was going for, helped me figure out how high up to go, started conservative and then got my input on whether or not to go higher, and then did a great design in the fade. It looks and feels fantastic, is exactly what I hoped for, and I wish I could come back regularly but I live in San Francisco.

Great place! I always get a great cut and Eddie is super fun to talk too! Everyone there is really nice and make you feel welcome.

Eddie has been my preferred barber for a few years now. He knows exactly how I want my hair styled, is a skilled professional with attention for details, and is a great person overall. The shop has a friendly atmosphere with Megan and Dustin bringing the cool vibes. Every time I walk out of there I feel renewed!!!

Got my haircut at the downtown location. Went straight from there to the grocery store where a gentleman asked where, and took note on his phone of, where I got my haircut. So I think theyre doing something right!

Man the people that run this place are so nice and accommodating, I had a bit of an emergency where I had 3 interviews back to back and needed a haircut within 30 minutes and they got me in no problem for a quick and clean mens cut and he was just a super laid back and easy to talk to person. Will very likely be back, you cant miss with this barber.

I recently moved closer to downtown and have been trying to find a decent barber. I saw Eddie 10/24/18 and he did an amazing job! I am very particular about how my hair is styled and cut due to having thick coarse hair.Eddie took his time with cutting my hair. He made sure that I was satisfied with what I was receiving. I noticed that he probably goes above and beyond with most of his customers as the guy before me asked for changes at the end of his cut and Eddie was glad to accommodate and even said that he could text you the cut/style so that you have it for future reference.Since moving and my old barber leaving their shop, Ive struggled to find a good replacement. Honestly, I will definitely come back because I enjoyed the service, atmosphere, and vibe.Update 1/24/19 - been here a couple more times and still stand by the great atmosphere and barbers. Definitely worth the time and money to pay a visit to this shop.

Ive been going to Eddie for over a year now. Hes very attentive and actually takes the time to understand what it is youre going for. I always leave with a phenomenal fade and haircut overall. Highly recommend.

Very happy to see a Rooks location downtown. Much easier to get to than than the other ones considering I go to work/class downtown anyway.This location is awesome. There are 3 chairs available, but only two people were there when I came by. MAKE A RESERVATION ONLINE. Megan cut my hair and did an awesome job. The price is a little steep ($27 for a cut) but they really make sure you leave with a cut youll like. The hot towel neck shave at the end is always something Ill prefer when it comes to a barbershop experience vs a cut from a friend or god forbid a franchise like great clips. Trust me, youll get what you pay for here.Plus theres a complimentary drink while you wait or are getting a haircut (beer, soda, juice, etc.). Depending on who you get a cut from, they know how to keep a conversation if youre comfortable with it. If you just wanna get a cut and relax, thats fine too.Check these guys out, they do a fantastic job. The worst that will happen is youll walk out with a GREAT haircut.

Awesome little barber shop, conveniently located downtown. Perfect to hit up after work. Nate is great and always does a fantastic job! He really cares about giving you a good cut that fits you and will continue to look good weeks later. Nate and everyone else is super nice and friendly as well. Plus, a free drink and hot neck shave with every cut. Cant be beat.

Apparently you must book online where there is a service charge for doing so. Walked in and was told next apt was at 1:30. On their site right now theres a slot for 1pm. I feel like they just wanted me to leave so they could go back to talking about chopping legs off of horses that died in ditches. Great convo to walk in the door to.

I had Eddie as my barber. He did a great job, and made me feel comfortable throughout the cut. I also bought a pomade. I will definitely be going back. (There was also a cute dog there sleeping, it was a good doggo.)

Finally found someplace in SW that consistently gives a great cut for guys. A touch spendier than someplace like Bishops, but you dont get the attitude, frequent mistakes, or hour+ long waits. Just book through the website (they usually seem pretty open a day or two out), show up, and get a great haircut. Havent gotten a full shave here yet, but looking forward to one.

Finally found my Guy Zane Young is my favorite and most consistent barber Ive had. Great atmosphere and camaraderie between the barbers!

Nate is the best. Always patiently listens to what I want. Consults on what would work with my hair type. Gives solid pool advice. Great haircut. Good price point.

After growing out my hair for 2 years I decided to go short again. Eddie did a fantastic job! I was also impressed with the overall experience the place.

In the short time Ive lived in Portland, Rooks has been my go to spot. Located in the heart of downtown, you cant beat the location and the value that comes with getting a cut here. In my four times going to Rooks, Nate has never let me down. He always takes the the time to make sure he gets every detail of your cut to your specifications, and my hair is left looking suave for weeks afterwards. I would recommend Nate to any of my friends looking for a cut in downtown. Also cant beat the hot neck shave and beer to go along with it. 10/10.

Ive had my last 4 haircuts here, with one of them being a haircut for my wedding. Great place, great vibes, and they offer capri sun and an assortment of other drinks for you while you wait.They offer walk ins, however, you should play it safe and reserve a spot online.This is not a chop shop at all, the barbers here love what they do and do it well. I will always come back to this barber shop :).

Been twice and absolutely no issue with the cut (Meghan then Justin) but for $30+ dollars my simple haircut should be no issues. Would be 4* due to price however the fact the suggested tips start at 20% and go to 25 and 30 is not reasonable. Had no cash and didn’t want to leave no tip as the cut was good however this is way over the top. $38.40 for 15 minutes of time :/

I have walked out of plenty of those barber shops thinking, Im going to get over this haircut. Im almost happy with this. Itll do. Or even this is the worst one yet. A few times. Never have I walked from a barber shop with a smile on my face. Never have I left thinking this is exactly what I came in wanting. I look sexy. Thats what I got at rooks. Professional. Sexy. Just had a transformational haircut at Rooks from Sanchez. He really helped guide the cut to work with me on my hair and a good look.The haircut came with a razor cleanup of my neck and forehead, which caught me off guard, but boy do I look clean.
