They always solve any issue I have with my car in a very timely and professional manner. Including progress reports and completion notices. I have referred friends and they have had the same experience. I am so glad they now work on Mercedes.

My experience at H&T Motors was wonderful. The initial estimate was almost spot on with the final cost. So no surprises. I was kept up to date on the repair process, everyone is professional, and they are really easy to work with. My old Westy is running great! I called with an issue that turned out to be unrelated to the repairs they did. However, H&T Motors contacted me over the weekend to let me know that they would check it out on Monday. I was contacted at the time we arranged and was helped over the phone. Thank you all for being so easy to work with and doing great repairs. This is 5-star customer service. I will be back!

Heckmann & Thiemann is the only service company for my 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S. I had some general oil change service done and also had them troubleshoot an electrical problem I was having. I was able to leave my car with them while I was out of town for 10 days to allow the proper time for them to troubleshoot. Had great communications from Norma throughout the whole process and picked up my car once I returned and they fixed my electrical issue. Great service!

Very professional and friendly. Relayed all details about what they found and what was needed. Performed worked as needed in a timely manner. Phyllis and Norma were great to work with. My visit at Heckmann & Thiemann was all that it could be. From scheduling the appointment and 1st time greeting by the management staff to discussing the issues and then watching and listening to the service details being provided by experienced mechanics. Took in a 1989 VW Westfalia for shifting problems on a recently rebuilt shifter assembly rebuilt by another garage. The other garage was unable to remedy the issue after two tries and seemed reluctant to address the issue at all. It was a tricky repair, but H&T was able to remedy the issue after two tries, with no charge on the second attempt. And they got the van in promptly on the return visit. Great customer service. Very professional and no attitude, which I greatly appreciate. Took the time to explain the issue with me and answer my questions. Also, did a general inspection and discovered the distributor cap and rotors needed replacing, something the other shop had missed. Cant believe how much better the van is running now! Thank you, H&T!

I’ve been using Heckman on a regular basis for 7 years to maintain multiple VW cars. They are reliable, and trusted, for their quality work. Communication can be inconsistent but that’s my only complaint.

These folks are the experts on everything air cooled. They were able to hunt down an obscure issue on my 74 914, runs like top. Sharp.

I was buying a car sight unseen across the country due to covid and had no desire to get on a plane. This shop worked with me over the phone to setup appointment, and performed a very detailed PPI that found things wrong with the 911 turbo that I was purchasing, things i wouldve never found if I looked at the car myself. The report was 35 pages long with pictures of everything and comments. Gave me a bargaining chip and ultimately peace of mind to go through with the purchase. Norma in particular was great and worked with me till I was completely satisfied with the inspection. The PPI cost almost double what I saw quoted on most porsche forums, but these guys are top notch and you get what you pay for.

I have a 2000 VW Beetle which I drive only on my happy days. A couple years ago, my airbag sensor was broken, and I went back to Herzog Meier and 3 other companies to look into the matter, but only Heckmann and Thiemann had been able to fix it. They did not even tell me how hard it would be. I left the car with them and it was fixed. And prior to sending it to them, I have worked with 2 other companies to try to fix the problem, spent some wasted money too. So, I was truly impressed and pleased. My Beetle parts are beginning to be hard to find. So, I am very happy to have H&T.I used to go to Herzog Meier, but now I am going to use H&T for everything. Recently, I got my whole car checked and updated all the oils and battery and tires. I just love how detailed their diagnostic was, it comes with photos of every single issue I have, compared the colors of my oils, pictures of meters of their diagnostic tools and etc. This last service costs a lot, but very reasonable, and that is with keeping an older car. Love my little bug, so I have to pay the price.

Great place. Professional, friendly staff. I have owned two Jetta’s over then span of maybe a decade and always taken my car here, both locations. There was a one-off bad experience when a repair didn’t really fix my issue and caused some heartburn, but that was awhile ago and it really felt like an isolated incident from one particular person. I went back just recently and it was a very pleasant experience. Really cool shop, super friendly staff, and my car is running smooth.

The customer service at Heckmann & Thiemann is UNPARALLELED! 1) i feel like they care as much about my Scarlett (classic 77 pink VW bug that has been in my family since 77) as I do; 2) the amount and level of communication is phenomenal - emails with detailed inspection reports that include pictures and a call to follow up to go over the report with you, text messages with status changes. 3) every single person i have spoken to here has been extremely polite and professional; so refreshing and joyous! 4) the shop is immaculate! I am jealous of the front desk team that gets to watch those gorgeous cars roll in and out all day.

I had Heckann & Thiemann do a detailed inspection on a car I was interested in buying. Being that I am out of state, I couldnt see the car in person. They did the most outstanding inspection Ive ever seen! They took probably 40 pictures, pointed out any flaws and did a better job than I could have in person! I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

Had my Porsche Cayman S serviced by Heckmann &Thiemann Motors. Ended up with four different valve stem covers. They were different in color, size and shape. One was so large that you couldn’t thread it on to the valve stem you could only push it on. They damaged the carpeted motor cover. Pirelli P Zero tires should be inflated at 33psi. They had them inflated at 46 psi. Oil level was low by one quart. Had some curb rash on both front rims. They contracted the work out to a local shop. They did a good repairing it but weren’t able to match the color. Now the front rims don’t match the rear rims. Also had spark plugs and drive belt replaced. Can’t see what they did there but worry greatly regarding the accuracy of the work. That shop doesn’t pay attention to detail. Will never service my Porsche there again!

Its great to know a mechanic that I can trust. When my car needed service after business hours on a Friday night, H&T answered the phone, stayed late, and gave me a ride home. I have taken my 03 Audi A6 here for repair twice now and have had an amazing experience both times. Very friendly, Very knowledgeable and the quality of work is the best I have ever seen in an auto repair shop. Dont settle for some random auto repair shop like I used to, this place is the best in the city by leaps and bounds.

I took my 1998 Subaru to H&T when the engine continued to die while idling. The problem causing the stalling became quite a challenge and the entire team undertook heroic efforts to find and resolve the root cause. Over a two week period of time they spending many hours researching including reviewing online forums. They finally identified and resolved the issue. Despite the many hours invested, H&T was very fair in billling the labor to fix my Subaru. I was very pleased with their service and commitment and highly recommend them to anyone.

I had a frustrating experience with Heckmann Thiemann. It took them 5 weeks to complete the work, and communication during that time was poor. However, the real problem was that the clerk who I had worked with throughout the process seemed smug and dismissive. At pick up, he didnt bother talking to me or explaining what had been done, apologizing, giving an explanation etc. he just printed off an invoice, told me to sign then walked away. One person in the wrong job can cost you a customer, and thats what happened here. Its a shame because I think they do good work.

Ive taken my Volkswagen here and nowhere else ever since I got the car. At one point they had put my hubcap on incorrectly which caused it to fall off while I was on the highway, I called them and they did not hesitate to pay to replace it!However, since Ive taken my car here from the very beginning, you would think that they have some sort of computer system that tells them which scheduled maintenance they should be performing and have ALREADY done on a car. But last time I took it in for the 70,000 mile service (the odometer CLEARLY reading 69,500 miles) they performed the 60,000 mile service, even though they did the exact same service (60,000 mile) a few months prior. Ended up paying over $230 for something that should have cost around $50 or so.They are still a very good shop, just make it clear exactly what it is you want them to do!

Great VW shop in Portland. Ive been taking my VWs here for a couple of years now and have always had great service. Very professional staff. They take the time to explain any service my car might need and importantly leave the final decision up to me on what procedures I want done. I couldnt recommend this shop more.

These people are the best! The service and advice they provided for my aging 1995 eurovan camper saved me thousands and kept the vehicle humming like a young olympian. Great maintenance, great service, perfect. And they are super well connected to other subcontractors I needed, for the fridge and for the AC unit that both went out because of advancing age.

Took my VW to them to inspect and they did a great job. Even offered to have someone drop me off at work. They called me with the information about my car, e-mailed me an invoice of what they found upon request and had a print out for me to go over with them on site. They answered all my questions honestly and didnt pressure me into anything. I asked to be walked through some of the issues and their location and they were more than happy to do so. Overall my experience there was excellent though it can be on the more expensive side but the service does reflect that.

I drive a 2002 Boxster. Leaving work one Friday evening I dropped an axle. I didnt know it at the time but I knew it was loud and my car didnt work. I was looking for new mechanic and I called Heckmann-Thiemann. Friday night, 5:20 or so and they were closing at 5:30. They agreed that I could leave it there in their lot -or so I assumed, and they would have a look on Monday. The tow truck came and we made it across town arriving about 6:30 I guess. I was shocked that they were there waiting for me! Wow. Once again, its a 2002 Boxster, not exactly a $100K model. Their concern for my car and even how I was getting home without it was genuine and refreshing. With my car safely tucked in their shop for the weekend I was greatly relieved of that worry. At this point, though, I didnt know what was wrong and was fearing a big bill. They got to it in the next couple of days and found that the axle had, indeed, fallen off --probably because the previous mechanics had not torqued the bolts down. There was some complication due to the damage caused when falling but they handled it. My bill was completely fair and to reuse an adjective, refreshingly so. This shop is friendly, concerned for their customers, competent, and fairly priced and I will be happy to bring my car back here for future work. Beyond all that, I feel like they honored me and my car and that means something to me as I dont get that vibe very much, anymore.

Heckmann-Thiemann rebuilt the engine in my 66 912 in 1997 and its still running strong without a single issue. Best in the business - by far.

I had previously taken my VW to 2 other mechanics who could not resolve an annoying engine issue. Im so glad that I found Heckmann & Thieman! They resolved my vehicles problem on the first try. Also, the people in the front office are friendly and knowledgeable. Ill gladly go back there and recommend it to friends.

Ive got an 83 subaru that needed some help. The guys at H&T have helped me on a few issues and always been excited to work on my car and very reliable. I had some issues getting other mechanics to even make an appointment for my car because of its age. H&T scheduled me without any hesitation and replaced both of my front axles. I also took my car to them because of failed DEQ. They adjusted the Carb and timing, only to find a bat Cat. The recommended me to a muffler shop down the road and only charged me 45 bucks for the adjustment. The muffler shop they recommended was great too. Ill keep taking my car back.

Im a Volkswagen Vanagon owner and H&T was recommended to me by other Vanagon owners Ive met. Ive been taking our van there for about a year now and have had several major repairs performed. These guys have been working on Vanagons since they rolled off the showroom floors and they have been an incredibly valuable resource in keeping our van running.Its always nice to know that you have a good mechanic that you can trust to diagnose issues correctly and get the problems fixed.
