This review is for a new battery that Grand Central Watch installed in my Timex Ironman two years ago. They deserve five stars for quality, convenience and customer service -- but only one star for value, at least for low-end services like this. They charged separately for labor to replace the battery, bringing the total cost to more than $25 -- half the price of a whole new watch! This morning, it was time to replace the battery again on the same watch. I went to Mr. Juns, at 31st & Broadway. Sure enough, it cost just $10, and he was done before I could finish checking my email.

I brought them a watch id impulse bought the day before, I was worried maybe it was a replica. They had a quick authentication service and were extremely easy to work with. Highly recommend, maybe a bit expensive but you can have confidence in their work

There was a little bit of a snafu with delivery which I attribute to the COVID-19 shipping issues, but once my watch was in their hands they were consummate professionals. They did an excellent job, the watch works perfectly and looks like the day I received it. I would highly recommend them for repairs on Rolex watches. Thanks!

A little expensive, but you get what you pay for. I dropped my watch off for repair, and they kept me updated every step of the process, from ordering the part to fixing it, even though it wasnt a particularly expensive watch. I appreciated the care they took to make sure the repair was done correctly.

Highly recommend Downtown Watch Repair. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to check it out and get the battery on my Cartier watch replaced. Frank took care of it on the spot, in less than 5 minutes and the cost was only $15. Unbelievable, considering other repair places have charged me many times more for the exact same service. Go visit Frank. You wont be disappointed.

Fantastic customer service! I had a small problem with my watch which prevented me from wearing it (defective wrist band). Grand Central Watch fixed it for free for me. Granted, it wasnt a huge fix, but nevertheless - this is what great customer service looks like! Fast, competent and very very pleasant to deal with. Thank you!

I usually walk past this store but I decided to stop and purchase a watch for my husband because of the Christmas holiday. The staff was friendly and assisted me with finding a nice watch in minutes. I fell in love with my purchase so I had to go back and purchase another watch, but this second purchase was for my son. Thank you Crystal!

I just called & told them about it and they immediately took on the responsibility of fixing it up for free. They sent me paid return package for me to mail the watch into them. The whole movement needed replacement. In few weeks they mailed it back, freeee!

Took my watch in for what turned out to be a fairly easy fix (although I would never have figured it out myself) and the guys were very quick and straight forward with diagnosing the problem and giving me a fair price. I dropped it off and picked it up the same day. Excellent service and really nice guys.

From my only experience with them, I can tell that they are both great professionals and HONEST people. I took my watch to them that is really dear to me to get the battery replaced. I had taken it previously to a different watch repair shop, and I was told there that it was not the battery, and that my watch needed to be repaired. I then took it to Central Watch. These folks looked at my watch right then (no waiting time), replaced the battery and saw that the watch indeed still wasnt working, but they walked the extra mile by cleaning it out with some spray, and it worked! The store owner told me that had I taken it to a different place, I wouldve been told the watch was no good, which had been EXACTLY my experience. They didnt charge me an extra penny (although I offered), and their battery replacement charge was 25% lower than what I was quoted by that first place on Manhattan. If you want good professionals that you can trust and that will NOT rip you off, look no further. Theyre also very easy to find (right inside the Grand Station Terminal).

Long time patron whos bought several watches here over the last 5-10 years. Usually happy and go out of my way to come here. Owner and his sons are especially friendly. The employee working at the register now, though, is *horrible.* Probably competent but unnecessarily rude. Simply asked for a receipt as she rang me up. She didnt acknowledge so I repeated—hard to hear in the corridor—and the she just snapped, Im getting it. Similar experience while dropping off my watch last night—I didnt feel like she took the time to understand and make the adjustments/changes I wanted. Will probably go elsewhere next time and visit a jeweler closer to me.Update: Central Watch just called me to offer a discount on future service. Much appreciated—thanks so much!

Saturday, May 19, 2018If I could write a million words about Central Watch, it still might not fully explain how EXCELLENT they are. Owners of vintage luxury watches may know by now that they can no longer have them serviced at ultra high end chain stores like Tourneau. Instead, and this is VERY GOOD NEWS, they should bring their older luxury pieces to THE FINEST JEWELER IN NEW YORK CITY: Central Watch!!!The front of their shop is a very modest service window, and theres no Doorman like at Wempes, but none of that is needed here. These very nice people do not need to waste a lot of money on fancy decorations. They are absolute professionals who put all of their energy into servicing, restoring and repairing the greatest watches ever made. You may meet Ms. Murray, Steve, or any of the other wonderful people working there at the window. And theyre probably also able to restore newer watches and clocks.Several years ago, I made the mistake of trusting a jeweler named Aaron Faber to change the day window on a very early 1950s Rolex 6611. Aaron Fabers worked on this Rolex President for about 2 weeks. When I got the watch back from Aaron Fabers, the date numeral was now jumping 3 days ahead at midnight.Maria at Aaron Faber jewelers then, very disgracefully refused to take this watch back or offer any other compensation for the complete mess they made of the repair that I very sadly trusted them to complete.Maria treated this absolutely horrible repair job as just my bad luck that I chose to bring a world renowned Swiss timepiece to Aaron Fabers for repairs.I later went to a second jeweler who fixed the date numeral problem that Aaron Faber jewelers gave my watch, but now the display would very inaccurately change at around 12:05 a.m., and both the day window and date numeral would now quite frequently fail to properly center themselves.I then went through many, many years of regret about it all, and I very often contemplated just selling off this watch as a really unfortunate, very aggravating and extremely tragic loss. Then I got lucky!! I was parked in my car, waiting for my wife as she shopped on Steinway Street in Queens, and I was listening to an AM Talk Radio station. When the Announcer said Let me tell you about Central Watch. . .my ears got BIG, and I turned up the volume!!!When he said they also repair vintage luxury watches, I felt a very real sense of relief, and I immediately knew that I would come here one day.I also believe that serious customers need to know that they also need to be as professional as the amazing Watchmakers are at Central Watch. What do I mean by that? . . I mean dont keep nagging them with calls asking when the work on your watch is going to be finished!!!Drop off your watch, get your receipt, then let these extremely talented experts do what they do BEST!!!! I dropped off my heavily damaged Rolex in late February of 2018 and I picked it up yesterday, May 18, 2018. I never bothered them at all while they working on my watch. The results?? In a word: P E R F E C T I O N !!!!!!!!If Rolex were allowing customers to ship their watches to Geneva for repairs (Rolex is never going to do that) but if they did, the precision built into the repair I received at Central Watch is exactly as perfect as anything Rolex would have done to this watch!!!!!It feels really amazing to see this watch now running so powerfully, and so reliably!!!! I am very deeply impressed every time I see the results of what Central Watch was able to do to this timepiece!!Central Watch is a true New York City treasure! This is the finest Watchmaker in the United States. They have been in the same location for about 66 years, in a 115 year old building that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis herself cared very deeply about.I have no doubt that anyone who loves watches as much as I do is hoping theyll still be there 100 years from now.

It is the day after Veterans Day. I am a veteran (discharged 1946 Navy) so it is with regret that I contact you. about your service.Ar 5:39 today, after doing business in NYC I f I stopped at ypur booth to put my watch in for repair of a missing stem. Twoyears ago I brought you my very valued watch and you revived it with oil ect. You charged me $150,00 and I was happy to pay it.It has worked well since then and is my favorite item. It was given to me by my wife in 1954.Today I waited while you and your daughter served a together female who had los of orders to give. When she left you looked right over my head but finally understood I was next. I gave you my watch which was on a nylon strap and asked for a new stem. You tossed the piece back and forth like it was beneath you to even consider such a request. Then you handed it back summarily stating it would cost $200 00. I asked why and you stated it would have to be checked out. I balked and left.. from the very main reason I came to NYC today (a 2 hour ride each way at 84). I started in television in1951 and am one of televisions pioneers. I even had an office at Grand Central above the catwalks for CBS with Murrow, Kovacs etc.It seems that your recent publicity has given your company a deep overblown sense of self and youve chosen to avoid the important service senses that gave you your reputation in the first place...and have become players in New Yorks mobile world.Of course I will get my stem and you will never get my business again.Too bad
