Comfortable room, good location. My experience was good aside from waiting 45 minutes ( I needed to stay in line as no answer to call from my room!) several customers in front of me at front desk were upset - no rooms available after they had confirmed reservations, only one front desk agent working to handle all customers with no manager on site at the time of the chaos to assist).

I’m a travel nurse and had to stay here the whole summer. So naturally I became comfortable with some staff here. There were a few technical issues - elevators being down was the biggest one. But many of the staff are very good people. Nelson, Cassie, Roberto, Jason, Crystal, Ron and a few others. I watched many of them take intense verbal disrespect from several guests (I was disgusted to watch one ignorant “Karen” who literally mocked Crystal as she was trying her best to help her and solve the problem this past week) over minor inconveniences and they still kept their composure in tact. I would stay here again. They treated us nurses well.

Im a dedicated Marriott guy, but in this case, not so much.Unlike my recent stay at the Element property in Scottsdale, this NYC location is just depressing.Small rooms and facilities (typical of many Manhattan hotels), but also had an overcrowded feel. Especially in lobby, dining area and elevators (which underserved the building, usually a long wait).Despite my elite status, it took three requests over my first 24 hours to get housekeeping to address the dirty floor in my room (see photo for my recommended accessory, if you still plan on staying here). The rooms all have floors, not carpeting. The free breakfast is crowded and included fatty undercooked bacon. Yum!Small kitchenette is nice to have, and dogs are allowed.

The rooms are convenient for long business trips because it includes a kitchenette and daily breakfast starting at 7am. The best part is the breakfast service, they have constantly improved since covid-19 restrictions. When I checked in months ago they only offered sacked breakfast items, now they have a full service breakfast. I notice how much effort the breakfast crew provides to keep everything clean and well stocked. I have met Elaine who works as a cook and she always makes me feel welcome when I go down to have breakfast. She never fails to greet me everyday and encourages me to try their latest offerings. I would love to come back again to this hotel when an opportunity arises.

Good location. Good breakfast. Ultra small room. Standing in lines to catch an elevatorLiked · Well located. Equipped with full kitchenet and kitchen utensils. Bathroom is remodeled, nice and clean.Quite decent breakfast with very active and helpful staff of the dining room.Disliked · Rooms are ultra small. The elevators are a nightmare. People standing in lines in the lobby waiting 10 minutes for an elevator. You need to plan any Uber appointment some 20 minutes ahead of time in order to catch an elevator. The lobby is noisy and doesnt have a warm welcoming atmosphere.

Where do I begin. The hotel is very outdated and the rooms do not look as they do online. In need of some renovations. Took some time to check in and seemed as if everyone had an issue. Finally checked in went to take a shower lukewarm water. Found stains in sheets requested new room. Only 2 working elevators part of my trip. Small elevators at that packed because it’s a 40 floor building with 3 small elevators. New room did not have enough towels for 2 people. Requested for more towels 3 times before I received. Hallways dirty. Overall do not recommend.

Stayed for 6 weeks for a nursing contract. The staff were always attentive and would immediately bring anything I needed. Elevators can be pretty busy at certain times. I took stairs alot. Gym is bigger than most hotel gyms. Laundry available. Management were great when my contract was cancelled at the last minute and let me stay for a discount for as long as I needed to figure out my next step. They give you a drink or choice if you show them your steps after walking streets of NYC. Breakfast was hot everyday. And the kitchenette was the best part. My BF was able to make us some amazing dishes with just a stove top. Has full size fridge and freezer and the filtered tap water is a bonus. I love new York water.

I would have given the hotel more stars because the room was small but still a good size, clean and nice and the kitchen and bathroom were great...check in was also great with nice staff...but after I checked out they took $15 from my 75 room deposit without any explanation or bill email. I tried to reach the hotel but was on hold for an hour 3 different times. EDIT: I finally got through and they realized they had charged me the room tax from my deposit instead of when I paid as they normally do. The cs rep was nice but thats not the best biz practice to take money without explanation when I was told I was fully paid and was supposed to be included etc.? Clearly they made a mistake in how they charged it but then they shouldve said so at least via email so the customer isnt thinking theyve been deceived.

Its a good option for its price. Dont expect too much details but rather focus on price, room convenience (has kitchen microwave and dishwasher plus a pretty large refrigerator including a feezer). So if your are planning to walk a lot, be close to some of the key attractions and spend little (eating at the hotel). Then its a good choice ! Has gym.

Overall, the room was so/so. Over a three day stay, we had to request towels more than half a dozen times. The room service came on the second day and took them all without any replacements. They also turned off the air during a heat advisory for no reason. For some reason, they took the tops of our Tupperware and threw them out which was very wasteful. We got there and our phone didnt work, by the end it was still 50/50. The people were nice and room was relatively clean, just overall left a bit to be desired.

Bad service ... I had 4 days the same towels. The rooms have cleaning service only 3 days a week. I arrived on Friday, I asked for extra towels for my arrival and they would not give me any extra. Sunday morning I asked for new towels. When I came back in the evening, after a rainy day in my room there were no clean towels, so one more time I requested towels through the app, but no one appeared in my room. On Monday morning I asked for towels at the desk, before leaving and when I arrived in the evening, my room was clean but I didnt have any towels at all. The breakfast is good, the room was well equipped and clean, it is very sad that such problems have given me a bad experience here. the hotel should buy more towels and hire more people .... meanwhile i will recommend you to bring your own towel.

Cleanliness: appalling (dirt and waste behind and beneath furniture), customer service: poor and inefficient, housekeeping: outrageously bad (they changed our pillows for two tiny ones for no reason, left only one set of towels and were most unfriendly when asked for one more set). We stayed in this 2 queen bed room, and has kitchen in it. Fridge are huge like you can put groceries as much as you want. Stove and Microwave work properly. The bed itself is comfortable and clean. There is a desk if you need to work on your computer and also closet with iron too. Its like home! Especially if you travel with family or wanna share with your friends. The only thing annoyed me is just the drain in the bathroom did not work that well, but everything else is great. The staff are hepful but some off them just dont care. But I dont care I travel to NY several times and I basically know how to deal with New Yorker LOL.Overall is amazing. The room is quiet cause there is soundproof in the room. What can I say? Ive stayed from Tuesday-Sunday. The room was clean and tidy, bathroom was clean as well, sheets on the bed were made. Rooms comes with a good size refrigerator that comes in handy when staying for awhile. Theres a sink to clean the dishes they provide for you along with soap to help clean. Room was also provided with a desk for any sort of office work or for reading although it didnt come with a chair to sit at the desk with. Why I gave it three stars was because in the description of the website it had said the room was soundproof but our room was connected to another room through a door. The temporary neighbor was pretty loud especially whenever he slammed the door at night and the sound was heard. Through the connected door in our rooms we could hear him talking loud at times.whenever I took a shower the hot water would always come in first. Yes I like hot water but whenever I wanted a lukewarm shower the cold water would take some time to come which shouldnt be the case but it was.Overall, the stay was okay at best. Ive been here before other times and the experience was much better than this one. The hotel price per night is very affordable but beware of holidays where the price skyrockets especially booking last minute.

Unpleasure stay! The day before leaving the hotel a few security guards barged into our room. After a frightened scream, they quickly exited apologizing. Half an hour later (nearly 2am), the hotel’s landline rang waking us up. Upon answering the phone, an employee said he required our presence downstairs immediately in order to set our bills straight - it is worth mentioning that we had paid all our expenses the day before. The man went on to state that if we did not cooperate, the security guards would forcefully remove us from our room. My son approached the front desk and explained our situation. Even after recognizing our payments, the attendant requested our credit card in order to be sure we could stay. After returning to the desk with the card, the hotel’s employee stated that he alone had fixed their problem, and that there was no need to swipe the card. His justification to this whole event was that another employee had miswritten the data in the system. I am not sure whose mistake it was. Still, the hotel unfairly submitted us to an extremely humiliating and distressing situation.

My stay here on May 30, 2021 was disappointing. Here are the reasons in the order I thought of them:1. the elevator was a nightmare: the hotel workers always used one of the elevators, so there were only two available for all of the hotel guests. I had to wait 10-15 minutes each time to use elevator whether going down from or up to room on 9th floor2. wrong name on TV (Recardo instead of Ricardo) which was never corrected even asking two front-desk workers. I was told it was changed and that it would update after a short time. I checked the name when I left the next day and found that it was the same, wrong name as it was right after check-in.3. there was no phone in the room to contact the front-desk.4. once hot water was turned on with the cold water running, the cold water stayed hot even after the hot water was turned off.5. weird, passive aggressive attitude from the person who checked me in. At one point, she explained something both too quickly and too quietly, and I said gently that I didnt know what she was talking about, and she repeated with a passive-aggressive attitude that I didnt appreciate and found unprofessional.6. stale, hard bagels for breakfast which was the main dish in the breakfastI expected a lot more from my stay.

Ishmail would not discuss although his colleague Crystal managed to find us a room(dump!!) after waiting for 30 minutes. Please dont be fooled by the photos provided by the hotel website as they are misleading and deceptive. This was supposed to be a double room. The mattresses were so small that they didnt even fit the bed frame. Not to mention that the mattress was clearly in bad shape, check out the photos. The photos on their web page clearly shows 2 full to queen size mattress with 5 plus pillows. We had 2 pillows on each bed and 2 towels for a family of 4. The bathroom appeared to be updated but already showing serious signs of wear and tear. The breakfast was a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich only with a small selection of drinks. I would not recommend this hotel(hostel) to anyone and Marriott should consider either drop this property or doing some seriously quality and service standard improvements. When I got to the work key didn’t work and I herd someone in the room. Went down back to the receptionist which I had to wait in line again for. After a couple of minutes later the receptionist said she will make a call to room service to see if the room is occupied or not. She confirmed with the room service worker saying the room isn’t occupied she gave me back the key card. Went back to the room and tried the key card again and it worked but only to find out out people were occupying the room. Afterwards I head back down to the receptionist who showed no sense of urgency immediately went to the manager and explained what happened only to reassigned me a different room but didn’t say hey we will extend your time after wasting my time going back and forth. A surprisingly large and full featured hotel room in the heart of NYC. Just ten years ago a hotel room like this with kitchenette, full size fridge, breakfast served, modern bathroom, clean interiors and reliable Wi-Fi would be $300++. Instead, since the entire 39-40th street area is now packed with notable hotel chains, a room at well less than $200 makes this eminently reasonable and enjoyable. Yes, it is still next to Port Authority bus terminal so you will have your share of sketchy characters around but usually nothing dangerous. Lots of police around on 8th avenue. Great access to good bagel places nearby, the legendary B&H photo store and Hudson Yards. Parking at nearby garage is only $40 a night (yeah this is NYC) which is just a necessary evil on weekdays. But on weekends when the loading zones are all available for parking it is not that hard to find a free spot to defray the cost. Staff was professional and helpful even during the chaos of COVID. Elevators are fast and the front door requires keycard access and they always had a concierge/security out front.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and always accommodating to reasonable requests. My room had a stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave. Since I could cook and store food it made the stay that much easier and more economical as well as added to the feeling of being home. It is very conveniently located midtown with less than a 5 minute walk to Times Square. It is also about a minute walk to the port authority bus station, which has a subway stop for several trains. You are about a 10 minute walk from Penn Station, which is a major subway hub as well as Amtrak and the NJ transit line. There are several neighborhood restaurants and bars all within a few minutes walking distance that offer everything from burgers and fries to fine dining. There are also several international dining options - Italian, French, Asian, Pakistani, and African just to name a few. And for those on extended stays there are several grocery and convent store options within a few minutes walk so you can stock up on essentials. My Uber arrived so I rushed to it and took my phone with me but forgot about my iWatch. He ran outside with my iWatch letting me know that I left it in the lobby. What an amazing person! Kudos to him! I loved his honesty and service and for that and so many other reasons Ill stay there again whenever I go to NY! I hope management is able to see this message and recognize him! We need more people like him! IG: las.pellot

The junior suite was IMMACULATE and the girl at check-in was an angel and showed me extra attention since it was my birthday. So friendly, respectful and polite. There was a small issue with me leaving my shoes and it was said to be in lost and found but when I went to pick them up they were nowhere to be found. After speaking to the housekeeping manager she felt bad and gave me a full refund AND said whenever I come back to call for HER and she will make sure I get one of the best rooms (as if I already didnt have one 😍). So I know where Im taking my daughter as a graduation gift 🙌🏾👩🏾‍🎓

The room was crisp, clean properly lit, great kitchenette, fridge no issue. Would like a smart tv that i could mirror too. I had a tv which had apps but i needed to already have been a member of those apps. The bathroom was so clean and after use, easy to clean. Its nyc. You really cant make the outside so great since you only have limited space of a front to do so. So its not great, but its a trick. Walk in and boom a really nice couchful lobby. Its not lounge like since lighting is at an operable level, but a better welcoming feel then that of other hotels both private and franchise chained.

The place looks a bit ugly in the front and a lot of people hang in the front but the rooms were very nice and clean. The front desk staff was a bit moody but it wasnt nothing I couldnt overlook. Theres a fridge and stove inside so you can store things and they serve breakfast in the morning. The price was reasonable. I will definitely be staying here again.

This was my first time in an Element brand hotel (although I am a regular guest at Marriott family of hotels and Westins). I was so very impressed with the genuine friendliness and hospitality of the staff at this location and I will definitely recommend it to all that I know who may travel to NYC. In such a city that gets so many tourists, service in hotels and restaurants can be a bit lackluster a lot of the time (Im sure the industry gets their fair share of jerky and demanding travelers), but everyone I came in contact with at Element NY Times Square West was such a pleasant and helpful person. And then the little surprise touches like the wine/beer and snacks reception M-Thurs and the really fantastic buffet breakfast each morning were just icing on the cake. Likewise, the room was well-appointed and had enough towels daily (a real pet peeve of mine) and was really quite spacious for an NYC room indeed – plus it even had a small kitchenette in the room! And finally, I loved the extra surprise and delight from one of the male front desk staff who so kindly told my mother, Its on me! when she went to buy an iced tea after a long day of touring around the city. Such a sweet gesture and just overall, this staff truly drives home the feeling that you are a valuable and appreciated customer. I can also say this with utter certainty because I have stayed just 350 feet west of Element on 39th at a competitors chain hotel and their staff had that Im forced to be nice, but Im really just being passively condescending to you feeling whenever you talked to them (and their property was dated, rooms were small and a bit shabby/not sparkling clean). Element wasnt anything like that at all! It was really a treat to stay here and I plan to explore more of this brands locations in the future for sure. Well done to the NY Times Square West location! (and p.s., if you have the time when there, they offer a lovely fitness center, including yoga classes and even a few free loaner bicycles to take out in the city – so neat!)
