Joyce was very friendly and helpful, and my bridesmaid dress turned out perfectly. She talked with me about all the alterations before starting work on them, and checked in with me at multiple fittings to make sure we were on the same page. At one point, my shoe choice changed, requiring a change in the hem of my dress - which she was able to handle easily. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back/recommend Joyce to my friends!

For all brides looking for a seamstress in the Madison area, go anywhere else but Bridals by Joyce. I brought my wedding dress to Joyce in March of 2020 before the pandemic hit. At that time, she said that she would contact me in April/May to provide an update on it. Of course, with the state of the world, I figured she would need more time and since I didn’t receive a call in April/May, I waited to call in June to see how things were going with my dress. She said she should have it ready for a fitting in early July. Early July comes around and no contact. I call her in mid-July and she sets an appointment up with me at the end of July for my first fitting. It was not ready. I felt fine about it as there was still plenty of time to get the alterations set. At this time, she says she should have it ready for another fitting in early August. I chose to wait for her to reach out to me this time. It is now early September and I have now allowed an extra month for her to finish her work from late July to be ready for my second fitting. I had to call again to check on status of my dress and she said by mid-September she should have the adjustments ready for another fitting. An hour later though, she calls back and says she can no longer work on my dress. In other words, my seamstress quit on me with a month and a half left before my wedding date. I chose to go to her shop soon after her call to pick up my dress and request my $100 deposit back, which she then says is non-refundable. Although understandable if I had quit on her, however, she had just quit on me and the job was not finished. In fact, she had not made any more adjustments since my first fitting in late July and I feel that she had damaged my property, because she left holes in the fabric but claimed it looked better than what it was before, and then basically stole my money. I expressed my disappointment in person, asked her if she could show me what she had done so far with the dress, and requested my $100 back. She proceeded to tell me that I was rude on the phone, which I wasn’t, and that she does not need to tell me what she had done with the dress, and that I needed to leave or she would call the police. When a person is hired to do and finish a job for a very important occasion in a person’s life, you expect and trust that they will get that job done. She provides ZERO communication, ZERO customer service, ZERO empathy, and deserves ZERO stars. With everything going on in the world and already choosing to cancel our wedding without even our immediate families in attendance, I was hoping that my dress was one thing I could hold onto, but Joyce ripped that from me too. This was really my fault, and she definitely made me feel like it was, as I had a feeling from the start that she was not going to be right. Do yourself a huge favor and take the extra time to look for a 100% better seamstress.

My typical code of conduct is not to shed poor light on a small business on the internet so it is with a heavy heart I find myself with no choice but to leave this poor review. I’m not sure my Fiancee and I have ever personally experienced such a lack of communication, professionalism or human decency amongst any merchant or vendor in the way we have with Joyce.My Fiancee took her wedding dress to Joyce in March of 2020 prior to the pandemic and was told she would hear back some time in April or May with an update. April and May had both come to pass and we had no communication from Joyce but given how the state of the world had changed so quickly we figured she needed more time to sort everything out. Our wedding is in October so at this point we weren’t too worried. June had rolled around and still we hadn’t had any communication from Joyce. My Fiancee reached out to Joyce to see how things were going to which Joyce said she could have her come in for a fitting in early July. We received no communication from Joyce to set this appointment so my Fiancee again had to reach out to see when she would be available for a fitting. My Fiancee called back and an appointment for a fitting was set for the end of July. It’s now the end of July, the time my Fiancee was scheduled to have her fitting, and the dress was “not ready” but that she should be available for a fitting in “early August”.We waited for Joyce to reach out again and the whole month of August came and went with no communication from her. My Fiancee called Joyce at the very beginning of September. A fitting was scheduled AGAIN for mid september, less than one month before our wedding. Tensions are now high as Joyce received the dress back in March and everything is coming down to the wire. An hour later my Fiancee received a return call from Joyce informing her that she will no longer be working on her dress...a month and a half before we are getting married… after being in possession of the dress for 6 months. My Fiancee went to pick up her dress from Joyce last week and it was cut with holes in it. Clearly she started working on it and stopped midway through and decided she would no longer continue working on it. When my Fiancee asked about her $100 deposit Joyce told her that the deposit is “non-refundable”. When pressed further about the deposit and while in tears, my Fiancee was threatened directly by Joyce that if she didn’t leave she would call the police. Unfortunately for Joyce this is not legal nor moral to do. If someone brings you a dress that you agree to work on you can’t decide to stop working on it and keep the deposit. We didn’t quit on Joyce, she quit on us, cut up my Fiancee’s dress and expected to keep the money we paid her to finish the dress. When my Fiancee asked Joyce to at least show her what she had done to the dress her response was “I don’t have to show you anything.” My Fiancee left Joyce’s shop in tears with a cut up wedding dress, down her $100 deposit at the threat of having the police called on her.2020 has been an outright mess of a year. Our ceremony with friends and family has been reduced to a small gathering with my parents and my Fiancee’s parents, no friends, no other family. The bright spot in all of this for my Fiancee was that she would still be able to wear her dream dress on the day we were married. Uunfortunately that was ripped away from her too.As I stated previously, never have we experienced a lack of professionalism, lack of communication and lack of human decency like we have with Joyce. This review deserves zero stars, Joyce earned it.

I just had my wedding gown altered by Joyce for my May wedding. She responded quickly to my emails, she was flexible with appointment times and a pleasure to work with! She did a lot on my dress, I was scared at first, but I trusted her and she made it even more beautiful. She took my straps in, shortened my dress and added a french bustle. She certainly knows her stuff and her pricing was great. I am very happy with the results and cant wait to wear my dress in May! Thanks so much Joyce, it was great meeting you and working with you. I highly recommend going to Joyce, and I will bring all my future alterations to you.

I bought my wedding dress at Brandi’s but because I live out of state I was unable to make their strict alteration schedule of Monday-Thursday. I chose Joyce because she was reasonable, personable, and had years of experience. I’m so glad I did. I had a complicated train that needed to be bustled and she made it look absolutely natural with button placement. She made the dress fit easier by adding elastics for certain buttons that we’re starting to fall off (designer issue). I received so many compliments on my dress and part of that is due to Joyce. I would recommend calling her vs. email, she was very responsive over the phone. I’ve already recommended one of my friends to her and will continue to do the same to others!

Joyce did my wedding dress and custom made me a veil. The whole process was great and very painless. Prices were really reasonable. She also has done several bridesmaid dresses for me and my sisters. My Mom has used Joyce for a couple mother of the bride dresses too! Amazing work. Definitely recommend!!

Joyce is a true professional and perfectionist! When my daughters wedding dress arrived far too big, we were very worried! Joyce took off an entire 8 inches around her dress to make it fit flawlessly! Can you imagine? Thank you, Joyce, for making my daughter look like a dream in her dress!

She did my alterations for my bridesmaids dress for my sisters wedding, her price was very reasonable!! She was so friendly that I went back to get a skirt for the holiday season hemmed by her. Highly recommend her! I could never picture her scamming someone, by charging an unreasonable price, as another reviewer said.

Update 7/15/2016 I would like to thank the owner of this business for returning my call today. The owner did apologize as she works alone and was very busy and does not feel that it is fair that I trashed her here on Google. I don’t believe I am trashing her or her business, as I am just sharing my experience. I told her I felt that she hung up on me because she thought I was a solicitor (She gave no comment) I asked if she would have hung up on me had she thought I was a client, all she could say is that she was very busy in the middle of a fitting. She did ask what I needed help with and I told what it was, and I had already obtained the help I needed. I’m raising this to a two star from a one because the business did return my call. This review has everything to do with the customer service of the business and nothing to do with the services it provides.The only advice I can give the business owner is that it would be better to let your phone go to voice mail than to answer and hang up on a potential client. I wish this business well in the future.7/14/2016 I called this business today and was very nice; I was looking to get some help. I advised the person on the phone of my name and the company I work for. (Which has a large home office in Madison). I was using the name of the company I work for as a connection, since I was calling from Indiana. I was not given the opportunity to advise the person the reason for my call, I was put on hold for a second and the lady came back to the phone and was extremely rude and told me she was very busy and did not have time hung up on me. I called back and no one answered. I left a message on the answering machine advising of my experience. I cant imagine treating what could have been a potential client in such a manor. I will be praying for this person that they are able to get caught up on their work to where they can think twice before they treat the next person that calls in such a manor. Hoping I can find the help I need elsewhere..

I went to see if Joyce would be able to alter my wedding dress for my wedding in August. I walked in and I was not greeted, she did not smile. She also did not ask me to sit down even when a table was in front of us. (We talked at the door). I had read the positive reviews and was excited for her to help me out, but she really did not seem interested.

Joyce did a wonderful job on my wedding dress. She was so friendly and did the job quickly. Her price was lower than what I was quoted by the store where I bought my dress. I would highly recommend her.
