We were referred to Hotboys through our home warranty for our ac/heat pump. I must say what an excellent company this is to work with. From the owner (Joe), to the office staff (Megan), and the tech that came out (Chris).... They were all very professional and beyond helpful. Especially getting the home warranty to cover what they were supposed to. No issues whatsoever with the installation. Something was wrong with our old thermostat, we called and Chris came out right away to hook the new one up. Will definitely be using them again. Dont let any of the negative comments sway your opinion. They are GREAT!!!! Got Boys came out to fix my AC and they replaced a part. That part did not fix the issue so the owner himself came out to reassess. He diagnosed the issue and had the guys come back out 2 days later with a significant discount. I love a company with integrity!

I would give 6 out of 5 stars if I could. I was originally referred to Hotboys through my home warranty service to repair my attic water heater. When the warranty service had trouble procuring the item over the weekend, Joe did his best to help me work with the warranty company. His service and overall attitude was superior and highly professional. I felt like he bent over backwards to make sure I was satisfied with the job both in timeliness and quality. The value of his service was top notch. He even gave me some advice on some other projects that I was considering doing myself. Will certainly use his services again.

We have used them twice now in the middle of the summer. Both times theyve gone above and beyond to help us out. Best price, best customer service, and by far the best ac company in the Hampton Roads area.

I have been using Hot Boys AC for a couple years now. Joe and his crew are the best. They showed up when they said they would and the work they did was outstanding. Joe was very knowledgeable and straightforward with what he found. My outside compressor was fried. They came back the next day and replaced my compressor unit and the prices were well within reasonable standards. Actually, they were a bit cheaper than others I had called. Even if they hadnt been cheaper I would still have used them because of the concern and knowledge.Thank you.

And it cost thousands of dollars less than other contractors we spoke with.Joe is super passionate about heating and cooling and gave us a ton of options that were energy efficient and perfect for our house. Joe came out first thing on a Sunday morning to do the work. He didn’t have the parts on hand so he went out and got them right away. I will have them do any other work that comes up at my house. They aren’t advertised as being plumbers but they do great plumbing work.

My experience with Hot Boys dates back to Feb 2017 when I had them come out to sevice my AC unit via a home warranty Company. The technician was friendly and I thought he had resolved my problem as the AC unit begin to blow cold air afterwards. Fast forward 3yrs later to today when I had another local contractor come out to inspect my AC unit for the same reason. What he found was that when the Hot Boys technician came out in 2017 to service the unit he switched my unit to Aux heat during his sevice and never switched it back to the main system. The problem is Auxiliary heat can handle more extreme temperatures since it uses electric heat strips. What this means, unfortunately, is that its more expensive than the conventional heat provided by a heat pump. What does that mean for me? For the last three yrs my electrical bill has been mysteriously high without explanation until today. I am extremely upset because there is no way in knowing how much extra money I have paid out for my ultility bill due to this error and lack of quality service. I called both the home warranty service contracter and Hot Boys to make them aware of this. I have not had a return call from Hot Boys at this point. And I will await to hear what they have to say about this. Word of advice do not pay your money for a home warranty service when you have no way in knowing or choosing your service provider hence you never know what type of service you will receive. Lesson learned for me, unfortunately!!

Do not go or do any business with this business. The guy came to my house literally didnt do anything. Wrote that he did and I had to pay 95 dollars for that. Had to get some one else from another company to double check and it was free. I plan on getting them put on the black list for taking advantage of their customers and military personnel.

I am very pleased with the service we received. I contacted the warranty company to have a potential issue fixed with my mothers air conditioning unit. The first company never contacted us and the warranty company later connected us with HotBoys. Our information was received immediately and the person answering the phone was very pleasant. The next appointment available was for the next day with a promise to call 30 minutes prior to arrival. The technician called 30 minutes prior to arrival which saved me from having to lose time from work myself. He listened to what our concerns were and began to diagnose the issue. He explained very thoroughly what I was seeing that prompted the call in the first place along with the planned repairs. He was very courteous and respectful!! The repairs were finished very quickly and we began to feel a difference in the cooling not long after the work was completed. I would highly recommend this company for your heating and cooling needs.

Just when you think great service is dead, the Hotboys come to the rescue! Heat went out on Saturday during a snow storm, they came out on Sunday and installed an entirely new system in less that 24 hours. To top it all off the price was as good as the service! Well done Joe and Team

We were referred to Hotboys through our home warranty company. We had experienced months of setbacks with the home warranty company and our claim to replace our HVAC. The owner of Hotboy’s, Joe, stepped up and personally helped us above and beyond what we expected. His front office staff was responsive and timely as well. The contractors who came to do our job, Drew and Chris, were also professional, knowledgeable and courteous. As a consumer and insurance professional I very much recommend Hotboy’s as a company.

My HVAC system went down when some of the coldest temperatures of the year were approaching and Hotboys saved the day! Within 24 hours Joe, the service tech, fixed the issue and did it with class. He took his time to explain what he was doing and what caused the issue. I was skeptical when I saw their rating but I dont believe that there couldve been better service provided to me on that day. They were very professional & very helpful, from the technician to the owner himself! They did not actually fix the issue due to the home warranty company, but I would recommend them to anyone, on their customer service alone!

I cannot say enough great things about Hotboys Heating and Air.When my family and I lost our oil heat during the cold snap back in Feb., and we called our Home Warranty Company, I thought we were going to get another runaround like we always have. They contacted Hotboys for us to come out and get us heat.Jackie was the first contact we had with the company when we lost heat. As tight as the companies schedule was with service calls and other work, she made sure to fit us in the schedule as it was bitterly cold during those days and we were heating our 100+ year old farmhouse the best we could using our fireplace burning non-stop. She continued to be a great person to deal with throughout the whole process.Joe (the omwner of Hotboys) came out that Tuesday afternoon, and after seeing the issues with the system, let me know that no matter what, he would have heat for us before he left, and he did after working on the system for a good 5 hours. The determination and knowledge that he showed was very impressive, as well as his friendly and outgoing personality making me feel confident that we would have a solution and heat. He ran a temporary line so the fuel oil could get to the tank due to the existing line being frozen up into the tank causedby a blocked inside of the structure. In doing this he became drenched with fuel oil, and as cold as it was, continued to make sure he could get us heat.He explained that the company who was at our house previously had put in the wrong nozzle , and that he would adjust it so that the system was safe while the correct nozzle was being ordered.He also contacted the insurance company on our behalf to have approved a “permanent” fix to the lines, as the insurance company was denying our claim. This allowed the ordering of parts to so that the job could be completed.Marcus came out to the house next and did all the installation of the new line. He was out there in the cold digging up everything and getting it ready to be completed. I talked to him a few times during the day as I was at work to see if he needed help moving the tank back, or anything in general, but he stated he was fine. He called me when he had completed everything he was able to do in order to explain where we were with the permanent repair, and assured me that Hotboys would be back in no time to finish the project. He was very professional, cordial, and overall courteous to me on the phone and to my wife when he spoke to her. This was the opposite of the other company who had previously serviced the equipment, as they were rude, not friendly and overall, do not have the demeanor to be in the service field.Josh came out a few days later to finish the project and make everything the way it should be. He finished the final connections, replaced the nozzle with the appropriate one to not only make the system safe, but decrease the amount of our fuel consumption. He made sure the tank after being reconnected to the new line was level and secure. He regraded the dirt, cleaned the area, and made everything look exactly the way it was before we had any issues. He explained tomy wife and myself everything that had been done, talked to us about continued service, and just made us feel good about the whole experience. He also was very professional, friendly, and courteous.Overall, I cannot say enough about “Hotboys”. Joe had told my wife and myself that he only hires the best, and after dealing with all of the folks we had contact with, has undoubtedly proved this. I highly recommend “Hotboys” to anyone who needs work on their system or needs a new one. The excellence of the company’s service was very refreshing, and serves as a compliment to not only Joe, but to the entire staff and I cannot thank them enough.

If I could give 10 stars - I would! To meet our house closing agreement, my husband I contracted Hotboys, Inc to replace our HVAC system. At this point in time, we were already living in another state and unable to physically be there for any quotes/installations. Hotboys, Inc took a lot of time walking us through the process and explaining all things HVAC to us. I truly believe they gave us an excellent price point. Additionally, they were very flexible with installation times and dates given our desire to close quickly on our home. They are very quick to respond via phone or email. Honestly I expected the HVAC replacement process to be a headache and Hotboys could not have proved me more wrong. If you want a quality HVAC installation and dont want to deal with a huge headache - call Hotboys, Inc!

Wanted to charge $300 to add freon, but didnt check for a leak. Difficult to schedule and slow to respond to messages. These guys came out right away when I was having trouble with a previous HVAC company and my home warranty company. They were straight forward and gave me all the options to fix or replace my heat pump system. After deciding to replace the system, they worked under tight conditions in my crawl space and extra hours to get us up and running by the end of the day. Then when the outside unit was making some strange noises, they were back within 24 hours to check on it.Whether you need repair, a new system or check up to your HVAC I would recommend calling Hot Boys. Even the owner was gracious enough to call me at one point when I had a question.

--------------------------DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY--------------------------------Hotboys advertises that they relentlessly pursue “providing incomparable service and attention to detail.” They also indicate that they “use only the most streamlined methods to reduce expenses, while delivering top notch service”; a claim they openly publish on their website. In my case neither statement was true. My residential air conditioning system was inoperable for 16 days during the month of July 2018 while Hotboys ineptly provided that “incomparable service and attention to detail” they so proudly proclaim. It took them 2 days to schedule the first visit to my home once notified by my home warranty company of the service requirement. They then arrive on the scene and initially assess that the unit needs to be replaced. Joe Guillory, the President and Owner, of Hotboys Heating and Air Conditioning then interceded and assured my home warranty company, that based on his years of experience, a total replacement of the air compressor unit was not required that replacing the fan motor and associated blades was all that was required. Three visits to my home later, it was determined that the total replacement of the compressor was indeed required since the damaged unit’s blades had impacted the copper coils and all refrigerant was lost. After almost a week, the inept systems diagnostics of the onsite technicians, and then the “expert” opinion of Joe Guillory delayed the repair and replacement of the failed air conditioning system components. Joe Guillory completely failed this customer. A new compressor was ordered by the Home Warranty company since Joe Guillory said he had no access to a compressor from local suppliers. The part arrived on a Friday. I received a call from Hotboys indicating that they had received the part but that the first available appointment for installing the new compressor was the following Tuesday; four days after they had the part in hand. So much for Hotboys advertised 24/7 availability and response effort. Hotboys also charged me a disposal fee in connection with their work on my property. Interestingly enough, they then took advantage of the ready access to my trash can to dispose of some of the refuse generated during the course of their work. They also took advantage of the area around the trash can to leave other items from the replaced compressor unit that did not quite make it into the trash can or in the other items they may have hauled away for disposal. I will be sending a bill to Joe Guillory for $200.00. That is my disposal fee for using my trash can and yard as the repository for the trash and debris that they did not “dispose of” properly. I will also bill them $50 for the cleanup of the upstairs hallway where the technician accessed my attic to effect the repairs and left insulation and other tracked in dirt and debris on the carpeted hallway.

Do NOT use this company for anything. Worst customer service possible. Had a work order to fix my A/C, after four days I had to contact them to find anything out. When they did finally get out, had to order parts to which they told me it would take 5-7 days and they would be back out to install the parts and finish the job. On day 7 I had to call them again to get an update, nobody there could even find information about the ticket, I called daily until I finally got in touch with the manager who told me it would be another 4 days before they could come out to finish the job. 19 days total without A/C, should have taken under a week to fix. Manager has no respect for customers, was very rude to me, and hung up on me because she couldnt answer my questions.

I got home from vacation recently to find that my A/C was out. I did a search for A/C repair, and came across Hotboys. I read the reviews to see how satisfied people were prior to calling. I called hotboys, the phone rang at least 15 times before someone answered. I was told that I would get a call back from the technician with an unknown timeframe. Needless to say, that phone call never came. The only reason why this company got a 1 star from me was because I couldnt go any lower. If you are having A/C problems I would highly suggest calling A&B A/C Heating & Refrigeration, they were at my house withing 30 minutes of me calling.

Hotboys misrepresented costs associated with job and this was the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a HVAC contractor. I will not do business with them again and definitely warn others because they do not do what is right for customer. I will be reporting Hotboys to Better Business Bureau and 10 on your side to hopefully alert others of their bad business practices.
