The business Budget has always been good.Wednesday I made a reservation to pick up a car within the hour. I walk into Budget introduced myself saying I have a reservation (saw cars outside). I couldnt finish my sentence before the agent cut me off saying there where no cars. The app was wrong. I said okay and sat down to regroup and summons a Lyft. But she kept telling me over and over again. She made a call to someone telling them I was there and she told me there werent any cars. Very unprofessional woman. I dont know what her problem was - I wasnt going to cause a scene or a problem. But something crawled around her neck. I was not going to wait outside in the heat to wait on my lyft ride.Its interesting how nice and friendly she was to the white couple already there when I walked in the door. Her disposition sure did change.

This place is horrible, they have hidden fees. If you keep the car an extra hour they charge you $70+. It’s by far the worse company i have ever rented from. They say to bring the car back as clean as it currently is. Noooo, that’s your job crazy. This place needs new management, new employees, a whole new roster and model. Please avoid it if you can.

Its a shame you cant give this place 0 stars cuz this is the absolute worst place Ive ever dealt with. I got the truck and by the time I get home the gas door has flown off. (I was charged for that even though it was not my fault. Then after they charged for everything they wouldnt release my money so the bank could put it back into my account. When I called them about this problem no one had any answers for. Told me it would take up to weeks. Its been 4 weeks and Im still waiting for my money. I will never use this again. Worse experience ever.

Reserved a car for next day and pre-payed online. Then find out, even tho they already my money, they needed an utility bill with my address and wouldnt accept aarp discount or insurance. If you like jumping thru hoops, Rent a car from here. None of this was stated on website.

It was a straight forward transaction. Employees were polite. Yet again, they didnt have the reserved vehicle available. They put me in a GIANT Dodge Ram pick up that averaged 13 miles per gallon. Seriously? That seemed reasonable to them? Gasoline cost me more than the vehicle rental. I barely drove the gas guzzler. Anyway, business side was as expected. Id recommend.

I will never do business with this business ever again. From someone who has a need for a rental car on nearly a monthly basis, I have never had such an awful experience. From the car I rented being given to the person in line ahead of me as a “complimentary upgrade” to then being given a compact car for my “full size” rental, to then have the clerk tell me, “we’re sorry ma’am, but we are out of cars in the class you rented!”

Better make your reservation 6 months in advance, because apparently one month isnt long enough!I made a reservation for a 26 truck to move from one house to another. On the morning I was to pick up the truck, I called to confirm that we are all set. I was informed that a 26 truck wasnt available and I would be getting a 16 truck! A 16 truck to move out of a 2000+ square foot house?!The representative said there was nothing that could be done. Needless to say, this wasnt something I wanted to experience on an already stressful moving day.So, if you want a company that knows how a reservation works... one that can actually TAKE a reservation and HOLD the reservation, give UHAUL a call. Dont use Budget!

Overall good experiences here. Be aware that you must have proof of address on a bill, etc if you plan to use a debit card and to their credit they do a good job of letting you know that ahead of time. Staff has been friendly and personal.They do not pressure you to buy their insurance as I have experienced at other car rental companies such as Enterprise. I do plan to use Budget again in the future.

Ive rented from here on a few occasions and have always had a great experience. The staff are exceptionally nice and helpful. No hidden surprises nor hidden charges which is a plus. My last two vehicles were absolutely great, clean, and perfect running. Very much recommend. (Plus you save a ton of money over renting at the airport)

Tom was kind and patient enough to take time and effort the check the tire tread and call the roadside assistance for me. I appreciate his help and support.

I have rented from this location several times over the last 6 months. It started as just being very convenient for me, but it has become my go to place due to the level of customer service I receive. Anytime that I call, the folks there are quick to get me an answer, and always do what they can to help me out. The rentals are always ready for me, and anytime that I have needed to change things around, folks are willing to work with me and do what they can. I will not rent from anywhere else!!

THE WORST PLACE EVER! The Mgr was beyond unprofessional, poor customer service, rude, disrespectful, and downright inconsiderate. These peppke dont care. Change rules at blink of eye completely different than website states. Truly difficult to try and work with. The woman has no business being mgr. And she will do everything to rip you off! Do not even attempt to think Budget implies its name- it does not! Wonder how they stay in,business? Awful experience. Left me stranded refusing to work with me at all. One employee laughed saying I shouldnt get mad proceeding to remind me when they close. Very unprofessional. Ive seen dogs more professional than this- even homeless people are more customer service aware than these two twits I saw. Ridiculous.

Sitting at Budget now waiting waiting waiting for to get assistance to get my rental and get into the office and they have 1 person working the counter. Multiple people waiting, obviously multiple reservations, why would you staff one person. Poor lady at the desk is nice and attentive but management should work on their staffing skills. Ill rent with Enterprise next time, there are always plenty of people ready to help.

The truck that I reserved was not available at the place I was supposed to pick it up from. Was told to call customer service so I did. I was hung up on twice when it transferred to an agent. The third time, when it was transferred, I got a busy signal. The incompetence of this company is outstanding. The employee at the place of pick-up actually referred me to Uhaul... I mean really? So, two hours of my time wasted to come away with nothing. Sadly, they now have my credit card info. If I get charged so much as a cent, I will blow a gasket! Never never never use this incompetent company.

My experience was not very delightful due to the fact that I had to drive about 30 minutes away to pick my vehicle. During that time I was in need of a vehicle due to emergency purposes. I had to take family to another state and needed an SUV for seven passengers. During my phone call with customer service I was happy they had what I needed. Once arrived to the location my vehicle changed i understood that vehicles can change at last moment but still they had a problem with my age, I am 24 with a (good credit) credit card and also a military member and still I was not able to rent my reserved vehicle. I was not told through the phone about any age limits on vehicles. I understand the rules and regulations of companies IF! they are told on time so I can acknowledge. In this case I was not told on time. Thankfully HERTZ car rental company helped me, within minutes I received my SUV and age also mattered with HERTZ BUT, thankfully they let me know on time with a small underage fee that I can still rent the vehicle. It all comes down to lack of communication.

I am so deeply disappointed with what will be my last experience with Budget who I was almost always exclusively rented through. To start that 1-800 customer service had incorrect information regarding rental requirements for the location that I rented from...which they moved my rental TO from KCI to fit the requirement. Thats sound confusing. I was using a debit and the airport required a credit card. So they moved my reservation to North Oak because they did not. When I Got to the location the woman behind the counter started to process the rental and when u told her that I did not have a credit card she shut down. She flat out told me that I could rent the car...which is fine, but that was not what I had been told even calling the 1-800 number they repeated the same info that I was given before. No cc needed. After 4 hours of back and forth, multiple calls to customer sevice..I literally had an anxiety attack while speaking with her and had to have my husband to go get my medicine...and she did not flinch, ask if I was okay..or anything. One women offered to do whatever she could to help (after speaking with 6). A pleasant mid aged (sounding ) black woman. She was very helpful and even offered to speak to the to rep who I was store with. The women in the location with me was till hoarse and mean. The woman on the phone asked for the district managers name so that she could contact him so that could get the systems updated with correct information. Even still, she was short and acted like the whole situation was a bother to her. I called in my friend (who is white) to come up and rent the car. When she arrived...the woman WHOLE demeanor changed. She was pleasant and welcoming...I was livid. She processed the rental with my friend with kindness and care. Once we left, my friend mentioned how unfair it was that she was treated so good because she is white. When I returned the vehicle I spoke with a manager and her seemed very kind and concerned. He apologized and even hugged me...this experience was hurtful to say the least.

I used my card to rent a car here 10 months ago. Rented and returned it. No problem. Paid and didnt have any complaints. Went to do it again and was told that my card isnt accepted. That someone new must have taken it before and thats its different now. I had a vacation planned to go see family. Now me and 3 kids dont have a car to drive. Thanks for making me cry budget! I double checked when I made the reservation and even called to verify what I needed. The Manager who called to verify the reservation an was very rude, and kept blaming past employees that must have been doing their jobs wrong. And kept stating everyone else was wrong. She was right, and wouldnt take my card.

Made a reservation on their website a month in advance. Just called to confirm my reservation a week in advance and they state they dont have a reservation under my name or with my reservation number that was provided BY BUDGET RENTAL!They put me on hold for 25 minutes while trying to come up with an excuse as to why my reservation wasnt in the system. Then they told me I had to call the actual location to confirm. Which is the Gladstone, MO location - and the exact phone number that I dialed. So, I got ANOTHER number from the foreign man who stated he was located in Mexico City, and called that number. It once again went to the same voice message system that answered when I dialed the physical phone number the last time.I will be driving down to Budget Rental today to speak to the people at the office. Lord help them as this has been a ridiculous experience!

I use Budget Car and Truck Rental when I need to. My experience with Budget has been good. I would rate the assistance while traveling at 5 🌟, while the counter experience varies by location. Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Main Lindbergh Terminal I would give 3 🌟 at best. Kansas City KCI I would give 4+ 🌟. Dallas- Fort Worth 3+ 🌟.

Probably worst over the phone experience I have ever had. Just needed a few SIMPLE questions answered, but after calling over 8 different times and not being patched through to anyone, I was becoming very impatient. Not a single person near Kansas City could even answer a phone.. The automated prompt made this experience even worse. Finally had to figure out a different way to get connected to a representative somehow to get 3 little questions answered. Customer service is absolutely shot with these guys. Id recommend saving the time and headache and visiting a local Hertz or Enterprise where they at least answer the phone and care about business

Even though I prepaid, they not only didnt have the car I wanted, they didnt even have anything in the class I prepaid. Their upgrade? A bright lime green boy racer Scion toaster. If you want a refund, no problem. Only thing is, they are more than happy to take your money right out of your account, but will hold it hostage for a week or more. Furthering your frustration, you cant even get it cancelled there, you have to spend a half hour or so on the telephone, and raise hell if you dont want to pay a cancellation fee, even though they couldnt find a single car in the class you already paid for. Budget sure knows how to put the cheep in, but get your money anyway.

Reserved a car a month in advance for a family vacation. And they rented the car to my mother in law (we where taking 2 cars) the night before. Called me the night before and told me I would have to come in 2 hours after my pickup time to wait around and hope someone brings in a car. I do not recomend renting anything important from this company. They also refuse to reply to my complaint.

This was the worst car rental experience ever! I would give it - 5 stars if I could.I arrived at dusk, the attendant had me do the inspection. I noted a small scratch. When I returned the vehicle in the bright sunlight the attendant said I chipped the windshield. When I asked her to point it out she pointed out a chip as big as a grain of sand! Then she was rude and argumentative.I disputed this with her, I had driven the car less than 20 miles and not on the highway. I disputed the claim with a manager on the phone. I disputed the claim on my receipt.After more than 30 days I received a bill for 45$. When I tried to contact the company representative the email was undeliverable and the voicemail was not returned. Maybe people just pay up to avoid the hassle but for me it is a matter of principle.Fortunately I rented through CostCo Travel and they have been great in helping me dispute this bogus claim.When I googled my problem it seems that Budget has had many fraudulent issues of this type.Never again will I do business with this company!

The people I dealt with are great. For that, I will give an extra star. I have called repeatedly, left voicemails with my name, number, and vehicle I was renting to get an extension days before the vehicle was due. No call back, no actual person ever answered the phone, and the option to extend over the phone through their automated system was pointless because the 8 digit number on the key fob was not recognized by their database. Double-checked the paperwork I was given, and yup, same number. Tried again with the same results.

This place has the worst customer service..Jennifer H should not be an employee.we came before at 11:30 .am and the line was backed up they said their system shut down for two hours..we was returning our rental we just got 2 days ago to exchange out for a smaller car. We had our 2 year old with us and one she kept complaining about staying over time and how she wasnt going to be able to take her kids to worlds of fun.. its 2:00 pm and she is doing our paperwork and says we have a bill and the bill wasnt due until the 27th and I asked how they werent able to accept us when they just accepted us 2 days ago. I said that doesnt make sense and she goes on to say we were cursing her out.. and said we needed to leave. I am glad Hertz employees think its ok to make up lies to get customers out their door in order for them to be able to leave faster.i will never go here again. Read from the rest of the reviews this place customer service is not nowhere near acceptable. I will be calling corporate. Needless to say we had to wait out in the heat with our 2 year old . Never ever again.

Had a reservation for a standard car, all they had was a Ford F250 truck. I had canceled an SUV reservation at Enterprise when I booked this one because I ended up with fewer passengers than expected so I wanted a smaller car with better gas mileage. No offer to help get a car from another location with existing reservation, nothing. Left empty handed. Not happy.

DO NOT MAKE BUDGET TRUCK RESERVATIONS!My family made Reservations over a month prior to doing a one way move using Budget...one day prior to picking the truck up, they send me a new email confirmation. So I open the email and all the information from my original reservation was changed. So I called them up to clear up the mistake and they told me there was no mistake! They didn’t have the 26 foot truck, so they changed my reservation to a 16 foot truck...keep in mind this was for a one way trip so I guess they expected me to just move half my belongings. They downsized my truck by 10 feet, then changed the pick up location to another state(Missouri to Kansas). When I called to get this fixed, they told me The only options I have was to downsize or cancel. Beings that they notified me one day prior, I couldn’t reschedule the movers, And get another truck from a different company without paying hundreds of dollars more. Their competitors like Penske, and Uhaul Guarentee their trucks...my mother who is a senior citizen felt like this was wrong, so decided to place the same order and again the system allowed it. So we went up there to pick up the 26 foot truck...when we got there, they said sorry our reservations are just a preference, and again left us with no options and no assistance in finding another truck. When we explained everything we had been through with Budget, and asked to speak to a manager, she told us to leave. We said once we get the opportunity to discuss this issue with a manager to find a resolution, she again refused and told us to leave! We again asked for a manager, and she hit the silent alarm, and left the front desk and locked herself in a back room. We had no idea where she went or why she walked away until five cop cars pulled up thinking we were robbing the place.Total nightmare, and all because Budget screwed up and made a reservation that they couldn’t honor. Never ever will we forget about this awful experience. I’ve been in the military for 13 years, and have 6 moves under my belt with Penske, and never had a problem. Do Not Rent with Budget, it cost my family hundreds of dollars when we needed it the most. I can’t understand how they are still in business after doing this type of thing to their customers.

Called the 800 number and they said I could rent from KCI. called KCI to confirm and they said no, not unless you have a plane ticket. The whole company is a terrible joke. ILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I have rented from the Gladstone location twice now and both times have been an experience. This place has multiple issues and I would not recommend them to anyone. First time I rented and SUV for a cross country trip. I scheduled to pick up the SUV first thing in the AM and had planned to be on the road by 9:30AM; however, when I showed up they did not have an SUV on the lot. They tried to give me a Mustang to drive, ah no thanks, I rented an SUV. So they made me drive that Mustang to their downtown location to pick up an SUV. Never once did they offer to have someone drive the SUV to their Gladstone location. Ugh… I guess I work for Budget now, right? Anyway, I pick up the SUV downtown and have to drive it back to Gladstone to complete the paperwork and also I rode my mountain bike to the place, so I needed to load it into the back of the SUV. When I folded the back seats down to stow the bike, I found a boxers sparing mitt stuck to the back of the seat. Ok WTH, right? So I open the side door to fold down the middle seats and see something on the floor, after a better look, I determine there is a pair of sport boxer briefs (used) crumpled on the floor. So I use the sparing mitt as a buffer and scrape the boxer briefs out of the SUV and kick both under the tires and drive away because I am already late and what the hell were they going to do about it anyway, send me back downtown for another SUV? UGH! So rather than getting on the road at 9:30AM as planned, thanks to Budget and their incompetence, it is 11AM until we are headed out of town.Not being one who learns lessons well, or perhaps believes in second chances, I rented another SUV through the Gladstone Budget about two weeks ago. This time with hindsight on my side, I called them the week I had scheduled the rental pick up to ensure they would have a SUV on the lot. In fact, I called several times and each time I was sent to a message that no one could take my call and I should leave a message and they would get back to me. So I leave a message and never got a return call. The day of my rental pick up I did a drive by around noon to see if they had a SUV on the lot, which they did not, surprise, surprise! So I went in and talked to the staff to let them know I was not going to drive downtown or to the airport to pick up a rental at 5PM and they needed to ensure the class I rented was available… Although the counter people are not in charge of inventory, they assumed someone would be dropping a SUV off and said they would call once it was on the lot. Fair enough. When we went in to pick up the SUV they tried to charge us more than the confirmed reservation amount. I questioned them and they corrected the error and the price was adjusted. We returned the vehicle and after reviewing the final paperwork a day or so later at home I realized they had charged me the higher amount. So I call the Gladstone location and guess what, got voicemail. I then called the National Center and spoke to someone who said they were not able to see my final bill, but they would open a case and someone would get back to me in the next few days. After waiting 5 days with no one calling me, I called them again, this time I was told the notes in the case indicate the local branch called me but it went straight to voicemail. Odd, I never received a call from them, nor did I get a voicemail. I was also told the Gladstone location is privately owned and not a corporate location so that is why the National team was unable to help me. In the end I was told to call the local branch and they would be able to tell me what was going on. Of course, I called, got the message that no one could take my call and I should leave a message and they would get back to me. Did so and still waiting for that call back. The issue here isn’t the money, as it is a small amount, it is the level of service after the sale. If this branch had an ounce of care for the customer I would never have had the experiences I have with them and I would not have written this. Adios Budget…

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! I AM IN TEARS😢 The only reason i gave one star was because it would not let me review them without it. I am here(in Lawrence, Ks) to pick up my rental so I can take my children on our first vacation as a family. I went in and the man working the counter said he rented my car and he does not have another one. He was not very nice about it either. So I called the 800 number and that man could not provide me with any location that had a vehicle for me either. What is the point in making a reservation a whole month in advance and confirming it multiple times if they arent going to keep their end of it and have a vehicle for you. I even called them this morning to see if I could go ahead and pay to make sure my vehicle was there. She told me it was not necessary and I could arrive at 330 and my vehicle will still be there. To make things worse, I have been recently diagnosed with a rare blood cancer (polycythemia vera). I do not know how much longer am going to be here to share experiences such as vacations with my 4 children. So this is by far the worst experience in my entire life. Im going to have to go home to my kids and look them in the eye and tell them we have to cancel our special vacation...our first vacation..and quite possibly our last vacation. It is the most heartbreaking feeling. I HATE YOU BUDGET! THANKS FOR RUINING OUR VACATION. I will tell others about this. I will go on every single budget website and write the same Google review. The 2 times we rented from Budget it was a nightmare!! We were paying with debit card the 1st time, our agent knew this prior to delivery of the truck, she did not say anything about copies of bills , proof of income, they waited until we arrived at the rental lot to tell us. We are not stupid, we understand liability, cost of vehicles and money on the line after running around getting the needed documents we were able to get the truck. Would have saved a lot of crap if the would have posted check and debit card rules before hand.Our second trip ( and our last) to budget, we reserved a Ford Flex, only for them to tell us they dont take our credit card, they said our credit card was tied to our bank account, this is crap!! We do not have pre-load credit cards, we have regular credit cards ( we use and pay the balance immediately) when we tried to talk to the young man at the counter he said I dont make the rules I just follow them, I will call my manager. We understand this, its not his fault the company dumps on the desk clerk, standard auto industry crap.We spoke with the manager, she was like talking to the wall, all she could say was we dont take that card,then we told her it was a Master Card, she insisted it was a pre- loaded card. We told her it was not she hung up on us.When we called customer service, we were hung up on 3 times before we finally got to talk with someone, she told us they dont take that credit card, they dont take pre-load credit cards, oh boy same thing over and over, we went to Enterprise car leasing, we were in, out. And driving down the road within 15 minutes, and guess what, they took our master card, Budget, you have lost us as customers and when I get the chance I will direct anyone who needs a rental car to Enterprise!

Renters beware: Of the booking and cancellation policy for KC offices. If you do not pick up your vehicle within 2 hours of your scheduled pick up time, they can and will cancel your reservation. If you are going to be late due to delayed travel, give them a call

We returned our mini van with a small chip in the windshield. They sent us a bill for $293 for replacement of the whole windshield. When we disputed that the chip could have been fixed, we received a picture from the claim department of the chip. The picture was a fraud, the chip was bigger and spidered and much further up on the windshield. Do not rent from them!
