Called in about a laptop repair (my left speaker wasnt working properly). They gave me all the information I wanted including a quote. I had made the mistake of buying parts before coming to the Dog Bytes team to build a computer. The team was so knowledgeable and guided me to building an incredible PC despite some questionable choices on parts on my end. IMO Dog Bytes is the best place to go if you need help with a computer. Went to Best Buy, Batteries+Bulbs, Impact Computers, and UBreakIFix. All claimed a part would need to be ordered (a part only available from a sketchy reseller on ebay) and it would take weeks. Took it to Dog Bytes and they fixed it in four days with no replacement part needed. Never going anywhere in Gainesville besides Dog Bytes again, cant recommend highly enough.

An old 120 GB IDE HDD stopped working. Dog Bytes rescued all the data and transfered the image to another HDD. It took 2 hours and they charged us only $175.-. Very friendly and competent. We had estimates from other companies between $750.- and $2,100.-.... I highly recommend Dog Bytes Computer!

I cannot say enough good things about these gentlemen -- and their dog. My computer had been hacked. I took it to them and they cleaned it and installed Windows 10 on it. Being severely techno-challenged, I realized very quickly that I had absolutely no idea how to navigate Windows 10. Soooo, I took it back to them and they reinstalled Windows 8 and as much of the hacked material they had removed as they possibly could. Every one here is so down to earth and extremely reasonable. I came in with a gaming computer that they had replaced the power supply. I came and picked it up the next day and when I plugged it in, it still didnt work. I brought it back and explained the issue. They checked it out and found out it was the power button on the case. They fixed it right there with me waiting, free of charge! These guys are funny, super professional, and efficient. Id highly recommend them to anyone needing any computer repair done. I know I will be back for anything I need in the future.

I called Best Buy first (because I didnt know what else to do) and they told me my repairs would take a minimum of 7-10 days. Apparently, they send your computer off somewhere and dont even do it on site! ANYWAY, I asked around and everyone was raving about DOG BYTES!! I took my computer there and they fixed it in 15 minutes! It was SO INEXPENSIVE! I felt like I won the lottery! The computer had been down for about 3 years and it had all my recording equipment on it and it was too expensive to replace and I wouldve lost all my music. Dog Bytes is the best! I have never been more impressed and happier with a business! They are top notch. Im never going anywhere else!

If you know its there its easier to find if youre looking for from the road its in the middle of the shopping center. I have been using Dog Bytes for 20+ years. These guys are the best. I brought in my old XP computer that had crashed. They were able to recover my information, especially Quicken at tax time. They set me up with another machine which was to be ready the next day. I got half way across town when my phone rang. They computer was ready. I have a great new machine at a very reasonable price. I needed data recovered from an old laptop of mine. It had been in service for over six years before the hard drive failed and the computer blue screened. I finally brought it in to Dog Bytes for a data recovery, and they were able to get everything--photos, old writing, game saves, homework assignments. It was like opening an old box of toys! Not only that, they also got my laptop working again, AND they did it for $150 less than their competitors in town. Will definitely be going to them again for any other issues.

Dog Bytes was the perfect place to take my laptop to. They have great communications about the problems and made sure I knew the price to fix them up front. I had 2 problems wrong with my laptop but he told me I couldnt probably get by with fixing one now but the other one would need to be fixed soon. After about 2 weeks, my laptop started messing up again, so I took it back. They waived the fee to look at it since I had went recently and they knew the problem. I had my laptop back within a week and it runs better than before!

I came to Dog Bytes to buy a new laptop. They had an assortment of new, used, and refurbished desktops and laptops, plus lots of upgrades.These guys took the time to get to know what I needed. By the time I left the store, I had gotten to know the three guys working there. When I visited the store later, the owner recognized me and remembered my name!!When I asked about certain upgrades, the owner of the store actually talked me out of making a couple of upgrades, even though he would have made more money talking me into them (I did make one upgrade that made sense given my needs). Took laptop on June 25, 2013 because my laptop wouldnt power on, and was told that the dc jack needed to be repaired. After paying $136.10, three weeks later my laptop wouldnt power on again. Took back was told it might be the dc jack again or the mother board.Manager offered to give me a $125.00 credit towards a laptop if bought at his store, but manager would take my laptop.I told him that I wanted to keep my laptop. Got a call shortly after and was told it was the mother board and that the mangers offer still stood, but once again said that I wanted to keep my laptop and I would be by the next day to pick up. After arriving at store, the manager gave me a box with my laptop in pieces (completely apart in many pieces). The manager stated that the laptop was no good. I then told the manger that I wanted my laptop put back together. He then again stated that my laptop was no good. I again told the manager that I wanted my laptop put back together. He then told me is was a waste of their time to put it back together. I once again told him that I wanted my laptop put back together and then he told me that I would have to give him another $45.00 and he would put my laptop together. I then told him that I wasnt going to pay him $45.00. I then told him that I would take him to small claims court. The manager then told me to leave my laptop (box) and he would put it back together put it would take awhile. I told the manager that I couldnt trust leaving my laptop. As I was leaving I told the manager again that I would see him in small claims court and the manager said see ya in court This is no way to treat a customer.

Years ago a friend of mine recommended Dog Bytes Computers to me. And what a find they are. They are extremely honest, fairly priced and so far I have found nothing that they cannot fix. They are so honest, that they have shared with me that it simply did not pay to fix my laptop, that in the long run it would be less expensive to buy a new one....even though they knew I was going to a big box store to buy next computer. I even called Doron. the Owner of Dog Bytes while I was at Best Buy to ask him if the computer I was considering was a good match for me and he was always made himself available.I wouldnt go anywhere else for anything to do with my laptops or desktops!

There service was grade. Didn’t have an appointment and just walked in and they were able to help me with no issues. Also needed to buy a part for my computer and was able to buy it right there.

My 2 year old HP computer stopped turning on. I dont know anything about computers really, but a friend of mine with the same laptop and a similar issue recommended this place to me. So I bring it there and they gave me a heaping dose of pessimism, they actually told me I should start looking for a new laptop before even looking at it . Not saying new HPs are great, especially after my experience with this one, but I think it is worth taking a look at it before bashing my hopes of it being repaired. They kept it for about 2 weeks, saying there was a problem with the power button. After 2 weeks of calling to get updates on it, they tell me they were able to repair the power button. So I go to pick it up, and then turns out it wasnt just the power button, something about the battery and it getting too hot, and they disconnected the battery and the only way it would work is if it was plugged in at all times. So good news: it was only $45 for two weeks of diagnostics and it now is somewhat usable (plus they backed up all my files for free), but bad news: it wasnt completely fixed and I couldnt really get a good explanation of what the problem was still. Took it to another place (Laptop Repair of Gainesville on University), fixed it within two days. Not saying they do bad work here, just my experience was poor and I couldve saved $45 and two weeks of frustration taking it to the second place first.

Had a broken laptop screen and they did a great job replacing it. Cost was reasonable and was done quickly with OEM parts. Good communication about repair timeline as well. Will definitely go to them again for any future computer repair.

This is a great place to go when you dont want to be overcharged at Best Buy or Radio Shack. A good trusted staff. They are a great asset to have in Gainesville. The manager is honest. While negotiating with me on a part he gave me a better deal than what was posted online.

These lads did right by me. Came in uncertain of what exactly was wrong with my rig and they had replacement parts ordered by the next day. Even when the initial suspected issue was not the actual problem, I was not charged for the original replacement pieces and walked out the door paying less for service than anywhere else I have ever been. New card I got was even an upgrade over the old for no up-charge. Will be back if anything else goes wrong.

I came in to get the hinges on my Yoga 2 Pro repaired. Instead of taking the laptop for a few hours and charging a large diagnostic fee for what turned out to be a relatively simple problem (it just needed a a couple new screws), they took a look at it right away and fixed it in a few minutes for free.

I came in with a broken MacBook Air that I sold on Ebay for parts and needed to have the hard drive cleared.
