I Just wanted to post an update to the one I did earlier in talking about the cost of an item. I just recently spoke with West McCoy in the service dept. and I want to say that he went far and above the what I was hoping and asking for. I said earlier that I was in the temp A/C business for 16 years and had to make good on a few things in my career. West did just that and after this experience and how Professionally I was taken care of it goes without saying that I will Highly Recommend Robert B Payne to any and all I speak to in reference to having A/C work done. Called Robert B Payne to come do an estimate for my hot water heater. They were pretty quick with arriving, and with getting me an estimate. I decided to have them replace it. It only took 2 days to get the parts. Pricing was great compared to a plumber that gave me an estimate, which was double of what I paid with RBP. Wayne installed my new water heater. He was so nice, and did a great job. 1000% recommend them!

My A/C went out over the July 4th holiday weekend. I called Robert B. Payne on that following Monday and they were able to send a technician out that same day. After diagnosis and age is system, it was more economical to replace the system than fix it. Robert B. Payne gave a me the best estimate out of all. While I had to wait a week for my new system to be installed, Robert B. Payne was able to provide a window A/C unit. What a life saver! The new system has been installed and I couldnt be happier. The installation crew showed up a little earlier than expected, completed the installation in a very timely fashion and took the time to answer my questions and walk me through the entire system. Truly a fantastic experience! From the initial phone call with Marcia, having a conference call with Robbie to answer my questions, being able to obtain a temporary window A/C unit, and having Dempsey and Travis install my new system, this has been such a wonderful experience. Jon and Trent showed up on time and installed a mini split from scratch. I was very impressed with the way they ran the cables in a neat fashion and flush against the wood beams keeping it nice and neat. When John Chance came to my home to give me an estimate, I found him to be very knowledgeable about his product as well as the process of installation. He’s a nice guy and seemed to be completely honest. I told him that I wanted a couple of other bids, and he encouraged me to do so.The next contractor gave me two bids - one that was almost twice the cost of your system, the other almost three times as high! He was proposing systems that were 2 and 3 times bigger than my square footage required, a mistake, which was corroborated by John, and a basic Google search for BTU/square footage requirements. When I asked the rep why he was suggesting this gear, he simply said that that’s what the book said.Contractor number three seemed a bit more tuned in but assured me that I would need two mini-splits on my first floor, where John had said one would be more that enough. Number three also indicated that I needed to get a sub panel since my existing panel was full. Of course he could do it ($$$) and his bid was also about twice the cost of your system.I had a new panel installed on my own and decided that Robt B Payne would be my choice.The crew showed up – Rafael and Travis - two friendly guys who obviously knew what they were doing and appeared to enjoy their job. When I showed them my new panel, I mentioned that John had not made an issue out of it, and the tech told me that they would have installed a new one at no additional cost. Good business.They finished the job, and everything that John told me was true. The system is great and the service was great. And, one mini split is plenty for my first floor.On a final note, I had a conversation with Travis before they left, and he gave me a little anecdotal information about the owner of your company leaving me with the knowledge that it is a good place to work run by a reasonable, sensitive person. A company that puts real value on its employees is bound to succeed. I am glad that Robert B Payne is such a company.

AC always goes out when temperatures soar & mine went out as I was eagerly waiting on the arrival of out of town family after a pandemic year apart. I was able to schedule an estimate the day after my call. John came out, provided a quote and had me set for installation in less than a week. Wayne & Charles arrived right on time and worked steadily & efficiently to complete the install. We shopped around and although everyone gave good quotes, we went with Payne...Robbie (from Payne) gave us an honest quote and was very patient answering our questions. This Spring during one hot day that reached 90 degrees I turned on our air conditioner. I noticed that after several hours of continuous running that the temperature on the thermostat was only a few degrees less than when I had turned it on. I also noticed that very little air was coming through the vents. I called the company that had been servicing the system and their technician told us that the unit was low on refrigerant and that there was ice on the coil above the furnace. He suggested replacing the outside condenser and inside coil since the system was over 15 years old. So I had them give me a quote on replacing the whole HVAC system. I also contacted several other vendors in the area.Upon receiving four quotes, my wife and I chose Robert B. Payne. Our decision to go with Payne was based on the timeliness and professionalism of the sales representative, Robbie Jones, who came to our house to show us options, and also Brittany Merritt who I had talked with when I had further questions regarding the system. Our heat pump went out on a Friday morning in February. They had someone out to our house to check it on the same morning. It was not repairable, and they came out the same afternoon to give us a quote. They had a new one installed by Tuesday. Great service

Ricky and Tommy arrived promptly at 7:30 and finished as predicted. They took great care installing the system and helping set up the Wi-Fi enabled thermostat. I have every confidence this system will run as well as the last one Robert B Payne installed for me 22 years ago. While the system is great, it isn’t what the salesman Robbie said it would do. My downstairs is always 5-6 degrees colder than the upstairs during winter. I wanted a way to mostly even out the difference. Robbie said they had a thermostat that would sense the temperatures upstairs and down then average the difference, running a bit longer to warm the downstairs more. The thermostat and sensor provided do not do that. While I have a nice new system, in the end I am no better off than when we started.18 Mar 2021 Update: Ricky came by and made sure the downstairs sensor was connected. It was not but is now sensing and the system is performing as advertised. Thanks for the quick response and resolution!

Recently we had to replace our 20 years old HVAC system. We were told last year that we needed a new heat pump and didnt realize how bad we needed one until the recent cold snap. I called the office and they said theyd be out in a couple of days and even though I had the estimate last year, they didnt pass along the annual price increase to me. (WOW!) I had a total system replacement for a 30 year old furnace and AC unit. Ricky and Tommy did a great job swapping out the units in one morning. We called this company when we started having trouble with our 27 year old heating system. Jonathan came on Wednesday and was very thorough in his inspection of our old system. We ultimately decided to just replace that system with a new one. Robby met with my husband on Thursday to discuss a new unit. We had our HVAC freeze up two weeks ago contacted Robert B Payne to see what the issue was. They arrived on time and informed us our ages system (R22) had a leaky coil (no longer manufactured and cannot be repaired). Robbie came out and gave us and estimate, explained all of what was included the gave us two options and the time to make a decision. Ricky and Tommy were our installers, they arrived on time and got right to work. Explained anything I had a question about and the house has never been cooler.

Today Kevin provided the semi-annual servicing of our HVAC units and we appreciated his friendly manner and attention to detail. Our old furnace decided it’s work was done in the middle of this season’s first sub zero temperatures. RBP was able to send a technician out the very next day. We had hoped to just fix the unit but at 31 years old it’s life was over. Within 24 hours we were able to get a fair estimate for a replacement. We were told 3-4 days before a new one could be shipped from Raleigh. We settled in with a space heater and made the best of it. The new unit arrived in just 2 days and we were set for installation the following morning. Ricky and Tommy arrived on time, installed the unit in a professional manner and had our home back to a suitable temperature in just a few hours. Both Ricky and Tommy were polite, professional and happy to answer all our questions. RBP has earned our business for good!

Robbie Jones did an excellent job of explaining the systems without pressuring or trying to sell me more than was needed. Ricky Meyers and Tom were very polite and professional and left me with a clean install as well as a clear understanding of how my system works. The team who did the install was timely, very respectful, and left my home with a neat and clean system. There were a couple of issues, but after informing RBP about my concerns, they made efforts to address them. I can appreciate this, and because of that I will continue to use them for future service.

Blown away by the quality and speed of the service provided by Ricky and Tommy. I was told that the installation would take from 7am to 2:30 or 3pm. Tommy and Ricky got right to work when they got here and were done well before what I expected. Not only provided a quality install but walked me through all the equipment, what to expect and what to look for. Extremely thankful for this service and my house is already feeling cooler.

The installers respected my home, they took the time to ensure system placement was correct and neat. They were on time and worked in systematically wasting no time. AC system failed on Sunday and we got call back on Sunday. Tech was here Monday and confirmed time of death of HVAC. Signed a contract to replace the unit on Tuesday. RB Payne replaced the unit on Wednesday, before 11 AM. I could not have asked for a better response and professional treatment. I will ask for their services again.

Last week, Ricky and Tommy installed a new AC unit and furnace at our home. They showed up on time, completed the job very quickly and even adjusted some of the duct work in our crawl space to be more efficient. They left the work space incredibly clean, looking better than before. We are very happy with the new unit and the installation process.

Ricky and Tommy were absolutely wonderful! They were very professional, considerate and caring. Im hoping they are the ones that will come out if the A/C ever needs servicing!

Installation of our new heating and AC system was done by Ricky and Tommy today. They went over everything they were doing and reviewed the new system with me. And gave an overview of the thermostat operation.

Have used Payne for some time - replaced my entire hvac system, and they made suggestions to make it more efficient, which worked wonderfully. Use them for maintenance, and recently had a duct become disconnected - they came the same day to fix. Office staff and techs always very professional. I wish all the contractors ive used were as great as Payne!

Robbie Jones came out and explained our options to us, we picked an option and set up an appointment all within an hour. Ricky and Tommy are AMAZING technicians! They were careful, thorough and certainly knew what they were doing! We have used Robert B Payne for years and this was first time we had to have the whole thing replaced and I can’t imagine an easier process.

Gary Cronin arrived on time in the morning. He had plastic coverings on his shoes to protect our floors. I explained why we needed service and showed our breaker box. He took immediate action to diagnose problem. He took the time to fully explain what caused my problem and quickly fixed the wiring that had faulted in the outside unit. He gave me some advice on what to look for in the future to ensure my system was working. He also did checks inside the house to make sure system was producing correct heat. Gary provided excellent customer service.

Robert B. Payne is a company like no other. They’re not in the business to only keep people comfortable by heating and air but their biggest gift is how they keep people comfortable with their hearts and care! This business goes beyond expectations for what they do and they care dearly and deeply for the weak and they give their people and machines and parts to keep not only the ones who can pay but also the ones who don’t have a penny, comfortable in the summer and winter, no matter the cost. I had Nate from Robert B. Payne here this week and again both he and Robert B. Payne never asked for any more than I could pay. I know that if I couldn’t of paid for the tune up, with my severe disability problems, Robert B. Payne still would of kept me comfortable. Each person in this company are my Angels, they all have looked over me and kept me from serious worries of cost for heating and air repairs.
