We were on our way to OR while in the area we stopped for food, but the car started shaking and acting funny. We called Honda in Elk Grove before 4 pm, they would not even look at it. We called another shop and they referred us to Dans. Even on a Friday afternoon he let us bring it in and checked it out. I know he was super busy, but he took the time to check it. One of the fuel injectors was not working. We decided to take our care home and use another vehicle but were thankful for the professional help to know we werent going to blow up the motor.

Took the car in for a knock told him i wanted to know where it was coming from he called me the next day and told me the car was good to go... I get there we go outside and start it I barely pres the throttle and it knocked like crazy he said they never heard it. Then i was told just drive it its a car it wont brake down.?? Doesnt make sense I had a terrible experience here and will definitely not be back! Wouldnt recommend. Sorry just being honest

Do not bring your car to them, they told me I had no compression in my engine gave me a # of under 100 In a cylinder and it needs replaced so I tested it myself and my compression is fine, its not only not weak it had very good numbers 150 and up, I almost took there word and spent thousands of dollars on a new engine but glad I double checked because my engine is fine, shops like this is why people dont trust mechanics anymore and the old guy is super rude, I can get over that but thought I would give you a heads up

I recently purchased Dans GX470. He informed me that everything works, everything is well maintained and nothing is wrong with the SUV. He also informed me that if anything is not right to let him know and he would take care of it. I believed him because he was selling the vehicle in what great condition it is because he maintains it at his business.I find it interesting that the engine oil was a quart low and 500 miles past the oil change due. When I asked him about it he said they (as if he is not responsible for his staff) for not doing it right. We also found out that the DVD player in the left headrest has video quality issues and the right headrest isnt working at all.Now the car is sold as is and so its my fault for not checking prior to the purchase. But when these two issues within four hours or purchasing the car, now he washes his hands of anything involved with it instead of taking care of anything wrong.One of the main reasons we bought the car was the DVD players installed so that our 14 year old special needs child can watch while we are driving. That didnt work out.So if Dan and his wife were dishonest and not forthcoming about a DVD player not working and not even keeping his own cars timely maintained properly, then I have hard time bringing him any business.So I was fooled into buying a vehicle from a man I believed I thought was honest, honorable and trustworthy. Shame on him.

If youre looking for an honest professional expert, auto mechanic Dans is the place. I brought my Corvette in, I thought I had a broken compressor for my air conditioner, thats what I was told by a previous auto company. I went to Dans I told him to replace my compressor , he did tests he started from the bottom up , he found that I only needed freon and a few minor other things. He could have taken me to the cleaners and I wouldnt have known the difference , but instead he was honest. Instead of costing me $1,400 it only cost me less than $400. They even gave me a free ride home while they work on my vehicle . If youre looking for an honest reliable mechanic and Crew, not to mention good people , go to Dans Auto.

We had used it over an year but we are not happy any more as we had recently bad experiences several times.

For the record, this post is from 2010 in Yelp but Dans Auto had it removed immediately.I have been going to Dan for the past three years. I have two older cars (late 90s) and have had his shop do all of my repairs. They do average work and the price is OK. I have spent over $9,000 over the years for transmission, brakes, rear axle, replaced engine, etc. I took my third car there which is a 2002 recently and without going into too much detail, he did not provide good customer service. I had to take my car back to him two times and they still never fixed it and wont honor their warranty. Once he gets the cash in his hand, he could care less about you and your car. He repaired my friends car once and Dan called him after the repair because he left some cash in his glove box. Turns out Dan used his car to go to the bank. He has too many customers coming in now and he now takes it for granted at his new location. He even made me drive 45 minutes to his shop to pick up my car before it was repaired because he had too many cars in his lot and I had to take it back a couple days later. Spend (or possibly save) the extra few bucks and go to a dealership or somewhere else.

Have taken all three of my cars to Dan, we own a Suzuki XL7; A Lexus ES300 and an Infiniti G37; Dan has been a pleasure to work with, he has always worked with me and my wife and I will be taking my cars to Dan in the future. In 2011, I was having long term air conditioning problems with my 2003 Honda CRV and had had a very expensive repair under warranty at the Elk Grove Honda dealership which fixed the AC for two weeks until it broke again. When I took the car back to the dealership, they told me the warranty had expired and it would cost me over 3,000 bucks to fix it. Desperate, I searched around and found Dans, took the car to him, explained the problem, and he fixed my air conditioning for under 200 bucks! It still cools perfectly. I have had several other repairs done there since 2011, and have been satisfied every time with his knowledge of all things automotive, his honesty, and his generally reasonable prices. Hes now my go-to car guy...until further notice.

I can just about bet that Lexus SUV is still on the road running great. I worked at a tire shop and we referred everybody to Dan. I dont work at the tire shop anymore and I still refer people to Dans Auto. He is one of the most honest mechanics Ive ever met in a sea of liars. By lookin at all the reviews I am very surprize. I want to replace a brand new engine in a 1998 Toyota Camry Le. I want to this car to go back to the way and the mileage the time wen it was brand new with 0 mileage. Will he be able to do all wrk. All engine wrk ant etc. Except da audio and video system. MAKE IT BRAND NEW CAR. LIME IT CAME FROM DA DEALER.

Took car to VW. thought VW was overcharging for price of repair. Brought to Dan said he would do it cheaper. gave him print out of what VW gave me.Told Dan I need car by weekend on Wed. said no problem bring in Thursday well get parts in same day at my cost and get car back to you that night. we save you time and money.cool I thought and confirmed appointment.Next day part did not come in. will have it fixed by tomorrow. Friday evening part not in it will be ready Monday. now I have to get rental car.Monday comes. Dan tells me Power steering pump came in and we replaced. problem is there is still noise. I told him to check for other problem now. - they confirmed problem and ordered from Alternator from VW. end of day Tuesday he tell me part came in and they replaced but there is still a noise.I got my car and scrammed. he charged $2000+ and my car is still broken. not to mention time lost in dealing with him, the price of a rental car, I ended up over $2400.00 out of pocket.
