My husband made an 8am appointment for an alignment on my truck. Guy opening shows up at 8:09 am, said he forgot the keys.It takes another 10 minutes to do whatever and to NOT give a timeline for when the truck should be ready, just said it would be ready today.Impressed ?No, not in the slightest. We will be taking any further alignment needs back to Bungees.

Pep Boys in Elgin is the best. I took my car for a 2nd opinion a few days ago and came back today to get the work done. Luis went out of his way to make sure I had the right fluid that was recommended for my car. And the service on my car was excellent. The job was completed exactly when promised. I highly recommend Pep Boys Elgin.

After coming here for more than 15 years they lost my business today. I went there with a diagnostic to get an estimate. Chris never called me with the estimate and when I called he said he run a diagnostic without asking me and wanted to charge me 1,100$ for a part that I knew was cheaper. Chris failed to tell me there was a diagnostics fee of $111 and refused to give me the part number saying he did not know how to get that number. Then he said he had told me about the diagnostics fee when I dropped off the car, which is not true because I already had a diagnostic. He was not upfront and honest and just wanted to produce a bill because I did not want to do the job with them. When I checked the receipt, he charged $99 for and engine diagnostic plus $9.99 for “misc shop supplies”. I did not purchase anything. This had never happened to me when Luis took care of my car, he was honest and went the extra mile to help me.

Called and made appointment for my young daughter to get her A/C checked. Told the guy on phone her A/C is blowing warm air. What would be the charge to find out why. He told me it was no charge to find out why. Daughter took car in and they tried charging her $40 to check it. Absolute crooks. Beware!!!!

Fast and friendly service, but a bit on the pricey side! If it werent for the convenient location and my immediate need for a new tire, I would have gone elsewhere. I am thankful, however, for their generosity...They didnt have to squeeze me into their busy schedule the same day!

We had our car fixed here in the summer because my air conditioning went out. Quotes from other shops were extremely high and we found this shop was competitively priced. They did an excellent job in less time then quoted by other shops like Firestone. The Manager and his staff were so friendly too. Then today I had a light showing low tire pressure, drove there and they waited on me immediately. They checked all my tires without any charge. Just a smile and good customer relations. My wifes car battery died so I went over to an autoparts store and bought a new one. I told Pep Boys I just need a battery installed really quick. They wanted $130 and when I told them thats approximately $1,000 an hour they became very rude. I went across the street and got it installed for $60. 15 minutes. Terrible Service at Pep Boys. Go to Pit and Stop right across the street.

I decided to come here for service, unfortunately one of the employees hit my car on my front right side by the wheel. I always check my cars after and before I take them to service for this main reason that people are not careful enough. I saw no dents besides scratches so decided not to report the incident. I definitely do not recommend this place. Go somewhere else where they will take care of your car. Besides the oil change price is kinda pricey $80 for oil change. Where in the car deeler you could get it done with $50.

I made an appointment to come in at noon on a Thursday for an oil change with a 19.99 coupon. When I arrived my total suddenly became $39.00..... very displeased, but on a time limit, I paid the new total. To make the frustration worse, the gentleman working the counter had a sour disposistion. No smile. No hello. I had to speak first in order to get any attention. I will not return to this or any Pep Boys in the future. Thanks for being such a strong negative energy. I hope you find happiness.

Appointments within a day and first rate service.

I was in to this Pep Boys location for the first time and and had come in initially for a review of my Air Conditioning Unit and to have it diagnosed thinking like most people that it is a leak or it needs freon. The morning that I brought it in, I had just been at my Ford Dealership previously for an oil change and gave me recommended repairs that I would need done to my vehicle, and thinking nothing of it, I thought, okay, I will take care of these other issues I am having with my vehicle later as it wasnt a priority after I just got my oil change. When I came into Pep Boys, I was ready to have them diagnose the air conditioning unit, but they did a full diagnostic and check to make sure my vehicle was safe for all the other routine checks the dealership reviewed from my oil change that same morning. To my surprise, there are a number of unsafe conditions with my tires and my rear shocks and my alignment that could have caused my tires to blow out. I was happy for the estimate and diagnosis of what priorities my vehicle needed for repairs from the Pep Boys after working with Shane, their service manager. So, instead of my AC not being able to be fixed there were a number of other parts of my car that needed ultimate priority, namely my rear shocks, my rear ties, and an alignment.So, I gave them the business to take care of those repairs. Even though the repairs took a while, I sincerely appreciated their care and my understanding for why the repairs were taking an extended period of time, Shane did an awesome job to explain why it was taking longer and the need for extended time on my vehicle to be done correctly, and I appreciated that level of communication, follow up and follow through on my repairs. I wanted my vehicle done and repaired correctly to ensure that my vehicle would be good for another 2-3 years before I opted to buy a new vehicle. They kept me posted every step of the way and even worked with me to partner with their diagnosis in how to present that to my dealership to know what repairs were priority and how they could be better in terms of the price and servicing I needed on my vehicle compared to my dealership service center. The funny part is that I am an auto claims adjuster for my insurance company so I was able to utilize their knowledge being 100% truthful in my repairs to make my vehicle safe and operable and for them to work with me in reference to what my goal was for my car.Today, I am back after reviewing the estimate my dealership had for the repairs and happy to say that the same type of repair was less expensive at Pep Boys and to review my estimate from them and how i would be able to take care of the next part of my vehicle repairs in the right priority due to the number of repairs needed to my vehicle. Now, just like anyone else, the thought of maintaining an item that doesnt carry much actual cash value because it depreciates so badly in value, I am happy to make the right type of payment for repairs done correctly, accurately, and efficiently by the Pep Boys team here. Id recommend you speak to Shane and Luis and they will take care you as well as they did for me. Before you judge and assume and give a repair shop a bad name, really ask questions and be knowledgeable and partner with their expertise. For me, I am happy I know what my end goal was for my repairs and the Pep Boys team did an amazing job the first time they handle my repairs, provided appropriate accommodation to get my vehicle repairs done right, and earned my business again today and for any future repairs. Thank you to Shane, the service manager for meeting and exceeding my expectations and for giving me fair, honest, and quality knowledge about why I needed my repairs done, and when to have those done working with my budget and priority to make my car safe. Hopefully my car wont have any more issues for another couple of years thanks to the proper maintenance of my vehicle from its wear and tear but the team at Pep Boys in Elgin, earned my business.

Great and friendly service! My car was towed here, from I-90 in late summer. It is more than 20 years old and has a problem of stalling every summer for the past 3 or so years. I have brought it to different places, spent a lot of money and it still stalls. Pep Boys had it for one day, diagnosed the problem, fixed it and its been running strong since. Luis Fuentes is awesome! I called in a crisis, my wife had gotten a flat & I needed a tire installed on the rim in a hurry. I called ahead to verify they had the tire in stock, he gave me a few options & made me feel good about my final purchase/decision. He also realized when I arrived that I was the one who had called & had the tire waiting for me. Since I was in a rush he took it upon himself the install the new tire on the rim, all said & done I was there no longer than 30 minutes & my wife was able to drive the vehicle again. Excellent, Excellent customer service. Text book professionalism & a friendly disposition. I will definitely be back when I need help again. A+ for this location!

Lower price but terrible, terrible service. One of my worst experience. They never notified me when its done. When I finally called, they told me they are waiting for me to call. When I went there, they tried to sell me things like vent and air filter. they pulled my vent filter to show me. I told them I dont want them, I replaced them both last week myself! After I finally got my car, I realized they never put many things back in, including the vent filter, all stuff from my glove department. They did not reset my dashboard light. When I got home, I also found they did not close air filter door properly. I was wondering whether they really changed my oil at all!

Be there twice in 2 month period,because that closest tire shop from my house , with nail in tire on different cars, countersale man recommended me “go at another place...” what I’m exactly do..that tires be repaired at “discount tire” in Streamwood, Il.. I cannot recomended this tire shop

Going in, this place seemed friendly. They certainly seemed like they would help you out if youre struggling. We took in our truck for diagnostic work, and got to pick it up after 7 hours, which the fee was to be waved if we went with their repair. We asked if it would still be valid if we brought our own part and they said yes it just would not include warranty. After calling the next day to set up an appointment for the repair half, we were told a different story. Their second story was, we had to get their $76-up charged part to be waved the diagnostic fee but since we had already ordered the part that he would help us out with 15% off labor. Sounds helpful right? Not really. Made an appointment at a different Pepboys, they will honor their diagnostic free, if we go with their repair even if we bring our own part. As far as the 15% off, go on their website, they currently have a 20% off repair and maintenance (valid until 6/30/16)

Think twice about going here. Time is very important to me. Quick story. Had an appointment for a nail in my front tire at 11. They got it done at after 12. Told me they took out the nail. Went home. Check tire. Wow. Nail was still there. Went back. They fix the tire while i watch them. Under 30min. It was close to 1pm. By the way. I had 2 babies with me. A quick fix. Nope.

Staff is rude and will lie to you saying ridiculous things like larger tires take much longer to rotate than smaller tires. They will also laugh at you if you dont know exactly what oil your car takes even if its a new car and youve never gotten the oil changed before. Wait times are unusually long. Not worth it, avoid this place!! Only good for parts.

Very disappointed with my most recent visit. Had damage to a wheel and had them remove the tire. Discovered they took the tire pressure sensor off the old wheel and claimed they didnt. Said they would put a new one in at no charge. a few weeks later had the tire removed and looked at the sensor and discovered it was the original sensor that they put back in. Very dishonest. Will not do business there again.

Went in to get a full inspection that i paid for after me and my daughter waited a hr was given a 1800 quote for repairs took it to a different shop paid for a neither inspection again to find out half the work wasnt needed and pep boys failed to tell me about a broken mount and a bad leak when i called was told by the store sry they been dealing with alot of mistake that were made at the shop that sean the ast manager that worked on my car would call when he finally did he had a attitude and said he had no time to deal with my issue and told mr to go elsewhere

I have started getting my car serviced at this Pep Boys location for almost a year now. I had a rough start to my day when a hook on the road punctured my less than a year old tire. To make a very long story relatively short, as I waited for a tow on the highway I called Pep Boys to make sure my tires were under guarantee so I could have my car taken there. As soon as I arrived to this Pep Boys location the manager Luis took me in right away for my emergency situation. They fixed my tire and had me on my way in no time. Luis and his team completely turned around the start of a potential bad and expensive day. They make sure you know exactly whats going on and visually educate you on your car issues. I definitely recommend this auto service location.

Had to take my truck in for a busted rear brake line earlier this year. They replaced the line in addition to the rear pads/rotors after recommending them, and had the rear calipers fail during a test drive. Called me up to let me know what had happened, and replaced the calipers at no charge without me even asking.Ive never had an issue with these guys; theyre always willing to give advice for work Im doing on my own, and work with me on pricing options when I need them to repair something.

Went to Pep Boys because my break lights were out and my car wouldnt come out of park. We paid for a switch to be replace. Went to pick the car up and my break lights still didnt work. They had replaced the wrong switch and wanted us to pay for the right switch. After a back and forth conversation and a talk with corporate, they agreed to replace the switch without charging us again. Had to wait a week for the switch to come in.... Finally got my car back and I had the same problem within a week. My husband took my car to someone else who fixed the car the same day in two hours for half the price that Pep Boys charged. Nothing else to say. Car still going after two months.

My husband has been coming here for the last year since we moved to a near by town. This was the closest location for him. He has always been seen and helped by a man named Luis. But always thought of him as just nice. But today, I was with my husband as he had a flat tire this morning from running over an object in the road. He called Sams club to bring it in for a free patch as we are members. The man told us to come on in and he will fix it no problem. We drove about 20 mins from our house for him to tell us that it was a 2hr wait and to make an appt. My husband was furious! So we called Pep Boys and they told us to come in without hesitation and they could see what they could do. They also were very busy so we expected a wait, but at this point we were desperate to get the tire fixed or replaced as my husband needed to go to work. When we walked in we were greeted by Luis at the front desk. My husband explained the situation to him and he asked if we had an appt since it was busy and Columbus Day. My husband then started to get aggravated as he didn’t want to hear the word APPOINTMENT again. But Luis saw we had our toddler and the look on my husbands face of fustration on getting a simple repair or replacing the tire altogether. He then turned it around and assured my husband that his tire would get fixed and he also remembered that fustrated face, from coming in for his oil changes. Luis, then told us that our car was ready. My husband and I looked at each other in shock of how fast they repaired the tire. The way Luis handled my fustrated husband and the amount of time he takes to be kind to all his customers is AMAZING. We watched the way he treated every person who walked in and out of that location. Before we left, we made sure that we commmened Luis on his superior service and told him that he deserves more praise and how could we let people know to come here if they want excellent customer service. And not just the service they provide but the way they treat their customers is EXCEPTIONAL! Thanks again Luis! Keep up the amazing hospitality.

Went in to get my check engine light sorted out and they replaced my fuel system and had me al set to go. When my light came back on the next day they took my car back in and replaced a bent fuel line and replaced the fuel cap for no charge in under an hour. Amazing service.

Where do I begin its unfortunate that in 2016 u still have people who think they can take advantage of u because youre a female. My car was towed to pepboys because it wouldnt start. 2-3 hours after it being in the shop I get a call from Jerry and thats when the BS started I was told I need a battery, and a fuel injection cleaner he went on and on about the fuel injection cleaner how much dirt and buildup is on the car. After going back and forth with him on how ridiculous he sounds because everybody knows a fuel injection cleaner has nothing to do with the car starting ok change the battery. 3 hours pass no call I decide to go up there oh what do u know Jerry went home for the day and my car still wont start and hes off the next day and no one can look at my car so it will just sit until Jerry comes back to work. Poor customer service if u ask me. Now day 3 again no call I had to call and check status oh now not only is my car still not running but I need to pay $440 for Jerry to do what he said is a tear down or take apart however he worded it but basically $440 to take covers and parts off to see why its not getting any compression.......hum isnt that what a diagnostic test is for my car is a 2011 its not that old everything is computerized this aint a 1970 where u have to take everything apart to figure out whats wrong. Oh to add fuel to the fire he mentioned an oil change I should mention my last oil change was done by them and brakes. Oh Jerry youre a 1000% right my car wont start because I need a fuel injection cleaner, an oil change and most importantly brakes last time I checked brakes STOP the car they dont START the car. So long story short if u want to get ripped off go to pepboys on summit and ask for Jerry he the specialist. I hurried up and had my car towed to another shop because I dont trust them to look at it let alone do any repairs. I only gave the 1 star because I had to.

I had gotten my rear brakes replaced at a Pepboys in Miami, FL about a year ago. I went in because the pads were worn down (likely due to me being kind of heavy on them). I brought in my paperwork was slightly over the miles allowed for labor warranty and the manager Peter was extremely nice and helpful, and covered the entire job ($308.00). When you buy pads, rotors and calipers (and other parts) through Pepboys they guarantee them for the life of the vehicle. I will definitely be going back and they really saved me a ton of money!!

Bring car for alignment, left car for over night, next day came to pick up a car and not was able start any more(battery was dead) . Went back to office and there was 0 of help from them!!! Thy answer was we did alignment and we not responsible for dead battery!!! ( technician just left keys in ignition and its drain battery) . Never go back any more!!!

I took my car there for a Lyft inspection. After the inspection I found grease stains on the interior of my car. I asked them to clean it and they used a dirty rag to clean the interior. I left upset and disappointed. I had to clean the grease off myself after stopping by the store to pick up some interior cleaners.

Called before hand, agreed to be there before 6 to fit in for an oil change. Got there and was told they cant do it without and appointment today.
