I bought a brand new civic type R from this dealer before they received it. They knew that I was registering in another state, and they told me that I would be driving away with an in-transit plate as they were not able to complete taxes and registration and plates for my state; regardless, they still decided to drill a license plate holder into my front bumper with the sole purpose of displaying their logo as publicity.When I pointed this out to the manager he blamed me for not telling them that I did not want a front license plate holder, and used Honda’s predelivery checklist ,and Iowa’s front license plate requirement as an excuse for drilling into my bumper.Furthermore, 700 miles later when I was installing mud flaps on my car, I realized that they also delivered the car in an UNSAFE condition, as their mechanic signed but also failed to properly complete Honda’s “PDI and final delivery checklist”; the same one that they try to hide behind when they drilled into my bumper, this was evident because I found the orange suspension height retainers still installed and zip-tied to my suspension springs. Now who knows what else they just checked off in the paperwork yet failed to even visually inspect.Thanks to Richardson Motors my Honda dealership experience has been substantially inferior to that with Kia/Hyundai; a very stark contrast to their popular reputation, and Honda should not allow their dealers to use “process” as an excuse to blame their customers for the dealer’s carelessness and dealer’s failure to communicate about unnecessary and irreversible modifications to a new vehicle.Richardson Motors owes me a new front bumper, and Honda should offer a proper pre delivery inspection from a dealership that takes their responsibilities seriously.

Everything from the start of the experience was excellent. The communication while the vehicle was on order was impeccable, and the delivery was smooth and painless. Just bought my seventh plus vehicle from Richardson Motors. First a big shoutout to the service department which provides great service and support and always treats me with tact and respect. Thank you! Secondly, I really appreciate the sales staff and especially Rick Carlson. He understood my vehicle needs perfectly and put me in an Envision, which I love more than any car since my convertible. He never once treated me like a dumb woman, and believe me I’ve experienced that plenty in my lifetime.

Sale went well but service has been a big letdown. Had/have problems with my rear speakers, was told the speakers and sub would be replaced, only the sub was replaced and I do know this for a fact. Emailed and called service no response from advisor and service manager . Went to listen do similar model and salesman left a not for service adviser, again no response.2 weeks have passed, never heard back from dealershipOne month has passed, not a word from the dealership

My husband and I were visiting our grandson for his 19th birthday and to see him play soccer for University of Dubuque. My Buick Encore would not start and AAA had to tow it to Richardson Motors. TJ Wernimont was very helpful. It was a holiday weekend and I feel he and Jim Westphal went above and beyond the call of duty. TJ came up with a solution to fix my car. This allowed us to start back to Ohio on Sunday and not have to wait for a part to come in that would have delayed us leaving until the following Wednesday or Thursday. I just wish this world had more people like TJ Wernimont and Jim Westphal. If I lived in Dubuque, I would definitely do business with Richardson Motors again.

We just purchased a vehicle here 16 days ago. Day 9 My automatic running boards quit working, day 15 while driving on the highway a horrible noise comes from the front end. We contacted the dealership to let them know and ask them what could be done. They said that they wont take care of it and that we declined the extended warranty. We were never offered an extended warranty, had we been offered we would have bought it. The salesmans was very nice, easy to work with. We have also had trouble with the finance office since the vehicle was delivered we signed in about 3 spots and never received a copy of the paperwork and to this day we are still waiting.

They’re getting 2 stars because ultimately we got the vehicle we wanted. They definitely did not win any loyalty from us. I understand that we weren’t there getting a new vehicle but we went in knowing exactly what we wanted and financing wasn’t an issue, so we expected it to be pretty straightforward.We went in on a Monday for a test drive and there was a few issues with the van. After settling on a price, we were talked into financing through our own bank on Richardson’s behalf. We were told it would be the exact same thing as just going to our bank. We agreed and left and said we’d finish up when the van was ready to go. The salesman texted on Thursday that the van was ready to go, but he wasn’t working so he wanted to wait until Friday. We agreed, and when we came Friday double check, it wasn’t ready. So we had to wait with our 10 month old in the lobby for an hour because he couldn’t just be honest about not being ready.Now about the financing, they tried to use another bank to finance us, when we didn’t agree to that, and then I find out that they ran 4 hard credit checks each on my fiancé and I. Again, we could have just gone to our bank and they knew that.Basically, like every car dealer out there, the sales people are shady and will try to convince you they’re not.

Scheduled my appointment to have a new key made and a fob programmed. Was told it would be 30 minutes to an hour waited around for 2 hours just to have the key that doesn’t work copied. Though I was offered a discount I’m still highly unsatisfied due to the miscommunication and waste of time when I came in and was very specific to what the issue was and what services needed to be done. When I called to speak with the service associate I worked with my call wasn’t even answered. I hope This gets worked out because it is very unlikely that I will return to this dealer.

I had an absolutely excellent sales experience at Richardson! Tim Eppler is a top notch salesman that was attentive to my needs and confident in his approach without being pushy at all. Truck was detailed upon my arrival and they even installed a set of mud flaps AFTER negotiation was completed! Not only would I recommend Richardson, I would and will buy from them again as long as they have what I am looking for! Their finance department was great and did not try to push all of the extra$$ dealer perks (junk) on me at all. Very reasonable dealer doc fees. Their figures matched mine and it was a done deal! I am a very happy customer and I love my truck!I was not very impressed with the detail department and their ability to touch up rock chips... They used the wrong color and I can see it. Can’t thank Sam Weber and the team at Richardson Motors enough for the stellar customer service! We live in Des Moines area. Found the perfect truck for us on Richardson’s website. We couldn’t make the trip to Dubuque (3.5 hours away) so Sam sent us several videos and photos, even putting the truck on the lift so I could see underneath. Negotiated everything over phone and text. Fair trade-in offer on our truck, which they didn’t even see. Sam drove the new truck to us, we signed all papers in our kitchen and he drove our trade back! A week later, when the battery died in our new-to-us truck, they sent a check for the replacement cost! So refreshing to work with an honest auto dealer that actually cares about their customers. Worth checking out, even if you are in the Des Moines area.

Just getting around to this but both our vehicles had some issues the past month or so. My cars key broke off after several years and my wifes car had some unexpected issues. Normally I am not take it into the dealership guy but my regular mechanics in Dubuque have retired or moved on. Both times we got excellent service at fair prices - no suspicion at all they were pushing extra costs on us. Bought our last car there and that experience was like most places - nothing better or worse (I hate buying cars) but have 100% confidence their service folks are doing right by us.

Dropped my 2015 GMC Yukon off for a transmission slipping concern(3rd time) on a Friday November 2020. I supplied the dealer with 2 different bulletins that pertained to my concern. They had to order parts to make the necessary repairs, which was one of the bulletins. Called me to let me know parts were ordered for Monday. I had to call Monday and Tuesday to get any type of update. Finally Wednesday they called and informed me the repair had been completed. Power had been disconnected and I had to reset all settings that lost power. They did however supply me with very nice rentals. The completed bulletin was released in November of 2016. Wondering how it takes 3 trips and the customer supplying the bulletin before a repair is made. I feel sorry for customers that dont have the resources I have to get this information.

First, bought a truck that was supposedly serviced and all ready to go....got home and checked everything over to find out the oil looked like it had about 10,000 miles on it. Pretty disappointed after spending 60k.Then on my second trip to your dealership just a few days ago your mechanics did a few recalls on my truck and just like before I got home and checked everything over to find the block heater cord that was replaced never got finished and was laying on top of the motor. If I hadn’t looked under the hood it would have been wrapped around the fan....nice work!!

I had an issue with my GMC Savana and they fixed many things on it that needed to be replaced. However, it still stalled after getting it back. Jack assured me they would fix it as soon as possible to make sure it doesn’t stall anymore. He kept me informed through the whole process which I appreciated greatly. I have had it back a few days now, and I am relieved to have it running correctly so I can continue using it for work.

So here’s my total experience with Richardson. Bought a preowned certified 2017civic hatchback Sport. Salesman was awesome, the extended warranty dude(not sure what his actual title is) continuously pushed me for a ten year warranty to the point that I almost walked away from the sale. There were a few issues that needed fixing before I bought it, and they were not fixed properly. The car was not aligned properly either which added extra tear on one of my tires, and was extra money out of my pocket. So eventually I talked to the service manager about the one issue, he told me I’d get a new grill put in for free. Everyone was nice, not sure if they did put a new grill in since that wasn’t eve the part that was broken. I was told they “welded” the rubber strip to its proper place. I am a welder. It is my living. You cannot weld rubber. It is glued, just like they did before, which broke apart. So hopefully it stays this time. There were also new deep scratches in my fender that I do not remember being there...I can’t say for sure it happened there, but if you have work done take a pic of your car before and after you get it. Maybe it happened a few days prior and I didn’t notice it...anyway, overall, I’ll just buy a brand new car next time around and probably not from Richardson.

Hands down best experience I ever had with the car buying process! From the minute we walked in til the minute we left the staff at Richardson Motors went above and beyond to make sure we were getting what we wanted and we understood everything. We told them what we wanted and they made it happen. I wasn’t told oh hey I can’t do that but I can do this....it was extremely refreshing. My salesman was Darren and he was so down to earth and just so easy to talk to. I didn’t even feel like I was buying a new vehicle honestly. Then the sales manager came out to seal the deal (lol) he was also amazing and funny. Then finally signing paperwork with the finance manager Justin. He gave us tips on how to handle our payments/interest. He also gave us tips on bettering our credit. Basically what I am saying is these employees at this dealership aren’t just doing their job. They are doing something they really enjoy/love and it’s showing in how they treat their customers. I don’t do reviews usually and I’m an extremely honest person so this should show how happy I really am. I will definitely be returning

Post #1: I will update after my vehicle is done being serviced but so far Im wildly impressed with Tj in the service center and the helpfulness of all the staff. I purchased my car from a dealership not local 4 months ago with a warranty that they give me issues on. Tj went above and beyond to help track down the proper information to get my car back safely on the road. I know where well be purchasing our next vehicle from! I may have just found the one dealership my family can build a relationship with and trust!Edit #2: The dealership I bought it from screwed me over BIG time but TJ did all he could to help. Sadly we cannot afford to fix it beings were a young family with 3 kids during the holidays but I recommend Richardson for your needs and please stay away from any Quad Cities dealerships...lesson learned!Edit #3 *Final Edit*: After no luck with the selling dealership I called Honda Corporate to see if there was anything they could do and they located an extended warranty on the part for my VIN and Richardson Motors once again went above and beyond to get my vehicle in and serviced within 24hrs of getting the parts. They also gave me a loaner car so I could get to work. Cant thank Tj and the Richardson Motors team enough 👍

Was looking at vehicles and had Brittain Houghton as a salesman. Brittain was extremely unprofessional, unhelpful and very pushy. He even called me a few days later and said he had a vehicle they just got in that I might be interested in, but when I asked him details about it, he “couldn’t find it anymore” even though he just told me he “was just looking at it and that’s why he called”. He called me and instantly started telling lies just to get me back in to the dealership. Would not recommend going to this dealership and especially wouldn’t recommend dealing with Brittain. If this is the type of people Richardson employs and trusts to sell their vehicles, what does that say about the company itself?

Arrived to discuss a new lease at the dealerships request to trade in my current lease. I had scheduled an appointment at their request I assume because of the pandemic. I arrived and nobody knew I was coming. 4 men not wearing masks were starting at me befuddled. Asked to move forward with the process as I was now at the dealership. Salesman sat me down, discussing model and then color. He then walked me outside on the extreme heat (80F at 10 am) to show me the car and didn’t bother to bring the keys. I left...SMH!

I would highly recommend against getting your vehicle serviced at Richardson motors. Upon purchasing our 2017 Honda Civic sport hatchback, I informed our salesman that the grill had come out of the bumper, and that I would like it fixed before purchasing. To fix the grill, the service department glued it to the bumper cover. I would have been ok with this fix, had they actually ensured that the grill was going to stay put where they glued it. Instead, they glued it, and had nothing put pressure on it to hold it into the bumper. Now our grill is glued to the bumper, and sticking out, in the incorrect location. I was going to sweep this under the rug, but after our last service, which was nothing more that a simple oil change, and tire rotation, I have found the service department to be completely incompetent. The front tires of our Honda Civic call for 35 psi, and the rears 33. To rotate the tires the pressures must be changed. Today, our low tire pressure light came on. I filled all the tires to their proper pressure ratings, however when I went to unscrew the aftermarket valve cap that we put on our wheels, I noticed that the front right cap was cranked on with a toothed wrench, leaving noticeable damage. I can also no longer remove this cap, and have a low tire with a cross threaded over tightened cap. I would advise to look elsewhere for vehicle service, the techs at Richardson just do not care about your vehicle. This coupled with the high pressure extended warranty sale, ( which we did not purchase) made buying our vehicle from Richardson something we never want to go through again. Get it together.Edit: lance was able to take care of us today. After explaining our issues, they did right and repaired our damaged valve stem, and ordered us a replacement grill for the damaged one that was sold to us with the vehicle. Thank you!

I would first want to start out with I would never recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from Richardson Motors. We went to purchase a new Cadillac XT6 in April of 2020 and will never purchase another vehicle from them again. When talking about financing options the salesman mislead us rather than finding out what the financing options really were. When we came back the next night to sign papers was when we were made aware that the financing options he said we would get werent even an option. The General manager stated he would make it right with us, and that we would hear back from them, however after 4 weeks we still have not heard from them. I sent an email to the General Manager and the store owner and its been 4 days with not a single response. They are talking about how great of service they strive to give, yet I havent seen service at all. They also clearly fail to train their sales associates on the products/ financing options available. When they are in the business of selling a luxury car like a Cadillac these problems should not arise. Once again, if you are thinking about purchasing a vehicle from Richardson Motors- Dont. It will be worth your time to find a new dealership.

I just picked up my fourth new Honda from Richardson. The service department is knowledgeable, personable, and keeps me coming back for my next vehicle purchase.Only thing Id improve is the shuttle service. For reasons likely beyond the drivers control, they are often late. I can be flexible, but it would be nice to know whats going on. Instead of a clipboard, it would be awesome if they had an app to keep track of their pickups, and automatically send customers text notifications when they need to deviate from the schedule.

Took my car in for an airbag recall which was completed the same day. Also had them diagnose why my vsa and check engine light was on. Found out that I needed to have my timing chain replaced. 2020 - first time in 20 years did they ever charge me $80 just to look at my vehicle... shop guy was relatively young compared to the service Im familiar with. Said things I would generally consider suspicious, for example, suggesting that old parts are good to be replaced even if they arent broken. He also complained mildly that I didnt come back to get my vehicle fast enough, (within three days.) My vehicle was moved to a new location around the opposite side of the building. He offered to show me the location and then passive-aggresively didnt. All in all Im still for this business but Im not appreciating the new faces and attitudes. I mean, Ive bought two new cars in two years so I cant say I dont like the place but this last experience for vehicle repair was a little button pushing.2018 - Good service. A little higher on the price but theyre good on their work and no funny business.

Mr. Tierney provided a poor sales experience. My girlfriend and I had gone in, specifically looking at the 2016 or newer Honda Civic. I opted not to drive the car in my previous visit, in order to avoid attachment before the numbers worked out.When taken to try out the car, the mileage did not line up with the mileage on the website. It took less than five minutes to notice the car lacked the CVT of the newer models. We asked to see the other car instead, and when he brought it out, we were sprayed by the windshield wiper fluid. The apology which followed lacked in sincerity.The driving experience was much better, and wed been told that trade-in on my car was about 8k. Mr. Tierney then said that the numbers hed worked out were for the 2015 model. After coming back with a number of 10k, that placed the cost above what was listed, essentially paying more for a trade-in they called about in the first place. That was more than enough to keep us from coming back.The two retained stars are because of ease of parking, and because I shouldnt have assumed I was being listened to by sales.

I needed some work done on my car and they were able to get me in quickly. The staff was friendly and I was given a complimentary ride while my car was being fixed. I was told that a sensor that has a lifetime warranty on it needed replaced and was told the part would be ordered. I never heard back about it. Other than that small thing I would recommend getting work done here.

The entire Richardson service staff were incredible... We drove to the area from Florida in our new 18 Odyssey Elite. Our car would not start in the cold and was towed to Richardson. Chad listened to our story and despite 4 days of service closure over the New Years Holiday and a booked service department, he worked us in first thing in the morning and we were able to head back south instead of having to wait until the next available appointment 2 days later! I could not have been more pleased. The entire staff were awesome!!

The Sales team spent the time to search for my perfect vehicle, even though they don’t specialize in Subarus. When it came time for financing, they found me a great rate and the paperwork took less than five minutes to complete. I have had a very positive experience with this dealership. We specifically dealt with the salesman John Tierney and I was pleased that he offered his personal contact information--this came in handy to coordinate when our car needed servicing. As a side note, I would also recommend Honda Care when you buy your car (service plan administered through Honda, not through the dealership). In my experience, they are more professional, organized and timely than AAA.
