Great crew, nice boat, and they work hard to put you on fish. Three trips on this boat in three years, be back next year. Definitely recommend the overnight or multi day trips. Still great fishing no matter how long of a charter you choose.

Not a great experience, we booked a 6 hour charter weeks in advance and when we get there at 12PM they tell us our boat broke down last night. No phone call or email the night before or morning of, we wasted half a day getting ready for a fishing trip that was never going to happen.To top it off we see on their Facebook page later that day they ended up bringing a charter out on the same boat, no call or email asking if we wanted to go after being cancelled with no notification.

Poor communication and poor customer service. Showed up at 5 am. With 4 kids. Nobody there. Tried to call and no answer. Disappointed.

We booked a 1/2 trip with these guys and it was the best trip we have been on in Destin. We have had numerous trips in Destin over the years but this one was hands down the best. The first mate Zack was patient with our group of 7 and we have never had someone that organized us where we did not get our lines crossed up all day! He gave us the right directions at the right time and kept us baited and fishing while helping get our fish in. Top notch guy. Captain Phillip put us on the fish and knew when to pick up and move to a new spot every time. We caught our limit in snapper before the time was up then moved to grouper and even hooked a large shark. When we returned to the dock we had considerably more fish than any boat around us and several large ones as well. On the way in, Phillip let us sit up in the wheelhouse with him and get the view from there. He also let us climb up and get a view from the third level of the boat where we got some great pictures. There is no telling how many pounds of snapper filets we took home. Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend the Backdown2 for a fishing trip and it will be the boat we book again.

Ive been on several trips on the Back Down II in the past fifteen years and every last one of them was a success. The stories that my friends and I have will last us a lifetime and when work or life gets a little intense I can close my eyes and envision being out of sight of land where the air is clean the breeze is refreshing and the reef donkeys are kicking my butt - on the Back Down II. Captain Jarvis runs a tight ship, he knows the waters and he must have a sixth sense when it comes to finding fish. Im looking forward to more trips and more memories in the future.

During a family vacation in Destin, FL I wanted to take my family out on a sport fishing trip. Not being from that area I went and asked the local tackle shops who they would recommend. The Back Down 2 was highly recommended and eventually was the boat I chose to go out on. I have been fishing for many years but my family, wife and 2 daughters, had never been. I told Gary what I wanted to do and he gladly took my family out fishing. We had an unbelievable trip. Gary and his staff not only got us on some fish but they were very patient and courteous to my girls. At one point in the trip my youngest daughter ended up behind the captains wheel and talking Garys ears off. I highly recommend the Back Down 2 for your next fishing trip.

If you want to catch more fish than you can imagine, I highly recommend the Backdown 2. I have personally made the mistake of trying to find a cheaper option and it turned into a disaster. Captain Gary runs an immaculate boat with the best crew that I have ever fished with (I have fished offshore all my life). Spend the extra money and get the best!

If you want to go catch big fish, this is the boat to go on. The sign coming into Destin says worlds luckiest fishing village. Well if you fish with Capt Gary you will not be relying on luck, he knows his business. Oh and a very big nice boat to match for when the weather gets not so nice out. You will not go wrong fishing on the Back Down 2.

Our trip was May 2016... IT WAS AWESOME!! Hopefufully Gary has been enlightened with a new outlook to real vienna sausage eaters. LOL We caught a limit of amberjack, huge grouper with a rare yellow fin grouper. Travis done an excellent job!! The boat is extremely comfortable and well maintained.

Kings or Better Went out July 10th for a 10 hour tour, Simply put Family Time Catchen Capt. Jarvis keep us on fish all day, Robert worked his butt off! Thanks BackDown2, We hit Limits on Reds, and Kings, Caught a few Scamp, White Snaps, Dolphin, even a small Sail Fish! Bottom Line Super Trip!!!

This captain and owner believes you should pay him to catch red snapper even if you have a boat and are capable of going out and catching your own. Here is a direct copy and paste from his FB pg. The NMFS announced the federal waters 2015 red snapper season as on will be 44 days for recreational anglers who access the fishery aboard federally permitted Charter for Hire vessels. And 10 days for Private Boat anglers. 2015 is the first time that their has been a separation of the 2 main user groups of the recreational fishing sector. This was accomplished by the hard work of the CFA Charter Fishermans Association He was the pres of CFA IF YOU DO NOT WANT OUR FISHERIES TO BE FOR HIRE ONLY DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS CAPTAIN. There are plenty of charter captains that do not agree with sector seperation and the demise of recreational fishing (unless you pay him to go)

Charter fishing on the Back Down 2 is a different experience than you will ever have on other Fishing boats in the destin charter fleet.We cost more by about $25 per hr than alot of the other boats in Destin but once you meet the BD2 crew and then step on board the boat you can see why. The Back Down 2 is one of the nicest if not the nicest boats in Destin as far as charter boats go.Tackle is first class and the way the 2 mates treat you and how much time they take to teach you how to fish is a good experience especially if you are fishing with children and significant others.The crew will treat you as family and fun is the most important part of the trip. All you have to do is go on the Back Down 2 web site or come by the dock a few days in a row and see why the Back Down 2 is considered one of the premier charter companies in Destin. voted Best in Destin by Destin Magizine in 2014. .

Im Team Foulmouths Capt. And we follow Capt. Jarvis direction aboard the Backdown 2. Our 5th consecutive tournament is scheduled this year with their crew. Garys put us on the fish and put us in 1st place twice, and 2nd place twice..not bad for a bunch of Michigan boys fishing the Gulf!.. 1st rate ship, Capt., and crew, and always loads of laughs!

I have fished on the Backdown2 3 times 48hr first time and caught one of the biggest Amberjacks on the trip also 100s of pounds of other fish 12hr second time 3 of us hauled in more fish than we could keep also a huge shark 3rd trip 72hrs and caught so many fish were putting fish in the drink coolers..oh and we won 1st and 2nd place Tuna and Mahi-Mahi in the Destin Fishing Rodeo!!This is the only boat Ill fish on great Captain and best Crew!!

Gary is the BEST in Sandestin hands down.
