Andrew carried all of our stuff and made sure we knew where everything else on the boat was. Had a great time. There where some other people “working” there but Andrew was the only one out of them that lifted a finger. Highly recommend this company, make sure to ask for Andrew.

Well... Where to begin? Ive been trying to reach someone at this place for days to get a refund for my nearly $500 since this storm is turning the water into certain death, but these people have a full mailbox and quite obviously (after calling over 50 times) dont answer their phone. Dont bother leaving a sms callback number either because theyre not calling you anytime soon. We decide to drive here to talk to someone in person, and low and behold, theyre locked up tight. Just sent them an email and got an immediate response though. Not about my refund, but to ask about signing up for deal notifications like lol Wow! So, needless to say, my experience with Sunshine Watersports Destin is pretty terrible. Im not recommending it to anyone.Update: the day after I posted the initial review, a guy called me and said it was because of the hurricane that he could not drive to work or answer the phone or call me back or anything until after the day of my rental.

Great experience with this place. easy to book online (and cheaper than most other places). fastest check-in process ive ever experienced at a boat rental place. Alex got us situated and on the boat in less than 5 minutes. Then he ran through everything we needed to know about the local area and was there on the dock when we got back. the pontoon boat was clean and ran very well. will be back for sure!

The option was return and get an older boat.We were not told anything about the boat’s performance because the manager didn’t respond to calls or texts. What about them popping the engine cover and fixing a cable as soon as we returned? They were sold-out this year, so we chose Sunshine.The front desk staff was friendly, but the entire check-in was as disorganized an operation Ive ever seen. The boats performance was disappointing and clearly had an issue which has fallen on deaf ears.Before getting into our review, weve read some of the managements snarky responses to previous negative reviews and before they attack this customers character to preserve their own self-image, Ill assure you were not high-maintenance or miserable. The first red-flag before we pushed back was none of the gauges worked except RPMs. No biggie - that happens - we just need to know if were floating and it runs.After leaving the harbor at idle, the engines performance didnt change much advancing to full-throttle. Our 60hp Mercury engine was getting passed with ease by similar boats. A craft that should top out around 18 miles an hour was doing - at best - 5mph. We called from the bay and were given an option to return it for a different pontoon, but with a caution that the one left was much older and to choose wisely. We dealt with it for the rest of the day, but the experience was certainly limited by not being able to cruise or even create enough breeze for it to be enjoyable. We were met on the dock at the end of the day by a manger who popped the engine cover off and said wish I wouldve known it was doing that and pulled some cables. Immediately he identified an issue, but not sure thats the only one.His desk staff shared his cell phone number with us as we carried our stuff to the top of the stairs. He had ours as well. He was going to test drive the boat to identify the problem and follow up. We feel we should be compensated for the reduced experience being able to cruise effectively at appropriate speed. Weve texted him. Twice. Its been 48 hours and no response. They have our money, we returned their boat on time and wont be back to Destin until next year, so why should they bother? We wont be returning to Sunshine if they have the last boat in the bay.This company defends itself in other reviews for being known for its excellent customer service, but I would recommend they take a spin with one of the competitors down the harbor to learn what theyre up against.

They had to cancel due to high winds. They charged our credit card and did not refund their credit card fee and stated that they don’t get that back. They are making money off of customers by stating this, this is not accurate.

I looked at the website it said fall boat rental rates start 9/8/2020. I went to rent a boat on 9/9/2020. The lady asks what price were you quoted. I told her about the price I say on the internet. She said no i changed that this morning the owner decided not to change from the sumer rates. Just saying if you ask what price were you quoted the price that was advertised should count.

I booked TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE and also called to confirm my booking two days prior to arrival just to get here an they tell me they didn’t have my phone number an gave our boat away an refunded me my money. They definitely had my number , email , etc. an besides that I called two days in advance to MAKE SURE!!! So unprofessional an disappointing! - Who would give a fake number an email after paying $250 wow try again also how tf is the number fake when he ‘ALEX’ said he had no number on file period , hows the reservation fake if my money was refunded? exactly get your LIE STRAIGHT! , how About I add pics of my receipt WITH MY REAL EMAIL AND REAL PHONE NUMBER! Not every negative review is a LIE! You’re clearly just unprofessional and need to train your employees a little better! I still have the call in my phone where I confirmed my reservation just the other day!! maybe I should post a pic of that too!

Horrible. Boat governed at a quarter throttle, can hardly go fast for “safety reasons”. Why pay SO much money to be limited on an already slow boat. Limited to the green/brown waters of the bay. No freedom what so ever. Valet will most likely wreck your car. Would’ve had a better time in the blue waters behind my condo. Do yourself a favor and spend 500$ somewhere else.

This is by far your best option in terms of renting pontoon boats. The service is beyond great and you will be delighted with the joy it brings to you.

Sunshine and their wonderful staff went above and beyond to make our pontoon experience in Destin a great trip to remember. They were able to book me and my family last minute and helped us by bringing our coolers down the stairs. the staff was very nice and even taught us how to drive the pontoon boat to crab island. on our way back to the docks we even got to see dolphins in the harbor! This was a great experience and we highly recommend this extraordinary business!

We rented a pantoon for the first time and it was a great experience. They valet our vehicle, carried our things to the pantoon and helped with everything. For sure we will be coming back to them. The prices are also reasonable, I had looked around and other places bump the prices.

My whole family rented 2 pontoon boats and we had a blast! Every time you pull up to the dock the staff is super helpful making sure we constantly have cold drinks while supplying lots of ice! Definitely would go back!

The customer service was phenomenal. Easy parking. They have free ice with the purchase of a rental. They have speakers incase you forgot yours. They also have a gentleman (the dockhand) that carrys your cooler down to the boat dock to make your experience a little easier. All in all it was an amazing experience and my wife and I will definitely be back. !

I rented a pontoon boat for 4 hours at Sunshine Watersports and my wife and kids loved it! The boat was great and easy to drive. We spent most of our time at crab island and cruised around the bay a little bit. I would recommend renting from sunshine watersports. We are planning on visiting Destin again before the kids go back to school and i reserved two boats for 8 hours this time. The staff was also awesome. To top it off, we went to eat dinner after our rental and at the table next to us was Ed Rodgers. After he was done eating he stopped by our table to thank us for choosing Sunshine and to our surprise he covered our dinner bill!!! That really made us feel good! Thanks Mr. Rodgers! Well spread the word about our wonderful experience with Sunshine! And well be back again soon!

So my first time ever even wanting to go to Destin and we rented our boat through.. Sunshine Watersports Destin ... I came from GA! We got ALL the way to Destin and these people tell us $1000 for a deposit. 😱 I expected $500. But $1000? They got “word” that there was going to be a “riot”. 🤦🏾‍♀️ So we agree to pay and then they told us they’re “CLOSING”. YES they refunded the money but that is besides the point. You had time to relay this information way in advance!!! I’m so disappointed. NEVER AGAIN

Last year (2018) I rented a pontoon boat from them, the boat was malfunctioning before we even left the dock and they switched the boat with no issues. This last week (2019) I had a trip planned to go back to Destin, made a reservation for a full day with pontoon boat but at the last minute canceled my trip because my toddler ended up very sick. It slipped my mind that I had a reservation and forgot to cancel it 24 hours in advance. They were very understanding of my situation and did not charge me. I highly recommend this company between the very reasonable rates and the awesome customer service they provide. I will stick with this company for all of my future Destin trips.

Growing up, my family always went on beach vacations to Destin and we always used Sunshine for boat and jet ski rentals. Now, my fiancé and I use Sunshine every year and we love it! The staff was great! The deckhands are amazing! I was thoroughly impressed with how much they helped us! Alex and Catherine were both very helpful and sweet! We will definitely be returning the next time we’re in Destin! When we were leaving, Mr. Ed the owner even went out of his way to introduce himself to us and thanked us for the business and made sure everything went ok with rental and that the staff treated us well. We used to rent from Wet-n-Wild pontoon. After a really bad experience, they are off our list. Sunshine, on the other hand, was amazing from start to finish. Friendly and helpful staff. Brand new 2017 boats. Best price. And, they let you have the boat from 8:00 - 6:00 -- ten full hours compared to most at eight hours. Be sure and tip the deck hands. They work hard and are awesome.

The boats were in great shape and the staff gave us a great briefing beforehand thoroughly explaining everything! They have the best customer service!!! So polite, and helpful. We arrived to this business by Uber, and found that our destination, Crab island bar was closed. We ordered another Uber, to find it would be a 35 minute wait to run to a liquor store that was only a few minute drive. The owner offered to drive us. We were back in minutes. He and his family went above and beyond to make sure our day out on their boat was fun. They deckhands helped us carry our belongings onto the boat. The boat was very clean. The price was very affordable. We definitely will return! Very satisfied customer!!!

We took a Dolphin tour on wave runners and it was amazing! Somehow our reservation had dropped off the books but Alex did some rearranging and took us out and we had a wonderful time. If you want to see Dolphins this is the way to do it! Thanks again Alex!

My family and I really enjoyed our boat rental. We went straight to crab island and spent the whole day there. It was not only perfect for the adults but the kids as well. We showed up expecting to have a nice time on a boat but I feel like we got much more than that. My son is autistic but the sweet girl at the front desk sat there and talked and played with him while we were filling out the paperwork. She treated him so kindly and even sat there and colored with him while we were waiting. Her patients with my son could not be more appreciated. We will be back and we will recommend everyone we know.

Made reservations on Sep 19 for sep 20 when arrived to check in need told that can’t go out because of waves, would be good to get at least call back to inform us so we wouldn’t have to drive all the way here and could of think of other activities.

We rented a boat during our vacation stay in Destin, we all had a great time and wonderful experience. From the moment we got there we received excellent customer service, they unloaded and loaded every for us, provided ice for our drinks and explained very well all the instructions on what to do and what not to do. Was easy to booked the boat but I will do recommend to make your reservations at least a day or two in advance because they do booked quick. The owner of Sunshine Water Sports is AMAZING!!! We were informed that the local spot in the water no longer held a Liqour license and of course, didn’t bring any with us as we were going to purchase our drinks on the water. We called an Uber that would of been a 30 minutes to drive us to the nearest store. The OWNER personally gave us a ride himself!! He would not take payment for the ride but allowed us to give it to his staff. What a guy, owner and boss!! Everyone there was so friendly, Knowledgeable and even offer to come out an pick up your party/boat if the group has too much to drink (we made it back safe). Wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!

Rented a pontoon this morning. Boat was in great condition. Water was beautiful but choppy so we chose to come back early (at no fault of Sunshine!). When we docked the boat was so far from the dock that barely made the step and fell on the dock. Kinda ruined the vibe and hurt horribly. Overall experience was okay but wouldnt recommend for the price. Do the parasail next door! It was amazing!

When I was calling around to get pricing, most places acted annoyed that I was calling. When I was told to give Sunshine a try, I got Alex on the phone. He was the absolute best! He was so helpful, answered all my questions and got me set up with my reservation. When we got there the day of our reservation, our experience got even better. Alex was working up at the front and made the whole process go so smoothly. Kade, Cole and Garrett then carried all of our stuff down to the boat for us and even iced up our ice chests. They showed us everything we needed to know about the boat (thank goodness) and then Katelynn took pictures for us. I could not be more thankful for the Sunshine staff. We will definitely be back!

Prepaid for a pontoon rental $ 212.00 and had to cancel for weather. Contacted Ed the manager for a refund. Provided supporting documentation that he had requested 5 visits and 20 unanswered phone calls. He has one of his employees inform me ,no refund but a credit. A credit doesnt due a whole lot of good in the North Georgia mountains. Definitely not a way to do business in a tourist town. BUYER BEWARE !!!
