This place has changed dramatically in the past year, and the front desk manager (Mark) has become incredibly rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful.Let me start by saying that I rarely write negative reviews and that I do so only when I feel the need to warn others.I brought my car in to have the A/C freon checked, because I noticed it wasnt as cold as before. Ive had my 2011 Honda Civic for 10 years, and Ive never added any freon.I get a call that my car is ready (no information on what was done or why). Mark charged me $118 to **remove freon** and change the cabin air filter. He never asked before doing any of these things, he just did them & charged me. When I called to ask him why freon was removed, he said that his tool said the freon was too high, but the tool could have been wrong. He was guessing when he removed the freon. I asked him if my cabin air filter looked bad, and he replied with, I dont know, I didnt see it. I dont have time to call every single customer about their car, just like doctors dont have time to call their patients. (False... my doctor always calls me & explains treatment options) He proceeded to tell me how cars are actually more complicated than the human body, and continued to compare himself to a medical doctor multiple times... still with no explanation as to why he Removed freon from my car without asking. In general he was just very rude and seemed annoyed with me, like I was bothering him with my stupidity. I didnt feel like I was taken seriously at all.EDIT: After reading my review, Mark had his assistant Sam (who is very nice by the way) call me to explain that he did not actually remove freon from my car. So... Im not sure what they actually did to my car, to be honest. In case Mark is reading this, let me iterate my concerns one more time: If youre not sure how to fix a customers car concern: 1) Call them & tell them youre not sure, but you have an idea that xyz *might* help, and you can do that for X dollars. 2) If the customer agrees to that, go ahead & perform the work & charge. What doesnt make sense is doing something to someones car without asking, giving them the bill, and when they ask you questions why they did xyz, you reply with I dont have an answer for you. Thats insane. Why did you do this to my car? I dont know Is this a prank show? I wish it were. Either way, I had a good laugh today, for the low price of $118.

I have taken my car (2005 Toyota Matrix base model) to Summit twice now. Mark, Nikki in the office are great, personable and efficient. The service folks do a terrific job. I haven’t been “upcharged” or pressured for anything they didn’t believe was necessary. I am so thankful to have a trustworthy place to bring my old jalopy. They keep him running like a much younger car!! Check them out. They’re also close (0.7 miles) from MARTA so you can drop off and get to work. COVID19 reduced hours - 8 am to 5 pm Mon - Fri.

I just recently purchased my 2005 Volvo S40 and noticed a loud noise accompanied with violent bumping whenever I drove. It made my vehicle sit and drive in an unbearable way, so I looked up auto shops that serviced Volvos in the area since I just moved here in March. Everywhere couldnt see me for far out dates, and Summit told me to come in at 8 am the next day- so I did and they took me early, called me by noon giving me the diagnosis, and had me back in my car by 4:30 pm and all at a very reasonable price. My right rear wheel assembly was messed up and they were very honest and thorough with everything. This is now my go-to auto service shop. Highly recommend.

Im writing on behalf of my experience as well as my boyfriends experience with Summit. A few weeks ago I called Summit for the first time to get a quote for a 100k mile inspection on my Toyota. The receptionist, Jane, was discourteous and impatient as I fumbled my way through trying to describe the service I needed for my car. After she eagerly ended the call with me, I called a different auto shop nearby and decided to take my car there instead, strictly because of their better phone etiquette.A couple weeks later the check engine light on my boyfriends new Kia lit up. Summit auto is the closest shop to our house, so I hesitantly read through the positive google reviews again to motivate myself to give them another try, out of convenience. I figured that maybe their receptionist was merely having a bad day when I called her previously.Unfortunately, either shes prone to having a bad day, or she is not trained to communicate professionally and amicably with customers. Every single phone call that my boyfriend endured with her through the 2 day course of his car being repaired was impolite, impatient, and more importantly uncommunicative. At one point, when my boyfriend called during one of his only work breaks to ask about his car, she audaciously cut him off saying Im really busy right now, I cant talk to you about this. The service itself was fine. The car is running well so we have no complaints with that but...Jane, you dont have to be nice. But please understand that there are many, many other auto shops in the area that are also extremely busy. And several of those busy shops are courteous to their customers, especially the customers who are spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars at your establishment. And the reality is that customers will go to where they can get both great service, and great attitude/communication.

I googled several places and felt comfortable with the reviews I read about this place so had my Celica towed to Summit. It would only stay running after being jumped for a few minutes. I assumed it was my alternator and even mentioned that to staff I spoke to. My battery was what was actually toast, which they replaced (they called for permission first) and after a test drive they determined thats all that needed to be done. They called me back w/ this info and I was delighted. I also mentioned I was burning oil and asked them to go forward with repairs on this too. They replaced my valve cover gasket along with spark plugs and my car is now running fantastic at a very reasonable price. The fact that they were honest/friendly/fast and only performed what needed to be done goes a LONG way with me, and others that come here, apparently. I will be sending friends who need work done here in a heartbeat. As long as I live in the Atlanta area, I will take my cars here for any work I cant do myself. Thank you Summit!! Best experienced Ive ever had with an auto repair shop, hands down.

I just setup another appointment for that very same mistake. Summit Auto Service is the best Toyota repair shop I know of. We have a Scion and a Toyota and they have always treated them very well and at a fair price. They are experts with a number of different imports including Volvos. But since they are known for their Toyota service thats who we went to when we had a charcoal filter issue in the Scion that a Toyota dealer wanted over $700 to fix. Just moved from Decatur to OTP and I realized how much I had come to depend on Summit Auto being close to my old house. The folks there are honest, and will not charge you for repairs you dont need. I have comparison shopped for repairs on my car with other recommended repair shops and Summit always had the best plan of action for the best price in order to get my car back on the road. The kicker is that most of the time, the final price was lower than what I was quoted which is unheard of. On more than one occasion we thought there may be more problems than there actually was. I agreed to pay to fix everything and once they got into the car, they realized there were less problems than initially thought. An dishonest shop would go ahead and make the unnecessary repairs which Summit did not do. Ive got no problem recommending these guys.

I started coming here shortly after moving to Atlanta based on a recommendation and have been coming here ever since. The prices are reasonable and they always treat me with respect (as a woman, that has not been my experience at every auto shop). The first time I came here there was a problem with the brakes, and I asked (when I picked it up) if the problem had been caused by any type of driving or care. He replied, Its just old and wants to return to dust. Like all things it began as dust, and wants to return to dust.I came to get your car fixed, I stayed for the existential philosophy.

Edit/update: I usually dont bother updating a review, but I wanted to make sure that my singular experience wasnt just luckily catching Summit on an unusually good day. A trustworthy mechanic can be hard to find, after all. Im happy to report they are consistently fantastic. I went here again for a not-so-small mystery leak, which turned out to be power steering fluid, and the power steering rack had to be repaired. Once again, Jane was a boss in getting me scheduled and letting me know the outcome, while the mechanics were great in finding the least expensive solution to a legitimate problem. They went the extra mile looking for used parts and getting my rustbucket of a car (its from New England) successfully disassembled to replace as few parts as possible. Ive read some reviews saying Jane isnt friendly, but I actually like and respect her no nonsense approach. Perhaps that makes me likewise unfriendly in how much eternal pleasantries drive me up a wall, but I feel like Summit respects that everyones time is valuable.Original review: I own a Subaru Forester and needed some scheduled maintenance plus a repair of my driver window. I first asked Stivers Subaru for a quote while I already there taking care of a recall notice. I was quoted about $1500 for what I needed. Considering the largest cost was the scheduled preventative maintenance, I was completely flabbergasted. I even considered, however fleetingly, that maybe I should just sell my car because it was insane that this would cost roughly 25+% of my cars current total value.I came across Summit because it was highly recommended by my neighbors. I gave them a call, said what I needed, and Jane replied Yeah, thats an expensive one. I cringed, but then she quoted me about $500 for the service. The window would be a mystery until they looked at it. It turned out to be a broken motor and they had to order the part, but all in, it cost me $750 dollars. Yeah, thats literally half of Stivers.Im not sure if Stivers uses gold-plated unicorn-crafted parts or what, but Im overjoyed with the service I received at Summit. Jane was always informative in telling me what was going on with my car and she managed to do so without either inflating everything to seem dire (ie. expensive) or being condescending. The after-hours dropbox for keys was incredibly convenient so I didnt have to beat morning traffic to get my car there. The receipt was itemized and in plain language to tell me exactly what was done. The shop was an easy walk from the Avondale MARTA station so I could pick it up right after work. This was the most painless experience I could have asked for. Ill definitely be a returning customer.

Had a brake job done here. The price was reasonable and it seems like they did a good job at it, but I didnt like the fact that they had a problem with me getting an update on progress. I called after three hours of dropping off and no one picked up after ringing in twice. So I waited one hour later and the owner picks up. He complains about not being able to hear me when I go to see what was up, but some how the receptionist could when I called her that same morning. Suspicious behavior on their part. This isnt the type of shop to do same day service, its probably best just to it leave it with them (for oil changes, brakes, routine maintenance) and pickup tomorrow, if youre ok with that sort of thing. They seem a bit slower than most.

I have been using Summit Auto since I move to the Atlanta area, I think so much of the quality of service that Marc, Jane and all the staff offer. These folks are as important to me as my Emory doctors, when your car is sick call on Summit Auto.Yesterday when I picked up my Volvo and it was due a regular service and I mentioned to Jane all the symptoms I was experience since the last visit. She called me later in the day and gave me the the sad news that I needed major A/C repairs and a new compressor. I drive older cars and my 2003 Volvo has 126,000 miles on it. I wouldnt be comfortable driving an older car with high mileage without Summits expert repair and service so nearby. After I picked up my car I decided I needed to give Summit a High 5 (five stars) after all Summit is the only auto repair I used basically since 1995. I had a new notebook that I was also experimenting with and I was using the Google Maps to locate my regular business, etc.Well I was typing a little kudos in the comment box underneath the stars and I submitted a One Star salute to Summit, I tried to undue and could not seem to figure out to navigate the notebook.I drive older cars and I should keep my paws off the new notebooks, ipads, and smartphones. So today Im on the older desktop with a keyboard so I can correct my one star Galaxy 4 Tab mistake.
