I am from out of state and this company was amazing to me after blowing a tire at a high rate of speed on the interstate. They towed me to a highly recommend tire repair shop and due to the time of day I had to wait till morning to get it repaired. So the owner offered to take me to a local motel to stay for the night. They were quick to respond and get me out of not so safe situation. I am very grateful for their assistance after a scary experience on interstate they were so professional and respectful with the upmost understanding of what there customer was going through. If you ever need towing assistance this is the company to call I highly recommend them to anyone one in area or just passing through in their travels!!!

‘Captain’ made the 100+ mile tow and ride enjoyable. If you ask, he will teach you how to make gumbo or teach you how to navigate the river systems of America or just dispense solid wisdom on life. He performed the service safely, soundly and competently.Towings rates always seem ridiculously high regardless of the company, probably due to the fact people who require towing are in a jam and have no other option but to pay, however, I-70/Slate Towing has quite competitive rates and you won’t find a significantly better deal in the Columbia area.I dropped the rating to 4 stars because it did take two hours between the request for service and the rig to appear, and while I understand it was early on a Sunday morning, I think the expectation of the wait could have been communicated more clearly and/or an update on the progress been given by the dispatch/office. That being said, I would use this company again if ever needed.

Chad saved our day!! We couldnt get our busted tire off of our car--wed thought the last mechanic to replace the tire had used lug nuts that were the wrong size. Our first roadside service call was a courtesy call sending someone out just to change the tire for us, and he couldnt even get it off. Chad came out to tow the car and ended up popping that thing right off, no problem. He explained that moisture had caused the lug nuts to expand, which is why we couldnt get any tire iron or lug wrench to work. Cool dude, very professional, and super friendly. Thanks so much, Chad! Kept me informed driver was David he was a truck driver in every sense of the word. I have 18 years OTR and was very impressed with his driving skills. On a night when other tow companies were telling us that it would be the NEXT DAY before they could come tow my car, I-70 Towing & Recovery was there in no time!! I-70 was at my house in 15 minutes! Much better than the ~other towing company I first called, who basically wrote me off and told me to call back in the morning. I didn’t get his name, but the man who helped me was super nice! He was able to jump my car for me, and I didn’t even end up needing a tow, which saved me money!!! I’d recommend them and use their services again if needed in the future :)

I was stuck in Columbia Mo. with a bus that I had purchased that was not as described. Only 20 miles down the road the bus died. Now that is when you know you are going to have a bad day. This was a large transit bus so it was going to take a large wrecker. So lets not get long into this. The 1st company called had a terrible attitude, next company I-70 Laura had a great attitude and understood my distress. Dino came to the rescue, by the time he got to us I had the bus running again but not well it was imperative to get this large vehicle off the side of the road. So Dino followed us to a safe drop off point ... Now that is Service.

HORRIBLE!! The lady on the phone hung up on me. First time Ive ever had a business hang up on me. I asked her about the charges and if she could explain them to me and she said you need to decide what you want to do and call us back *click* I was dumbfounded. Also, I wanted to get my car Saturday and they were closed so they definitely rip you off over the weekend by charging per day fee when there is no way to get your car to save you Saturday and Sunday charge. I ended up paying around $600 for tow fee plus storage from Fri-Sun. I also never even called this company to tow my car. The police officer asked if I had a tow truck company coming and I said no. He said oh, ill get one for you I thought oh, super nice, but then you find out the city must have some kind of agreement with them to split the bill because it was like $250 for an IN TOWN tow!! Lastly, I messaged them on Facebook asking for the manager to call me two different times and nothing. It really doesnt seem like they care about customers at all, just out for the money. Surprise, Surprise!

My daughters car died and the police called I-70 Towing to remove it from the road. I-70 Towing had her sign paperwork to submit to our insurance company. They did not tell her there was storage fee of $50/day, nor was this in writing in the paperwork. We have been communicating with Cars 4 Kids to donate the car to them for charity, but they were unable to get the car for several days due to the weather and road conditions. When I called I-70 Towing, they admit they dont mention the daily storage fee but would not budge about removing the cost. Insurance does not cover the storage fee and we now have a bill of $535.

Thanks to a winter storm turning my slanty parking lot into an ice rink, I found my car in a position where trying to move it myself would only cause it to slide up against another parked car. Fortunately, I-70 Towing sent me Dave to rescue my helpless RWD car from that slippery position. Not only did he extract me from that ice ramp, he delivered the car right into my own garage--something I didnt think would be possible given the grade of the incline and the slickness of the surface. But Dave is a PRO... not the hero I deserved, but the hero I needed just then. Ive never been happy to pay a wrecker driver before tonight, but he earned every dollar and then some. Dave, if youre reading this, thank you again. Oh and that YouTuber I was telling you about is GTOger, check out his stuff, theyre hilarious. Bet you didnt know you wrecker drivers have your own theme song.

My granddaughter is a student at Mizzou. On March 7, 2021 her battery in her 2016 GMC Terrain failed. After calling your company, Skipper responded in 5 minutes, and started her car and sent her on her way to get a new battery. Absolutely the best service we could ask for. Broke down on columbia on a day trip. Dave picked us up and was able to diagnose the issue. He recommended a great shop and called ahead with our vehicle info and asked them to get us in and out. He was great with the kids, funny, and offered to take us to a gas station for snack and drinks. Great experience and it made us feel a lot better about the whole situation. Dont even think about calling anyone else!

My mother was in a head on collision with a firetruck, and taken to the hospital. These fine folks towed her vehicle. When I contacted them (I spoke with Kevin) regarding getting her glasses and medications from the vehicle, I was informed they wouldnt release anything without the tow bill being paid. I explained that Id driven tow trucks roughly twenty years, and I knew they were required to release prescription glasses, and medications. I was assured they would not do that, so I thanked them and hung up, called the Columbia police department, who then called Kevin back to ask why they were refusing to release said items.Kevin assured the police department they would not refuse to release these things, and wasnt sure why I was saying otherwise. There officer called me back and told me to call him personally if there were any issues getting the items, but its since been resolved.This was not only dishonest, but illegal and cruel. My mother is disabled, on several necessary medications, and oxygen. Having worked in this industry for a long time, this isnt the first time ive seen an attempt to deceive and/or bully an accident victim into paying the tow bill in full to get their personal property from the vehicle. Often people are convinced to not only pay the tow bill, but also relinquish the title to the vehicle.Regardless, I would strongly discourage using this company if you have a choice in the matter, and just as strongly suggest getting your vehicle as soon as humanly possible if its taken there because you dont have a choice.

Writing this review only a few minutes after wrapping up with I-70 Towing & Recovery because our experience was that great. Dave Cunningham was AMAZING. We had a flat tire on the side of the highway in 30 degree weather with snow and ice on the ground and waited no more than 20 minutes for Dave to arrive after calling it in. He swapped out our bad tire with the spare NASCAR-speed with a smile on his face the entire time. Most chipper guy you’ll ever meet changing a flat tire in the dead of winter. Followed us to the next exit to make sure all tires were in working order. Phenomenal customer experience.

I have used this company several times. These guys do exactly what they say they will. This time, they pulled two vehicles out of the mud quickly and for a very affordable price. Fast and dependable!

The owner is dishonest. Charged an extra $150.00 per hour and an additional hour for towing. What should have been a $3,700.00 tow bill ended up being $7,190.00. He would not answer the phone to talk to me about the bill and made his help (who was good btw) do his bidding. In difficult economic times its sad to see people ripping-off other people. Buyer beware, if you have a choice pick a different company.

During the first major storm I found myself and my 19 wheel loaded lumber truck in the ditch. I-70 Towing and Recovery were prompt and professional. They took the time to safely get me out from the ditch without shifting my load and without my truck tipping over. They did this after a back breaking 48 hours of work when the storm came through. The two responding drivers never complained or acted like they were upset to be out in the weather. They were genuinely concerned for my situation. They were polite and professional. I would highly recommend this towing company.

Too long didn’t read: the people who do the towing are fantastic, kind, and professional. The receptionist was rude, confrontational, and reluctant to help.I want to start by thanking the gentleman who was driving and operating the towing vehicle, as he was super kind, honest, and helpful. He gave me a call to help clear up a situation where we were trying to figure out if they towed the correct car. He was so professional and kind, I really appreciated his politeness and timeliness in helping me resolve this situation. He is the reason I was able to get reimbursed and worked through this with me, not against me or anything. I can’t say enough great things about him!On the other hand, the receptionist was completely rude. I had just talked to a woman about the car and she mentioned that the vehicle they meant to tow had plates from a different state than mine. So when I realized they had towed my car instead of the one they intended to, I called after paying the fee to get the car back. I said ‘hey, I just spoke to you and you said the car had these plates, but mine are [insert state] plates. I didn’t get any evidence my meter was expired, only that another car that is the same make and model as mine was in an expired spot but different plates, so can you let me know if you have photo evidence my car was intended to be towed instead of the other one?’ I was met with an extremely rude response saying ‘don’t tell me what I did and did not tell you’ and I explained I’m not trying to be confrontational in any way by asking a question about my car. I just wanted to work with them to clear it up. I made a point to let her know I really am not upset, she just has information I need to resolve this and I would appreciate her help. I could tell she was extremely frustrated and it was so unprofessional when I was speaking to her like an adult with respect.I really appreciate the people who actually do the towing, they are polite and really helpful, and are very professional. The receptionist on the other hand was extremely rude and it was uncalled for and negatively reflected on the face of the company. The actual laborers are fantastic- the receptionist was not. Maybe she was having a bad day and it was out of character, but the way she reacted towards me trying to solve a problem WITH them, really reflected poorly on the company.

I needed help with my car and they came right away and all the workers are nice and the front lady in the front help me with my price like figering it out and it was kinda low but if u need help call them they will help and they will be really nice and help u and give u a ride if u need it so yeah please call them ok and captian and dave are one of the best they helped

I was in a pickle Friday. My emergency line broke to my trailer on a hill 150 ft from my destination. Dave Cunningham to the rescue, hooked air up to my trailer and got me off of the hill on to flat surface so I could drop it and go get my truck fixed.I cant say enough. Terrific service. I was stranded about 15 miles away from Columbia. They responded within 30 minutes took me to Walmart to get my tires replaced and gave me good honest feedback on which tires I should get replaced. Quality service and even more quality people!

They had to drive out about an hour to get me. There was an initial confusion on when they’d get there. You’ll probably want to nail down a time rather than “soon”. However, once they got there, there were courteous and professional.

Do not leave anything in your vehicle if these guys tow your vehicle! When i picked up my truck the next day, my 380 pistol and my sons 22mag were gone along with the two brand new 35 12.50x18 tires that were in the back of the truck. Not to mention they lost the key. Tow truck driver admits he had to put truck in park. But didnt do anything with a key. Still baffles me how the key could be gone when the dam key dont come out till u have truck in park. Had to call out columbia police to report items stolen. DO NOT USE THIS TOW COMPANY!!!!!!

I was in a pretty bad accident on 5/20/19 and when the driver arrived and saw the damage, he assumed my wife and I were dead. After discovering we were not dead, but alive, the driver reacted quickly and professionally to get both of us out of the car. My wife and I met him at the tow yard 2 days later. He hugged her and shook my hand. We shouldnt have been alive, but this guy did everything he could to help us and to take care of us. The car was totalled and inaccessible in some places. We had one of our 26 straight trucks drop a drive shaft on 63, that had to be the fastest and most professional tow we have had. The driveshaft ripped off an airline so the truck wouldnt move, the driver was under it, caged the brakes and had it backed into one our docks in 30 minutes.
